@Britney24able i think a better way of saying is something like -
"playing an instrument isnt about doing fast rhythmic patterns or progression but its about playing it for REAL. Playing it with SOUL" Anything less than that its just nothing. You'll feel nothing from the person thats playing whatever he/she is playing if there isnt any soul put into it.
Still, today there are enough people out there who thinks fast chops is above everything.

I wonder if its the melody and the ecstatic state of loving some song ,that drives a drummer to perform complicated movements, or is it just clear technique under that.
I cannot have the answer on my own because i ve never played an instrument except of a cheep quitar and some musical books ,trying to learn notes before years (i quited because the strings were broken and couldnt find others to replace XD) lol i was recording myself in a cheep transistor -great times but unfortunately hard

But these covers here if you have watched them all like me :) are mostly her versions and she notify that a lot .I think i've learned a lot about drums from this particular channel in a small amount of time ,I guess i always wanted to play an instrument and never had the chance. I encourage very parent to try to learn an music instrument to their kids ,and if they dont like it they can quit it, BUT some of them may ..
I think that its not her beauty alone. Most men here wanting to go out with her or marry her, first off all they are not serious ,but even if they were , i think it is because every man wants to have an intelligent woman beside, but because most of men are insufficient in that subject, they keep in their ultimate fantasy a beautifull and smart prototype of a woman - imagine if this prototype is better in strenght as well -the attraction becomes even stronger.

Ok i can understand that Cindy Blackman is a great drummer, but Emmanuelle was the exception of the exception. First a female drummer and second that she defended pop music - too hard for nowdays. She is the kind of drummer learned from gyus like Jeff Porcaro and that says it all. People always had the perception that great guitarists foe example were only in rock bands, ...
being a perv and having talent aren't mutually exclusive, women gravitate towards singing more then drums anyways from what i've noticed. I think most women have been conditioned for centuries to stick with monotonous tasks anyways. lssrisk Now women are becoming more independent so maybe you will se more famous drummers. whether you agree with that or not. I mean what women is the equivalent to Tesla/Einstein/Beethoven/Bach etc. Priorities for the most part just aren't the same female vs male.
Chill out. Have you every pondered the possibility that musical talent is and attractive quality? There's no need to be so unpleasant. Just let guys be guys, and sit back and laugh at them. When you retaliate with comments like that, it isn't changing any d-bag's mind. It's just strengthening his bias. She's great at drums, she's hot (forgive my gross man-comment), and her talent adds to it.
@darktirador Do you use the double bass perfectly as Meytal does? It's not all about speed. It's about placing a complicated rythm with your right arm, another complicated rythm with your left arm, and then another with each leg! Seriously, I know how to use double bass as you think it is only used for. But I just can't use it as perfectly as Meytal does! It's one of the hardest things to do as a drummer!
Haha! Its so funny im getting bashed for saying every 1 doesnt have to be able to double bass and play a difficult beat when i specifically said FAST & DIFICULT IS AWESOME! hahaha! Thats what I play myself! :) but she is very comfy and having fun in HER STYLE OF PLAYING & shes having fun doin it! :) nothin more nothing less. & I have no hate towards my bashers! :D u have ur opinnion like I have mine *peace&love*
yo cant say nothing about her playing. she started with a snare drum and now youd be stupid if you compaired her to a male drummer because she will blow most drummers i know off the stage. she does it all with a big smile and you can tell she feels greatfull to make a living with the drums. when is the last time a male was ever satisfied with their overal grasp of theroy and notation? bottom line she's damn good, beautifull, and just have fun guys thats what its about
Great Drum Cover! However this is what I've noticed when people play this song. During the part where the guitar is playing the melody(before the verses & bridge), there is a crash going on while playing the hi hat. Most people miss that for some reason. I pay attention to detail a lil too much. But that is what makes that song great cause it great independent work & it's simple cool. Just thought I'd point that out. Still though, you're a super cool drummer!
Um yeah.. I wont directly reply to the haters here but... This chick knows what she is doing. First of all, she played this entire clip without screwing up or even the slightest bit of hesitation.
As far as this nonsense about "holding female drummers up to the same standard as males"... this girl can outdrum probably more than 50% of every male drummer out there.
Oh and uh.. she's easy on the eyes.. very sexy =)
@AlexanderPimm I really have no doubt that she can "operate well in other modes", however - this video was clearly a marketing move on her part. She could have picked a million more complex songs that she could have played with her eyes closed and still she didn't. It would seem nowadays everyone is applying the "Cobus" method (not that I'm saying he can't play) in order to gain popularity.
@PodmornicaFTW I respect your opinion but I must disagree. One of the hallmarks of a good percussionist is to be able to operate well in other modes. IE rock funk reggae country etc and I actually rather like her cover of muse. they are one of my all time favorite bands. I think it is great t see talent coming from so many different places and backgrounds and I don't think that limiting the talent to one preferred method is the right thing to do...

Hey !!! you are rockin it out and it sounds great! can i say something tho?! I think something that will help you a lot of with your playing is your chair height. even though everyone has their own preference, if you do lower your chair height your going to have a better posture over your drums instead of hunching over them. You'll have a lot easier rim shot and it will free up your leg for more independence with your hi hat :D:D. hope it helps !!!
I am watching tones of drum videos lately ,but returning here i always understand what is to quadriplify yourlself :) .I mean left hand fast like a lightning, right hand chopping with rythm like an axe . right foot keeping the right pace ,and left foot perfectly and gently hitting the hi hat. And all that in different time and rythm cycles. Quadriple sound attack 8D!!!!!
..but what about Aldi Meola or McLaughlin or DeLucia. See thats my point and i dont wanna defend only softcore music ,i personally prefer rock music but thats not the point , Iheard her playing Sting and that it was ,i fell in love with her groove-period. Also as far as i understood she doesnt present herself as only pop , she has a rock personality as well.
Honestly this girl made me to visit a music store and look at a Yamaha (non-metallic) drum kit (1650 euros) and really think about it as a hobby. It went through my mind but i am kinda old for that. Then i cutted two wooden sticks from a tree and i pretended drummin watchin her clips. Conclusion: this girl is
a real inspiration.

I mean, Emmanuelle is no Bowling For Soup drummer BUT she's attractive and has more energy than Meytal Cohen. THAT Jewish Princess is quite sedate when upon the skins. You can tell her skins are NOT made of pig.
If you judge her just based on this performance, well, yes it's pretty simple groove but take the time to watch all her clips, especially the ones with rudiments, and come back with updated comments please. She good enough to do clinics for Sonor in few countries so.. she can delivers way more than this one.
yes she is ok .i like show drummers .this to me is 2 years of drumming any one can do this with 2 years of lessons.nothing like buddy rich or louie bellson .i m talking drum solos not just play along with music.go to you tube .there is this unknown drummer i found.his name is fon morcus. he is a other louie bellson or buddy rich. that is the best i ever on show drumming .
@FunkBeatsandBass She plays solid, but this is not a hard song to play and I guess there is no sense in your 50% estimation... One thing for sure: her technique is awful. You don't play with the floor drums so low, when you stroke a floor drum your arm must make a little more than a 90º angle, and it's for sound and posture. If that snare isn't triggered I'd be surprised
I did not like the ride at first, and now after listening to this a few times to try pinpoint what was so odd about it, I can't. :) I think it's the fact that it doesn't crash well, so as you lay into it, the stick becomes more pronounced with a little bit of wash under it... What kind of ride is this? I like that sound.
well i thought that Meytal was best female drummer till i found Emmanuelle:) Meytal is good but Emmanuelle have that something missing from all female drummers,she play with grace and passion and she share those emotions with us :) Great is not enough to describe Her :)
Emmanuelle you're amazing! I wonder if you're interested in the new dream theater drummer as well? have you seen the first two episodes of the auditions? I know you mentiond that you like Thomas Langs playing. thought youd be interested in seeing the process.
Emmanuelle, those toms sound amazing! How do you tune them? Do you tighten the top head and loose the bottom one? Or the other way around? Or maybe both heads tightened? Or both heads sligthly loose?

I love her hard rock doing, whether she maybe raher likes fusion. She's one of my favourite drummers. You could see, she's heaving fun by playing, thats's very impotant to play drums. Shit... I could wach this the whole day, becouse it's hard/heavy and because she' so pretty.

I am so happy that she is in competition between men ,and actually Caplette is better than most male drumers ,and those drumers respect that. This happens mostly because they have the balls to admit it. RESPECT

@Britney24able I wish people like you stop bashing people who actually try to be technical in drumming. enjoying yourself is not enough. technicality in the end is what makes you good at a given instrument.
I find it funny how many people dis her for song choice and the vocal, can't you ever hear a song in a new light? just because it was written and originally recorded by muse doesn't mean that thats the only way it can be heard.
nice drumming! but in the original the after the first mesure of the riff at the start he goes onto the ride and plays the hats open on the off beats with his left hand, NICE sounding drums, did you tune them yourself?
@JaskaJunior not just the pre verse, it's every part as such. it's also a 16th note pattern on the eight note rests in the verses as well. but it's all good. a lot of people just kind of fake their way through it.
to me,,,the way to play is,,,, the way you hear,,,yes most of us can play like the orignal,,,,but whats the fun n that if you cant mix it up and play how we feel?????good job,,,may your new year bring you many new blessings

Nice playing! I'm working on sitting as high as you are, but I think (in my humble opinion) that the drums, specially the snare, are a little bit low for me, but it seems you have no problem with it, lol.
Simple and tight. Some of the emerging women drummers I'm seeing are doing well with their footwork or sticking but when combined it gets loose and sloppy. Your kit is well miked too. Nicely done!
@slashdelbarrio I'd agree with what you said and just add that the 'better than 50%' is subjective; based on my criteria. I'm all about groove so this girl scores a lot of points in my book.
@skier123453 I agree that female drummers should be held to the same standard, but you can't go comparing every drummer out there to Billy Cobham. She's not Billy Cobham, but she's very good.

@apestosin1 Lux is great, but limited for metal only on normal technic level. Look for other vids of Emmanuelle, she can play all stuff, with a high level on technic... except metal! ;-)
Nothing and I mean nothing feels better to us drummers to be in the pocket and hit it all on time. I love how you can see it on her face. I love this girl. She's got somthin'....
That was great drumming but I can assure you that was an easy exercise for her. She could have done that in her sleep, forward and backward with her hands tied behind her back. Seriously, she is a 5th Degree Black Belt Ninga Drummer with thousands of hours instruction and practice under her belt in the field of musical percussion. Always fun to watch her performances.

@totomgs double bass isn't all technique it just goes to show if your fast at doing double bass patterns means you got the best technique... I bet Emma can do double bass too

The actual drumming part was awesome, but the miming instruments was awkward as hell, and that vocalist was pretty bad. All in all good vid though.

OK, but you're missing half othe strokes, right hand should play rides while left alternates hihat and snare, that's the only catch to this song
It's all about her being a "hot" drummer chick. I ca guarantee you, if Em was 100 pounds heavier, she would NOT be getting this kind of attention.
