I agree that these cars should be driven. I just drove my modded single turbo rx7 rotary car from FL to GA and back. I also ripped it hard 4 days at DGRR. It was great talking to you there this year. I did see this car in person also.
You guys are pretty lucky to be able to put that on the road. A mod like that in Oz would have to be fully engineered and certified and be signed off by an automotive engineer. The decibels I'm pretty sure have to be below 100. A lot of modified cars here will run an exhaust valve system, so that they can be run hard at the track ha, ha. I would be wanting over 400hp if it was mine. But you would definitely be grinning every time you drove it. Have a great trip and a blast at sevenstock, definitely want to do that 1 time😊
love rotary sound, but not when its not muffled enough. If you take the cat-back off on your convertible, try this ... drive it and see how loud it is, then ride in it and see how loud it isn't ... after driving a 91 vert for about a year without a cat-back; I became absolutely unenthusiastic about loud exhausts. When I sold it to a friend and finally rode in the passenger seat, I couldn't understand where all the volume went though. Yes, it sounded amazing under a bridge/in a tunnel. But I annoyed others. Consider a basshead booming around your neighborhood or if semis jake-braked in front of your house ... you wouldn't want that all the time. Neither did my neighbors as a teen, and I was obliviously rude. Loud RX-7s, loud V8s, loud subwoofers (18" in the back of a 88 GXL). So the short with the 'you can hear it for 2.6 miles' and the thumbnail here with ears plugged ... if I didn't already greatly appreciate the channel, it would've had me shy away from it personally. Just the same as if you had a thumbnail with car that had 15+ degree camber, over-stretched tires, etc. I never watched people like TJ Hunt, etc. that are meme builders. I love this channel for its honesty, grass roots feel, and the presence that someone is sharing their wisdom in a friend/buddy like manner, sort of how Dahm's channel felt back in the day except this is more 'intimate' than his channel ever was. More like an Uncle Tony's Garage (carbed Mopars) type of feel imo. Thanks for all the content and sharing. You guys do you, enjoy your loudness lol I guess I'm just an old fart who wants a mostly 'sleeper' exhaust. I still love the notes of a rotary through it rev range and a mildly brappy idle and the sound of a large V8 at idle, with its smooth, deep, bassy rumble (non-lopey idle). As long as you don't do camber that makes the suspension look broken, I think I can handle my old man disdain for the loudness lol hope for your continued success, you are doing a lot of good for the rotary lovers.
It's got a muffler. Or a straight pipe that can be changed out in about 10 minutes. I'm on the same page as you. It's a very pleasant car to drive with the muffler on it, a bit on the loud side, but not ear piercing.
My initial guess is 290whp for the 4 rotor on the dyno. Think the RX8 made around 170whp on 2 rotors brand new, and I think it will be less efficient than that. Curious to see what it actually is after I watch. Edit: 350whp is pretty good! I was expecting less with the concern about the oil pressure and lower redline safety, but seems to be making plenty. It does seem a bit lazy the higher in RPM he goes, but I don't know if he was floored the whole time. Maybe a fuel pump is on order for that and you'll be set.
In the vein of keeping things "relatable", outside of a 4-rotor e-shaft which is likely to be expensive, could you build a "cheap" 4-rotor Renesis out of multiple RX-8s? Not hybrid like the recently attempted engine, just aggressively ported RX-8 bits.
yes I plan on doing it in the future. check out keep it reet ( i think thats correct) he has a car with 2 13b's attached with a coupler like a mini driveshaft
Yea engines dust out very easily. I don't see it getting to 20k with open intake. Incoming air needs to be CLEAN if you want to keep max compression for thousands of miles.
Do you know if the 13b na that make 300 are using stock side ports or they p ported? If the are side ported, would love to see an example. 20bs have a big secondary port. This engine is using the REW primary ports which are smaller than the 20b ports.
I love how you and Rob Dahm have the same hobby just at 2 different levels, seeing you two interact would hopefully be a lot of fun hahaah
Now that's a well-sorted street 4 rotors. Extremely rare because every 3&4 rotors builds out there are just power chasing.
IF THERE'S NO PUERTORICANS AT THAT DYNO SESSION YOU MIGHT NEED ANOTHER ENGINE AFTER
😂🤣you right tho
Logan at Defined Autoworks is top notch wizardry with the rotarys. Him and the shop definitely don't get enough credibility for there work!

What a dream machine!
I bet 350 feels so good in an NA rotary 🔥
It does
Good job on explaining everything.
Sounds sosoooooooo goooodd 😍😍
if it didn't have a shitty sunroof it would be 10/10
That is so much noise for 350whp lol
If Jimi Hendrix played an air siren through a Marshall.... that's the sound of this car on the dyno...

It’s pretty poor tbh. My NA13B mildly ported makes 224WHP
@@unheimliche9410I thought it was pretty low as well but 350whp is great for a street car anyways, + that torque
Awesome video!!! I like the Hawaiian shirt guy 😮
I’m gonna wear a Hawaiian shirt next time.
sounds sooooo good
Being a little scary is part of what makes it fun, at least for me it does.
Mad Mike can't even drive his through the pits! 😂
Sounds amazing but it would be so much more usable with a quieter setup.
We have another setup that has a muffler on it.
Is this a different firing order or something? It lacks the typical 4 rotor scream, and sounds more like a Ferrari flat plane v8 to me
It's got a 4 into 2 into 1 header. So its a bit different i think because of that
I love it. I’d be so confused if I heard it in person, but I totally love it.
Exactly what I thought, and I'm glad I wasn't alone lol
A tuned Mini JCW at 400hp would be my choice.
I guestimated 365rwhp in the shorts video. Fix your fuel problem and you'll be right there. Hopefully that fuel pump isn't some Chinese knockoff.
Sheeeeeeeeesh....
So RAD

That's a cool idea! I've seen 12a 4 rotors ( online)
yes I plan on doing it in the future. check out keep it reet ( i think thats correct) he has a car with 2 13b's attached with a coupler like a mini driveshaft
How much timing is in it ?
At 100HP per rotor i guess you may go to 400Hp total at the engine so 350hp at the wheel
I guess 389 whp
Get an air cleaner on it before you ingest dust and ruin the 4 rotor. I would have thought you would have done this by now.
Yea engines dust out very easily. I don't see it getting to 20k with open intake. Incoming air needs to be CLEAN if you want to keep max compression for thousands of miles.
It has a filter on it, they just took it off to see how much more power it would make. Look at the start of the video, has a filter.
Damn that’s some very low power for a 4 rotor… like very inefficient. 13Bs NA can make 300hp. That’s even low power for a 20B NA… somethings not right
Do you know if the 13b na that make 300 are using stock side ports or they p ported? If the are side ported, would love to see an example.
20bs have a big secondary port. This engine is using the REW primary ports which are smaller than the 20b ports.
My 13B NA makes 260 wheel with street port and semi PP. lots of engines here in the rotary land New Zealand make 300hp on PP and Bridgeport
@@unheimliche9410 I can see how a semi pp and bridge port would make more than a street port.
Very low horsepower for a 4 rotor
How much horsepower does your 4 rotor make?
