I was an animator and director professionally for over ten years before I ever picked up a guitar.
I did not know that! =D
And you were so good at them!
What the hell, you can't do ? :D jaja
Your work is beautiful, and the love is clearly there in what you have created!
And it truly shows!!! Well fucking done! I'd love to see a full length film, I know you'd do fantastic.
This six minutes took me 4 months to animate working full time. lol!
I can see why this won so many awards. This is by far the best short film I've ever seen. It's very inspirational and it made me think. The animation is gorgeous, too.
(Also: I felt a twinge of sadness when the skeleton-thing died, and when the narrator said "Don't be sad; it had to end this way" I almost spat out my tea.)
Mata Turtle the narrator is Gary Numan
The ship is called ODOCO (for obvious reasons if you watch the film) the skeleton is an "Odokuro". They are similar that's all.
to this day, the "Don't be sad, it had to end this way." line always gets me. it makes me happy, it's genuinely changed my perspective about death and mourning... beautiful movie
This was like Tim Burton meets The Twilight Zone! I love the animation! When his eyes said FU that made me laugh!
F U. Get it? Fuck yo.😆😹
Me Too
You put it really well.
You have entered The Scary Door.
Oh my GOTH, I would have never imagined that Voltaire himself would team up with the one and only Gary Numan!!! This is a masterpiece, a really beautiful piece of art!! I love!!!
LMAO YOU SAID "OH MY GOTH" UNIRONICALLY
@@rainbowrotcod talking to yourself 3 years later is a vibe 😭
Thanks for watching!!!
The ending is so Twilight Zone-ish. This whole story is very beautiful with a dark touch. I love how it ended with showing that, no matter how different we may think we are, we all end the same way. This really makes me want to write something.
It's like watching an episode of The Twilight Zone mixed with the stop motion animation of both Phil Tippet and Ray Harryhausen. Excellent and thought provoking at the same time
Well that was awesome! Seeing Gary Numan’s name in the credits surprised the hell from me but did make sense, and then Larry Fessenden’s name seemingly came up to finish the job! Just wonderful stuff.
this is an expressive and strong way of expression that conquered me. Congrats, voltaire. You are a not-know-poetic-genious. I'm honored to cheer you.
This was simply amazing. All of it, from start to finish, is a work of art. Not that I expected anything less, but it truly is a masterpiece. Very, very well done.
For a black & white film this was surprisingly very visually pleasing. I also immensely enjoyed the subtle bits of humor. Overall an excellent stop motion film.
And people say black and white movies aint good no more.
Never realized Voltaire was quite this hugely talented.
Very clever, some interesting and subtle additions in there, the cassette box of replicas, the glint of creation in the eye, the F and U and I think deliberate mistake with the portable reel to reel very well done sir.
Absolutely gorgeous work. Yet another reason Voltaire is king of the media arts.
This is incredible. Voltaire continues to amaze me!
dang,that's some nice sound design
Thank you so much for uploading (and of course making) this!
Gary Numan !
Saw this at Dragon*Con 2011 and LOVED it! Glad to be able to watch it again...and again and again ^_^
Quite a beautiful narration of the questions that plague humanity, and the thoughts that follow as we ponder. Thank you for this timely reminder of why we must lose our loved ones. I love you, V, and thank you for once again bringing me back to life.
That was really something, Voltaire. Thank you for uploading it.
This is something very special. Thank you for sharing this with us!
amazing as always, man, it was worth the wait, thanks for sharing it with us!!!
Finally watched this at just the right time. Thank you.
Thank you for making such a beautiful piece of art. Deserved every award it received.
Well, dig up Rod Serling and let's make it happen. ; )
A masterpiece. Short and sweet. No unneeded filler or annoying detail. Lol. This has me convinced all movies can be condensed into less than 30 videos. :D
Mr. Voltaire, this is utterly wonderful. You have outdone yourself once again with a sheer masterpiece of incredible animation.
Truly amazing! Time well spent creating and time well spent watching.
I really enjoyed the playful back and forth the visual and narration. The messages planted in the story were nice reminders as well. Well done!
That was absolutely fabulous Voltaire! It definitely deserved all the awards it received.
I've been looking forward to this and it was well worth the wait!
so many years later and here i am. i still adore this video.
This was absolutely beautiful. I never had a taste for this sort of thing, but your work indeed changed that, even if just for six amazing minutes. Thanks, and keep up your awesome work!
Incredible as always. I like how a discourse on the nature of the unexplainable blends perfectly with the nature of life itself.
2:23 IS IT THE FUCKING GREAT J-ROCK BAND BUCK-TICK?!?! OH DEAR I LOVE YOU!!!!
Marine Tiemblo
The narrator is Gary Numan, who's album Replicas is right next one theirs in that hit :)
Awesome, loved it! Thanks for posting it Voltaire :3
So excited that I finally got to see this!!! Thanks so much for posting it. I've been wanting to see it since I missed the Dragon*Con screening 2 years ago.
A brilliant 4 months work of work. Loved it!!
Splendid work,Mr.Voltaire! The narration was amazing and the animation was beautiful!
Absolutely brilliant, cuz. The whole concept of this film is absolutely amazing. (Also in awe that you got Gary Numan to narrate it.)
This is awesome! And very well done, too. The detail is amazing for this type of film. Good job! :D
Wonderful work! I love the thought that went into this, as well as the animation! Bravo!
The dialogue is genius and the ending is just amazing... to sum it all up, I love this with a fiery passion.
As an animation student who has also loved your music for years, this is nothing short of inspiration.
That was sooo awesome.. nice choice too with Gary narrating.. brilliant.. loved it..
AMAZING!! Loved every single moment of it!!
This is GENIUS! I loved it. Excellent work!
I have been waiting SO LONG to see this! Soooooo worth the wait. Simply brilliant, Voltaire, absolutely stunning; as all your stop motion pieces are.
This is pretty cool. I love the stop motion that you used to make this film. I would actually like to see more. You did a great job on this one.
this is just absolutely fantastic, amazing work
Me, showing this to a friend: "...I believe you will enjoy this." Her, a few minutes later: "HOT DAMN".
Really nice! I really loved it! the style, the music, hats of to you Voltaire! :)
GEEEZ. Not only do you make GREAT music, that was a great animation, and some really interesting points you brought up. Bravo!

3:37 Can I get an F in the chat for our skelly dude
This is amazing! You are awesome!
This is great. I have been waiting for this forever. Also the clockwork skeleton brings to mind the beast from the movie 9.
very wonderfully done master Voltaire I wish you much success in this industry
RUclips needs to have a "LOVE" button!
Wow! Out of this world... This is brilliant! You sir, are a bloody genius. Hoping some day we'll get a 2 hour animated film by Aurelio Voltaire

That, my friend, was just simply awesome and amazing.
Well done, Voltaire! this is fantastic, and I'm glad to see that your hard work certainly wasn't all for naught.

After waiting so long to see this movie, I am not disappointed in the least. My expectations have been surpassed and have once again proven your genius, Voltaire. Bravo. I hope I may e lucky enough to one day meet you and learn from you.
This was phenomenal. I really enjoyed it.
I absolutely love it! It is a brilliant movie. A work of art which leaves you with chills creeping down your spine!
this is f**king awesome man!! U have all my Gratitude.
Voltaire like always you leave me speechless....keep up the goodwork.
This is possibly the coolest film ever made.
Amazingly done, always been curious about your animation.
I don't think the FU is just funny. It's a symbol for the roadblocks in life turning an innocent, unsullied soul cynical before the hatred and drive to conquer makes it stronger. Great touch. I had to watch this again.
Exactly!
That was amazing! 🖤
PS: this didn't really happen, you know... it's an animated film. Just saying...
Dear Voltaire,
You're a Guitar Savant, a singer-songwriter, a poet and now a cinematographer...
Is there anything you CAN'T do?! xD
anyway as always love your work!
That sentence has given me so much hope.
Great work !
Thank you ; )
nice work didnt know you did animations like this its very good

I absolutely love everything you do! You’re such an amazing well rounded artist! You are up there with who I’d like to meet some day! And I don’t have anyone on that list who is of your quality. Much respect. Much respect. 🦑
Simply amazing!
I used to be an Animation student and this is very inspiring. Nicely done, great animation and very fitting music. Nice job. :)
absolutely amazing!
I wish I could express how much I love this, but there are no words, my mind has been blown.
Truely astonishing and amazing
