Jim was a rich, uptight prude who only tried a pot brownie to get his girlfriend off his back. One little nibble and it was like he’d seen the face of God.

Taxi was such a FUNNY show. Every character was perfect. But Jim was over the top! What a super actor Christopher Lloyd was. Imagine how difficult it would've been to maintain that persona. What an actor...the best hands down!
I don't think CL found it difficult at all. He loved this stuff. I believe he was involved in Frasier - more truly funny stuff. Back to the Future would not have been such a hit without him. Truly beautiful and true comedy.
Watching this comedic vignette after what 25 years of Taxi on Thursday night? Jim was the subtle super comedic star of this brilliant ensemble! There are NO comedies today that come close to the comedy writing of Taxi!
My favorite episode of his is when he was taking his written driver's test and he kept asking what does a yellow light mean ? And when they said slow down that's exactly what he did, he kept asking the question slower and slower !!! It was hilarious !!! 😝
This was comedy at its best, Jim was played so well...i still crack up after seeing some scenes a hundred times. all of them were so much better than what we have today, the writing was excellent too. Karol Kane as Simka and Andy Kaufman as Latka were killers, Simka's way of talking was so sweet...and funny...and Kaufman was a genius. Miss them all so much!!
They left out the funniest part of the cabin sketch. After Jim bangs his head he says 'Where the hell are we!" Somebody says "We're in a cabin in the woods." Jim asks, "Are we lumberjacks?" "No we're cab drivers." Jim then says, "We must not get a lot of business up here."
I remember the next day in work. We laughed our arses off. At lunch there wasn't a table that wasn't talking and laughing about it. I worked in a hospital lol...
WOW. That Drugged Cookies Scene is classic. You can see Danny DeVito doing his best to stifle A Laugh, as Christopher Lloyd is doing all of the things, to test The Cookies for Cola Leaves/Cocaine, including A Huge Sniff Of Them. Classic.
I loved the one where he made a dollhouse for Nardo but taking a welding torch to the can he lived in, exposing himself to the elements. Beautiful character.
We had the comic genius Les Dawson in the U.K. To play a classical piece is one thing, to play it out of tune is much more complicated than you think. Les Dawson & well loved Welsh singer Shirley Bassey below: ruclips.net/video/qxmu9HKN4gY/видео.html
I knew several Jim's in real life. One could have actually named the town closest to the leaves in the cookies. Sadly, he is now gone. Jim remains...as one of the truly great characters in comedy. You can't watch without at least cracking a smile.
My favorite episode of Taxi was when he had to take the written drivers test and they all went with him to help. One of the questions was ‘what does a yellow light mean’. They all said”slow down” so he asked the question again very slowly. I laughed until I cried!!!
The cocaine episode was one of the funnier episodes, but nothing like Reverend Jim's driving test. This was indeed one of the funniest shows ever to air on television.
For me, the piano-playing skit on Taxi was among the very top skits ever put together. It is so brilliant that it made such a lasting impression I've retold and shared it many times.
As I am sure many have said in this thread, one of the greatest comedic actors as part of an ensemble. He and Louie are my favorite of the cast, although they were all wonderful. But Chris Lloyd stole every scene he was in.
I remember watching the piano episode when it aired and I was laughing my Azz Off!! Just now watching it again......I laughed my Azz off!! Jim was my favorite on TAXI. That show is "top-notch" comedy and should be playing everywhere!
It's such a shame that some people only know Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown. He has such an impressive body of work that the younger among us have never seen.

For some time my friends used to call me rev. Jim, l didn't know why, much later my youngest daughtet gifted me the whole Taxi series in dvds. Then, l inderstood what drugs do to you.
Sheer brilliance. The scene at the cabin where they're taking stuff out and Jim's bringing it back in actually runs longer and is hilarious in its own right as a top skit.

this show had so much talent up and down
All my life I have shared the same name as Christopher Lloyd 😊 and that’s pretty cool.
That’s awesome !!!!
This series was a talent showcase, and nearly as endearing as MASH
Nearly? NEARLY? Taxi was the first, it was way ahead of its time, MASH was a great show, but Taxi was much better!
Christopher Lloyed was tops with his part in Taxi; an all time acid burnt out from the days of true comedy!!😅😅🎉😂😂❤❤
