Hi, thank you for that video. I have installed the dna filter/cover and my ckassic and it is great ! now needs 2 starts to fire up. Any thought ? Thank you from Oregon ;)
Hello, thank you for the detailed video. I have a question. I asked my RE dealer if I could install the DNA filter and whether there could be any problems with the guarantee. He told me not to install it under any circumstances, the guarantee would be void! He said that the mixture would become leaner and the engine would overheat. I told DNA about this. They can't understand it and refer to dealers who deliver their motorcycles already converted. I then wrote to RE. RE in turn refers me to the dealers I want to go to. What can you say about this? Thank you!
Given that these modern ecu monitor and self adjust would the video not be improved by pointing out that a period of time idling will allow the process to take place? Otherwise a giid vid and eady upgrade.
Would be interested to see what difference the holy trinity of upgrades for the J-series engine in the form of a de-cat exhaust system, dna performance air filter and cover and the fuel X lite or pro would be
I have been informed by an expert that these fuel X ecu's are not worth bothering with and especially the pro version. If we need more speed or power, buy a bigger bike.
👍 I've fitted the kit as well and the difference is noticeable. Much more willing to rev and significantly more pull when going uphill. Worth every penny. Thanks to the guys at Hitchcocks for being helpful and honest whenever I have dealt with them. Now, how about a trials kit for the 350 reborn 😅
So May I know what happens if we keep the stock air filter cover and replace the stock air filter with DNA air filter? Can you let us know the results?
Good question! Whilst some of our test bikes are very fresh looking in appearance, they do go through a running in procedure on the dyno before any proper testing. When running in the engine, the important part is not to "lug" the engine and the dyno use is very kind on it in that respect.
Good to see the engine on a dyno, but come on guys, you didn't show any AFR info the most important aspect of tuning. What we really need is this airbox mod, an open pipe and an AFR corrected remap. Surely that can be done? OK, the ECU is locked but that doesn't stop any of the thousands of other vehicles being remapped with the right tool. I bet this engine could achieve at least 2-3hp in the right hands and the speed limiter removed. We don't want 90mph, just smooth torque up to 80mph tops with easily reached 70mph cruising. 😀👍
Have you fitted an uprated cam to this machine yet? Seems to be a worthwhile job on the classic, dont know if they shared the same cam profile originally?
The Hunter shares the same standard camshaft as the 350 Classic, and fitting the stage 2 camshaft will give very similar performance improvements across the whole 350 J platform range.
I love the look of the Hunter and would buy one tomorrow, except for one thing, not enough power!!! Has anyone done the filter, exhaust, cam and ecu and done a rolling road test with the power number? If 30 bhp or close is possible, I'd pull the pin and buy one.
I know what you are saying, reaching 30HP is far too ambitious. Hondas latest 350cc scooter only has 28hp at 7,500rpm where the 350 Enfield is 20hp at 6100rpm.
@@quentinbush I was thinking that the new Triumph speed 400 is 40bhp, then it might be feasible to poke the Enfield up to 30, even though it's air-cooled and just 2 valve. Even if that was possible though, the cost is looking prohibitive, and it's making it close to the price of the Triumph anyway. So the common sense choice has to be the Triumph, which has a better spec, handling and suspension. Ultimately, for me, 20bhp just isn't enough.
@@turboslag I sat on the Triumph 400 speed, it felt exactly the same height and width as the Enfield, much softer rear suspension but only a side stand. I liked its service intervals being every 10,000 miles through being water cooled. It requires higher revs for the torque when the Enfield develops it earlier and is more forgiving through the gearbox. The Triumph comes with good reviews but speaking to a Triumph owner 'they' said they have had issues with Triumphs unlike nothing with the Enfields. The Triumph does look a nicer motorcycle but costs quite a lot more. At the end of the day, it's what you prefer.
I am seriously considering buying this filter kit off your selves but do i risk water entering the airbox if ridden in wet conditions and will it make the fuel air ratio even leaner than it all ready is thus making it run hotter, can anyone answer these questions 😢
This is the only issue I have, despite having installed it anyway. It's a hot + lean running engine, and I'm on the highway way more than I'd like to be. I wish there was a way to cool it further, even if it means remapping for speeds above 50mph.
@@MagicRoosterBluesBand I did that like 4 months ago. Helps bring rpms down by about 400 rpm. Fine for cruising at 55mph, but above 60-65 it's still high (5800 at 65 I believe). I ordered a new smaller sprocket for the rear (2 teeth down) to basically get it to a point I want it to be at. NOW... disclaimer incoming: I KNOW that it doesn't reeeeeally have the power to push both of those, or at least, so they say. But I'm going to do it when it comes in and see how it is. I've got a Greenhorn ride from LA to Yuma, AZ coming up, and I'm sure they're all going to take the highway.. so I truly cannot burn this little engine up 500 miles from home just trying to maintain 65 with everyone else (who I know will be doing 75+). Poor little thumper just wasn't meant for this, but it's all I have at the moment.
I added scented pads Tim to my hunter definitely improved the front. The back was probably a waste of money. Could’ve just left the organic pads on there probably preferred the organic pads.
Over 10% increase just from a performance Air filter hmmmm🕵 That sounds good and I'd like to believe that, I would still have a hard time believing that if the mundified the exhaust as well, however I'm use to working on bigger engines so maybe smaller ones react differently, just my thoughts and trust me I don't know that much so don't take my word for it.
I think it just shows how restrictive the original plate is mate, they do it to meet epa and sound laws across the world. So if some countries are very strict that’s what they go with, rather than making different plates.
I'd love to do a blind test for one of these Enfield owners, some of the comments suggesting it makes overtaking more viable etc - I'm not convinced, surely a NA engine's air intake is governed by the timing? It can only suck in so much air, as part of a cam rework etc - maybe.
I bought the DNA kit and had the same thoughts. But it works! I put the DNA filter kit on my Meteor 350 and the performance is much better; can climb hills faster and hit top speed quicker (75 mph). It is louder when you open up the throttle, but about the same noise as stock when idling.
No it does't. When you install the kit you turn on the motorcycle, leave it running for 12, 15 minutes and the ECU will understand for itself what is happening and you can ride it and have fun. But if you remap it in a dyno it will run better.
@@RoleMaisLongowhere did you get the information about letting it idle for 15 minutes, it doesn't tell you in the dna instructions ,do you not think if you should do it hitchcocks would have mentioned it, its just so called Internet/experts saying this, and upto now it's impossible to remap the ecu
@@hunterrider349 It´s not remap, it´s how the ECU owworks. If you don't wan't to do it, you're free. But please serch manual os ECUs, study how they work and you will see who is right. The airflow sensor just sends a different flow reading to the ecu, which adjusts the fuel mixture. My concern with oiled filters is that fine bits of oil can accumulate on the airflow sensor which can affect its function, and sometimes cause it to prematurely fail. K&N filters do the same thing. I only run the oiled filters on carbureted engines, as that oil won’t ruin the carb, like it can on a hot wire MAF sensor.
This only tells part of story, does the ecu recalibrate the air/fuel ratio ?, I would have liked to have seen before and after fueling, I'm concerned with this set up it's going to be running extremely lean
If it was running to weak you would notice a decrease in acceleration, rough running and it would probably eat Spark Plugs. I have the filter kits fitted to both my Meteor 350 and Classic 350. 8,000 miles Meteor and 6,000 miles Classic 350. They do make a significant difference. A company the size and reputation of DNA aren't going to market a product that is potentially going to backfire on them and will have done their homework and testing before releasing to the market.👍

Hey guys! I wanted your opinion on installing only the DNA air filter (without fuelx and a decat pipe) on my classic 350 reborn. This won’t affect the engine negatively, right?
My biking goes back 50 years and the only way to make more performance is by adding more fuel to create a bigger bang or now days a simple remap. This Hitchcocks 1.5hp upgrade may not be worth the cost involved? I say this as nobody will notice such a small gain on what is a heavy motorcycle and varying climate changes and remember more noise can give false beliefs in performance upgrades.
I have a Meteor 350 and my commute involves 20 miles of dual/triple carriageway A-roads. Fitting the filter plate gave it more top-end grunt. Acceleration from 60 mph was notably improved and holding speed up inclines or into headwinds was far easier. The bike will reliably hit the limiter at 75mph whereas before this was very wind dependant. That said, if you are a B road Sunday rider I don't think you'll see much benefit. The induction noise is notably louder too.
@@XtalQRP I'll say again without more fuel, you'll never achieve more performance the bike is controlled by the ECU and until that is modified nothing changes.
IMO not worth it to effectively halve your air filtering for a marginal gain in power. Paper filters are cheap and very effective and Enfield designed the bike with a specific level of air flow in mind. It's not like they accidentally added an airbox and filter that restricts airflow after designing the rest of the engine.
I put the DNA filter kit on my Meteor 350 and the performance is much better; can climb hills faster and hit top speed quicker. It is louder when you open up the throttle, but about the same noise as stock when idling. If that's not worth it to you then don't do it.
We are not talking jet turbine air inputs here, the risk of picking up any damaging particulate matter to get into this engine is nil. If riders are really worried, fine legging covering the hole will suffice. Very small particulates will not damage this engine as some 'high performance' engines have straight through venturi. The absence of an air filter will increase its lower end horse power and is a saving of £94. Electronic fuel injection will supply the correct fuel amounts.
@@johnrocker2986 Hiya. It sounds like the filter kit gets you to the top speed quicker, so if you do want a bit more pep from your bike it might not be a waste of money. As for why nobody has worked out how to remap the ECU, I bet someone somewhere has, but I haven't heard about it. TBH these aren't meant to be fast bikes - if speed was very important to you I'm sure you'd buy something else anyway.
If you want a more powerful bike just buy a more powerful bike. The difference is negilble and wont make any difference in the real world for what this bike would be generally used for. Its ok for those who have to tinker for the sake of it and screw their bike up as consequence. Dont get fooled by all this bollocks
I put the DNA filter kit on my Meteor 350 and the performance is much better; can climb hills faster and hit top speed quicker (75mph). For me, worth it. The bike has too much air restrictions to meet emission standards. This makes it run as it should.

Hi, thank you for that video. I have installed the dna filter/cover and my ckassic and it is great ! now needs 2 starts to fire up. Any thought ? Thank you from Oregon ;)
Hello sir...Can india order hunter accessories?
Hitchcocks, could you please develop a decat downpipe for the hunter , thanks
I’m thinking of getting one for my Hunter , but will it affect my warranty??
Hello, thank you for the detailed video. I have a question. I asked my RE dealer if I could install the DNA filter and whether there could be any problems with the guarantee. He told me not to install it under any circumstances, the guarantee would be void! He said that the mixture would become leaner and the engine would overheat. I told DNA about this. They can't understand it and refer to dealers who deliver their motorcycles already converted. I then wrote to RE. RE in turn refers me to the dealers I want to go to. What can you say about this? Thank you!
Would it not be easier to "Dremel" out the shnorkel? in the same shape and size as the new DNA filter?
Given that these modern ecu monitor and self adjust would the video not be improved by pointing out that a period of time idling will allow the process to take place? Otherwise a giid vid and eady upgrade.
Cold engine, start and let idle 15 minutes. Done.
For Meteor 350 the increase is just " DNA Increased Air Flow: +4.82% " so buying an air filter is a waste of money.
My concern would be what effect any oil mist sucked in from the filter could have on the airflow sensor?
So May I know what happens if we keep the stock air filter cover and replace the stock air filter with DNA air filter? Can you let us know the results?
Clearly a brand new bike. Are you not worried about revving the balls off it, or am I worrying too much about running mine in properly?
Good question! Whilst some of our test bikes are very fresh looking in appearance, they do go through a running in procedure on the dyno before any proper testing. When running in the engine, the important part is not to "lug" the engine and the dyno use is very kind on it in that respect.
Hi can you please give an idea after installation of dna air filter, what is the mileage now?
Good to see the engine on a dyno, but come on guys, you didn't show any AFR info the most important aspect of tuning. What we really need is this airbox mod, an open pipe and an AFR corrected remap. Surely that can be done? OK, the ECU is locked but that doesn't stop any of the thousands of other vehicles being remapped with the right tool. I bet this engine could achieve at least 2-3hp in the right hands and the speed limiter removed. We don't want 90mph, just smooth torque up to 80mph tops with easily reached 70mph cruising. 😀👍
What about fuel consumption, I have heard that the news there is not good?
One question, do we need to run the bike for 5-15 minutes to allow the ECR to reprogram? Other videos do mention this. Please clarify. Thank you!
Do you guys send to brazil?
Always amazes me why manufacturers don’t fit these as standard.
It's disabling the speed limiter that I'm interested in
Do you made this dyno test with the Decat pipe?
Couldn’t you just cut the snorkel off the cover, Burt Munro style. Same thing right?
Good luck with that.
yup, I did that and it works really well
Have you fitted an uprated cam to this machine yet? Seems to be a worthwhile job on the classic, dont know if they shared the same cam profile originally?
The Hunter shares the same standard camshaft as the 350 Classic, and fitting the stage 2 camshaft will give very similar performance improvements across the whole 350 J platform range.
What about the milage? Is it noticeable?
Can I use Dna Stage 2 filters with stock exhaust for my Classic Reborn ?
Yes, the DNA stage 2 is suitable to use with the stock exhaust system on the 350 Reborn.
Does it change fuel consumption? If yes, how much? Thanks in advance for your answer.
Little to no change.
Y el consumo aumento imagino y cuanto aumenta el consumo cada 100kms...no me acaba de convencer
Is there a problem with water getting in as you eliminate the snorkel cover ?
Good point!!
Thanks !@@michaelmurdock4607
My doubt too
I love the look of the Hunter and would buy one tomorrow, except for one thing, not enough power!!! Has anyone done the filter, exhaust, cam and ecu and done a rolling road test with the power number? If 30 bhp or close is possible, I'd pull the pin and buy one.
Some have, (done all 4) yes. But the power difference is usually just about 10 hp from what I've read.
I know what you are saying, reaching 30HP is far too ambitious. Hondas latest 350cc scooter only has 28hp at 7,500rpm where the 350 Enfield is 20hp at 6100rpm.
@@quentinbush
I was thinking that the new Triumph speed 400 is 40bhp, then it might be feasible to poke the Enfield up to 30, even though it's air-cooled and just 2 valve.
Does this make the bike run even leaner than it already was?
I would like to know the answer to that as well. Does the efi adjust it out?
@@robedmunds7163it should, as there should be a mass air flow sensor that will sense the improved air flow and adjust the fueling accordingly.
@@derekgrant2324 I use full synthetic Motul 15-50w oil. Seems to help. Maybe change to a 16 tooth front sprocket for highways?
I would bet that this with upgraded cam and fuelx or an actual tune will guarantee 20 wheel hp
Do you recommend fuel x with filter plate and decat? Or do you recommend any set up for classic 350 2024
I 3D printed my own 🙂
How ?
@@Legionrider With a 3D printer I own.
can you send to me a file?
But you're still using a paper filter. You're half way there.
is that 5 miles more at top speed ? from 0 to 65 miles 5 sec les ?
Is your test done with stock exhaust and cat still in place?
Hello, yes, the bike is completely standard for this test including the stock exhaust system which has the cat in place.
Any torque numbers available?
Isn’t roughly 25% loss between the engine and the wheel a bit much?
so it improves the grunt and pickup by around 10 percent , can you also suggest better disc pads to i prove stopping bite?
I added scented pads Tim to my hunter definitely improved the front. The back was probably a waste of money. Could’ve just left the organic pads on there probably preferred the organic pads.
@@EdgeMasterPro thanks for the feedback
Just buying a new 350 bullet.
Should I complete running in period using stock filter before I upgrade to DNA filter and possibly decat pipe?
Hello, we have many customers fit these upgrades straight to their new bike, and this should give you any issues.
@@HitchcocksMotorcycles Should? Or shouldn't give you any issues?
Does this affect the normal functioning of the ECU or general working of the bike in a bad way?
It checks the exaust fumes and the intake and check the results with the map, if you let it working for some time it will stabilish a better calculation. And Hitchcocks is puting the bike on a dyno. If you don't wan't to do it, you're free. But please serch manual os ECUs, study how they work and you will see who is right. And it´s not impossible to remap REs ECU, there´s no dongle on them, you just have to let the right professional to do it.
@@RoleMaisLongo people have tried too unlock the Royal enfield ecu and it's been locked so well to make it tamper proof no one has managed yet, I suggest you go on the unofficial Royal enfield community forum, a guy on there called Ad Ben has fitted the dna kit and fuel x on the dyno and the result were it's running very lean at the top end, so no not all ecu's re calibrate
This only tells part of story, does the ecu recalibrate the air/fuel ratio ?, I would have liked to have seen before and after fueling, I'm concerned with this set up it's going to be running extremely lean
j'aimerai bien avoir une réponse , car les concessions en Belgique me le déconseil , ils me dise que la carburation sera plus pauvre !!!
That is my thoughts
If it was running to weak you would notice a decrease in acceleration, rough running and it would probably eat Spark Plugs. I have the filter kits fitted to both my Meteor 350 and Classic 350. 8,000 miles Meteor and 6,000 miles Classic 350. They do make a significant difference. A company the size and reputation of DNA aren't going to market a product that is potentially going to backfire on them and will have done their homework and testing before releasing to the market.👍
@@jonathandeeley6276maybe, but they should have covered it in the video
The air flow sensor should tell the ecu to adjust the fueling automatically.
thanks are you going to fit cam upgrade and do a dyno run
There's already a video of that.

Hi thanx for ur advice... Just need to ask if I install this filter, do I need to replace stock engine oil to good performance engine oil ?
There is no need to fit any sort of performance engine oil to this engine.
@@HitchcocksMotorcycles thank u so much 🙏🏼
I need givi tail
will the dna filter lean out the motor....any carb adj. to be done....
Why do you think it has carbs? Fuel injection. And engine management should take care of fuel mixture.
i think just more manny for ?????
Hey guys!
I wanted your opinion on installing only the DNA air filter (without fuelx and a decat pipe) on my classic 350 reborn. This won’t affect the engine negatively, right?
Wouldn't hurt at all.
My biking goes back 50 years and the only way to make more performance is by adding more fuel to create a bigger bang or now days a simple remap. This Hitchcocks 1.5hp upgrade may not be worth the cost involved? I say this as nobody will notice such a small gain on what is a heavy motorcycle and varying climate changes and remember more noise can give false beliefs in performance upgrades.
agreed - I think there's more placebo than performance
I have a Meteor 350 and my commute involves 20 miles of dual/triple carriageway A-roads. Fitting the filter plate gave it more top-end grunt. Acceleration from 60 mph was notably improved and holding speed up inclines or into headwinds was far easier. The bike will reliably hit the limiter at 75mph whereas before this was very wind dependant. That said, if you are a B road Sunday rider I don't think you'll see much benefit. The induction noise is notably louder too.
It's the percentage increase that's relevant. 1.5 hp sounds like nothing but a 10% improvement is significant and noticeable.
@@jeremymead8546 Placebo effect, you've probably lost weight or had wind assistance?
@@XtalQRP I'll say again without more fuel, you'll never achieve more performance the bike is controlled by the ECU and until that is modified nothing changes.
What about the limited top speed
The Hunter model does not have the speed limiter, but this upgrade is to improve the acceleration across the range.
I have a Enfield intersepter i don't have a DNA filter and my bike runs fine..
However it makes my hunter 350cc more responsive
IMO not worth it to effectively halve your air filtering for a marginal gain in power. Paper filters are cheap and very effective and Enfield designed the bike with a specific level of air flow in mind. It's not like they accidentally added an airbox and filter that restricts airflow after designing the rest of the engine.
Your missing the point , think about it .
@@JIMWSMITH I am thinking about it, I think that's the issue!
You're not halving your air filtering. What makes you think that ??
I put the DNA filter kit on my Meteor 350 and the performance is much better; can climb hills faster and hit top speed quicker. It is louder when you open up the throttle, but about the same noise as stock when idling. If that's not worth it to you then don't do it.
Is there a big bore kit for these bikes yet? I can't stand to ride mine. Or should I just sell it?
Not yet but there is an uprated camshaft...

Why did you buy it, knowing how it performs?
👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
We are not talking jet turbine air inputs here, the risk of picking up any damaging particulate matter to get into this engine is nil. If riders are really worried, fine legging covering the hole will suffice. Very small particulates will not damage this engine as some 'high performance' engines have straight through venturi. The absence of an air filter will increase its lower end horse power and is a saving of £94. Electronic fuel injection will supply the correct fuel amounts.
Lovely bike but RE should have made this bike at least be able to go 120kmh
I test rode a 350cc Classic recently. It did 75mph on the motorway, that's 120kmph. The ECU stops it going faster. 👍
@@julianroberts7116 why waste money on filter kits if speed is restricted by the ECU, why has nobody found a way of remapping the ECU.

It's all relative to where you start from.

I live in Cambodia and going over 100km/h per hour here is suicidal. So depends what you want to do and where you live. Slightly modified (DNA , Luggage rack and lean) it's perfect for travel here.
