    In this video we shoot and discuss the Egyptian Hakim chambered in 8mm Mauser. These rifles were based off the Swedish AG-42 Ljungman and were built to utilize the massive stockpiles of 8mm ammunition the Egyptians owned post WW2. The Hakim differs slightly from the AG-42 in that it features an adjustable gas system and a more substantial muzzle break to combat recoil from the more powerful 8mm cartridge. This particular example was produced in 1960 and is just an absolute joy to shoot as you will see. Stay tuned, much more military surplus content inbound.

Hope you guys can get Egypt back and bring it back to the great country it was before! I trained with several Egyptian soldiers and they were some of the best people I've known! • @ibrahimsafwat

      Daddy Keemstar because it's not about rifles, it's about military readiness. this rifle dates back way before the six days war. today this is just a pure ancient architecture that can deal some pretty dangerous damage if it is used right.
      we lost to Israel in 1967 because most of our military firepower was placed on yemen.
      if you're going to turn this into a political debate like a 10 year child on who lost to whom then drag your ass out of here, no one wants that bullshit over here.

      Anthony Pickens, jmans is on it. The political climate of recent years has contributed massively to people buying up tons of firearms and driving the price up on just about everything. I doubt prices (especially ammo prices) go down becuase now sellers know people will pay more

    • @thegoldencaulk2742
      @thegoldencaulk2742 7 лет назад +24

      Well, that and the fact that there's a shrinking amount of them each day.
      No, it has nothing to do with Sandy Hook. That had no effect on the surplus firearms market, but was more prevalent to the commercial firearms market.

    • @anthonypickens8497
      @anthonypickens8497 7 лет назад +8

      I just say it because they made surplus firearms so popular over time with there videos.

    • @jayn8392
      @jayn8392 7 лет назад +5

      Agreed, them (and other youtubers) have increased the awarness for some of these cool old guns. Thegoldencaulk, I would argue that politics still have an effect on the surplus market. When it was really crazy people (at least in my area) were buying up anything semi auto with a detachable mag and pistols 9mm and higher (even mosins vanished). Before everything went nuts I could still find most popular surplus guns easily and for a decent price. Now I rarely see anything, and when I do it's overpriced because like you said, there aren't any more being made. The commercial market was deff hit harder, but they are always making more of those.

    I’ve had my Hakim for about 4 years and I absolutely love it! I’ve fired hundreds of rounds through it. It’s very accurate. I can’t imagine how much more accurate it could be if I loaded my own ammo. I just use cheap surplus 8mm. I’ll never get rid of it. Plus it’s a conversation piece at the range. Most people have no idea what it is or they confuse it with being an SVT40.

    Back around 1970 or so, a friend of mine purchased a Hakim at a now defunct (chain) Five and Dime, of all places, in North Carolina for $75.00. To this day he owns only two center fire rifles, the Hakim and a WWII German semiauto rifle that his now deceased Dad brought home in 1946 and willed to my friend. Bill switches off hunting with the two rifles depending on how he feels when he wakes up on "Hunting Day" and has managed to fill his freezer with venison and pork/bacon every year with one or the other of the two rifles.

    The adjustable direct gas impingement is an Egyptian design on this rifle. When Egypt bought the tooling and design of the Swedish 6.5x55 from Sweden, it wanted to make good use of the huge stockpiles of 8mm ammunition it had since the end of WWll. The Swedes had a fixed gas system which didn't allow adjustments. Aside from the gas system, the rest of the adjustments made in Egypt are obvious; a beefier barrel, and a fixed, integral muzzle break were added to tame the recoil of the 8mm. Incidentally, the muzzle break is not a flash suppressor. It was strictly added to mitigate recoil. Great, very informative video ! Well done !!

Unfortunately your peers in the Generation have rightfully EARNED a reputation for being spoiled, selfish, self centered, entitled brats. I know from experience! When I would hire for a new position, I would have to go thru 10 or 12 people for every 1 that I would even consider interviewing! And would have to interview 15-20 per every 1 that I would consider hiring! And would have to let go of 5 of those I gave a shot to and hired! It's an epidemic! Companies waste SO much time, money and resources trying to fill position, just from having to filter thru all the worthless applicants! Then there are those that got coached on filling out applications and resumes and how to interview well and what to say, etc. only to be hired and find out that they have absolutely NO work ethic or understand something as simple as SENIORITY and working your way up! They want to be GIVEN the highest positions and make the highest salaries all while working the LEAST amount! They tend to think that all that matters is that they show up!

    Alittle story since field and stream and dicks are infringing on our rights and when I had a hakim. I traded my ak47 for an hakim back in 2016 and I drew the carrier back when I was shooting and the bolt would not fly forward so I took it to field and stream to have them look at It thinking it was jammed. I gave it to the guy and told him the bolt is suppose to fly forward after the carrier is bushed back and the guy looked at me like I was from outter space so he took a look at it and had no idea what to look for. He came back and said I have no idea whats wrong with it, I don't wanna mess with it. So I was looking at the gun and I flipped the safety pulled back on the carrier alittle and the bolt flew forward. The guy looked at me like wtf just happened. So I pushed the carrier back and forward to see if it would jam and it didn't it was just my stupidity. His face was just priceless though it was the funniest thing ive ever seen in my life! lol

      Lol I live in Canada, the longest time I have spent in Egypt is 5 weeks. The Egyptian people are heavily divided along religious and racial lines, Coptic farmers are prosecuted for keeping pigs, the Arabs bomb Coptic churches, and nothing is done about it etc. The Coptic religion descends directly from the teachings of Christ, such as turning your other cheek and loving your neighbor, we are not strong and militant like Catholics and Protestants, this will ultimately be the end of us.

      Thats weird. From coptics actually in Egypt I have heard different stories. Yea, there are def bombings done on churches, but I have heard that they are mostly done by the government to keep the christians and the muslims divided so its easier to have them fight each other rather than the dictator. From what some coptics told me, during the revolution coptics and muslims protected each other during their prayers. The way I see it, the muslims way outnumber the christians there, if they really didnt want christians there they would have done what the christians did in spain. But the fact that christians still exist in arab lands shows that the muslims are willing to live and let live...mostly. Just my thoughts, lmk what you think.

      As we know in North America, everyone loves to blame the government. Why would the Egyptian government want to divide the population, it doesn't make any sense. The government wants the people to be united against threats like ISIS and Saudi Arabia. The two most recent church bombings in Egypt were done by ISIS, as they consider the Copts infidels. Obviously not all Arabs are like this, but it only takes a few bad apples to ruin it for the bundle, as Europeans know very well. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is not a dictator, he was democratically Elected. In fact, his government is on the front lines fighting the muslim brotherhood, preventing a genocide of minority groups.

    Is that yugo ammo corrosive? Also, does your shell deflector mangle the brass? I try reload for mine, but the deflector just destroys the brass.

      Wrap some electrical tape on the deflector. Solved the problem for me and it looks original too.

      Yes the yugo ammo is berdan primed and corrosive. I bought some of 1999 MFG date and it's still corrosive but damn good ammo tho, very consistent. I think it's the best surplus 8mm I've tried.

    Pretty nice accuracy for a gun that was created to provide sustained cover fire for machine gun teams. The gun was designed to be shot at a sustained rate of fire (these guys made it look like slow fire) for over 1000 rounds before the need to cool off (hoping to have the machine gun active by then). I own one and they are very temperamental with certain types of ammo but once you get the gas block adjusted it works like a charm but it would be a bitch to have to do it during battle and have to manually extract each cartridge from the chamber as the rims are wide on this ammo and can get lodge needing a screwdriver or tool to pry it out.

    About 6 months ago I was getting a battery for my new weapon light and decided to take the light into Lowe’s with me to make sure I got the right battery. I keep a quick access mini safe in my vehicle because of my state laws, so I went to retrieve my pistol to detach the quick release light.. well I had the slide locked back and in manipulating the pistol without looking because I didn’t want to look suspicious, I managed to hit the slide release. The slide rode forward on a 20lb spring and pinched the tip of my thumb and got stuck. It was just dangling from my finger like you talked about in the video at that was just a little pistol, I can’t imagine doing that with that huge chunky bolt. My skin is crawling thinking about it!

      Gregory Stell I'm not saying the garand itself is inaccurate, but the 6.5x55 swede round is a better performing cartridge than the .30-06...and I have both these guns and having shot them concluded as much.

      I can tell you that outcome right now. Ljungman beats the Hakim, Ljungman beats the Garand. It would be interesting to see an SKS go head to head with a Rasheed though.

    I see you bought the brass gas key too. The guy who makes those is a really nice guy, but those keys aren't adequately strong. You can see in this vid just how bad Eric's is mushrooming from use. If you have a stuck gas adjustment valve, don't even dream of being able to move it with this brass key. You need to get the steel one. I forget where I got mine, probably ebay. It looks like a nut and you use a wrench with it. But my gas valve was completely rusted in place, broke the hell out of the brass key (the machined triangle opening just blew out when I tried to turn it). The steel key has held up great. Don't bother with the plastic gas key either, even if your valve isn't stubborn, the plastic one won't hold up. When you take the safety base off the back, be careful of the claw part that sits down into the action. If you get that twisted around wrong when it's out of the gun, the whole mechanism can come apart and it's a REAL PAIN to get back together. There aren't any videos or instructions on how to do it either, all you have is the parts diagram and you need about four hands to get it done. If I had a decent camera I would have filmed it, but it would have been a long video with lots of cussing and trial/error. Eric, now we need a reloading video on this rifle. You know you're tempted to reload for it!
