    I have an 07 like yours with 71k miles. It`s a wonderful cruiser car. Supremely comfortable, solid construction and the V8 engine will bring a smile with it`s sound from start up to acceleration. Launches hard from a standing start and coming up to speed entering a freeway is something to look forward to. My neighbor has a 2014 Mercedes E350 and he wanted to have an impromptu drag race late at night on a double lane freeway on ramp. I warned him he would lose, he did. Losing to a Volvo chuffed him badly..

    Honestly speaking, you get incredible value for money if you buy a Volvo S80 V8. An enormously good torque and at an affordable fuel consumption. I have a Volvo S80 V8 in Summum version and then you can set how the steering should be. Light, medium and hard. Same with the suspension which has air dampers. It has an exquisite sound system. A wonderful car to drive and ride in. Really high quality. I love this car.

      Thank you for sharing, I love the S80 V8 so much, would definitely have it in my all time 5 car garage!

    I'm happy you like the S80! Since I've owned my S80 V8, I definitely drive slower (except when I merge...what a sound) and I listen to a lot more classical music too. It feels appropriate and it's a satisfying car to drive smoothly to that kind of music.
    The S80 does not handle great, but mine can handle mountain roads decently, and I’ve driven worse. The handling is my only real dislike. I could complain about the mpg, but it has the potential (as you’ve seen) to be very efficient for what it is.

    Thanks Nathan, I discovered this channel shortly after starting my search for my S80. I've now purchased one of those from autotrader with 33k miles on the clock in an 07 plate.
    I've had many volvos over the years from the 1.6 Drive V50 to my current XC90 T8 polestar, and whilst I've loved them all... the S80 is special for all the reasons you've said. My trip back from Glasgow also returned about 30mpg, so I was enormously pleased with that given I was expecting nearer 21!
    Keep these videos coming, be good to know how you get on fixing any issues as they appear, like you say I think there are only about 91 taxed S80 V8's in the UK, be good to keep them running!
    Thanks again for solidifying my good choice to get one!

      @@Conceptcreator I’ve always loved Volvo’s, especially the 850R! C30’s look terrific and with the 5 cylinder engine as well, what a combination! I suppose with the V40 you get a little more practicality with the hatchback style, but I suppose it’s not too distant from C30 ownership being a similar size and hatchback. I would highly recommend the S80 purely for the comfort and relaxing driving mannerisms it gives you, I miss my S80 V8 a lot!

    • @Conceptcreator
      @Conceptcreator Год назад +1

      that is true! though the bigger thing is the interior when it comes to that V40, the interior looks better, cleaner in a way but I had the Volvo C30 in the 1.8 config, was a nice car I will admit! Bit of a project but still ^^ kinda miss it! @@NathanMannin

      @@Conceptcreator I suppose the V40 is quite a new platform compared to the S80 in terms of interior design, you can’t go wrong with both. One things for sure though, the seats in my S80 and the ride quality was second to none. The comfort aspect of the S80 was absolutely astonishing and excellent value for money, it even had a telephone in the armrest 😆 I would love a C30 with the cylinder engine! 😆

    i have the jacked up wagon version of the s80 (xc70) i've had alot of beemers and mercs through the years. and love them. but still i find that i love the old sweed being totally not a german car. its a car that wins you over the more you drive it.. its so quiet, so soft, the seats are so soft. its so relaxing and calm. and you get so used to it. and you feel it when you drive other cars.
    the funny thing is that because of this, we have repeatedly not gone through with selling it and getting a newer car.

    I'm not sure what they are doing with the car on your side of the pond, but I have a 2010 V8 Executive and I get around 17mpg. The best I ever got was on the drive home with it, at about 22 mpg. The car has only 72,000 miles on it. I do find the 'normal' S80s more comfortable, you give up a lot of the seat comfort when they added the massage function.

    • @xsmogxcz
      @xsmogxcz Год назад +1

      Maybe you are confused by the difference between the US and Imperial MPG? So the US 22mpg would be imperial (UK) 26.4 mpg. Honestly, metric system for the whole planet please 🙏😅.

Are there any known issues I need to be aware of? I know the front sub frames rot out, this one had a brand new one fitted last year.

      @@NathanMannin Here in the US we have T6s by the dozen. I drove quite a few as part of my job with a Volvo dealer. They're lovely engines, smooth, ultra reliable, and just about powerful enough for any situation you can think of. They're sweet sounding at lower revs but get sort of thrashy at the top end. I doubt their fuel economy is much better than your V8, but if they were good enough for the UK police, they could certainly be good enough for you or I!

    Been looking for one over the last 2 months in the southeast U.S. seems to be nearly impossible to find one with 160,000 miles or less most on average that I see for sale have 200,000-230,000 miles and the owners still want $6k+ I’ve seen two pop up with 150,000 miles or less but they were undiserable colors. I really hate that champagne light tan color Volvo uses on their cars sometimes. I’ve owned 3 Volvo s60 T5s that came stock in “ash gold metallic” and I repainted them I don’t want to do that again.
