    When it came to roasting pam it was so normalized to make fun of dark skinned phenotype that I didn’t think anything of it. It seemed normal to make fun of Afrocentric things. You don’t really realize how it affects you until you’re older

      You're right! The anti-blck conditioning affects us on a subconscious level. When I met my husband, I was surprised that he never made any backhanded comment about my skin color, hair texture, features as a DSBW. He was the first guy that I ever dated that didn't insult me because of those things. When I told him that he told me "What? That's not normal for people to do that, that's NOT okay. There's nothing wrong with you, you're perfect this way." That's the first time I realized it was wrong to be treated that way; it was so normal in my world to be bullied for being blck by EVERYONE. I was 19 when we had that conversation. 💔

    The only girls who were allowed to be natural and didn't have to get relaxers or curly perms aka the Jheri curl back in the day was mixed girls or black girls with wavy and loosely curled. If you were black with loosely curled hair. Other black people would often say you got that good hair. Even in the natural hair community a lot of girls with very kinky hair wish they had loose curl patterns and it's sad.

    Girl!! There are gonna be multiple comments left by me today as I listen 😂
    First & foremost: thank you for reiterating the self deprecating statements of parents around their young boys & girls when discussing hair. We need to be MINDFUL in our vocabulary. Glass half full, not empty. We put each other down more than outsiders do us.
    We should be attracted to OUR OWN phenotype before another’s. So, show some real self respect & love moving forward. This is for my black women AND men 💯

    Everyday I strive to love and accept my curly hair, but I've chosen not to wear my hair out and free only because its at a short length that I don't like right now, but mostly I keep it covered to keep my hair moisturized and keep the length and ends of my hair tucked away and protected.

      @@ebonywatson9939 I think hair care differs based on porosity AND texture. A straight hair person with high porosity and coily hair person with high porosity going to need different approaches. Straight hair (regardless of the porosity) not going to need as much slip in their products, they aren't going to need a specific detangling brush/ tools, they aren't going to need to stretch their hair, they probably aren't going to need products with much hold or defining properties etc. Same for coily vs curly. I think each texture needs its own approach and yes knowing your porosity helps as well.

    Firstly I looooveee your channel. Wow, I am so happy I have stumbled upon it. In the last two years I have been on a journey of loving my coils in its most natural state. I have come from wearing weaves and dramatic baby hairs for years. This has altered my self image and at a time i didnt feel pretty without someone elses hair type on my head or "edges".
    In 2022 I had to cut all my hair off. Unfortunately this was a result of domestic violence, however it helped me reshape my self perception. God truly carried me through and I never stopped praying that he help me see myself the way he sees me

      @@CoffeeCuties777I kind of beg the differ when you said that black men like natural hair. From my experience a lot of them prefer looser curl types. I have 4b very thick and densed hair that looks more curly when ever I wash and condition it and apply leave in conditioner, cream moisturizer, and blue magic hair grease. I've been told that I have good hair. I remember standing in line waiting on some food that I ordered in a restaurant. I had done some two strand mini twist that day. And there was this black man standing next to me and he was looking at my hair and he told me my hair was beautiful and in my mind I was thinking this is a brother that loves a black woman with her natural hair. Before I can tell him thank you. He went on to say I like your natural hair because it don't look all nappy like other black women. Some black women shouldn't even be natural. I told him that all hair types are beautiful no matter the texture .
      And he said nah nah nah if it's too nappy I ain't feeling that. I'm so happy that you didn't experience any negative comments towards your hair. But unfortunately a lot of women and girls with 4C type hair do experienced that when it comes to black men and black people.

    • @rosam674
      @rosam674 4 месяца назад +3

      Pin-straight hair is actually more of an East Asian trait ... than a European trait. Europeans tend to have a slight texture to their hair. It all has to do with the cross-sectional shape of the hair shaft. Asians have round shafts, Europeans have slightly oval shafts, while Africans have very defined pinched oval shafts. This determines the angle at which the hair grows from the scalp.

      I find that High Po hair needs more protein. So you may need to up your protein in your wash day routine. I generally use protein every time I wash my hair. I use various types of protein - henna, rice water, bonding treatments (Loreal/Redkin), Ayurveda powders, Aphogee 2 step. You have to find out what works for you but it definitely reduces the hair fall and gives your hair the strength it needs. Hope that helps 😊
