This is truly great. No wonder; Georg Philipp Telemann is universally regarded as one of the giant composers of the Baroque era. His Magnificat is perhaps one of his best known works.
TELEMANN's 'MAGNIFICAT' reflects the authentic religious theme of GOD, GLORY, HEAVEN & SERENITY. The chorus and solos dictate the spiritual prose in pristine and grandiose voices. A monumental composition reflecting the true spirit of baroque music: blessing, cheerfulness and pax. "Magnificat" is a majestic work of poetic sensitivity that elevates the mind to a place where GOD is... Exquisitely joyful!
I didn’t know that Telemann even composed a Magnificat until now, and I was a Music Major in College! But is work is truly amazing! Telemann was basically “glossed over” in my Music History classes in favor of Bach. But there’s obviously something to be said of a composer who beat out Bach for Kapellmeister!
Indeed Telemann is more modern, lively and versatile than Bach. They say Telemann is a "Vielschreiber", but the quality and beauty of his enormous output is unsurpassed I Think.
This is a true masterpiece. Just astonishing!! Extraordinary composition. This is the best version I've heard. There are many poor efforts on utube for this one. None of them come anywhere near what sounds like Vivladi intended it to sound.
Telemann is truly beautiful, but let's not forget the Louis XIV and the French Baroque. Also other composers of this era: Philidor, Handel, Purcell, come to think of it, this era was one of the most prolific God - glorifying epochs of musical creation. That being said, I do believe God inspired these wonderful composers, and their musical legacies have stood the true test of time, and we are privileged to hear them today through the medium of vinyl and the compact disc. Gott sei dank!
@@rogerknox9147 He was talking about André Danican Philidor the elder (1652-1730) who is indeed a baroque composer, and not about François-André Danican Philidor the great (1726-1795), his son, who was a classical composer and a chess player.
AH Yes! This is the older Version on the Kurt Redel (Philips) Double CD set with Mathew 1730>>which I recently found out has Extra Arias! Splendid Full sound with dexterous Singers and alert Instrumentalists! An animated interpretation which still holds its own well!
The performance is allright but not ideal. Especially the alto and soprano soloïsts are of the primadonna-type, out of tune and a continuous shaky vibrato.
horrible recording .... with modern instruments and wobbling singers ... they simply destroy this wonderful music ... cannot stand this ... bye bye ...
Bach was definitively the last Baroque composer. The "end" of the Baroque musical period is set to 1750 after his death. He was, indeed, the greatest Baroque composer, together, perhaps, with Telemann and Handel.
The instrumental opening is pure heaven! So much is packed into those 58 seconds. 🥰
Wow I'm glad I read your comment
how did i live that far without this …UNE SPLENDEUR ! 🌈✨🐬

Bach is not ancient, is not modern, he is beyond the time, he is timeless

Telemann is my favorite the Baroque.
Telemann is also my favorite, surpassing Bach of course.

Philidor is Classical not Baroque.

I love Telemann!

Ads are ruining elegance of the work...
I agree -- during "Fecit potentiam" we get a blast. SHAME!

Where can i get the score?.. Free, obviously
What are the interpreters of this recording?

my favorite is " der getreue muzik meister "
Of course he is great but let's don't forget J.S. Bach is a pioneer of baroque
J.S. Bach is not the pioneer, rather the summation of Baroque music (excepting opera).

@@rafaelpereirabianchin2873 And Rameau !
Acommercial in the middle of the Fecit potentiam duetto is NOT funny.
