Steve Perry has Songs like " O' Sherrie " that made it to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 ' Foolish Heart " made it to No. 18, Steve Perry is called ( The Voice ) He is one of the Best if not the Best Singer in Rock History. About 3 months ago The Billboard Hot 100 did a Fan Vote " Steve Perry " was Voted the Best Singer in Rock History he got 67% of the Votes.
Steve is well known for holding notes. His breath control is amazing. You really need to listen to Mother Father live. His vocal acrobatics are impressive
No doubt. Part of Perry's musical genius during the "classic" Journey period and his early solo stuff was also arranging lyrics in the song writing process to get the most out of his vocals. What is also truly incredible is to look up on RUclips and watch/listen to his NY concert in the early 1990s. Every single vocal note throughout the concert is nearly perfect to the recorded versions of those songs and they are all being sung live without the possibility of multiple takes.
You need to review/react to Journey Mother, Father live from the Houston Summit November 6, 1981. It will blow you away....make sure you watch the version with the keyboard solo at the end! AMAZING!! Best live performance ever!!!!!!!
I've watched alot of people reacting to music, but Nick, Ty and Ryan are by far the most entertaining. Good to see younger folks enjoy the music I grew up on.
If you want to hear Steve’s vocal range, check out the video for “Wheel in the Sky” live from Osaka Japan. His a cappella lead in to the song is STUNNING!
Listen to his vocal performance of the Journey song "Mother, Father". And do the live video performance if you can. If you thought he went off in this one, you will see him in a whole new light after that one.
Street Talk was a very quickly written and recorded record influenced by Steve's love of Motown and R & B. The Big singles were Oh Sherrie, Foolish Heart and Strung Out. Steve didn't tour off the record just included Oh Sherrie and Strung Out primarily in live concerts with Jouney. So it was a very short period of time for his official second solo recording For the Love of Strange Medicine where he actually put together a new band took time writing, recording and live rehearsing. That project was a 3 year project.
Not even close, except for Oh Sherrie , Foolish Heart, Strung Out, You Better Wait, No Erasin and We're Still Here. Oh, and Don't Fight It with Kenny Logggins.
Damn. Should be a law against one person given that much talent. There is literally no one else who even comes close. Love his solo Foolish Heart. I just turn into a puddle every time I hear it. Nice choice, Nick. Thanks!!
Oh you are so right there there is singing and then there is just pure butter Steve is the man no doubt about it enter the 502 crew there is a lot of different arrangements to various songs that went on during that time that has to be one of the biggest Miami Vice vibes outside of not being on the show that I have heard big time too bad stay wasn't on that show it was a who's who of talent in many ways Thanks for the Memories Steve!!!
I've always loved all this music you guys cover to my core! And I'm 76 so have loved it along time..... But for fun.... It's watching you guys love it too.... Thank you, guys for the fun!
I think Strung Out was better than this. Strung out made 40 and this made 21. However, this was the follow up to Oh Sherrie and they could have released a song of Steve Perry burping and it would have charted.
Finally...someone does a reaction to a lesser known, but awesome, song by Steve Perry. Another you should react to is "Forever Right or Wrong (Love's Like a River") that wound up not being released until Steve's greatest hits album came out. His vocals are out of this world.
Check out the live performance of - Mother Father Sister Brother - done at the Houston Journey concert in 1981. This version is just amazing and he is doing it live! Unbelievable!!! Steve Perry is the best vocalist ever! Where is Ty?
I've been begging for you guys to do this one. My absolute favorite Steve Perry song. 5:59 exactly the reaction I knew Ryan would give! Thanks for this one guys.
I feel this song is about a man protecting his girl from a predator. Steve dives deep (with that Voice from God) into the anguish a lying narcissist can do to a family. There is so much more to SP than meets the ear. His songs reflect a deep understanding of human nature and I think he's had his share of narcissistic people in his life (liars who spread evil and are out to steal, kill and destroy). Listen to "Listen to Your Heart" followed by "Tuesday Heartache". I'm a retired music teacher (classically trained) and SP is my #1: his pitch, rhythm and creative expression are impeccable. I enjoyed your video. thank you.
Your faces when the sax intro'd?!? Amazing reaction!! Whether an average 80s mix or not, this is a good tune. And, yes, Steve is always fire. There's a lil more grit to his voice here. Keep up the great work, guys!
Steve has called making the Street Talk album the most fun he ever had with his clothes on. Oh Sherrie was the really big hit off it (and I'd have to believe Nick has heard that one, whether he knows it or not) and the next biggest was Foolish Heart (which is basically the song Ryan thought THIS one would be). My personal fave though is Captured By the Moment.
Steve always said he had different persona’s for his work. One way of singing for Journey and another for his solo work. Either way, Pure magic. For a rocker try Edge of the blade, Lovin’ you is easy or for a slower burn Happy to give. For Steve’s solo work You better wait. Love your reactions guys!😊😎
Solo - You Better Wait/Captured By The Moment. Live Journey - Mother Father is his greatest, and perhaps THE BEST Live vocal performance of all-time. No joke. Everything from Houston 1981 Live is 🔥
Being that 'Street Talk' was Steve's first solo album away from Journey. He was able to be himself musically. Every song is special in its own way. 'Running Alone' is another sweet song where the guitar has a sweet moment in it!! Also, 'Captured By The Moment' is a sweet 'going down music memory lane' not just in the music world, but those who influence us. And not to mention 'Strung Out and Oh Sherrie'. In the video 'Oh Sherrie', Steve's then girlfriend 'Sherrie' is in the video. Who the song is about!
Y'all gotta listen to 'Lay it Down'. There's a good live performance in Tokyo in 1981. Crazy vocals by Perry, no one can cover it. For a held note, listen to 'Troubled Child'.
Still waiting for you to check out Journey Mother Father live in Houston vocals are incredible or Wheel in the Sky live in Osaka Steve plays around with that beautiful voice of his alongside Neal's guitar
Thank you so much guys for reacting to this! I was probably the one whose request for this you saw. Anyway, I loved your reaction. This whole album is very special to me, and I would love it if you reacted to more of Steve’s solo songs: Strung Out, Oh Sherrie, Donna Please, Missing You and I Am would all be great choices!
If possible, react to the demo version of "Missing You." It was originally released as a bonus track on the CD single for the studio version. It is available on RUclips. The demo version is just Steve Perry singing and the co-writer of the song playing the keyboard. No other instruments. That version could still be a #1 song today if done by a singer that could pull it off. It probably would also be a winning song, if it hasn't already been done, on one of the singing competition shows. That version shows that a very simple set up (vocals and keyboards) can be incredible without needing technology to assist in music sounding great.
Wow, I haven't heard this song in quite awhile! Great reaction guys! If you want to hear more solo Steve try "Missing You", "Foolish Heart" or "Strung Out". If you'd like to hear some live vocal gymnastics from Steve with Journey try "Mother, Father" from Houston 1981 and "Still They Ride" from Tokyo 1983.
Not bad, not bad at all, even fire, I also like a couple of Steve's solo songs "Foolish Heart" and "Oh Sherrie", an excellent vocalist and musician of all times!
So after this solo album, Steve was able to take more of the creative control in Journey, and take the band’s music in more of an R&B direction. The result was the album Raised on Radio. The drummer and bassist were replaced to bring in a rhythm section more suitable for that type of feel. (Randy Jackson of American Idol fame later). The vocals and overall sound therefore display more of similar approach to what you heard here on this song. Check out the songs I’ll Be Alright Without You, Suzanne and Why Can’t This Night Go On Forever. The whole album has a similar sort of feel and change in direction sonically. The one time I got to see Journey with Steve Perry was on the tour for Raised on Radio. I’ve seen Journey many times since then but with various other singers. Always still a great entertaining show and performance, how can you go wrong with that incredible catalog of music, but alas there is only one Voice! Irreplaceable. You can get close, sort of, but never quite same. Ironically, one of the closest is actually drummer Deen Castronovo. Check out some videos of his live performances with Journey Through Time. There are also some of him with Journey on lead vocals from behind the drum kit as well. These days he sings certain songs that his voice and vocal range are better suited for than lead singer Arnel Pineda, such as Mother, Father.
A great Journey performance is Separate Ways World Apart. If you want a new top tier playlist song. The version by Daughtry and Lizzy Hale rocks big time also.
You're right, when you said that Steve is not trying. It comes naturally to him, it always has. That's why his nickname is "The Voice." Simply The Best!
m.ruclips.net/video/lDCMasyhHMc/видео.html The above link is to a song called "If You Need Me, Call Me" by a group named Alien Project, which happened to be Steve Perry's band before Journey. It's fascinating to hear Perry's voice be pretty close to what we hear in his early Journey days, but a totally different (not Neal Schon) lead guitar tempo. In some ways, the lead guitar sounds almost as if it has a "Southern Rock" feel or around the same time when Eric Clapton was trying to tap into "Country Rock" sound (with songs like "Tulsa Time"). However, the vocals are distinctly Perry and you could imagine what this song would have sounded like as a Journey tune with Schon's signature lead guitar sound rather than the version on the recording. As a final note, it's also pretty amazing to learn that there were several executives from different record labels that heard Steve Perry's vocals with Alien Project and thought "Yeah, this guy's not worth signing" (One story from the past seems to indicate that Alien Project was close to a deal but the bass player tragically died in a car accident). Of course, it wouldn't be a record label executive, but the manager of Journey at the time, that heard Perry's vocals and felt Perry was the missing ingredient to the band reaching a much higher level of success. So as the urban (musical) legend goes, the manager had Perry hanging around the band as "the Portugese cousin" of a roadie. When the manager could sneak Perry onto stage before a show to perform with the band without the then-lead singer knowing about it, rock music history was created!
I remember hearing an old interview where he was promoting the album and he said this song was about the kind of guys he termed "sport f***ers." Like sport hunters, they just want another trophy. So it's more like a 'Jolene'/'Fist City" vibe for the story (If you haven't done 'Fist City' by Loretta Lynn I recommend it, it is wild). 14:00 Interesting you say this, I think Steve has also said his writing partner for the album told him that his, Steve's, voice was too good and it made it difficult to tell if the actual song was right/finished yet or not. 'Foolish Heart' is my favorite song from this album. I'll throw in with the comments for Journey's 'Mother, Father' live and also 'Sweet and Simple.'
If you haven't reacted to Lay It Down, Sweet & Simple, After The Fall, ⬆ I highly recommend you do, they're awesome journey songs. as for Steve's solo his other great ones are ⬇ Strung out, Somewhere There's hope, You better wait, Go away, Against the wall. All great songs.😎👌
That solo at the end 😍😍
Steve Perry has Songs like " O' Sherrie " that made it to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 ' Foolish Heart " made it to No. 18, Steve Perry is called ( The Voice ) He is one of the Best if not the Best Singer in Rock History. "Mother, Father" live 1981 in Houston. Performance will blow you away.🔥
Mother father live in Houston might be his best performance. Maybe the best live rock song of that era
This song has 1984 written all over it! What a great year for music. To be 16 again!
Steve is well known for holding notes. His breath control is amazing. You really need to listen to Mother Father live. His vocal acrobatics are impressive

Foolish Heart and Strung Out off this album!
Steve produced this record and Journey's next Raised on Radio. This is a great album. Nobody can touch his voice.
Captured by the Moment!
You need to review/react to Journey Mother, Father live from the Houston Summit November 6, 1981. It will blow you away....make sure you watch the version with the keyboard solo at the end! AMAZING!! Best live performance ever!!!!!!!
THIS IS FIRE.
Delicious from beginning to end.
I love Steve Perry's song "Strung Out". His voice is Amazing!!! "Street Talk" is a Fantastic album!!
Steve Perry’s solo albums have bangers lmao ❤ I’m also have the same birthday as Steve
Underrated gem
Oh my, love that Steve Perry!!❤️❤️ No one could ever steal me away from that man!
this guy could sing the phone book and have us all hooked. Have you reacted to When You Love a Woman by Journey yet?
Captured by the Moment - one of Steve’s greatest vocals, so underrated.
Love that song! 🎶
I've watched alot of people reacting to music, but Nick, Ty and Ryan are by far the most entertaining. Good to see younger folks enjoy the music I grew up on.
My favorite on the album!
Love this song. All the legends he speaks of in the song!
Love that song. His voice sounds so fragile, emotional and amazing at the same time.
That CD is so good 😊😊😊😊😊😊 love Steve Perry 💖💖😍😍😍😍
You all should do a reaction to "I Stand Alone."
YES! One of my all the time favorite songs from Steve Perry ❤
Foolish Heart and Stung Out are two songs I really like from his solo career
If you want to hear Steve’s vocal range, check out the video for “Wheel in the Sky” live from Osaka Japan. His a cappella lead in to the song is STUNNING!
Steve Perry's "Missing You" is a song I think you will enjoy. The lyrics are beautiful and Steve's voice is angelic.
Steve perry can hit an A5 in a full voice ...he is my fav singer of all time. And you are my fav reaction guys of all time, THANK YOU GUYS.
Higher. At least the B
Yeah he can go from F#2 to A5 he's a high countertenor in vocal range, so has the power to sing opera if he wanted too.
Listen to his vocal performance of the Journey song "Mother, Father". And do the live video performance if you can. If you thought he went off in this one,
you will see him in a whole new light after that one.
Amen! Best live vocal ever! Mother Father live from Houston!
Wow great song!!! Not a surprise to me though...He is awesome!!!❤

That project was a 3 year project.
His solo music is every bit as good ad his Journey days. He can sing anything. You can't beat him, he is music!
Uhh, no. Not enough polish.😢
Thanks!!
Glen Campbell comes to mind as someone with talent beyond the norm..
Sorry I used the microphone that is meant Steve in that part
Love Steve Perry ❣️💖❣️❣️

I've always loved all this music you guys cover to my core! And I'm 76 so have loved it along time..... But for fun.... It's watching you guys love it too.... Thank you, guys for the fun!
This is a minor hit from this album. Oh Sherrie and Foolish Heart are the two bigger hits off this. Have to check them out!

Watch the live version of Mother Father in Houston 1983. Best live work ever. Amazing!
Also check out Still She Cries off of Journey's Trial By Fire album.
“You Better Wait” is also a great track worth a listen from his next solo album “For the Love of Strange Medicine.”
Yeah that's a really good one too
Hi fellas, I just happened across you guys. I love Journey . I am from the 502 too. I have enjoyed you guys.
I absolutely love this song! It doesn’t get enough play though. Everybody knows Oh Sherrie or Foolish Heart, but to me, this is perfection
The entire album is good you need to listen to the whole album.
Steve Perry ❤
Check out the live performance of - Mother Father Sister Brother - done at the Houston Journey concert in 1981. This version is just amazing and he is doing it live! Unbelievable!!! Steve Perry is the best vocalist ever! Where is Ty?

I asked them several times too. I’m glad they got to it!
I haven’t heard this song in decades! Love it!!♥️
My favourite of this album is "Captured by the Moment "

The GOAT such a great song!
Awesome Solo jam, he's good, People call him The Voice, good review yeah 🤘😎👍🎤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The whole Street Talk album is fantastic.
I'd highly suggest Go Away and Foolish Heart

Check out Foolish Heart from this album and After The Fall by Journey
I remember a boyfriend saying this to another guy who was trying to still me. Definitely 80s.
Me encanta este tema She's Mine su voz es incomparable y la letra muy intensa ❤❤❤ a love you Steve Perry
Nick, I'm very surprised that you don't know "Oh Sherrie". I thought it was Steve's biggest song.
I believe drum god & legend Larry London is playing on this album! He was probably in his 50’s or 60’s playing this!
Y'all gotta listen to 'Lay it Down'. There's a good live performance in Tokyo in 1981. Crazy vocals by Perry, no one can cover it. For a held note, listen to 'Troubled Child'.
Troubled Child is one of my absolute favorite songs!

Foolish heart and Oh Sherri need to be next!
Fire 🔥
hahaha, you don't often see Ryan with a StankFace but there it is!!
Must do Mother, Father, Sister, Brother; it is PHENOMENAL!!
Thank you so much guys for reacting to this! I was probably the one whose request for this you saw. Anyway, I loved your reaction. I love this entire album. Steve is THE voice.
"Oh Sherrie".........
The Best track on the album for me , what a Voice!! And that outro guitar solo kills it!! Michael Landua guitar sessions legend.
His breakout hit Oh Sherrie is great but his follow up solo- Check out You Better Wait!!!
Listen to faithfully and open arms
Patty-I would like to suggest Lovin, Touching, Squeezin, or one from his latest cd No Erasin. He rocks that song, and there's some raspiness in it.
Not bad, not bad at all, even fire, I also like a couple of Steve's solo songs "Foolish Heart" and "Oh Sherrie", an excellent vocalist and musician of all times!

An absolutely beautiful song that really brings out Steve's more maturing voice is "Why can't this night go on forever."
If that’s the best vocal you’ve heard by him, then you need to do more Journey live!!!
A great Journey performance is Separate Ways World Apart. If you want a new top tier playlist song. The version by Daughtry and Lizzy Hale rocks big time also.
Play the Live show in Houston 1981 - Mother, Father, Sister, Brother

This is a great song!!!!!! Steve never disappoints! He can hold a note forever! You guys need to listen to “show me the way” Styx!
Please do Mother, Father live from Houston 1981 (Journey). You won’t regret it. That angel voice will knock you out at the end
You should really hear Faithfully for a really great vocal of Steve, pleaseeee 🙏🏿
Oh Sherry....Foolish Heart...Still we Ride and more....
Foolish Heart!!! please or..... Oh, Sherrie. Can't go wrong with Steve.
Why would any woman want to get away from a man singing these wonderful songs from his soul 😮❤❤❤
I remember hearing an old interview where he was promoting the album and he said this song was about the kind of guys he termed "sport f***ers." Like sport hunters, they just want another trophy. Sweet and Simple is really good too I love that one
Try "I stand alone" 1998. "Holding notes..."
Steve looks great in that hat. They use it in the music video " Oh, Sherrie " from this album.
“it’s just the Rain” another good one!!
Check out Oh Sherie from the same album
Listen to Strung Out from the same album!
