Slash, one of the most iconic guitar stars, recognizes the incredible prowess of Eric Gales. More people need to know about Eric.
I was fortunate enough to attend an Eric Gales concert a few months ago. If you ever get a chance to see him live, it's an unforgettable experience. I hope he comes back around here soon.
Eric is one of the most talented guitarists alive today, even more so than Slash. Way more versatile and dynamic.
Anybody who understand something about guitar playing can see the greatness of Eric.
Right Eric lotta people know/but they don’t know what they don’t know
SLASH es una leyenda viviente.......pero disfruta tanto tocar ....para 100. 200 o 45000 personas ..... disfruta tocar .......UN VERDADERO GRANDE .
Slash playing a Firebird, how cool is that
He played many different guitars this concert. Even did a lap steel closer.
Been doing it since 2016/17
So sick I never expected it!! I have the chrome-blue version of that exact guitar. So big and throaty-sounding. Massive neck
I've always wanted that exact guitar: in red with a tremolo!
@@Kennedy_Young Absolutely! 🎶👍
I have seen Eric Gales and let me tell you he is unbelievable. It is a crime that he isn't as well known as others like Slash, Joe Bonamassa or John Mayer. No disrespect to those gentlemen but Eric is one of the most original voices on the instrument you could ever hope to see.
Pretty sure playing the blues is living your dream! Not sure it’s about notoriety
It’s about playing and feeling the blues! Eric is out of sight!! He’s well known in blues community
Amen to that! I pray that I get to see him perform live one day.
EXACTLY! The other guys are out of this world, BUT he voicings are so UNIQUE. It's unbelievable! I can't describe it. I have NEVER seen another player who phrases like he does.
Yep, but I add Nuno Bettencourt.
These guys sing way better than Eric. Eric is a bad mf on guitar. U never hear Slash singing, Eric gets 100 💯 for guitar playing and minus 85 for his singing. If he plays blues, his singing is minimal, so you're just wait for the singing to stop so the guitar can riff. Mayer, you shouldn't even compare the two. Excellent songwriter singer and guitar player.
I think Slash was really feeling this. Very good jam.
Lot of respect to Slash for hanging with Eric
Lots of respect? Eric is an accomplished and respected guitar player in his own right. Sounds to me like two notable guitar players jamming out on stage
Totally agree. Eric can play circles around Slash. Slash's public persona is as a guitar god, so he has a lot to lose by getting shown up by someone most non-musicians don't know. It's all good fun though. Eric is respectful enough to hold back a little, and Slash is gracious enough to share his fame to bring up the newer generation of guitar gods. 🤘
@@corinnemoreno3765you read it wrong. Their point was respecting that slash could hang with Eric gales
Eric Gales is a machine gunner smoking everybody in the field... Holyjesus what a solo!!!!
not that hard technically
Amazing performance, Jimi Hendrix’s music lives forever.
Yep. Every artist can make it their own while still paying tribute to Jimi. 💙💙💙
Eric Gales is a phenomenon. He plays great blues rock guitar - and then he just flies off into the stratosphere. Unbelievably fast riffs.
Blows my mind every time I hear him, even though I know whats coming.
Great dual guitar 🎸 here!
Eric was killing it man right tone right
feel right vibe . Eric you the man!
To me this is the true art of music...Mr. Hendrix must have applauded these two from beyond the grave.
Slash defined my teens, Hendrix vinyls light my summers, now I'm 46 and running, off 22 kilos last year. :)
You ran 22 kilos across the Mexican border?
Say whatttttt
hell yes brother
Thanks man. I was just about to ask about your weight loss.
Keep it up bro 💪🏻
Slash killed it. So did Eric. Match made in heaven.
Slash looking jack3d
Eric Gales just keeps getting better and better his tone was killer and he achieved next level status with that solo
Great video. Awesome to see Eric getting the long due recognition 🎉
True that. He's dropped my jaw at least half a dozen videos.
Shit anybody who knows or is a real player knows he is one of the best in the world, and put him with anyone, and he schools them on tone, and vibe
We all love em in he 901! ❤
@@shable1436 Yea, I love Slash, but he is out of his league on the stage the Eric F-ing GALES!
It blows me away at how Eric can play those blazing fast runs with a super clean guitar tone. What a player!
He's truly exceptional. One of the best players on earth.
Slash and Eric, great combo, they should make a record together, da bomb!
Slash is the reason I started playing guitar and Eric Gales is got to be one of the best discoveries I’ve made recently and I don’t know how I haven’t found him sooner because he’s fucking amazing Great show guys!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Two of the best pickers of our time jamming?
Gold!
Been waiting decades for Slash to enter his 'Blues' phase!
Eric one of the best for sure. Slash not so much
Slash is a Hendrix fan, has been for decades.
He always was a blues player. That's why I loved G&R when they came out. A nice throwback to Rock'nRoll, when most guitarists were more metal/classically influenced, or god forbid, someone like CC Deville.
Slash had a band called “Blues Ball” back in the 90’s.
@@donricchio4817Whilst not being overly technical, Slash has composed some of the best guitar solo’s of this generation.
Thanks to whoever sent this little gem. That was outstanding!!
Rock On!
For anyone who might not know, Eric Gales is AMAZING!!!
@@hellomyfriend67
I just noticed. Never heard of that guy before, now I'm sold! Gonna rush to the record store today!
Anyone who witnessed, now knows
Eric has always been a monster player, I use to see him play on Beale Street when he was a kid in the 90's. Awesome.
You bet - Memphian here too...
He was born in 1974 …maybe late teens in the very early 90’s …but i remember hearing of him playing all around my area(Connecticut )in the 90’s (probably more mid 90’s )..then again the term kid is relative …like :if i were to see him at that mid 90’s age of early to mid 20’s now , hed be a kid to me at my age 😂
What was killer was when Eric would jam with Shawn Lane in Memphis.
Thats awesome seeing Eric Gales. I engineered sound for him at the Overton Park Shell in Memphis, TN in 2003 when he was "kind of" starting his career. Great job Eric, my brother!
DIG! Eric is probably one of the most underrated players today. He reminds me of one of the old school “cutting heads” when he plays. Absolute real deal🤘
He IS! In terms of guitar solos I put him at the TOP with the best of them!
He's really not underrated at all. He's acknowledged by guitarists everywhere to be at the top of his game. But I'm older and from Memphis too, so Eric has always been in my radar.
I must travel in different musical circles cause we’ve been jamming Eric Gales for YEARS in Philly. 🙌🏼
He's extremely underrated. He's every bit as good as Joe B and shares a lot of similarities in style. IMO Gales is a bit better as I feel more soul from Gales. But for whatever reason he doesn't have the success that Joe B does. Joe B has said more than once he thought Gales was one of the world's best players
Two great masters, Slash and Eric Gales. This is a STORMING live performance. 🎶🌟🌟👍
Slash is Slash and we Love him ❤️👊 But Eric is also a Force of Nature ❤️👊 Great Stuff 👍🏻💪🏻❤️
I got the awesome chance to play in an opener for Eric Gales. Got to meet him. What I love about him is that he is absolutely balls to the wall 110% on stage. His sets absolutely thump the ground!! If you have never seen him live you need to. He puts on a hell of show. And if you can catch him when he plays Kashmir it fkn rocks!!
Eric is one of the finest in todays times with some great rounded tones and Slash is playing a precision weapon! The Drummer was pushing both of them to the edge of this planet.😃I could see Eric and Slash having a great great moment! Thoroughly enjoyable!
Slash+Eric Gales playing Hendrix = OH heck yes!
Slash was my absolute guitar hero when a was a teenager. Since a decade now, I still love Slash (especially for what he did when I was a teenager) but I'm a huge fan of Eric Gales. To see those two awesome guitar heros playing together is a dream come true... I wish I was there! Thanks for posting it!
Rock On! It was a sweet show for sure
Never heard of Eric until today…very impressive… imagine him and Eric playing side by side. Close to a mirror image of each other. Jimi is looking down smiling. Slash as usual is always amazing. He just loves people period.
I met him when I went to a small bar in Ms. to see him after reading about him in a guitar magazine. The bar was called Muddy Waters. This was before the internet. lol He was probably barely 20 years old and was just as good back then. Very nice guy too. Just like many in the world, he’s had to battle against addiction but it’s made him a wise and very humble man. He seems to be doing much better these days. 🙏🏻
The stage presence was awesome with a right and left hand player! Keep rocking!
This was awesome! The band I was in at the time, in November of 2019, had the privilege of opening for Eric Gales in Greensboro, NC. It was one of the coolest gigs I ever played. We met him and his band afterwards. He was the most humble guy. Super nice. Our band got to take a picture with him. It was a great night!!!
Dude!!! I was at that show and was impressed with your band’s performance and made it a point to talk to you guys out front on the patio afterwards. I was 56 at the time and I’ve seen a few bands in my time, ran a Peavy 24 channel board for a few years also. That was the last show I saw for quite some time,Covid hit right after that. I hope you’re well and still playing on some level.Your name doesn’t help me but I was impressed by the whole lot of you.Damn time flies…
Jimi’s sitting somewhere with a big smile on his face.
And a joint:)
YES!
DANG! Eric Gales is Jimi reborn..Holy shit!
Without the voice.
Even a left handed player 😮
It's great seeing two great guitarists with such different styles join together for an awesome tribute to Hendrix! 😎
Go see Eric Gales. You won't regret it. A genius.
I still can’t get over that Eric plays the guitar upside down! He makes it work!
Just like Hendrix.
Ironically, Jimi Hendrix did the same thing. Was kind of famous for it as a lefty.
hendrix play upside down, Jimi played " 1969 Fender Stratocaster, original pick-ups, maple neck, strung upside down for a left-handed motherf***ing genius, Jimi Hendrix " to Quote Ford Fairlane from the "Adventures of Ford Fairlane "
That's a right handed guitar with the strings sequence inverted, that basically makes it a left handed guitar. In theory it should be the same thing as a guitar for us right-handed people.
Hey he plays like me upside down. It is whst hapens when you start out on guitar as a leftie with only access to a right handed guitar.
This is the best moment ever. Two iconic guitarists Eric Gales and Slash! You guys keep on living the American dream!
Two great guitarists covering an iconic song! Win-Win 😊
Love how they stayed in the pocket and killed at at the same time ❤❤
Rock On!
Fantastic playing as always by these two. Great to see Slash rocking a Firebird.
That firebird is lovely
Slash is everywhere! Never takes a break. Good for him.
Vunder Slausch!
The moment slash went to rhythm playing for Eric to solo was so tight 👌
Slash solos first. That's the deal
I was just thinking the SAME thing watching this and came to the comment section to see if others noticed. When slash is playing rhythm for you, you know you're a great player !!!
Wow Slash doesn't have a les Paul !! 😮 great job!! This is one of the best guitar songs of all time!!!!!😊❤
Damn this was amazing and so perfectly executed!! This is why I live and die for music✌🏽😎✨🕊️
Wow... Eric Gales and Slash. Awesome! 😎
Eric definitely said “excuse me while I kiss this guy” and pointed to Slash!! Great show!
Slash is definitely one of my spirit animals ⚡🎸⚡🎸⚡🎸😎💯🎶
Wow! Slash & Eric's head stock upside down, you know you're info a treat baby ❤🎸👌🎙😎
Eric Gales!! Astounding!! He shows us what's possible - and to never stop reaching for the stars. I'm guessing it takes a brave guitarist to stand on stage next to Gales, and Slash nails it. Wowza!
Rock and Roll. They brought it. Killer no Filler. 👍🏼🫵🏻👍🏼🫵🏻
I was lucky enough to see Eric Gales a few months ago here in Kent, Ohio. Blew me away, what a player...
Awesome you got to see him live!
It's amazing how Gales has cemented himself along many legendary guitarists, may he keep the flame lit 🔥
This is an amazing preformance!
Slash is really a good all around man,I love when he gets out there live collaborating with other musicians and doing covers of Jimi !!! Purple Haze!!!
One of my Faves!!!
Fuggggin’ INCREDIBLE!! The audience WON!! Wow!!
I love seeing Slash banging out these tunes with the blushes cats that need to be heard more. Eric Gales is unbelievable.
Both true statements!
It looks like they are both having an absolute BLAST!!!! 💥
This song was made for two guitars. Beautiful, man!
Difference is Jimi only needed 1
Two of the last guitar heroes still with us. Legends.
so good to see Slash enjoing the music so much iiii]; )'
Some of the best guitar soloing I have heard in MANY years!
It’s always cool to watch Slash play. From 1 string guitar to a master.
The synchronicity between these 2 greats is amazing!!!
I saw eric play last year at this thing i went to. He blew me away. Phenomenal player
wow, tears in my eyes
Two awesome guitar players having a blast, love it!
Slash is on my list of favs. I like this Eric guy now, too. Thanks for blessing the NW. Jimi's roots live on.
American culture, American rock'n roll, the way it oughta be. 🇺🇸
the duet you did not know you needed!
Slash is in a crazy creative ecstasy, he works and plays like never before, well done
I saw Erie Gales, I think, in the early 90's and we stood in front of the mains and my ears where ringing at least a weak in Columbia, SC
Awesome show then and doesn't get the respect he deserves IMO. Rock on
WE WILL NEVER STOP LOVING YOU GUYS
These fellas knocked it outta the park here....awesome mellow tempo to this groove.
They never rushed it.
And thusly crushed it.
🤘👽
🎸
⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
So true, with all the intensity building they kept it right where it needed to be, fantastic players.
Glad those guitars didn't catch on fire, they nailed it and well !!!
One of the most amazing things I’ve seen in awhile
How cool. Seeing Slash end of the month for the Orgy of the Damned tour... can't wait to see that blues show. Waiting decades for a rockabilly type album. Great video.
Casual Masterpiece - they were feeling it!
This is so bad ass!!! Love them both!! 🔥🔥🔥
Slash is still the only man in his 60s who can dress like a man in his 20s and still look cool
I saw Eric Gales in Curitiba Brazil and it was a masterpiece. What a great jam! 🎸🔥
its joy to see him without the night disco laser lights. Thank heavens i can enjoy the music.
Two great guitar players jamming to Purple Haze. RIP Jimi G.O.A.T
Never saw Slash so excited and happy before, he fell in Love ❤ ;)
never been a eric gales fan but he was on fire here ....
This was an absolute joy to watch Eric let Slash do his lead thing at the start and then Slash return the favor! I love playing with friends like this! We are forever indebted to whoever posted this since we could not be there to witness this live!
I have loved guitar since the 60’s as a kid it carried on all though my life this is just bad ass I have never heard of Eric until now what a great guitarist add Slash and you have the makings of something special then add a Jimi Hendrix’s song to the mix and you have rock and roll bliss !! Great performance by both !! Eric your awesome my man !!
Two of the greatest legendary guitarists live today
Eric'slash have been humble like this for the last 37yrs
My god! Eric Gales was absolutely phenomenal. Starting at 4:35 him and Slash start playing off each other. I haven’t seen guitar solo’s like that in a long time. Brilliant!
God, so much coolness on that stage. Wish I was there!
F*****g awesome! Two drummers! Regret not being there.
Gales is da man, great to see em rock out together.
Top notch performance. TY.
Thanks for posting this. Absolutely fantastic performance music.
I prefer Eric's solos to Slash's. Much respect to both!
Great performance right here ! So cool to see these two together.
... get this on stereo .... KILLER JAM!!!
.... good recording ... good sound .... hopefully there will be an album of the SERPENT Festival
Not bad !. Finally some new cover music that does not suck. It's Slash stepping into a new role, good for you Slash !.
Virtuoso musician.
It doesn't get better than this.
I love these guys,
My favorite guitar players are always the jammers. Let it all hang out. Sometimes it's magic
