I do think it'd be fine if zerg got a slight buff to early game anti-air. Maybe extend spore crawler range to more consistently deal with banshees. As they are, the spores don't do much kore than just spot the banshees when cloaked.

it kinda stinks for serral that right after he gets sent to mandatory military service, the highest paying tournament in the history of sc2 shows up, i'm not sure if it would have altered the result but i'm sure he wasn't able to practice as much as he wanted to

For what it's worth though, even people who're nowhere near as good can still say/give perspectives or thoughts that end up being incredibly good.
I'm sure it wasn't my comment that led to it, but I remember a few weeks back I commented something along the lines of, "I feel like pro Terran players should try pocketing or preserving their Banshee's against Zerg and try to get 8 of them. Often the only mobile anti-air Zerg has is Queens, 8 is the critical mass to 1 shot them not counting upgrades on either side. They're also usually staggered enough that you could often just delete enough of them before they can really be a threat."
I believe it was Harstem that just the other day uploaded a video where he was basically doing cheese in a tournament and more or less did that Banshee idea. Think he had 6 of them grouped together and did so much DPS that the queens either died, or spent all their energy almost immediately. If he didn't throw them away for the supply to build Battlecruisers he genuinely I think would've won off just the Banshees.
Thought this was SC2 and not the first 3 minutes of Rambo.
It's not even just limiting Serrals economy, its applying so much pressure he can't afford to tech up, he can't get to those vipers and infestors that make him the best player ever.
The reason Clem is so dominant is two very very unfortunate facts of SC2, the earlier in the game you're proficient at means the less you have to worry about anything else:
(Think Cheeses, cannon rushes, timings and all ins)
And micro gets more value out of the same units, especially early on
(Reaper micro, stutterstep, pull back)
His micro is so extreme (with moderate macro) that nobody can ever ever make it to the late game and he doesn't have to even worry about anything else, especially against Serral or Zergs
It's to such an extreme that nobody else can physically contest him

I think Terran harass is just way too powerful early game.
Zerg doesn't have any reliable anti-air. Queens get the job done but you've got to work so hard for it. Zerg doesn't get anything else that shoots up until Lair, then they have to build another building before they can start making them.
I feel like Serral has lost what made him great in the first place: constant multi front harassment. When he was beating every top pro, he didn't allow Terrans to leave their base because of all his attacks
They keep nerfing Zerg just to keep Serral competetive. 🙂

not highest skill, just highest rank - since protoss won 0 premier tournaments for 2 YEARS NOW and had less than 33% in all the years before as well protoss is to weak. so we cant tell if some protoss dont actually have more skill since all protoss have a handycap.
Understanding clems tactics, is the the hellion should of never gotten into the main, Serral was slow reaction, one queen and a spine crawler... could block the top ramp and yo ucan do a queen rotation to spend the energy. Clem really abuses zergs anti air weakness. Meaning mutalisks or Hydras early can really benefit from a drop, bio composition, leading towards brood lords. Like the game he got ot lurker... brood lords are jsut better, since they can remove teh tank lines easier... surprised no infestors... roach is meh, as its range is so weak to marines/ maruaders... with infestors you can get good trades, but seen serral or will call it fake serral, since hes not using infestors, and not coutners or reacting at the same speed.. not sure what is going on.

As a non sc2 player (outside playing a lot of coop) but avid watcher, aren’t Zerg a bit too disadvantaged in the early game? Like their only gameplan is “let’s hope I don’t mess up” while all other races have plenty of ways to disrupt the enemy. You can just wall off and your base is safe the first 10 minutes of the game.
Terrans have their own Reaper entry point you can’t block, have hellions runby you cannot block, have banshee or Liberator harass, and start dropping marines everywhere early on.
It’s just boring „Zerg def Terran worker harass“ with no way for the Zerg to fight back, play their own harassing or to try to make things even. This playstyle and imbalanced ratio of def and attack also leads to most Zerg early game being mass queens.
Let’s say if you got a light flyer harassment unit or some weak-ish unit that can undertunnel walls/building or similar, but falls off fast, you would be able to do attack and Defense for both players at the same time, raising the ceiling. Or alternatively maybe give overlords some advantage to fuck with the enemy, maybe by making overseers available pre lair but a bit more expensive, so you can use contamination to harass? That would probably be too strong blocking early game worker production. Or give overlords after a research contaminate light, that stops any energy based and passive abilities of buildings (detection/orbital/nexus/sensor tower/ shield battery)
All that would probably break the game somewhere else though, because balancing it is so complicated
Zerg has to have a weaker early game because they have the strongest economy due to they way they produce units, including workers. Starcraft balanace is really easy to look at backwards because on the surface everything looks really similar, but it isn't. If zerg wants a buff, if has to be weighed against their massively faster economy and production, which is why they get nerfed more than buffed.

Can somebody please explain to me why serral keeps throwing roachs/ravagers at clem if it obv doesnt work? im not good at sc2, so maybe i dont understand his playstyle but ive seen him lose so many games to clems medivas and bioball and i dont get why he never trys to snipe the medivacs with a bunch of hydras or mutas, which he could send in when clem is forced to pick up the marines. Thanks in advance
Honestly at this point, Serral should just respect Clem's micro and build 2 spore crawlers instead on just one. It'll give him much less of a headache defending.

Reminder: If you want to rebalance Terran MMM bioball, no NOT nerf marines or mauraders - nerf the medivacs! The medivacs are what enable all the abusive untouchable bio micro, as well as countering all but one of the ostentiable counters to marines. The boots on the ground aren't broken, it's the instant pickup from any bad fight and constant healing that's broken
Agree 100%, it's the medivac that's broken. There just is no weakness in a medivac-supported bio ball. That's not balance.
@@davehollis5816 Yeah like... stutter stepping marines is an act of skill. Though it's not as fun to watch, there are counters to it (or just, building enough units to overwhelm). But there's no counter to medivacs picking up marines the moment before the zealots/lings actually arrive - no counterplay esp with medivac boost!

Not ghosts win thoose games, but unstoppable for zerg medivacs hit and run tactic, where main issue is instant pickup that grants 100% save units.

Clem and Serral both plays near perfect. Not even having to get to ghosts, Terran completely mops the floor. Perhaps if Serral places his creep differently is the only way I could see him improving here?
the scan reaches beyond the actually mark. Placing tumors in between macro is already difficult while also defending against drop. Stim M/M/M is over tuned with scan.
You can tell how impacful all the zerg nerfs are lol funny how when serral made zerg seemed unstoppable zerg got nerf multiple times, terrans somehow get buffs lololol

@@rankmayor4076 Which are those? Quickly looking through the channel, every video I can see mentioning Serral has him winning as long as Clem isn't there too. Liquipedia stops its tally at September 1st and obviously doesn't count anything, but only mention wins since his final vs Clem. As far as I can tell, Serral didn't start struggling against other Terrans - last time I checked, he still spanked Maru just fine.
Meanwhile, actual question - as in, I genuinely don't know the answer, but I'm curious. Did Dark or Reynor start losing more to Terrans not named Clem? Do they now lose to players they used to beat, or do they struggle against opponents they used to crush? As far as I can tell, that's not the case, but I don't watch everything, so I'd be curious about actual data showing that top zerg players are now struggling across the board. That at least could be a useful indication.

I really hate when Serral plays like this despite him being my favorite player. Like dude…clam does the same thing over and over. Why would u not build units like hydras to shut down his air harassment? Queens fire way too slow to be effective and ling/bane/roach isn’t very effective.
These losses were deserved on his part.
Because if he plays too well he no longer has a career anymore. His entire career, the company has done nothing but try and make it harder and harder for him to ever win a game.
Hydras take a long time to get started. They need upgrades to be effective, are expensive to produce, and are basically glass cannons. Clem would out produce Serral with cheaper marines and crush the hydras. There’s a reason you rarely see mass hydras in professional games

I think Mutas deal with clem far better than anything against clem. Hydras get absolutely rekt by marine/tank.
Serral has to build around Clem's mobility. Serral has the mechanics and APM to keep up with clem but he keeps trying to make it work with units that continually get countered (lings, blings, roaches, ravagers, sometimes lurkers).
@@JukesMcGee mass mutas are gas heavy and die to marines and widow mines. Raynor used them successfully against Clem a little while back but I think that was just because of the novelty of the strategy. Problem right now is that ghosts literally counter all late game Zerg units - ultralisks, vipers, lurkers, brood lords. Zerg really is lost right now unless then can get a significant income advantage, which Clem doesn’t allow.
If Serral wins here, we will be able to say that dominating defeat from Clem was just a bad day for Serral. GO SERRAL! Kick that filthy terran's face in.
No doubt that Clem is very good but Serral is making to many mistakes! He is so rich that mabe doesn't want to practice as hard any more!
