@@bobshaw07 yes on full gas setting these types of guns send the brass forward about 12 to 15 yards from the shooter at the 1 to 230 position. The deflection bar creases my 8mm brass pretty good. Have to fire form them in my Mausers to "fix them".
you can adjust the gas system with a special key (found one for my hakim on Ebay) this will lessen the recoil a small amount it is actually ment for adjusting the weapon for diffrences in amunition loads
I know this is a bit older post but I have had my Hakim for about ten years now and every time I take it out I am surprised by its accuracy, positive ejection (as in no one should be to the right of these things for 10 yds or so!), and the little feeling of the concussion you feel from the brake on the way home. It is unique to this gun. BUT it is reliable, accurate and hits HARD! Love my Hakim!! (No Hakim thumb-yet!)
I bought one back in the 80's. The thing that I remember about shooting it was that you could feel the concussion move through you like a wave and it kicked the brass forward of the gun. I remember shooting at a telephone pole (I was young and irresponsible) wondering why I wasn't hitting it because I could see dirt kicking up on the other side. Then I was introduced to the ballistics of the rifle bullet. It was shooting straight through it. I wonder if that pole has fallen over yet?
Used to be some really good hot loads for from Egypt that supposed to be for the MG42. My Hakim was shining with them. Say goodbye to the steel and ceramic plates when the hot MG load with 198gr. FMJ steel core knocking . Just bought the same round in California yesterday, made in Ethiopia in 1947. I'm sure the "EQUITY" is just oozing out of it. 😉
Every time I hear the name Hakim, I immediately think of Prince Akeem from the movie 'Coming to America (1988)' starring Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall. Stay classy my friends. EDITED for grammatical correction.
I have one of these and two Rasheed. Haven't shot the Rasheed yet, but the Hakim! What a joy. That muzzle brake is awesome, lite recoil, but I don't remember it being loud.
Love mine ,Took me a long time to find one Got luckey at my local gunshop one day the gunsmith had baught it at a gun show shot it and decided he did not like it it came with the origunal barrel (not mounted) and a fresh barrel from a armourers refurbish kit installed has respectable accuracy at 500 meters shooting from a rest.
I bought one in the early 90's for like $190. Went out and shot it a couple times. Louder than hell, and was scared to get my fingers near the open bolt. Traded it off quick, for something else. Never thought I'd see one at a gun auction. Wished I kept it.
They are very fun to shot!! back in the early 90th I had a few, on one my gunsmith cut the barrel down to 14" and welded the flash-hider back on and talk about Loud And Flashy, that rifle made that case. i sold it for some reason now wish I didn't.
Great rifle. Anyone looking over your shoulder and catching the shock wave will only do it once. Wanted the Rashid until I found it lacked the muzzle features of the Hakim. Would have been like shooting a 22.
I have the Ljungman AG/42 and I made up a gas plug that I can somewhat adjust. That stopped it sending 6.5 into the next zip code. Pity nobody made one, but I suppose they are rare - I didn't know the Hakim had one from day 1.
Miles on TFBTV did some videos on the Hakim and Rashid rifles that are more comprehensive than this. Also PPT did one as well. As far I gathered they were pieces of shit that had issues trying to load stripper clips into the box mag (only got one).
From what I've heard, this rifle is usually in great condition on the outside...but a complete mess on the inside because of the corrosive ammo they shot through them.
I just brought mine into work today. It has one of the most viotlent ejection cycles ive ever seen on any shoulder fired gun. Love it, semi auto 8mm.
Interesting. I assumed my Ljungman was over gassed since it was sending brass into the next county. Maybe that's normal for these rifles?

Worse than a G-43?

@@anthonyhelton3326 I have said key, an original and a repo. Even adjusted its not a pleasant action especially to the brass casings.

I remember they were around $75 back then. I passed on it and have regretted it since. Still have my k98

Fact - after this video Hakim prices will increase another 25%.
I think I paid about $150 for mine back in 1986. They're outrageous now!
I found one for either 1200 or 1400 sadly I didn’t have the cash
Wife bought me one of these and a Rashid...also an Egyptian FN 49
You sir have a cool wife!
I have had one of these for at least 15 years and it is one of my favorite surplus... I will agree that it is the loudest rifle I have ever shot. 😁
This and the MAS 40/56 are the main inspirations for the AR-10 and 15. it uses the same system.

What a piece of heavy machinery!
Thanks another interesting video.

Super cool and the Rashid is one of my favorite old school carbines next to the m1 of course
haha love him now for bringing one to annoy some ppl - very cool gun indeed!

Yeah, thanks for reminding me. I couldnt move my thumb for 2 weeks after one of those slammed shut on me. Yep. I never got it wrong again.

Bought mine on July the 4th 2020, like the look and is definitely a cool gun like he said
I picked one up back in the 90's for $300 plus the bayonet and 500 rds, though the dude was crazy selling it...

Did not show us the bolt. At a glance is it a tilting bolt like a SKS ?
The Modern Firearms website says, "Locking is achieved by tipping the rear of the bolt down and into the recess in receiver."
Which is worse, Garand Thumb or Hakim hand?
Hakim for sure
Hakim is the worse , I saw may people actually got injury from it !
@@alexllc2958 😬 I can't imagine either are pleasant lol
Thank you all.

Buying Brownells items thru Optics Planet will result in you having no warranty on the items.
If only I could afford it
The top cover and bolt look like a vz58 top cover and bolt.
aka "The Nutcracker" ?

Wow. Looks like a bruiser.
Garand Thumb got nothing on Ljungmann thumb.

Barrel should be chrome lined, no problems with mine. Had it since the mid “80”s. The other parts were packed with sooo much grease it couldn’t rust
My Dad had one when I was a teen I hated it
They were made to be loaded with stripper clips so the magazine would not need to be removed.
Me likey guns
