    I have been using my S18 for more than a year, which I am quite happy with. It is my 4 wheel drive and the only thing I don't like is that it has less power than the KS16X that I had before, but it is ONLY noticeable after 50% battery. Before that point the wheel behaves very well, the suspension is a silent and progressive delight, easy to carry and grateful in range if you do not force it. I go out with my wife on routes of about 40 to 60km and I never arrive home with less than 30% charge. In offroad mountains things change, I can easily consume the battery in 45km, that's fine, it's not a problem since it's a price to pay for its contained weight but good performance. I recommend it as the first wheel only if you want to flow smoothly on roads and streets with average distances of no more than 50km and taking into account going at a walking pace of between 20 to 40kmh, you will undoubtedly enjoy this wheel a lot. By the way, the maintenance is quite simple, the suspension does not lose pressure, the parts do not break easily and in general you can use it reliably.

    Funny as my S18 arrives today. For us regular people a 10 mile ride + is a nice hour or so out of the house and I don't spend my day dodging cars and jumping curbs. I live in Florida, its flat, no 30 degree climbs, unless I intentionally rode up a gigantic culvert I can't see a problem with its performance and my electric scooters all go less than 30 mph, so we can all keep pace with one another. Last thoughts, watching you abuse the heck out of that thing and its still going I would give it 5 stars for that alone.

    • @reitze01
      @reitze01 2 года назад +3

      I have >1000KM on my S18. It lacks the sustained power for 30mph. If you're wise you'll watch your current draw and keep it under 20A. With headwinds that only gets me to about 20mph. Tailwind with mild slope I've done 35mph on my S18. But commuting on it my average speed is only about 20mph. S22 on the other hand, average 25mph with peaks at 39mph (so far).

      I really don't like the v11 shock, it's way too floaty and your legs move up and down, instead of the whole wheel moving, so it totally chafes. it sucks compared to the s18 lol

    Hey Adam before you sell your S18 consider reprogramming the control-board. I've heard that reprogramming the control-board will allow a stock S18 to do 45mph! Also the performance & safety characteristics could be reprogrammed to duplicate any wheels parameters that a rider would want! If the batteries were upgraded then the wheel could have 100+ miles of driving range!

  • @RonnieRides
    @RonnieRides 3 года назад +6

    That's exactly the thing, with too many limitations a wheel will leave you frustrated, so in the end a niche feature like suspension just isn't enough. It's the same for all the suspension wheels out now IMHO, maybe next generation suspension wheels will be less limiting in other ways and way more interesting.

    • @BosonCollider

      Eh, its the EUC equivalent of a dirt bike. Different models have different tradeoffs, it's made for off road riding rather than as a road cruiser.
      The S18 seems to be doing some heavy duty work in Ukraine right now if Ukranian social media is to be believed. Good off road mobility, easy enough to use that other tasks can be done while on it, can recharge drones with the USB port.

    this is classic adrenaline junkie-itus, if going down 20 sets of stairs at 20 miles an hour on a electric unicycle becomes boring, that is a you problem, not a EUC problem, once you have th new thing, you get bored and want the next new thing, junkies have the same issue with women, food, tools, cars, ect, nothing is ever good enough for very long, for me a non adrenaline junkie type person, this wheel would be amazing for me, until it stopped working or caught on fire or whatever they do at the end of their life cycle, i just want something faster then walking, more fun than biking, and smaller then a electric longboard.
    most regular people can only afford one of these things, like the majority of people dont have 4-6 wheels laying around at home, i myself have zero because they just cost to much to even get your foot in the door (for regular people that have wives and kids and all that) i havnt tried buying used , but so far most people are morons and try and get what they paid for it even though they put a thousand miles on it >.

      Everything you wrote is pure truth. Most of these euc RUclipsrs are jaded and spoiled by having half a dozen high performance wheels laying around. I just bought a V10f two months ago as my first wheel and I love it. I ride it daily and I love its performance even though it has a top speed of 40km/hr. This guy "wrong way" is complaining about how he's bored with the s18's performance and talking about all his other wheels. Unbelievable. I would kill for an s18. it is still the best wheel for those who don't need much range and power. Hell, there are lots of people who is riding V8 and 14d wheels. For 90% of riders S18 is more power and more range than actually need.
    I would go for 30-50% more range though, if it was free (weight-wise). S20 is cool and all, but way too heavy.

    American Muscle cars = Sherman/Begode
    - always under the hood trying to make it faster or making it work
    - great for straight line speed and cruising
    Honda = KS / Inmotion
    - A to B
    - reliable
    - still fun but nothing like the hot rod
    I guess I am a Honda guy as I own a S18.
    KS just has to make their wheels water proof and no chance of cut outs. Then they will be the perfect eco-EUC for the common man.

    The pads are flat on the side and my legs don't actually grip them. When I bend my knees and try to keep loose, its wobble city. Only way I can ride is straight stiff.

      You could get better padding? Or look at what other 14D people do with theirs?
      I'm just learning on mine, and I'm trying to use a wide stance for stability reasons on the pedals, but it means I'm not gripping my wheel at all with my legs.
      I'm working on conditioning my muscles, feet and ankles, until they're relaxed but strong enough to handle this style, and have the rider experience to react minimally appropriately to not throw myself off balance. Switching to a wide stance on the pedals got me from short distance traveling in my learning process, to going huge distances, and I can even do very slow turns now!

      Keep knees bent never stiff.
      Start out with your hand on a wall, stand on the wheel and step off repeatedly, get used to getting on and off it's the hardest part.
      Next practice rocking back and forth with your hand on a wall to get used to accelerating and braking.
      Next, slowly roll down the wall and stop, repeat repeat until you can do it with no hands.
      At this point you've got the fundamentals and are well on your way!

      @@mr_wrongway ok, but cruisers needs RANGE, not battery. Todays standards are bigger motors, they use more power, so they eat battery faster. Monster real range is 100km on 1845wh battery, smaller engine needs less energy, Ex/Exn have huge 2700wh battery but range 90-120km. Difference muuuch smaller than difference in battery capacity.

    Hii, so maybe some of you can guide me. I really don't know whether to get the s18 or the v11.
    I've watched so many videos and my decision balanced between the two every single time.
    First I was attracted to the s18, then. I thought it was more for off-road and the v11 seemed better for cities, and better acceleration and comfortable etc.. But I heard it has several issues with motherboards and that it can turn off by itself, which scares me.. Otherwise I'd go for the v11..
    Still, is the s18 safer then? Even for cities and casual hikes?..
    By the way I'm currently having a v8, that works just fine, but I need better sensations.

    The thing about S18 that most people need to grasp is that is not a "main wheel". Its a "side wheel". A wheel you buy for fun and to do fun things on it and etc. If you buy a V11 and an S18. You have a main wheel and a side wheel since V11 can be cosidered as a main wheel.
    S18 just doesnt have enough battery. Its not powerful enough for most people and there is a only a few things that it does best which is offroad, freestyle and tricks. Every one of that disciplines screams "side-wheel".
    If you have to go 10km to the city im pretty sure you grab the V11. Just cause. Its designed for commuting so its comfortable at using it for that.

    ABC’s of SALVATION
    ADMIT: You’re a sinner, condemned to DEATH (physical & spiritual) .
    Romans 3:10, 23 There is none righteous, no, not one … For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
    Romans 6:23 & James 1:15 the wages of sin is death … sin, when it is finished bringeth forth death. (Spiritual death is eternity in HELL !)
    BELIEVE: that JESUS died, rose again, and that HE ALONE can save you from sin, death, and hell.
    Romans 10:9-10 if you: believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness.
    CONFESS: JESUS CHRIST, and nothing else, as your own Saviour. Romans 10:9, 10 & 13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus … confession is made unto salvation … whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
    Before it’s too late, forever, DO IT NOW! God’s gift is FREE and as easy as A-B-C !
