    Cool vid idea - haven't seen a comparison like this before. Always got the vibe that the garmin was good for the novice but the value was more in the easy video/data overlay than in the actual coaching.

      Agreed, that is what we discovered too. We didn't want to believe it so ended up testing it for a LONG time to be sure our feelings were correct.
      That being said I use it for video exclusively and love it. I just don't even look at the 'opportunities' page anymore though. I just use the APEX Pro and it always pushes me quite a bit further than the Garmin suggests I can go

    Hi guys! I learned so much in this short video. Thanks for your honest opinion. Im a new driver and will be looking into getting the Apex Pro. Can you make a video on how to use it and all its features? Also what metrics to look at to become a better driver. Thank you! Keep making great videos. One question on the k20c you have on the NSX. What are the advantages/disadvantages of the K20c vs a regular turbocharged k series?

    Hi! I would like to offer a different perspective on the RaceBox Mini from a longtime AIM user. I had the full AIM Solo2 DL w Smartycam setup. It is the most complete (and expensive) solution hands down. And I also got into data analysis which would keep me busy hours after the trackday. It did improve my driving. But you have to put in the effort. And although with everything that is to be expected… you have to experience the extreme amount of troubleshooting of the software, device configurations, physical connections etc you have to go through in order to exploit it’s capabilities. So I try RB Mini. The main difference is no car/OBD telemetry and you have no direct video integration. But is SIMPLE and you’d be surprised once you’have experience how much you can analyze from your driving with “just” GOOD GPS and accelerometer data. And that’s the key.. The overlay on top of the Satellite image of the track was very precise and smooth and you can navigate the data right on your phone (not on a PC). Given it uses less hardware, is cheaper and less stuff to hook up. My connection to the device was easy and stable (at least that was my experience). Set the phone on the windshield and got the lap times and predictive time displayed on my phone. Filmed with a camera and overlayed the data with Race-render (that is an extra step but is honestly a secondary priority). Not in anyway connected to RaceBox but wanted to give my impression

      Solid experience!

    • @WDLRacing
      @WDLRacing  Год назад +2

      Now that I had time to really read your response and again, I totally agree with what your saying. That is again, why I rate the RB Mini low on the track coach portion. It does collect good data and if you have hours to pour through data, its awesome, just like the AIM product.
      Specifically that is why I recommend the APEX PRO product as a track coach. It reduces the amount of TIME you need to find areas of improvement. It does a great job interpreting the data for you and laying it out on a silver platter. It is also the ONLY one of the devices that offers real time in car feedback, further increasing the effectiveness of the device.
      If someone just wants the data, the RB MINI is a great option, like the SOLO 2. If they want more of a coach, the APEX PRO offers the best solution IMO, and the catalyst is fairly mediocre at best.
      Again, these are my experiences and opinions and I do thank you for sharing yours with us!

    Hi mate. I have not tested any of the other products in the video, but I own a racebox mini, and Im absolutely over the moon with it.
    I think you were a bit unfair with it, maybe sort of missed the whole point of the device, therefore the bad review. you should revisit it to understand it's potential.
    It is not a laptimer per se, it's just a gps signal booster. It won't substitute any of the existing apps in the market, but it'll make them x100 better and more relevant for accuracy and refresh rate. Also the native app allows you to overlay two different laps so you can identify what is the quickest line and where you are losing time.
    As an example with your standard gps refresh rate (1hz), your standard phone laptimer could be up to 1sec off the real time. With the help of the racebox mini, my phone lap times are usually within 0.02sec of the official lap times.
    Regarding the screen, well, your phone will be your display. Just find the right mounting bracket and job done.
    Me personally i have never had a single pairing issue, but it's not unheard of, so a point for racebox to improve

    • @WDLRacing
      @WDLRacing  Год назад

      The question for us was whether it stood up against the mainstream options which in our opinion it does not. That being said when. It did collect data it did a great job!
      Glad you're enjoying it and I urge folks to check them all out before committing as each device serves a very specific purpose.
      I'll be testing out the full version to see how it does!
      But my comparison was purely between these 4 devices... Not as a standalone system by itself. Hope that clears it up!

    Thank you for this video good sir. I've been contemplating between the Racebox Mini or the Aim Solo 2 for quite some time now. I'd like to generally just have more seat time and see how I can interpret my lap times on myself first before I get feedback from coaches. Will most likely to be opting for the Aim Solo 2 since it seems to be more plug-and-play?

    • @WDLRacing
      @WDLRacing  Год назад +1

      If you're looking for the best LAP TIMER, i'd highly recommend the Solo 2. We spend more time fiddling with blue tooth connectivity issues with the Race Box Mini, and the data it provided wasn't anything different than other apps' such as Track Addict w/ an external GPS.
      If you're looking for a good track COACH that will assist in figuring out where you're losing speed i'd recommend the Apex Pro Gen 2.

    • @WDLRacing
      @WDLRacing  Год назад +1

      Rumors are its happening soon, however I'd not let that slow you down in purchasing an Apex Pro. I simply grabbed a 1 generation old tablet myself for 70 bucks online. Bigger screen, and much better than using a phone regardless! I am an android lover too but the coaching of the Apex Pro is totally worth the extra step and cost.

    Aim Solo does everything that the APEX does... Not sure how you did not see that in the AIM?

    • @WDLRacing
      @WDLRacing  Год назад

      It actually collects exactly the same data... What it doesn't do is interpret it for you in a quick and easy to digest single screen, or provide real time feedback while your driving outside of it's predictive timing. Quite a bit different in how they interpret and compile the data for the customer.
      They both can come to the same results, one just does it automatically, the other does not.

    • @seankelly299

      @@WDLRacing I have my Aim set up to tell me via the lights if I am on a good lap or not. It's the only thing I really concentrate on. How is that different?

    • @WDLRacing
      @WDLRacing  Год назад

      @@seankelly299 predictive timing is actually quite useful but very different than what apex offers. Predictive timing more or less tells you if your on a fast lap... But not necessarily why or how you achieved that. You can find that information by combing through the data post session to isolate your improvements. It's one of my favorite ways to use an aim solo.
      What apex does is different... It allows you to see your utilization of every single corner and braking zone real time to see how much your leaving on the table... Not just if you've gone slightly faster or not. This real time feedback allows you to selectively attack corners that you can see there is obvious available laptime (or braking / traction zones) and leave areas that do not share the same opportunity alone.
      What you get is very effective lapping and the building of a muscle memory.
      It also allows you to review your data in car in seconds.
      I have been a strong aim user for about 20 years now and love the product... But it has some limitations that apex pro has been able to improve upon.

    • @seankelly299
      @seankelly299 Год назад +1

      @@WDLRacing I see. That obviously works for you and I get why you like it but I am more interested in predictive timing as I am on a motorcycle and don't have the time/ability to look at the per turn data.
