That matrix will go forever. They're just amazing cars. Keep an eye on the oil, maybe check the timing chain. Other than that, it'll go until you get bored of it :P
It's worth mentioning that the matrix also has a second storage compartment between the spare tire compartment and the back seats. It's quite deep and it works well to store items that you don't necessarily need access to every day.
Thanks for the insight! I have a 2016 Toyota Aqua in Japan (apparently called Prius City over there). I spent 2 nights in it, slept horribly due to the diagonal of the back seat. I have no matress and thought it would still work with a yoga mat... But now I can see some possible improvements. Anyway, it is great you guys show that we dont need super expensive high-end van conversions ^^
The prius hatch 4-door is perfect for car camping if you ever want to upgrade from the C. The climate control makes it the best, and more room than the C :)
Ste-Agathe, my home! Not many people know that the Pontiac Vibe is the same exact car as the Matrix. Plus you can find them cheaper than the Toyota's just because its not as well recognized. I hope you slept well at Parc Lagny.
Such an awesome, well thought out video! I've got a 2004 matrix that I absolutely love so much and found this content very entertaining and fun to watch; kudos and all the best to you both! :) Ps. Love toyotas! Great, reliable cars!
Thanks for this vid! I have a 2008 Matrix. I am going camping for a couple of days next month solo. I'm tall so I'm hoping I can bridge the gap comfortably between the folded down back seat and the front passenger seat/table. I have a rectangular stool which is exactly the height of the folded down back seat and fits well between the seats. There is plenty of space under the stool. There are all kinds of nooks and crannies to store stuff, too. The only thing I need to work out is a tarp shelter for extra privacy and so I stay dry between the car and picnic table if it rains.
Hi! Just found your channel! I also have a Toyota Matrix (2004) which I LOVE and use as a car camper. I like looking at other car camper setups to see if there is anything I can do differently or better than my setup (which you can check out on my channel). I do like the idea of the Prius for the electric side, but the Matrix is really just the right size for my needs. PS- fellow Canadian here!
Nice comparison of the two cars! The biggest disadvantage of the Prius C stands out in a side by side comparison: it is really small. Either of these two cars would be a good choice, but I love my Prius C.
My 2007 Matrix I removed the front passenger seat and have a full sized cooler there. It sits flush with the flat back and I rest my head on it at night, with a simple thin cheap camp foam pad over it.
I wish they still made the first generation Toyota Matrix. I know they still make the the Corolla Hatchback, but that vehicle has a lot less interior space and no awd option.
Love both cars yes mpg is better in the Prius but repairs are much much less and way less expensive on the matrix matrix will go 300k miles with very little repairs now the Prius will ask for several expensive items like the battery.. so will saving on gas worth that much ? Don’t know .. your call nice comparison
The Prius is much better the reason being it is a hybrid if both them cars were in below zero weather the Prius can run all night keeping you warm the matrix would have to run the engine all night never turns off burning up all the fuel same thing in summer.
Great video i love the toyota matrix 😎
I would love it if Toyota came out with a Matrix hybrid. Maybe like a successor to the Prius V, but with even more interior cargo space.
agreed, literally keep everything about the 09 matrix or vibe, give it usb aux and a hybrid drive train, and id keep that car for the rest of my life.

Matrix/Vibe are super utilitarian and are perfect for camping and adventuring.
Both cars seem great! This is awesome content and very inspiring!!
they're both amazing for car camping!
Good comparison and some things to look for or think about when selecting a vehicle.

Make sure to change the blinker fluid. 😏
The Prius also gets more mpg so she has to fill up way more often than you do.
keeping the manuals alive, go matrix! I have a manual matrix too and Ill def take it to my grave

i must say i love my Prius C too! even if it is tiny :)

sounds like a great idea!
I have the 2003 toyota matrix base model with the same things.
I wish they still made the first generation Toyota Matrix. I know they still make the the Corolla Hatchback, but that vehicle has a lot less interior space and no awd option.
i think you should take the rear seats out of the prius and you would have way more room
I love my 2009 Matrix sport
Great video!
Awesome job the video!
thank you!

Have some Great Adventures Ladies!
Too bad that on the matrix 2009 they stopped having the flush passanger seat
Good to know
I bought the same car (2015 Prius c three) with 103k miles for 12k after fees and taxes.
i own a 07 matrix its the best to camp out of .

Hybrid cars are overall much better for camping
Room on wheels. ❤
New sub 🙏✈️🙃
Matrix girl, I'm in love with you! What should I do?
I have the 2006 matrix too
Me to a 2007, great car, unbeatable, even having replaced the clutch twice.
Love this we are currently driving & car camping from Iceland to Australia in a Lexus RX SUV. Zahra www.youtube.com/@twoheadnorth
