I love them to pieces, especially the Js and Ns It is a shame they spawn on such a low altitude and even if they were to spawn higher, single engine fighters outperform them in every way

The Dornier Do 17 was sometimes referred to as the Fliegender Bleistift ("flying pencil"), it was popular among its crews due to its handling, especially at low altitude, which made the Do 17 harder to hit than other German bombers.
I'm not a gamer but it was interesting to know about the Dorniers. My perception was that after the original Do17 the JU88s seemed to be the " main plane." Even reading old RAF pilots and history authors' memoirs and accounts, Do217 variations are rarely mentioned - they always seemed to be intercepting 88s or 110s.
Its important to note that misidentification happened quite a lot, so you should not always trust a memoir with these things. That being said, its absolutely the case that the Luftwaffe relied more on Ju88s (around 2700 nightfighter variants built) and Bf110 (around 2800 nightfighter variants built) then Do217s (around 500 nightfighter variants built) when it comes to the nightfighter role
I remember winning a 1v3 with a do bomber (cant remember name) The 1st one got shot down by aaa 2nd one got crit The 3rd one gave up and landed and waited for me to shoot him than take off again (i guess) trying to kill me one last time failing miserably...
I use the Do-217 K-1 mainly for mixed battles. I got a 5 kill on a point with a couple 1000 kg bombs with it. Also, I find the K-1 double machine gun sticking out the front to be a more reliable forward gunner armament then the 20 mm cannon. But that may be just me.
Ok, so Do 335 is a Dornier. It is however, not part of this family. Messerschmitt made both Bf-109 and Bf-110, but they’re not the same family. Just like Hawker made the Hurricane and the Hunter, but they’re not the same family.
The problem with the upward firing cannons was your target will come down. The last sight some German night fighter pilots saw was their victim crashing into them.
Uuh... I'm sorry? Where's the Do-335 portion of the family? Them boiz made a leap in aviation in itself! That's probably my go-to Dornier aircraft to fly if I need some quick SLs. The nose battery... It's just so, so perfect.
Dorniers were the only aircraft that bombed the island I live on during WW2. They blew up a bunch of tomato trucks that were mistaken for tanks. Crazier still, the local airline uses modern Dornier aircraft now.
To me the Do 335 is my favorite, and I love flying boats so I Love the Do-24, cripes I could write a book on flying boats. But yes the Flying Pencil Do17 as it was called always looked beautiful.....I had forgotten about all the derivations!

P-61 is a better pick by far lol. Amazing br, amazing turret, radar, 61mm effective thickness glass in the front of the cockpit making it really good in head on's, 4x 20mm's and a turret with 4x 50 cals! What more could you want!? (Also got a sick paint job!)

The changes to the Italian ground tree had such a big missed opportunity, an Italian Tiger H1. Maybe with unique paint so it wasn’t a literal copy paste like half the tree
I know they probably won't check this but quite a few British Bombers did have ventral gunner positions including the Avro Lancaster B some an actual turret others a cut out either a Vickers 12.7mm or .303, There're posts on the forums asking for these turrets still hell the models ironically have these positions in game. Another thing still no Dornier Seaplanes like the Do.26, why none of these ntm the Do.217 with the Henschel guided bomb one did after all sink the Italian Battleship Rm Roma.
I have a question, where is the booster on the Mirage III C ? When I take the loadout with 2 magic and the matra (the one indicated on the devblog) there is no booster, same with aim 9 b and matra. Unless it is else where...
There is a correlation between 30s passenger aircraft and early wwii bombers exist, but it completely diffrent than the video suggests. Idea of a light, fast bomber was the logical conclusion drawn from the german strategy of combined forces working together in blitzkrieg. Such bomber would be ideal in short range operations, destroying enemy's infrastructure behind the front line(like transportation hubs or bigger troops and vehicle concentration points). During this time there were treaties, denying Germany right to have their own air force, or work on new military aircraft. So military aircraft producers divided to hide their new light bombers, under the facade of working on new passenger aircraft(not the other way around). Of course it was just in the early stages of Germany's road to war, later they just stopped caring about west's reaction. Just a little fun fact.
I wish someone made a good documentary on this aircraft series. Used extensively in the Battle of Britain, I find it strange that it is all but ignored
Please fix the touch pad controls for PS4. Flying has become unplayable since we can’t pull any fast manoeuvres or react quickly enough in a dogfight + the sensitivity has been increased so high it’s near impossible to accurately aim at someone without swaying all over the place. Please fix

How? When I fly it, The Do 217 flies like a concrete block. The Ju 88 is much much better in turning and climbing

DO-217 N-1 Used it very early in war thunder as it was able to soak up damage and demolish the enemies

They are very good if I need to pick between a BF110 or a Do217.... I take the Donier just because it's can take more damage befor it get destroyed

The booster is only equipped in load outs without guns. Try looking for
1 x Matra 530
2 x Matra 550 Magics
(No guns)
