    Hey, James. Thanks tons for this information. I just got my Solo2 and cannot wait to use it at Road America. I have a quick question though. Do the LED's still illuminate in both Predictive and Static? I have set up my custom modes almost identically. Custom 1 shows Static, then Best Lap, then followed by +/-. My Custom 2 shows the same thing except it is Predictive. Also, from your experience, what would you want to utilize if you simply just wanted to see if you were improving your times throughout the weekend? Custom 1 or 2? Lastly, since I chose the RA track from the Track search option, does that mean the Solo 2 will automatically start to record my lap times? Or will I have to let it know the start/finish line. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, James!!

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  Год назад

      Hi! The LEDs are only for predictive lap and in increments of 0.05, 0.1 and 0.2. If you've got RA it will automatically start recording when you go out in your sessions and you won't need to assign a start/finish. Finally, I would recommend the simplest view for you to get what you need at a glance when on track. The screen can be quite small so I don't recommend too many details on screen. Hope it goes well!

      I don't have a video specifically for that, however, below I've linked to a video for setting up a Solo 2 DL and SmartyCam. Ignore the SmartyCam section and focus on the configuration of the Solo. If you create multiple configutations in Race Studio 3, you can upload the config for the specific vehicle before plugging it in to the ECU and using it. Hope this helps. ruclips.net/video/15UBKZrQIHA/видео.html

      The Solo2 DL is fantastic. You won't need more from it for the data, however, if you want to have more on screen dials and and gauges (like a dashboard) then a more advanced system is what you need. What kind of car are you using?

    Hi James ! Before all .... thanks for your time and videos. I have a doubt .... what can I do if there is a warm-up lap ? Should I turn it on just before the green light ending the warm-up lap? and obviously have it turned off during the warm-up lap ? thanks in advance

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  2 года назад +1

      No need to worry about the warm up lap. The AiM Solo 2 will continue to learn throughout your session so after the green it'll keep learning. I would turn it on at the start of your session and then not touch it again until it's time to download the data. Hope that helps.

    Hi James, these videos help a ton thank you! I hope I’m not hijacking this thread, but I can’t get RPM to show up on my SCCA road race car. It’s an old ASA car with a GM computer connected with OBDII. The RPM data shows 0 even when the car is on… revving it to 3000rpm still doesn’t activate it. Do I have to be running at the track to see this or does Race Studio need some configuration? I tried it in my truck and still nothing. GPS speed works fine. It is a Solo 2 DL.

    Hi James. I know you can add splits to the tracks on the device. How are the splits used / shown while on track?

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  3 года назад

      On the device, I believe that it works the same way as the default track split report in the software. By this I mean it breaks the track into left, right and straights and then calculates how you are doing against those segments. It's why it takes it a lap or two to start showing you predictive times. I'll confirm with AiM when they are back from the summer break if needed but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

    Hi James,
    This question isnt exactly related to the configuring of the solo2 but I was wondering if it was possible to see the mileage on the solo2? We have a driver who is using one and wants to know if she can correlate the use of the solo2 each weekend to get an estimate of the engine mileage? I can probably just sifen through all the data files on the solo2 (as Leanne keeps the data stored on the device ) and add up the distances that way but if you knew a quick tip for this that would be fantastic!
    Cheers,
    Pippa

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  3 года назад

      Yes! In race studio 3 you can track mileage against the device. It should be in the section when you press the green/white arrow. It’ll record all of the mileage of the device. Hope that helps Pippa.

      Oh brilliant! I unfortunately wont have the solo2 this weekend to check but is it just in the live measures section that I’d find it when I connect to the device. .. as the green/white button that you’re referring to is just when you connect the device to racestudio3 and receive the information isnt it?... sorry for all the questions!

    hi! can you explain what does each of them means? (static, rolling, predictive, +/-, best lap etc) 6m17s

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  2 года назад

      Absolutely. Static will show you the lap time you rode each time you go over start/finish. Rolling will keep the timer running on screen for each lap (so you'll see the laptime build as you ride your lap). Predictive and +/- is the learning algorithm predicting what your laptime will be as you ride the lap (this will be seen in either a predictive lap time for the whole lap OR it'll be a +/- in time on how much faster you will be than your previous best). Hope this helps answer your question.

    Hi,can I know what is the charging time for a full charge? And is it normal if there is red light blinking while charging?

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  3 года назад +1

      Hi! Typically, I see full charge in about an hour. The red blinking light means there is a charge going in. The red light, however, will not stop blinking when full. One of the ways of checking is you can always turn it on while it's plugged in and the battery bar will tell you how much charge there is. Hope this helps!

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  3 года назад

      Hi! Ah, this could be a nice simple fix (fingers crossed). When you turn on your device, once you are on the timing screen it might stay “static”. Press the bottom right button once and it’ll move through your pages and find your +/- setting. Hope that works, give me a shout if it doesn’t.

    • @Scuderia_Piccolo

      @@JamesColborn Thank you for the reply and suggestion! Before each session, I scrolled between Static, +/-, and Custom setting once before stopping on +/- and heading onto the track. It worked during one session after a couple of laps. In the other sessions, it was just stuck on last lap time. After a couple of sessions of it not working, I gave up and started using the custom setting which displayed mph and it works just fine every time. I’m thinking maybe doing a factory reset or deleting the custom and static settings to see if it will force the unit to do +/-. I’ll be back on track June 12-13 so will try again then and let you know if it works. Thanks again, James!

      @JamesColborn  2 года назад

      Hi Santa. At around 2:22 in the video, I talk about the LED bars. This is where you set them up. On an AiM solo 2, all you get is lights for predictive lap time so it'll be green for increments of time improvement or red for increments of time lost. Unfortunately, I couldn't show the lights in action on the video as the device has to be operational in a car/bike etc. to work but hopefully that area will help you set up your LED bars.

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  Год назад

      Ahh... the focus was the driver learning a new track using the AiM device but can totally see your point! In the AiM Solo 2 there is a feature in the 'track management' section (the icon in the menu that is a track) that allows you to 'create a new track'. From there you can create a new track by selecting start/finish and then you can use that track in the analysis tool or to have the device start to give you predictive lap times. Hope this helps.
