My wife is a Mexican archeologist and I got to spend a week living in the uxmal archeology camp last winter. I saw soooo many sites but could only absorb so much information.
These videos are so great in that they bring back warm memories and for helping me understand some of the massive amount of information I was hit with at once.
    Thank you.

I'm glad that some people use CG reconstruction to show what these buildings used to be like and the scenery and structures that used to be there. Seeing recently, or not, excavated ruins makes me wonder what function these were for: a gateway, a shade, a meeting place for lovers, a nice viewpoint, or a temple for worship. Thanks for the tour!

Amazing how that simple arch incorporates scale, proportion, and basic divisions that we are accustomed to in western classical architecture. It’s as if these concepts of beauty are universal, and these design ideas are not lightly abandoned.

I'm loving your Mayan adventure! Even the hotel and restaurant views. I've been a "buff" of pre-Colombian history for many decades and visited some of these sites in the early 1970s. Advancements in the decipherment of Mayan gliphs has been making huge steps forward in the last decade, finally, and there so much new information just starting to be figured out to help our understanding of this civilization.

Thank you so much, David. A wonderful video. Except for one thing. 24 frames per second is and old and deprecated television standard which is inadequate even for your (thankfully) slow panning. It results in seeing every frame 6 times before an update arrives on 144Hz screens.
It's like having a seizure in jerky slow motion. :P
    60fps - 60Hz - 1080p60 is the Internet standard in 2021.
True 1080p60 - filmed at 60fps, and rendered at 60fps - will contain more than double the visual data of your existing videos, and the viewing experience at 60fps is very smooth and natural, with extra details emerging easily.

I wish the general public understood how important this work is. Now with LIDAR and decades of many international teams of archeologists working on this we're starting to get a better picture of the centuries long Mayan civilization. The over-a-century long slog to figure out the language and writing systems is in itself a fascinating story. So many of the themes of humanity, the Homo Sapiens species, us, correlate with what we've learned first about ancient fertile crescent cultures. But because of our Euro-centric 19th century prejudices we gave less importance to study of these histories. The history of the Maya is the story of us, too, just as much as the histories of Greeks, Assyrians, Egyptians and Romans are. We've come so far as a species. Amazing. And so much more to learn.

Is funding the primary reason for lack of excavation on the large monuments or are there other factors affecting it? Seems like the site is supervised and maintained quite well otherwise.

Yes, funding is always the biggest issue. At every place we went, I thought to myself how much more could be done if they only had some more money.

Who’s date? Did civilization’s across the world know the same date? Or is that specific to a Mayan calendar. ?

    What I know is:
These buildings were built to house the Jin who were on earth during the time of prophet Mohamed (the 7th century) .as for the “diving god” this is to symbolize the Jin that resides under our oceans and lakes.
At that time believing Jin were studying the the new religion of Islam .
You might think I am crazy but soon we will all learn the truth.

@@carausiuscaesar5672 *so why is BC not accurate?*
