    The quick-fold front passenger seat in the S80 is also a chauffeur feature. Simply move the front passenger seat all the way forward, remove the headrest (if necessary), and throw a blanket over the seat back to avoid scuffing the leather. You then have a backseat in which the rear passenger can fully stretch out their legs and enjoy the rear armrest/cup holders (hence the existence of the optional refrigerator that replaces the ski hatch behind the rear armrest).
    As an American owner of a 2014 S80 who has driven the car 1000+ miles non-stop, I can guarantee that the fold-flat seat is an invaluable feature for you and your copilot on long trips.

    • @robwilton8001
      @robwilton8001 10 месяцев назад +3

      You shouldn’t need to remove headrest, fold seat forward with levers, then using side slide button on passenger seat, hold head rest down and tight to seat and it travels under the glovebox. When you stop far even forwards it traps seat back pushed down.

    Just found this. I am now the owner of this exact car. With the exception of the cd player everything is working well. I’ve put premium tyres on all around. When I bought it there was a different brand on each corner, 1 Firestone and three unknown budget makes. Really enjoying it and thanks to you Nathan for showing me round!

      Bill thank you for getting in touch and I am delighted to hear the car is performing well and went out your way to comment. It’s one of a kind and if circumstances were different I would’ve loved to have kept it. I hope you can restore it back to its former glory, as these things are so hard to come by now!

    Another VERY useful feature or mirrors - you can adjust them through menu to look down, while driving backwards, so you can see rear wheels, both or just opposite to driver. Or you can do nothing, engage "R" and press mirror button "R", or "L", or both, but not simultaneously (or they fold, of course). Press again to return them to normal, or just disengage "R" on gearbox. Don`t know if it is standard or option, but mine have it.

  • @L_Alexander
    @L_Alexander Год назад +10

    A really cool feature in the PCC (personal car communicator) on the key fob - when you press the 'I' button there are little lights on the key fob that will flash. They can tell you if the car is locked or unlocked, if the alarm is armed, if the alarm has gone off recently, and the most impressive function is what they call the heart beat monitor which can tell you if the car has been broken into and there is someone inside the car when you are within the communication range and the red lights on the key fob will beat like a heart beat.
    Something else handy is where the manual key slot is on the drivers door, found on the rear end of the driver door handle on the underside you'll see the slot to insert the key blade to remove a plastic cover which hides the key slot - handy if the battery goes dead or flat on you and you need to get in or lock the car. Terrific cars - incredibly good sounding V8 and as reliable as the day is long. Underrated.

  • @derekchisholm972
    @derekchisholm972 Год назад +3

    I was hoping to be able to comment on something you missed - but you covered almost everything, and now I know the keyblade is quite useful. I also figured out how to use the home safe lights a few days ago thanks to a 2010 S80 brochure I found online. I've found that the high steering force level is better for winding roads with hills, you feel more in control since it's heavier.
    I don't think you mentioned the a button for rain sensing wipers on the wiper stalk. You can turn it on with the stalk in the off position. They are dim-witted but useful occasionally.

    • @NathanMannin
      @NathanMannin  Год назад +1

      I love old brochures! I wasn’t aware of rain sensing wipers but I’m also not a fan of them in any car either, I like being in control of when I use them. I absolutely loathe active cruise control that changes it speeds accordingly too, I like the standard cruise control where I have full control that doesn’t slow down for you!
      Someone commented on this video remote start? I’m going to have a dabble with that I think!

    There is another interesting feature on the key fob (at least the one I had with the V8) where you press a key and it checks if the car is locked or not, if the car is within communication range ..I have not seen that in any other car of this day and age. The one I had, also had adaptive cruise control and three way adjustable dampers which in soft setting made the car feel too undamped and bouncy and in race mode was way too harsh even on smooth roads, hence effectively forcing one to use the medium setting, just like with the steering options. Enjoy the car, and that burble of the V8, so un-Volvo like that people always struggled to locate which car made that V8 sound..

    There is a peg attached to the headrest of the passenger seat so you can hang a jacket on. I turned off the auto mirror close when the car is locked in the winter because the frost kept it stuck shut. It's in car settings but I think your film caught it. P3 is the Volvo models based from the EUCD platform. The P3 cars share many parts that aren't chassie related and that isn't used by the other brand's EUCD based cars. I'm sure Volvo did quite a few things to the platform to make it meet their safety standards (that would not be featured on a Mondeo).

Just had the valve cover gaskets and timing cover gaskets replaced. It was leaking oil and killed the alternator. But it has 177k miles on it. Cost $4k US to have all the work done. @@linrepboras it’s a video of hidden features most owners wouldn’t otherwise know about; which I regarded the most interesting/useful. There’s no need to be pedantic about it. The vast majority of people don’t want to go out their way to break out the manual, or explore their cars for hours to find hidden features. They’d rather watch a quick video on their telephone at the convenience of any place they desire, which is exactly what this video was made for.

      @@NathanMannin So all the efforts any vehicle manufacturers made designing the features as all the efforts to also explain when and how to use in the manual is useless?
      I doubt that the "vast majority" is both clueless and not interested in their (new or second hand) vehicle, secondly that way of reasoning you just made (people are lazy and stupid) is in that case the reason your YT-channel excists? Does your 1760 subscribers represent the "vast majority"?

      @@linrepboras I never said the manual is useless, they are your words not mine. But the reality is like I said, most people don’t look through the manual or read through it in depth to find out interesting features. Your wording of “clueless stupid and lazy” is an assumption you’ve taken blown way out of proportion. There’s a reason why videos like these get high number of views, especially for my channel with it being the leading highest amount of views for the past 6 months. That in it’s own right speaks for itself, it shows a lot of people don’t take time to read the manual thoroughly, otherwise they wouldn’t need to watch a video about hidden features/tips/tricks. I feel like you’re purposely trying to be naive and show negativity for the sake of it, what are you trying to achieve or how are you adding value? You’re the only person on this comments section showing negativity whilst everyone else has given something of value or shown their appreciation. Do you go on everyone’s “hidden feature” videos and tell them to read the manual? Or just mine? I’ve said it already, but in this modern day and age where you have your phone on you at all times, people would much rather watch a quick video of a short for that matter to find out information, that is the society we live in. My RUclips channel exists because I create content I enjoy making and love sharing it, my 1760 subscribers represents hard work and people have enjoyed watching 86 of my videos. I would imagine people who are subscribed to me are car enthusiasts, so a higher percentage of them would’ve read the manual of their respective cars to find out features. However, this video reaches out to more than just my subscribers, it’s gained 25K views and not all of them will be car enthusiasts, some of them will just have this as their family car and would like to know more about it by watching a quick video, rather than studying a manual for hours.
