Thanks for doing the comparative testing. I have a 2022 meteor fireball and found that the engine took 2000 km to free up. It kept improving even up to 3000 km. It is fantastic as a tourer and a frequent use town motorcycle. Its comfort zone is 80 to 90 kmh. If you need a bike that comfortably cruises at 100 to 120 then best to go with a bigger bike. Marc I just looked at my last stats on fill up. I’ve got 11,000km on my 350 now, last fuel up was 6.9 litres @242km on trip A. So that’s 35km per litre or 2.85 litres / 100km. A range of 480km is really good touring, I’ve done some good trips on mine, loaded up with camping gear and still plenty of room for comfort. I was looking to buy the alloy wheels and heidenau k60 scouts too, same reason for ease of roadside repair when touring! Love your videos, cheers, Rick from Oz.

Hi Marc, interesting video, thank you. If it's of any interest to you, I have the Hunter 350 and I check the fuel consumption, quite accurately, every time I fill up. People first need to know how engine works. The computer will adjust fuel to air mix only when you idle or steady on the throtle. In this case the computer is using data from lambda sensor and adjust for emisions and consumption, not performance. Every time you open the throttle the computer switches to pre determined map, and lambda sensor is not used, thus dna filter and fuelx are waste of money. Only way to realy add performance and make use of mods added is to remap the engine.
I think your document holder is restricting the DNA filter. I took that out. Also the engine does not loosen up properly until 12 to 15 hundred miles have been reached. These types of mods shouldn’t be used until fully run in. After run in, the results are significantly different.

Thank you for the video. Please answer if you can? I have seen quite a few of the 350’s with fuelX . The comment is always made supposed to optimize the fuel. The question is to what fuel target ratio? Otherwise it’s just dumping fuel , which I assume is probably 5-10% richer is my guess?? The ECM dies not calibrate to the filter. You will see dirt and dust that passes the filter. That’s what goes in your engine. Also the original cover reduces water and debris from entering . The only thing I would do is a booster plug. Nothing else. I agree in this case staying stock. Enjoy that beautiful bike and save that money that in most cases gets you next to nothing in performance.
It is written on the fuel X website: "FuelX Lite comes with 1 Autotune Map which auto adjusts based on the mods, weather, altitude and riding style - FuelX smartly adapts to variations in riding style and engine characteristics, as well as to add-ons such as exhaust and air-filter" I reinstalled the original air filter with the original cover, I don't know, if you get dirt and dust inside the engine with the DNA air filter, I think the build quality is very high and you are able to clean and oil it. :-)
The guys at Hitchcock mentioned to start riding when you install dna air filter and go through all the gears etc for 15-20 mins for the ecu to calibrate new readings and not leave in idle sitting there for 15 minutes as it’s only getting readings of idle. They also mentioned fuel x is not needed as ecu can cope with just air filter and exhaust change.
When I added the fuel X on my hunter, what I noticed very quickly over leaving it stock was how it smoothed the bit of jerkiness of the throttle on off. It feels a little more refined. Also have the DNA filter and it is a great combo in my opinion. As soon as there are a few more options for a full exhaust, that is what I will do next to see the difference from stock.
So individual adjustments or modifications will feel minute however when you combine a number of modifications the bike will start feeling better and you will notice some added acceleration and performance. Most people prefer to install a fuelx system, Dna stage 2 filter, new camshaft, cat delete, exhaust, shocks and struts. All these combine give you a noticeable improvement in performance. Its more of an added torque and acceleration and will not at to top end speed because the speed limiter still keeps max speed at 75 mph.
I couldn't make out the brand of panniers on your Classic. They look great with your upgraded seat. I also have faster bikes, so I'll be keeping my 350 in it's stock form. 👍👍5🏍🙋♂️
The panniers are from Hepco & Becker. The Classic 350 is very good in the stock settings, I also had no problems before customization, great bike for cruising. ✌
@@Marc.Stones Great video. I am awaiting delivery of a 2023 Classic and was considering the DNA filter and the FuelX. It is good to see real world data with those mods installed. On the Hitchcock site I see there are two FuelX modules, Lite and the Pro. I will be buying panniers and your look terrific. Years ago I had Hepco & Becker on my BMW airhead and they look fabulous on the Classic. What kind of mounting hardware do they require and are they available from H & B or Royal Enfield? Thanks again.
Regarding the fuel consumption - Keep in mind you ran the bike at idle for 10 minutes x 2 twice. Once for the DNA filter & I assume again for the standard filter. That's 20 minutes of idling. Then you did several hard acceleration speed runs. I think you should test KPL under normal riding conditions. To compare Fuel Lite with standard. Anyways - love the clip - great work.
I got my fuel x lite installed recently on my classic 350. I waited to complete several road trips before I reach a conclusion and by now I’m pretty sure that it’s a complete waste of money. I feel that it dulls the engine response. So yes at low gears the throttle is a bit less jerky but also the bike is less “peppy” overall. Better save your time and money.
Hallo Marc!
Induction improvements will only occur when the exhaust flow is increased. They are all one flow path and out makes more effect than in. Remove the Cat, then the K&N filter will maybe help They are good filters that flow better overall. Keep the stock cover it is quiet that is the point the other one is just for the placebo effect as you say it makes it louder. Great review thanks for the show. Fuel X makes it run richer so smoother. All bikes do better running rich but ya the economy goes away. I let my Z1000 stumble along lean it goes when I want it to.
@danielleclare2938 Prince charming! Yes, you indeed do need to change the camshaft and valve timings to get any noticeable improvements in top end performance. I've decatted several bikes...Great for weight saving and extra noise!
I recommend modifying fuel and air for just two cases. You installed an after market cam and decatted it for more power. You installed a side car, excluding the air filter, the FuelX will allow you to run more fuel to help the engine be cooler under the heavier load.
My dealer tells me I do not lose the warranty at least where I take mine. Especially as it runs significantly cooler. You need to also update whole exhaust system with larger bore front pipe, including mods you did to make a noticeable difference. Mine runs lovely and is definitely faster.

i tested the acceleration of my bike before i got the dna filter, and have since tested with the DNA filter and noticed a significant difference. however i didn’t test it the way you did, DNA then back to stock. loud sound placebo could be likely, although i put music on in my helmet headset to drown it out, and still felt a significant change in the throttle when no longer focusing on the bikes sound. Additionally, my brother rides a significantly lighter 300cc bike himself, and i was more than able to keep up for the first time since i’ve ridden.
The single biggest performance mod you can do to the classic 350, is to install the Hitchcock hi-lift cam, which gives a significant increase in horse power.
On my Hunter 350 (what is the same J serie's engine) i put a DNA air filter , stage two camshaft from Hitchcock motocycles , got rid of the cat. converter and put the new free flow muffler( it is not loud at all ) for the hunter from hitchcock on and the result is very good , i can almost keep up with my mate's KLR 650 (if needed) from zero to 100km per hour (60/65 miles per hour ) over that speed the KLR is faster (it would not be good if it was not , right ?) oh yeah the KLR does zero to 100km in about 6 seconds and my hunter 350 is not far off .and the fuel consumption is now if you ride it quick but not to fast ( not over 115 km per hour)is 1 liter petrol on 33km . i think that is not to bad , right ? oh yes i am talking from zero to 100 km per hour not from zero to 80 km per hour .
How wait until you’ve done 3 or 4000km. On your clock. I’ve got a 350 meteor with DNA filter and open airbox plus fuel x pro also fitted a Kent camshaft an under normal riding I get over 300 mls to a tank full that’s about almost 500km an reach 60mph. In third gear. Oh yeah, an a 16 tooth front sprocket 😎💪
Forgot to mention@@Marc.Stones I’ve also reduced a lot of weight by fitting an aftermarket exhaust, solo seat no centre stand an no luggage rack so reduced the weight by some 16kg. 😎
I’d be interested in seeing a test at highway speeds, the bike consumes a huge amount when you have the throttle pinned, I’m wondering if that’s reduced. I saw a dyno test that showed the air filter adding 1.5 hp to the bike right at the high end of rpm, I think your shifting is sitting lower in the range and therefore no benefit is seen
Something is wrong in my opinion. Look, You have more air flow for sure. You have an electronic device which understand air to fuel ratio and can adopt engine characteristics. All these have to bring the change in performance.
Couple things to note. 1. Going off the speedo is not an accurate way to tell if there is any improvement. The speedometer is always off by 3mph here in the US so i imagine it being worse being KPM. 2. You have to use some sort of device that accurately tracks speed. I use a dragy and it shows my exact speed and even if im on flat ground. It shows a stupid amount of information to be able to tell if any of the modifications work vs just going off of a speedo. When i tested out my classic it hit 0-60mph in 12 seconds or under. VS stock being noted as 14 to 15 seconds
It's a comparison. The time taken until the needle reaches 80 kph to see if one configuration is quicker than the other. As long as the speedometer reading is repeatable then the actual speed achieved or the inaccuracy of the speedo is irrelevant.
@@stevef8065 It actually seems to have both a rev limiter an it will cut power based on wheel speed measured by the ABS rings. The bike is not running in to the Rev limiter in high gear an stops pulling at the same speed if if you change gear ratios. (sprocket size)
Hi Marc, I find my 350 is perfect on motorways for 110kph but occasionally when it meets an incline or headwind, struggles to stay at 90kph. Does the filter and fuel x combo remedy this so i can keep her at s xonstsnt 110kph?
The medicine for that specific situation is as far as I`ve understood it: The Hitchcocks performance camshaft. It improves torque above 3000RPM in all gears. So you should see more power and higher average speed available when climbing an incline and in headwind.
Hello from Canada 🇨🇦… while I’m not a speedster, I do have a question about the bike’s capabilities when facing any situation where you need to get out of the way . So in other words can it get out of its way considering its weight to horse power ratio? Thank you 🙏
Hi, the acceleration should be good enough to get out of many situations, but of course it is no racer. The acceleration of my Vespa Gts 300 is better :-) Cheers Marc
Fuelx is wasted money. The air filter DNA TESTED brings 2 hp on my hunter. That's 10% . However it is a bit louder, but when traveling 80 km/h in 5 th you don't really hear it. Exalleration is clearly better in higher gears. Fuel X is wasted money. Cam and 16 sprocket is next. Adds another 4-5 hp . So ap. 26 hp. I rode a friend's hunter and it easy reaches 130 kmh and smoothly runs at 120 km/h . Too fast for Cambodia roads . Traveling speed 70-90 km/h max if not suicidal. ❤
Thanks for pointing out that both mods do nothing, or almost nothing. If you can not clearly tell the difference, and you are not sure you can measure any difference, then there *is* no difference.
the air filter is actually useful regardless. better quality, and the sound is great too. even if the difference in performance isn’t noticeable. personally i noticed it instantly when i used my own. i say let people try it out and try get the best from their bike :)
Marc, why don't you just sell it for a faster bike? Like an Interceptor or something? Acceleration and top speed aren't what this bike is about is it? I think you've bought the wrong bike my friend. Just sayin'....

It is written on the fuel X website: "FuelX Lite comes with 1 Autotune Map which auto adjusts based on the mods, weather, altitude and riding style - FuelX smartly adapts to variations in riding style and engine characteristics, as well as to add-ons such as exhaust and air-filter"
I reinstalled the original air filter with the original cover, I don't know, if you get dirt and dust inside the engine with the DNA air filter, I think the build quality is very high and you are able to clean and oil it. :-)
Very interesting conclusions Marc ... and fair play for going out in -5 degrees! 🥶
Thanks Ken ✌️
The guys at Hitchcock mentioned to start riding when you install dna air filter and go through all the gears etc for 15-20 mins for the ecu to calibrate new readings and not leave in idle sitting there for 15 minutes as it’s only getting readings of idle. They also mentioned fuel x is not needed as ecu can cope with just air filter and exhaust change.
Thanks for the feedback 👍
When I added the fuel X on my hunter, what I noticed very quickly over leaving it stock was how it smoothed the bit of jerkiness of the throttle on off. It feels a little more refined. Also have the DNA filter and it is a great combo in my opinion. As soon as there are a few more options for a full exhaust, that is what I will do next to see the difference from stock.
@@Marc.Stones no worries, lovely review as always enjoy watching and very brave of you riding in this weather
@@georgewashington687 There is a U mount from Hepco & Becker for the Royal Enfield Classic 350 available.
Regarding the fuel consumption -
Keep in mind you ran the bike at idle for 10 minutes x 2 twice.
I don't think the air filter itself is louder. It's the lack of the air filter cover. The conspiracies of motorcyclists know no bounds.
That‘s right it‘s because of the open air filter cover of the DNA filter set. Bigger opening more intake noise. ✌️
Hallo Marc!
@@Marc.Stones ✌️😉👍🇨🇵
Hi Marc, congratulations on your videos, they are very interesting and well done
Thanks a lot Francesco :-)
So DNA is only sound but without Fuel x is some acceleration difference?
Next try the Hitchcock's cam. It's a real game changer.
Thanks for your feedback and tipps :-)
? There's a great big compressor between the inlet and exhaust but yes the cat does restrict flow
Congrats on a useless comment. Ever heard of valve overlap and inertia??? Time to broaden your horizions. @@nikoscosmos
@danielleclare2938 Prince charming!
Yes, you indeed do need to change the camshaft and valve timings to get any noticeable improvements in top end performance. I've decatted several bikes...Great for weight saving and extra noise!
Saving weight is free horsepower. I agree. Lose 10 lbs go faster. @@nikoscosmos
Thanks for your feedback ✌
The DNA air filter gives 10% more power on the dyno, so it makes a lot of difference. You are brave going out in those temperatures.
keep the fuel x/dna filter and get a decat pipe ... makes the engine run cooler .Allows it to breath lasts longer , runs smoother
A negative point, you lose the warranty.
also with the dna filter?
Not really
Just remove add on and restore to factory.
Nice vid! I wanna get a Classic Chrome Bronze like yours! How do you take care of the chrome parts? Do you have any special products for it?
Hi Matheus, I use this : amzn.to/3SpXK6K To protect the chrome I use amzn.to/3vRvjpb
Good job!!!🤠
Thanks for this test ..😊
Thanks :-)
i tested the acceleration of my bike before i got the dna filter, and have since tested with the DNA filter and noticed a significant difference.
however i didn’t test it the way you did, DNA then back to stock.
loud sound placebo could be likely, although i put music on in my helmet headset to drown it out, and still felt a significant change in the throttle when no longer focusing on the bikes sound.
Additionally, my brother rides a significantly lighter 300cc bike himself, and i was more than able to keep up for the first time since i’ve ridden.
Thanks for your feedback. ✌
The single biggest performance mod you can do to the classic 350, is to install the Hitchcock hi-lift cam, which gives a significant increase in horse power.
Love your videos Marc! Thanks!
Wow what an interesting acceleration test! I wonder why you did not measure it to 76.5 kmh that would make much more sense for all
On my Hunter 350 (what is the same J serie's engine) i put a DNA air filter , stage two camshaft from Hitchcock motocycles , got rid of the cat. converter and put the new free flow muffler( it is not loud at all ) for the hunter from hitchcock on and the result is very good , i can almost keep up with my mate's KLR 650 (if needed) from zero to 100km per hour (60/65 miles per hour ) over that speed the KLR is faster (it would not be good if it was not , right ?) oh yeah the KLR does zero to 100km in about 6 seconds and my hunter 350 is not far off .and the fuel consumption is now if you ride it quick but not to fast ( not over 115 km per hour)is 1 liter petrol on 33km . i think that is not to bad , right ? oh yes i am talking from zero to 100 km per hour not from zero to 80 km per hour .
Seems the camshaft with the exhaust is a good modification to increase the performance. Did you changed the air filter and installed the Fuel X too?
@@Marc.Stones yes the DNA air filter was the first thing i did , no fuel x yet , but i will soon

Very informative video, thank you from a new subscriber😊
Thanks for subscribing 👍🏻😎
Thanks for saving me $250! (the money I would have spent on the two items).
I think the Classic 350 is very good in stock settings, you will have a lot of fun with it. Maybe better spend the money on a nice road trip 👍🏻
Sounds interesting, I am curious to see how the Classic 350 rides after 400 miles. Thanks for your feedback ✌️
Forgot to mention@@Marc.Stones I’ve also reduced a lot of weight by fitting an aftermarket exhaust, solo seat no centre stand an no luggage rack so reduced the weight by some 16kg. 😎
Thanks!
Thanks for your support Patrick ✌️🙏🏻
The only things that are works well - are the decat pipe and air filter open cover! IMHO...😀
Thank you
I wish someone did these types of test for duke 250 aswell with those mods
Good video❤
Does the upgrades increase top speed?
No, the Classic 350 has a speed limiter.
@@Marc.Stones Honestly I have never heard of a speed limiter, do you mean a rev limiter?
Yes, I meant a rev limiter. 🤓
@@stevef8065 It actually seems to have both a rev limiter an it will cut power based on wheel speed measured by the ABS rings. The bike is not running in to the Rev limiter in high gear an stops pulling at the same speed if if you change gear ratios. (sprocket size)
@@RebelCowboysRVs totaly correct
Hi Marc, I find my 350 is perfect on motorways for 110kph but occasionally when it meets an incline or headwind, struggles to stay at 90kph. Does the filter and fuel x combo remedy this so i can keep her at s xonstsnt 110kph?
The DNA Air filter helps a bit, but mine struggles also at inclines or headwind.
The medicine for that specific situation is as far as I`ve understood it: The Hitchcocks performance camshaft. It improves torque above 3000RPM in all gears. So you should see more power and higher average speed available when climbing an incline and in headwind.
I wonder if that document holder right next to the intake restrcts it a bit?
No, I don’t think so, the air is sucked in from below.
How would this compare with the Honda CB350 single?
Hi..
Whats about spark NGK IRIDIUM for this classic??
😮
Thanks!!!
Hi, I did not try the iridium plug on my Classic 350
@@Marc.Stones I know of someone who has done the same thing as you + ngk iridium namely. 😃👍👍👍👍
Does DNA air filter affects fuel average …..does average increase or decrease
I could not notice a difference.
Sir price kya hai
Interesting test. There is no race horse waiting to be released with these alterations. Personally I feel you are just wasting your money.
Of course not :-) but the engine runs much smoother.
Waste of money. Aftermarketeers are just after your💰
the air filter is actually useful regardless. better quality, and the sound is great too. even if the difference in performance isn’t noticeable. personally i noticed it instantly when i used my own. i say let people try it out and try get the best from their bike :)
all thant en quasi no different
Marc, why don't you just sell it for a faster bike? Like an Interceptor or something? Acceleration and top speed aren't what this bike is about is it? I think you've bought the wrong bike my friend. Just sayin'....
Omg that is so slow 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
So called performance parts are a con.
