    2 tips (whitout telling you what to do with your trailer 🙂) 1 - for the dining bench table that swings out - look at the possibility of making it unfold to 2x the depth - this will give you a low/slim profile against the wall as a breakfast/coffee bar and when swung out you can flip the top open to make a dinette size for more people (stolen idea from Antiques Roadshow and the old card/games tables that were low profile them transformed when needed with more space.) and speaking of stealing ideas 2- don't forget to check out boat/yacht cabins for storage ideas as they, like trailers, need everything bolted down when in motion. See ya in 2 weeks (more if you need it)

      Hey good news about the outsite! One thing ill recommend - draw ur plans on the floor of the van, we found out from measurement to floor we were out by 1cm and it meant we had to move our toilet, which we were glad we found out early! Enjoy parent hood looking forward to the fortnightly videos :)

    One suggestion I have is to watch videos of van lifers who have reviewed what they like and don't like about their build. It might give you good ideas on what to incorporate into your design and things to avoid. Thank you for sharing your journey!

      Agreed! Similar size boats/yachts could also be helpful. Because they’re also working with small space and being set up to move 🥰

    So happy for you that you are able to continue your build! My only concern would be the sleeping arrangements for three of you. Baby Frankie will get so big so fast, and if I was building this for me and my husband and daughter, I would be making the dinette into a convertible bed for my daughter for when she is older and bigger, but of course depends how long you will be traveling in it for. It’s going to be amazing when it finished! Best of luck to you both ❤

    Hey! I'm finishing my naval engineering masters and I learn a bit about composite construction. It's very normal for the roof to be sagging, in composite yatchs the fiberglas itself is not what keeps the structure rigid, to support the fiberglass hull, there is a sort of skeleton around the entire structure making it keep its shape, this can be made of more fiberglass or just wood, the main principle is just to have a support which is basically the profile of the shape you want to have, all around. Basically don't just make 'beams' on the ceiling, make supports all around the fiberglass. Just google 'inside a composite hull' for some images if I wasn't clear enough. (English isn't my first language)

    • @LeahandLevi
      @LeahandLevi  9 месяцев назад +2

      This is awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing this, we figured that the cabinets and internal stuff was going to play a big role in the stability of the trailer so hopefully that sorts everything out!

    • @therisky
      @therisky 9 месяцев назад +1

      This can also be accomplished with sandwich panel construction instead of ribbing. You can use either XPS insulation or composite sandwich core foam, but it will be much more expensive. Using a continuous foam core sandwich construction all around the inside will prevent any thermal shorts, so there won't be any cold spots, your insulation will be much more effective. Once the insulation is in place you can glass over the inside, or use wood paneling or similar, just anything to attach cabinets etc to. Lots of solvent based adhesives will melt XPS though, so you have to choose carefully

    Glad to hear that you've got the good sense to slow down the video upload interval -- you've got plenty on your plate. Yes I'll miss seeing a vid every week, but I'll survive knowing you won't get burned out.
    Two tips you may find useful:
    1) Humble Road channel on YT is a wealth of info for build ideas and methods
    2) ICBC auctions -- turns out, when my boss had his trailer stolen and recovered recently, his private insurance paid out ( too expensive to repair the hideous damage), and the damaged trailer was purchased by ICBC for salvage/scrap -- yet it had many newer or good components Ie a fridge just 2 years old, etc. Apparently ICBC will auction it off and you may find that's a very cost effective way to get all kinds of things you'll need for your new build.
    Cheers!...from North Vancouver

    Can’t wait to follow along on your progress! I was so excited to find your channel! I think it’s going to look really sweet when it’s done. Been wanting a Bigfoot for years and finally found the one. Bought an ‘88 just two weeks ago and brought it home from Prince George, it’s mint. Previous owners had the exterior completely redone… gel coat, lights, fan, tires. The interior is meticulous, just dated. I’ve already picked up fabric and paint. These trailers have everything …easy to tow, so much storage, counter space, windows and a bathroom. Your fibreglass guy is right, they hold their value. You can’t go wrong. I’m a single lady taking this thing into retirement and will tagalong with my friends and finally see the rest of 🇨🇦 See you in two weeks!

    I’m fully on board with reducing your frequency of videos to focus on your family and other commitments. Just for another perspective, the RUclips algorithm is VERY good at showing your videos at the top of my feed for many hours until I watch it, which isn’t a similar experience to Instagram or the other socials for me. I imagine even producing shorter videos is a lot of work, but perhaps that’s an option going forward to keep the channel momentum you have (and algos happy😉). WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION!! Please factor this in your design - the water and bathroom toward the back may not be best. Increased weight behind the axle is very very bad for towing. It is best to load evenly with heaviest over the axle and a *slight* bias toward weight in front of the axle (balancing stability, safe total capacity and modest but existing tongue weight). Get someone with towing experience to look at your plans and consider modifying your floorplan. There is a reason a lot of trailers seem "odd" splitting the sleep/dine and primary sleep areas with bathroom and appliances in the middle - balance and safety towing! Good luck with the build, you can do it!

    I’d take the max towing weight from your pickup and shave a few hundred pounds off of it, then build the trailer out to be a little below that number. Just to account for the extra weight of any gear, food, clothes, baby stuff, etc…, you’ll be packing into the trailer.

      Would the set up cost and needing to keep it road safe make it a feasible option?

    You made absolutely no statement about the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. This video was released 7 days after the massacre. Even if you filmed this before October 7, you could have edited in a statement and/or inserted something in the description.
