- This week we set off on what we thought would be a fairly standard 2-3 hour hike. It turned into an epic adventure climbing along a narrow ridge in what felt like a set from Lord of the Rings. The views were definitely worth it though! And then, just as we decided to turn back and face a steep descent, the heavens opened and our trail turned into a muddy waterfall. Lovely.

FYI: The pretty blue flowers looked like Dark Blue Snakeweed, (Stachytarpheta cayennensis).
Originally from Mexico and Central America, snakeweed is one of the many invasive weeds which appear attractive but play a sinister role especially when introduced to isolated island ecosystems, where they often have a devistating effect on fragile unique biodiversity.
There was also an awful lot of Coffee Bush (Leucaena leucocephala) another tropical weed.
Otherwise looked like a challenging but rewarding adventure, enjoying the pairing, how did the Wynns stay so pristine?

Y'all made a mess out of that mountain trail sliding down it on your asses, although with the rain there wasn't much of a choice. It's a shame you didn't have a better day, Sailing Nahoa climbed the trail all the way to the top mind you, and had spectacular views of the surrounding area. The view from the top on a clear day is very inspiring.
I will admit that the rainy day perspective added a bigger hint of danger of sliding off the mountain, that trail is very narrow. Thanks for y'all's amazing perspective of the trail on a dismal or rainy day. I wonder how many people have had to be rescued from the summit of this trail, due to injuries, or other problems.
I was thinking that Ashley and Ben from Sailing Nahoa climbed that mtn. They're great aren't they? I would love to see them meet up with both the Wynn's and the Ruby Rose crews.
@@TWROC96 haha, Ben and Ashley made one hell of a video when they climbed this mountain. It would make for one great video, if they were ever able to team up with these other cruisers.
What fun! I lived in Hawaii for a while when I went to the School of Public Health in Manoa. And I remember those mystical foggy clouds that would come and go. And I remember the almost 100% humidity at times. I even remember the smell of the plumeria flower that was in Terysa's hair. So thanks guys for all the memories haha. And that was definitely a kick butt hike!
It was a pretty amazing hike. Hawaii is on our bucket list.

If you are considering a catamaran, look at Outremer 45, reasonably priced, fast up wind, low center of gravity, low boom and did I say fast!

We just hiked up to a friends apartment in Kas, Turkey. Only 100 fairly steep steps, but it made us realise how unfit we are.
I find the going back down to be much more precarious than going up. Good effort!

Ok... I am update with you guys. It’s been a semi marathon over the last 3 weeks or so. Really enjoying your story telling, editing and personalities. I’m a none sailor, for now, but I’ve been thinking and dreaming about it for 10 years. I’m now in the process of buy a small boat to learn on, 26’ MacGregor. And if all goes well I’ll trade-up and tryout the Bahamas and Caribbean. Thank you for show folks like me the ups and downs. Keep having fun and sharing. Jeff
