The very first modification I made on my bike. The throttle response is much much better in my opinion. Thanks for posting, Marc - and a Happy New Year to You.
@@pauleedeehimself8489I can’t help you regarding your issue but you can hear the bike doesn’t run well at all with the DNA filter. I used it for a few days but the first quarter of the gas is really inconsistent, blipping got very difficult cause it runs lean and sometimes it turned off while blipping before a stop. It also lost a lot of engine braking. The sound with the filter is lovely but for the moment I feel it has too many downsides
If you are installing a DNA filter and better airbox, you need a straight through exhaust as well to get all the benefits. More air comes in through DNA filter, so you need straight through exhaust so gasses escape quicker.
It looks really easy to do maintenance on those bikes...and the sounds is amazing ! Who needs Akrapovic or Yoshimura when you can simply change an air filter !
Thanks for this review Marc. I read a lot about people fitting the DNA filter and saying that it didn't really make any difference other than the noise increasing. I feel that you always give an honest opinion in your videos and trust what you say, so I bought one and fitted it to my Bullet 350 yesterday. Got a chance to try it today (it rained all day yesterday) and it makes such a difference! The throttle response is much snappier and the engine feels a lot smoother. The extra growl from the intake noise is nice too. I'm going to add the Hitchcock's decat pipe next month as well to get that air flowing nicely.
I have ordered mine from Hitchcock and the gentleman did advice me to ride the bike for 15-20 minutes and go through gears instead of leaving idle so ecu can reprogram itself. Also if anyone is adding a decat pipe and silencer the ecu can cope but if cams are changed then need fuel x! 👍🏽
I know about the 12 minute tune that i used in some of my Triumphs so far but i didnt know that the same thing works on the classic. Is it proved that it helps, does any manual reccomends it? I have ordered a dna for my 350 and didnt want to intervene in electronics with a fuel x. Thanks!
Hi watched your video again as I’ve just bought the DNA filter for my classic 350 , it was expensive but worth it , i watched just to make sure I know how to fit it and you said it’s easy. Your bike definitely had a deeper sound and more raspy thankyou 👍🏍️
Marc, now the Hunter is a true CLASSIC!! I think, it breathes more, so running better, leading to an overall engine life extension! And of course, a better, classic sound! (P.S. don't forget to wear your ear plugs).
It definitely pulls harder with the Stage 2. One thing that i noticed immediately was the significant improvement to throttle response and touchiness. Killed a lot of dead spots on my classic and got rid of the laggy response. If you have a temp gun, check the heat coming from that header pipe. If it's blistering hot i would immediately get a Fuelx lite. I showed in my series just how much that device changes the temps from the exhaust alone. Near 400F to 250F (but i have a full exhaust on mine)
You are right, I had the same feeling. Runs smoother, no dead spots. At the moment I can not check the temp because we have -5° C in Berlin so the engine runs cool 😂 I already installed the Fuel X, engine runs even smoother, but the fuel consumption is higher. I did a video with an acceleration test with and without the DNA air filter. I checked your videos good work! subscribed ✌
@@Marc.Stones You have higher fuel consumption? Mines about the same depending on how spunky i feel that day. I get it, we have 2 feet of snow here in Michigan wind chill -20F. I should have snagged my GPS lap timer thing before i started my videos. But if i do a separate series on a Hunter or Scram at least I'll be covered lol. I subbed as well, take care man!
Do you know, you are the first bloke to give a sensible opinion of this air filter. For the sake of £94 in the UK, the DNA isn't worth bothering with for micro seconds and extra noise. I think you will find the FuelX has the same end findings. It may reduce the temperature but not worth invalidating warrantees. My only real criticism is you performed the tests in the wrong temperature conditions i.e freezing cold day rather than normal temperatures. I am pleased I have same a few hundred quid for a change in noise and no significant benefits. My bike doesn't have any engine bumps or lumps in its performance from starting to stopping. The 15 minutes idling is a load of rubbish to reprogram. Information is from a dealership who fitted one of these FuelX kits.
I have a fuel x on my meteor, it has significantly more power and better throttle response until you get to 60 mph and then you can feel the fuelling going its own way but thats down to the ECU which needs to be plugged in and given new parameters to get the best from the motor as the performance above 70 mph is restricted by the ECU
Changed the original spark plug to a ngk PLKR7A . Only the plug has a cap instead of M4 thread. I put the thread on myself but can also change the cap. It runs much smoother and better pickup. Always change my sparkplugs on my bikes. Original are mostly cost saving crap
Good vid Marc. First thing I did on my 350 classic . Bit noisy but In my opinion has made the bike breath way better, and as a plus Its worked out that the cleaning kit will service the filter twice if carefully used. Which is cheaper than buying two new OM filters. So for me its been a win win. Happy New year mate. Lee🍻
It's probably not quite that simple, but when I hear people say "it can breathe more easily" I know that more air on its own means leaner burning which isn't necessarily good, especially when Euro 5 already means lean burning. Am I right in thinking more air = more fuel as well, since the sensor will work out the mix appropriately?

Hey @Marc.Stones! Thank you so much for this video. I got inspired and did the same installation. However, my only concern is, can I ride my bike without any concern if I do not install the FuelX and a decat pipe?
@@retromotorbikesOk, but wouldn't the increased air flow result in added fuel to make the motor run slightly richer? Questsion is then how much more fuel it would take to balance the air-fuel mix.
@@uncletom1971 i think you and the person you’ve replied to are both right! ive heard that it essentially balances out with the richer consumption and new economy. so i wouldn’t say any noticeable difference i hope :)

I also had this problem and refitting the original filter switched the motor check light off. Is there a fix to enable the filter to be used without having the light come on?
"HIGH PERFORMANCE FILTERS" 🧐 I've seen a lot of videos about changing the air filter, they all say the performance will improve. But no one could measure or calculate, only words, only promises.....How much percet performance was increased exactly?
Dna filter and fuelx do not do anything, without proper engine tune. The engine only uses data from lambda sensors when you idel and are steady on the throttle, and adjust fueling acording to that to lower the emisions, the second you open the throttle it uses pre determined values that are fixed in the map, and then switches back to lambda as the throtle calms. So without real remaping, no filter, exaust, fuelx does not do anything. Filter and exaust changes the sound and fuelx increases fueling when computer is using the data from the lambda sensor so there is les jerkines and stall when acelerating. Been there used it all, not worth the money.
Thank you Marc! Very nice and useful video! I will make the same mod to my Classic 350. Happy 2024 🎉
