I use hair grease on my hair it absolutely been a game changer for me. It’s made my hair grow long and it’s a lot thicker.

Dax - Blue Magic and the like are making a comeback are they… yeh good ole hair grease… does exactly what it says on the tin… it greases up hair alright but I would definitely not use any of these gloopy dust attractors on my tresses now… uh uh no way fam cos just like you can block the pores on your face then you can also do the same to your scalp… some of these greases are literally just chemicals and harsh parabens which will seep into the pores of your scalp / brains and also will block hair follicles affecting healthy growth if they’re used too often over a long period… yessir hair grease needs to stay put back in yesteryear where it belongs in my blessed opinion… light moisturisers / non comedogenic oils is where’s its at for me…. I've never stopped using it, my scalp is dry & thirsty and only grease can moisturise & condition it correctly. Lady Renee yellow grease is my go to, but it isn't manufactured anymore. I'm on my last can so I keep it in my fridge to prolong it.

Yes they are talking about Black woman right in their faces using Spanish, some of the Dominican salons are racist they are really brainwashed by their oppressors to think White is superior they hang White hair models pictures around the shop but most of the clients supporting them are Black. They use "Vigor" hair chemical in their shampoo to straighten natural hair! They are doing that! Majority of them. They will never get my money again. Silk press is way more beautiful and healthy looking also!

No, we are ruining our own hair by going to them. I went a year ago to this one shop and lost all of my hair. I asked for a wash and deep conditioning They put some kind of chemical in it without me knowing. I realized it when I washed my hair the next time. There was a strong sulfer smell like the way a perm smells. I have been smelling this scent each time I wash my hai and it sheaded so badly over time until I started to get it braided again because I was so embarrassed about how much my hair fell out overtime. I'm done with them! Straight hair is not that deep! If they are doing this on purpose, then we need to put these tricks out of business. This is our house!

I gotta have my hair butters, creams m, oils and yes. Hair grease. I am 67 with a full head of thick, luscious, healthy natural hair! No way my hair would thrive without butters, creams, oils and old school hair grease.

We have to admit the main set of women who worshipped type 3 hair was black women with 4c and type 4 hair, I was there for the beginning of the movement and I saw the pure worship in the comments under the type 3 videos. They were pushed to the top by type 4 women.

The Mielle pomegranate line and Braggs ACV were staples… once Braggs sold, my ACV stopped work the same and caused dryness. Then Mielle started to dry my hair out. This last wash day my hair was so dry and tangled that I had a lot of breakage. It felt like I had gotten in a swimming pool. Shopping for new products to use now.

I'm 61 and I've never seen so many Sistas with various forms of hair loss in my Life! I'm not saying using Dixie Peach, Royal Crown & or Ultra Sheen hair greases, growing up, staved off hair loss. However, our hair wasn't constantly covered, & daily use of chemicals, heat, and or adhesives weren't applied either.

Dominicans hate coily hair. They burn it straight. They talk shit in Spanish about our hair (altho many of them have similsr textures). Do not suppprt those people. They are not licensed anyway, that is partly why they are so cheap. Only the owner has a license.

I go to a Dominican Salon and my hairdresser has 4A hair and is extremely respectful to me and my hair. My hair is thriving. My natural hair gets a “Botox” treatment WITHOUT FORMALDEHYDE and my girl takes GREAT care of my hair. You can’t “Stereotype” a whole cultural group of people. My natural hair returns back to normal after 3 months. Ask questions..! Do your research! Danggggggggg!!! It is soooooo WRONG to categorize ALL DOMINICAN SALONS as the same! You are wrong for this. The rosemary & mint hair serum ruined my 4C hair! While using this product, my scalp became scabbed over! I also suffered thinning and extreme shedding. Initially, I thought it was possible health issues. I had a complete physical and blood panel work done that came back fine. I finally discovered that hundreds of other ladies suffered the same thing I had after doing my own research! I'll never use ANYTHING from Mielle again!

I was tcb grease using girl before they changed it in the 2000s( I think ) but now oddly enough blue magic sells one similar to the original tcb. I never liked the original blue magic bc it was just toooo heavy so I now use the yellow or green blue magic. I know they say people with scalp issues should not use grease like that but I found the opposite to be true with my younger daughter’s hair. I found that her hair loves to clarified with sulfate shampoos and greased afterwards and when I switch up she pays dearly for it. I have had the most problems when her hair got too dry or when her diet was off. Also I heard Bronner Brothers grease is blacked owned so you might like that one. As for doo gro I say give it a try it’s not bad.

I've been natural for about 20 years and grew up in NY. I went to the Dominican hair salons sparingly when I had relaxed hair and maybe once or twice since I've been natural. I only felt comfortable enough going bc I can speak Spanish and can dictate how much heat they use on my hair. Definitely wouldnt recommend if you cant communicate with your stylist.

Hair grease is basically coloured vaseline with extra oils. It is perfectly safe for skin and hair.

Greasing my scalp will never “make a come back”. My mom did not grease my scalp and I never will. I have to keep my scalp clean and clear. Now, as a child, my mother greased THE LENGTH of my hair. Personally I make my own grease, palmades and anti itch products

I grew up on Royal Crown growing up and I fondly see it in Walmart stores today. I love trying new or revised products but I am holding back as I remember as a child it never helped the growth of my hair length.

I have Nature’s Blessing under my sink but I only used it once before I discovered that oil and seborrehic dermatitis don’t mix. Maybe just on lengths and ends every now and then.

From my understanding, most Dominican salons are not licensed. In most of the salons you never see professional products that have to be purchased by a licensed stylist. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't think grease ever left. My mom sold Bronner Brothers in the 90s and 2000s so I got a chance to witness all of the trends in the beauty colleges, beauty salons, and barbershops. I think grease is good as a sealant, such as putting a moisturizer on and sealing it with grease. I have always wondered if the grease used back in the 50s through the 90s is the same grease being used now. Are they using the same ingredients or did they change it? I never quite learned how to truly explore all of the ways I could use grease because I started using oils and butters in 2010. Now that I work in a natural health/hair store, I don't think I will ever go back, mainly due to the toxic ingredients that I have seen in grease and also because we carry so many carrier oils, essential oils, loose herbs and butters (mango, shea, cocoa, kukum, etc) that I don't have to go anywhere and buy it. But if I did use grease again, I would avoid my scalp and just put it on the ends as a sealant. Also, animal fats have helped my hair too and indigenous tribes in North America would use it on their hair, such as bear fat. I have only used emu oil and it was amazing LOL
