It's wonderful that you have taken up clearing and helping to maintain these old trails; it's easy for them to disappear into the forest. They need care and attention - thank you for doing that. From a former Parks Canada Trail Crew chainsaw operator I do appreciate it.

You are an amazing man. So many of us watching your videos can only live through you. Some are these climbs are truly terrifying as they are spectacular. You would be an invaluable asset to the parks service.
An average mountain hiker on good trails can climb up and down 3000 feet/1000 meters in a day, a very good one 5000 feet/1500 meters up and down, to do 8500 feet/2500 meters vertical and 10 miles/16 km there and 10 miles/16 km back in one day without much of a trail is extremely exceptional. By comparison, if you climb up the stable, well-defined and vegetation-free stairs to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris France, that is just under 1000 feet/300 meters vertical, and about 1000 feet/300 meters horizontal.
When you first got Rocko I thought OH NO! Wrong dog. Jacks are so full of life and NEVER want to quit. I didn’t think she would be right for such a small space. Now I see she is perfect. You could take her on a hike every single day and she will always come back for more. They are so inquisitive and amazing, wonderful dogs. Sure makes me miss mine!
After he talked about traveling to Europe, I didn't think a dog was a great idea, but when I saw he got a jack russell terrier, I thought perfect breed for him! Small enough to be portable, tough enough to keep up.
I knew it wasn't going to be long till Foresty starts building his own trail cuts through the alpine. Giving back to the nature lovers and hikers in more ways. Rocko sure is becoming a true mountaineering dog, she loves it as much as her dad.

No gps, only a map, no technology to help find a way, no online resources. Started at km 60 at a large boulder, went way above Fynn Creek following a forested ridge in. Not too bad for bush. I flagged it but plastic flagging doesn't last 22 years. more like 3! We had the advantage of an early ascent start from camp and hard frozen snow to the top. To get up and back in one day is a hell of a push, so good on ya! Boy, that glacier is sure smaller now than back then. The glacier on Joffre too. Soloed it about 1987 and that glacier looks like a mere smudge of ice now compared to what it used to be. Keep on peakbagging!

What sort of life do you have, anyway, that you swoon and croon over what F.F does and lecture to the rest of society about how fantastic and how "full" his "life" is, obviously compared to YOUR "nothing" life??? Do you have a boring, mundane, repetitive job somewhere, a boring commute staring at other similar boring people, do you live in a simple residence in some boring city like Edmonton Canada or St Louis USA, or maybe some small town in the eastern or southern USA or the midlands of England? Does climbing big wilderness mountains or sailing a small boat across vast oceans to tropical islands constitute a "full life" to you, because before you saw these things in YT videos and YOU never DREAMED such places existed and you never IMAGINED that some adventurous people actually do these things? I climb mountains but I do not consider THAT to be "living life to the "fullest". For starters, it is dangerous, in case you don't know it, there are 100 things that can go wrong and some of them might surprise people like you such as whole scree (gravel) slopes start to move downhill and taking you with it, and a dozens of other hazards like rockfall, crevasses, electric storms, dead trees collapsing, handholds pulling out, hypo/hyper-thermia, personal injury in a 1000 different ways and low but serious possibility of a wild animal attack, just for starters. The best camera is the one you have with you, and even though the phone makes overall worse footage, it's not really a massive difference considering that RUclips will compress that down anyway. And Rocko is definitely in her element. Love how she doesn't care that she's a small dog, she just figures out how to keep going over the terrain. It's also incredible how much energy can such a dog have. I thought she was done on the summit but she was clearly just saving energy to do zoomies on the way down. You two are a really good match.
I'm impressed by so much of what you do but what impresses me the most is that you're prepared to put something back with your trail clearing work. That's true altruism.

This was one amazing video, FF. The synergy between you and Rocko is getting stronger and stronger, and her trust in you - and you in her - is always heartening to see.
You’re amazing. 👏 and Rocko’s no slouch either. 👍
Thank YOU kind and hard working man, Foresty Forest and Rocko! I'm so comforted by this and your other journeys that takes me a long to places I can't go because I'm at a fulltime office job, etc, etc. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for sharing your life and talent with us! 🙏 🏔 🌲 ✨ 💚 🌲
His skills and endurance are legendary... he's a top endurance athlete. He always says that so many people have taken the routes...I am guessing usually less than ten since they started.
thanks a ton for making our lives a little better with your amazing videos
Thanks!
It always amazes me how strenuous the hikes are, when you factor in how many times you have to backtrack to pick up the camera from the shots of you walking away out front. There's no quit in our Forestry. That last view of Rocko with her ear up at the end was killer. Take care.✌
The trail maintenance is harder than the mountaineering. Good job. Now, PLEASE! Go to town and find a restaurant with an all you can eat buffet and stay there for a day!
Oh man, that side eye shot of Rocco at the end! I’m glad you enjoy all this and felt safe. I would have been lucky to get myself up there and back let alone carry a dog and take pics backtracking and while hiking! Love you’re safe and happy and healthy!
Man, you take us to the coolest places. Love the scenery.
looks like you chose the perfect dog buddy for you…..Rocko is such a beast and little trooper…..like her human
That was amazing, you and Rocko are such a great team, thanks for taking us along is was incredible.🤗
Love the mountain haircut thanks to local logging @3:30
Loved this adventure! Someday there will be songs sang about a man and his pup climbing mountains! Be safe out there 🤙🏼🐾
This dog lives more interesting life than I do)))
YOU.ARE.AWESOME. Incredible views shared and majestic natural lighting shots (after the summit and trail clean up). This channel should be broadcast into public schools across North America. A salute to your example! o7
The final shot with Rocko giving side-eye is hilarious! Cheers!
Honestly, I think Camera B was a better picture, but that's all subjective. Nice job doing all the trail work!
I don't know HOW you do all this but you're A mighty awesome inspiration!!
Another amazing effort! Consistently the best 20 minutes of screen time of the week. Often frightening but always inspiring. I’m guessing that you and Rocko are the best conditioned pair of hikers in this or any other country. Great stuff, thank you!
Wow so beautiful the mountains and the waterfall so beautiful. Your pups so cute 🥰 Thank you for sharing your mountain hike.
You experience more natural in one day than most people in a year!
Lol lol!!!! That last shot of Rocco's expression at the end of the video was priceless! One of those things you know how they say people look like their dogs or vice versa?! She had this very intense determined tough stare that is quite reminiscent of you or reflective of you! Love it!
What an incredible hike. Rocko is an awesome climbing buddy. I'm glad she realizes there is some backpack and jacket time to keep her safe and able to share these awesome hikes with you.
DUDE THAT IS THE HAPPIEST DOG .. seriously Rocko is in heaven
The old crockpot could be used to hold a summit registry at the top of a mountain.
To you it is legendary. To everyone else it would be considered unsightly trash and would be removed and packed out.
Sir Simon-your videos just keep getting better 🙏🙏 And that Rocco is like icing on the cake. Sending you both lots of grandma love & well wishes 💋. 🙏✌️🌎💞
Another great adventure, can’t say enough about how appreciative we are! Btw, my 3 month old poodle perks up with the music you chose, and is interested in seeing the closer shots of Rocko! Lol! Thought I’d throw that in for her!
Rocko's little side-eye at the end 😄
Wow amazing hike! Thanks for maintaining the trail clean! Everytime I watch your videos, I want go hike Canadian Rockies Mountain! 🏞️
That side eye shot of Rocko is down right spooky. Her eyes are loaded with intelligence!
Stunning video. Really appreciate all your efforts into making these videos and sharing such beautiful landscapes. You are spreading a lot of positivity out there.
Summit 163, #19 for Rocko!! Woo hoo!!!!!! She's a champ in the bush, too. Awesome of you to groom that trail. 👍😎🇨🇦🐾🌲🎖🎖
Foresty you are such a good Canadian you look after our natural forest and also the view from your hikes is amazing also Rocko is great!
Talk about the money shot:
Rocko's expression at the close of this mighty fine video.
Foresty you are such a fantastic RUclipsr. I throughly enjoy your content and the work that you put into each video 👍
