  • Edzna is a fabulous archaeological site off the beaten path of tourism that every lover of ancient Maya civilization should visit. This magnificent forgotten city sits in northern Campeche at a crossroads that once brought in people from all over Mexico. David Miano and Cassie Thompson are your guides to this fantastic site, and they will also show you a wonderful lost city nearby, known as Santa Rosa Xtampak, which even fewer people visit, to their great loss.
We hope you enjoy watching this #antiquitiestravelguide about #Edzna and Xtampak as much as we enjoyed making it.

is anyone else as impressed as me with this channel. i consider world of antiquity to be the head of science regarding ancient structures. his videos make me feel like i'm actually there and sometimes living in the ancient times. of course there are other great scientist online with excellent videos but no one is organized as well as this channel and has the solid performance and consistency with every video. WOA gets all the perfect camera angels, highlights the main interest but also highlights the small interesting things that complete the whole picture. what i truly love about his videos is that he speaks with all facts and when one of the facts sounds a little far out, he somehow knows it and explains it in more detail or leaves a link for us.

Just wanted to say how much I appreciate these travel series you do, the combination of the first-person perspective (including accommodations, food, maps, etc) and all the great information and history and editing, makes for a wonderful experience, while allowing me to see places I probably never will have the opportunity to visit in my lifetime. I know I've made a few joke/creep comments on these before, but please be assured that I am enjoying them primarily for all the reasons you intended. The subscribers who don't pay attention to these are really missing out on something special.

I'm so sad I was completely oblivious to sites like this one when we were down in the Yucatan last fall. It was unbelievable seeing Chichen Itza and Tulum, but holy crap I would've loved seeing a site like this with zero tourists or souvenir peddlers!!

Michoacana is also a popular ice cream parlor name in the Houston, TX area, and you can buy Michoacana brand ice cream in a lot of grocery stores. Didn't expect for it to pop up in a World of Antiquity video, though. 😋 That was a fun surprise.

Hehehe, I also learned the hard way to not trust your GPS when navigating the Yucatan hinterland. Suggested shortcuts often end up taking longer. Usually best to go the longer route, it often takes less time. ☺️

at 14:22 or so, you are walking past a terrace with a very rough floor. is that a deliberate shaping of the stone floor? would it be best described as a 'deterrent' to anyone in bare feet. might it then be considered defensive?

Nice joke, "I just wanna see what their legs were like" because stairs were absolutely everywhere! No wonder they loved that ball game where they used hip and feet movements, like soccer and hackey sack do today.

Is there any Maya sites in the Yucatan associate with the Winter Solstice in the way that Chichen Itza is with the Equinoxes? I am in Merida thought it might make a good reason for a day trip. Great Video by the way.
