  • This is one of the best covers I've ever heard by anyone. It's also in my opinion the first big heavy metal song, and perhaps still the best...as witnessed by how many people have tried to cover it over the years, but never successfully like this!
What I did to the audio was make it a big faster, change the formats of the voice and cymbals and gave it a tiny mastering tweek. I also added an outro from the original Beatles version with a different fadeout (however for the video effect I added crowd to the video mix).
Rob Zombie debuted this song at my favorite concert spot anywhere, Pine Knob Ampitheater (temporarily was called DTE Energy Music Theater for awhile). The opening audio is an edited recording of that very show. With him at that debut was none other than Marilyn Manson! Man did they pull off a hell of a cover...pun intended.
Yes I know Charles Manson destroyed the song for many, but I don't agree with that any more than Beach Boys fans not listening to the song Never Learn Not To Love that a very rough version was penned by Charles Manson, before Dennis Wilson and The Beach Boys totally reinvented it.
One of the major reasons this cover sounds so good, is the background vocals were done in the original Beatles style, blending and all and sound so convincing. Amazing!
Thanks to the 5 or 6 people who uploaded decent cell phone footage of Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson and Nikki Sixx performing this. I synced up all the takes to my remix....which took forever...and edited it for the best angles and memorable moments, which there are many.
This is a very special video considering Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson are giants in their genre, and they were joined by Motley Crue's bassist Nikki Sixx, who seems to defy age, and definitely helped pave the way for the 2.
It's also is special because it reunited Marilyn Manson with his ex-guitarist Johnny 5! They got along great too! AND HOW COOL is the BONUS FEATURE AT 0:00 where Nikki Sixx comes on stage and Johnny 5 starts playing perfect Motley Crue guitar riffs from various songs before heading into a live performance of The Beatles' classic Helter Skelter? I used 2 different video streams of the same concert in Los Angeles, and edited them together for the best viewer experience.
Near the beginning, the video footage is from my stereo HD remaster of the movie Summer Dreams...a movie telling the story behind The Beach Boys past. Of course Dennis Wilson for a short period of time befriended Charles Manson, before discovering he was insane. Watch the movie to figure out what went on.
There are also little clips of old video footage of news and events. It also includes a segment of Paul McCartney jamming and writing Helter Skelter with The Beatles in the studio.
I would have loved to have seen this in person.
I hope you enjoy this remix and music video.
Here's hoping for more of the same in the future!
Also RIP to Taylor Hawkins of The Foo Fighters. Rock And Roll will feel the echo of your passing for years. (my remastered picture at the end, downsized to HD)
