Thank you. I was in a marriage in which I was physically abused for many years. I never hit her back. I called the police once and they told me, "You're a man. Get over it". She also cheated on me constantly and I even had a recording of her and her boyfriend plotting to kill me.
When I left her, my friends didn't congratulate me like when a woman gets out of an abusive relationship, they told me to be a man and take it for the kids. At divorce court, her female attorney insisted that I owed her alimony because she was a woman and she deserved it.
People do not realize how many men out there are abused and do not retaliate or report it.

I'm only 22 years old, and I would already absolutely describe myself as a misanthrope, I grew up in a single mother household with a long list of my emotionally damaged moms abusive "boyfriends" coming and going, I've been in low income housing, my first four years of my life where me and my teenage mother jumping from couch to homeless shelter, I saw the worst of what modern society had to offer be it drug addiction or sex crimes or even just people in a higher tax bracket treating you like your lesser. by 14 years old I got kicked out of my home by my BPD mother and jumped from group home to group home, now Imagine, having experienced all of that, and already having a bad opinion of other people, and now you are being told to your face, now that your a homeless teenage boy your evil and a risk to women everywhere, how you should never be left alone with children or anywhere near them, how your worth is so little because your part of a demographic that commits crimes and rarely accomplishes anything, after years of abuse and mistreatment, be it physically or emotionally, I had to drag my ass into a better life, I had to fight for my position in college, (despite being told to my face that I don't qualify for half the scholarships because their BIPOC only) and now here I am, a young man whos attending college, I'm not associated with any of those risk factors anymore, I pulled my ass out of the fire, and now because I am a "Straight White Male" in such a "Cushy" position, I know nothing about the struggles of people of color, of discrimination or fear to walk outside at night, because I'm not part of any victim group anymore, I'm once again a "Threat" and should apologize for those who actually do whatever crimes I'm being told I'm capable of. I subscribe to the idea that "a person is smart, people are dumb", I don't assign myself to any group, be it victim or otherwise, and I will not endure anything from those who do not know me, I am my own person, not a risk factor, not a statistic, I am just me

Stay strong man. There's good and bad, but keep making good choices and it will all be worth it. I grew up very poor, in a home with no electricity in the hills of Vermont. I've never met anyone who grew up poorer... the welfare people I knew had it much easier. I somehow always believed I'd go to college, and did, despite similar social drawbacks as you, including my own grandmother telling me "Why would you want all that debt" when I went along my college path. I still don't know exactly how the financing went, I just pushed and pushed and made it thru. I was mid-30's before I had the college loans paid off, and around that time we got our first home. I worked when others f|_|cked off, but made sure I had some fun along the way too. Most importantly, make your own luck with choices and not burning bridges. Take educated chances. I'm solidly middle class now and can provide for my kids, and hopefully will end up with a retirement in which I can provide for the grandkids too. And by provide, I mean educate.

And now being told I'm not good enough for any women and need to work on myself to some unknown goal even after all I've dealt with.

    • @dharmadasa66
      @dharmadasa66 10 месяцев назад +4

The definition of rape is being changed across jurisdiction to make it legally impossible to accuse female perpetrators. It used to be sex without consent, and could apply equally to females as well as a male victim who was drugged, asleep, incapacitated eg wheelchair, tied down or a minor (who cannot consent). Now the definition is changing to penetration without consent, thus a woman who has sex with a male victim who is drugged, incapacitated, tied down or a minor (who cannot consent) is not guilty of rape. The only way a women under this definition can rape is if she digitally penetrates her victim anally. This was at the insistence of the feminist lobby and not only does not allow for lack of consent from men as a factor, but also effectively decriminalises sex between adult women and children of both sexes. This is a huge problem because there are many many examples of adult women having sex with children. Such women, if they fall pregnant from an underage male victim, can sue him for child support. Again, an outcome sought by feminism.

Best part is if I point that out, I am suddenly not allowed to contribute to the discussion because I am a man.
If they can make boys standup to apologise collectively for the violence their gender imposed upon women, I demand a collective apology by women towards me for making fun of me, sexually harassing me and shaming me in front of my whole class back in college. And it was not one, it was a group of girls imposing violence upon a male classmate. Thus the potential for violence and abuse is there.

My mom had personality disorders that made her murderously violent. I'm not being hyperbolic. In my late 20s I sought trauma therapy for the childhood abuse. Cutting the story to social media size, the therapist convinced me since I was the male I was the one responsible for the domestic violence and my mom was responding in self-defense. The therapist talked me into apologizing to my mom. Fortunately, I was later able to break out of that thinking and come to terms with the fact my mom had serious mental-health problems and I wasn't to blame for them.

I rarely comment on RUclips but felt compelled to after watching this video.
I literally had a huge falling out with a close friend of mine over the statements made by Baroness Jones about the curfew on men after 6pm.
I was gobsmacked when I first read the article and posted a link in our WhatsApp group stating how ridiculous it was.
(Though, just to clarify , I later found out it had been said somewhat in jest. As a hit back at people, mostly men, saying women should stay home past a certain time in order to feel safe. Which is equally ridiculous)
To my utter shock this friend of mine, including one other (who are both male) chimed in and stated they thought it was a good idea or at least worth consideration.
I couldn't contain my disgust and promptly left the WhatsApp group and haven't gone back in since.
Immediately after Id left, one of these friends messaged me privately stating I needed to "get a grip" after he'd just advocated a 6pm curfew on all men.
We then had a huge back and forth about the issue and about gender politics in general.
In which I stated that the steps being taken to encourage men to alter or recognise behaviour that could be considered damaging were ill informed, extreme and damaging to the self esteem of young men everywhere.
I was sick and tired of seeing all men being tarred with the same brush.
Of men being portrayed as nothing but mindless, aggressive, predators, who are all just biding our time waiting to assault someone.
I've got two young nephews, as well as close friends with sons, and I cringe at the thought of them being raised in a society in which men are portrayed as nothing but things to be feared.
He equated this to me trying to make it all about myself. Trying to detract from women's issues in society and claimed I was incapable of seeing things from someone else's perspective whilst completely dismissing mine.
I also raised the point as you did Sydney about women, or indeed anyone who doesn't feel safe walking the streets, to be encouraged and able to defend themselves.
By being able to carry a non lethal weapon of some kind, or perhaps take some kind of self defense courses in order to protect themselves? In the absence of greater physical strength or skill, you need something to bridge that gap.
Is this an ideal situation? No. Should anyone feel as though they have to do that in order to feel safe? No.
But, unfortunately, we don't live in a utopia.
And I argued that before the system comes anywhere near the situation, a person's safety is first and foremost their responsibility. Be they male, female or anything in between.
    It's just basic self preservation.
Also, let's be honest, most of the time the police aren't going to turn up until after a crime has been committed.
There simply aren't enough of them on the streets. And if there were a police officer on every street corner it would start to feel a bit like martial law.
He completely flew off the handle, got incredibly personal with his insults. Claimed all of my statements were coming from a deep seeded insecurity around women, said I was victim shaming and made out I was suggesting women should be "kitted up like Rambo" everywhere they go in order to feel safe.
Also stating that he worried about his girlfriend anytime she left the house alone.
His girlfriend being an intelligent, grown adult, more than capable of taking care of herself. Yet, once again, I was the one who needed to "get a grip".
He also didn't seem to recognise the ironic chauvinism in his comments. As suggesting a curfew on men is akin to saying women need a "big strong man around" to protect them. Even if the way they do that is by staying home past a certain time.
Make no mistake. No one wants to see or hear of a news article about a woman, or indeed anyone, being the victim of an assault. It's terrible to see or hear of such things.
I myself have three sisters, and would be devastated and furious if they were set upon in the streets.
And I fully appreciate why women can and do feel unsafe around men in certain situations.
But blaming all men is not the answer. It's not smart, progressive or helpful.
    You cannot fight sexism with sexism and I could only see this going one of two ways;
    A) Men, particularly young men and boys, will grow up having virtually no self esteem and feel as though there is something inherently wrong with them leading to severe mental health issues;
    B) It will create a deep seeded resentment in young men and boys which will manifest as misogyny thus making the situation worse.
But of course this is just from my perspecive and is in no way designed to offend.
Thank you very much for this video Sydney. It's incredibly refreshing to see a woman talking about these issues and in such an intelligent, informed and empathetic manner toward both sexes.
Your videos are great, keep up the good work! 👍🏻

    Some facts in Australia:
Physical Assault is reportedly equal between male victims and female victims. (It's like 52% female, 48% male when I last checked. But then, the population was also 51% female.)
Physical assault against males is 80% from a stranger
Physical assault against women is 80% by someone they know
(And more than 50% of those victims are repeated offenses.)
So more MEN get assaulted walking around on the streets late at night than women do.
These are the reported assaults, with males 99% as the perpetrators. When females get physical it rarely gets reported. (Because the threat of harm comes from the more physical strong people).
Females FEEL less safe because they FEEL things more than males do. So when they are unsafe they feel it more. They also feel unsafe even when they are not.
Men feel unsafe when they are genuinely unsafe.
An example of what I'm trying to say.
A person is walking home late at night (say, 2am). There are no other people walking around.
A male does not feel unsafe. A woman feels unsafe.
The person sees a group of young males on the other side of the street.
A male is cautious. A woman feels unsafe.
The group cross the street straight toward the person.
A male feels unsafe. A woman feels unsafe.
    The group passes by harmlessly.
A male is cautious. A woman is panicked.
So the way to fix this is education. It is not curfew. However, when you try to educate a woman about personal safety, she insists we are victim blaming, and should be teaching those young males not to sexually assault women - a thing they have never done in their life.

In the early 90s, the crew of my ship was given "sensitivity training" (I was active Navy) because of an incident that happened in Las Vegas. We were shown a series of short videos that presented various situations where male crewmembers were predators or would-be predators and female crewmembers were helpless victims.
At the end of the presentation, the presenter solicited questions, and I raised my hand. I proceeded to inform the presenter that I could condense her entire 90-minute presentation down to three sentences. When asked to proceed, I listed the following:
    1. All men are sexual predators, and any who claim otherwise are either liars or somehow haven't yet had the opportunity.
    2. All women are victims, and any who claim otherwise either haven't been assaulted YET, or have blocked out the memory of their assault as a self-defense mechanism.
After a moment of silence, the presenter asked me what the third sentence was.
I responded "please sign the attendance sheet of your way out."
After about four years of this annual training, someone got the message (kind of) and switched out one of the videos to a situation where the female was STILL the victim, but now with a female aggressor. This, then sent the message that all men were STILL predators, but now women had to worry about assault from other women, s well.

I agree. I watch how women act and point it out that women sexual harass men all the time and nothing is done about it. I try to turn it around on them and say if that guy did that to a woman it would be an outrage. It's laugh at like it's an impossible. That thing they did at that school, where all the boys were demanded to apologize to the girls for all the men... sounds like the definition of a hate crime, perpetrated by the school against the boys.
EDIT: As mentioned in a comment bellow, the actual definition of "crime" may not really fit my comment above. My use of the word was, specifically in conjunction with the word "hate", as in "hate crime" in accordance with what I perceive is the (somewhat) recent use of this term by people using it to classify the actions (or speech? thoughts?...) of others.
In other words, I think the recent common use of the term "hate crime" is a misuse of both words. But according to what I perceive is meant by people misusing the term, what was done in that school fits what the people misusing this term seemingly describe as hate crime.

Dating as a man has shown me that women have this "Guilty before proven innocent" approach to dating that is a consequence of the man hating and fearing. I approached this girl and asked her out before, of course in person, but after exchanging numbers it was a game of needing to seem perfect over text conversations for about 3 weeks, i couldnt be too forward without getting shot down so everything had to be a suggestion until she deemed it safe enough to have an actual date, she had to be reassured at all times everything was her choice and within her control, i felt annoyed just about every time there was no progress... just talking. It was very insulting and that's what's been happening in society. We're painted as this potential villain. Dating right now is like both parties consenting to step through a door together and see where it goes, the woman steps through the door first, then the man steps in just to find it's a control vestibule so the woman can gawk and stare at him through a see-through mirror while hovering her hand over 2 buttons, yes or no. That's not even mentioning how a wealthy, super attractive man makes it really easy to hit that yes button without further consideration.

These laws are so stupid because they assume the premise of law-abiding criminals. LAW-ABIDING CRIMINALS. Ah yes, the crooked men who want to go and r*pe women are totally going to obey that curfew law. It's like "hey, I want to break the law and go violate a bunch of women, but...OH NO, it's after curfew, I can't go out or else I'll be breaking the law!" What criminal is going to care about obeying the law like that, they're a CRIMINAL for a reason. All this would do is perhaps ENCOURAGE more of this kind of violence, as the actual r*pists won't give a crap out the curfew law, and will see this as an opportunity because "Great! There's a bunch of women out on the street and not a single strong man to keep anyone safe because they're not allowed to be outside! I can go r*pe whomever I want and no one will be there to stop me!" I know it's sexist nowadays for me to talk about "protective men" but sorry, that's just biology, whether by design or by evolution, either way it's the same: men are on average stronger than women because of the way they're built, and actual decent law-abiding men with a clear head on their shoulders and proper moral standards will act as protectors. A r*pist will be more likely to be deterred if there's several other men out on the street as well, but if it's only women and not a man in sight, who's gonna stop the r*pist? No one. He's just surrounded by potential targets and few adversaries.
Gun control laws assume a similar premise of law-abiding criminals, but that's another issue and at least in those cases the criminal still has to find gun smugglers to trade with so there's some difficulty, but in this case the r*pist already has a p*nis and doesn't need to smuggle a p*nis from another country or whatever, so it's more stupid than gun control laws because there's actually nothing stopping the criminal.

They don’t realise that when they don’t clarify the amount of people they’re talking about when they refer to a group (I.E, saying “children do this...” instead of “some children do this...”) that automatically means they are talking about everyone in the group. All they have to do is adjust their wording slightly by adding a “some” in front of their sentences, and no one would mind. Instead they decide to make generalisations and act offended when men speak out against them. I could only imagine their reaction if I said something like “women are dirty, lying whores” and then defended myself by saying “yeah, but I didn’t say ALL women :)”. They would change their stance so quick.

The problem with many people who understand this fact about that kind of people is that they get motivated by stupidity then they remember this and get satisfied and adjust. What about that?
These people can't agree with Dr. Chomsky now, but they are involved in political decision-making. What about that?
Are you still having the same sense of security that you were having some time ago? Are you still having the sense of factual superiority over these people when actually they decide what is good and bad for you, what is right and what is wrong for you?

When I was told there was no evidence of my own abuse, that I was too successful to make a court case, and that what happened to me "wasn't all that bad", or to have run ins with feminists lecturing me about my "male privilege", it's bloody difficult, indeed I'll say directly "triggering" (a word I do not use lightly), to have to listen to a lot of self-obsess, sociopathic women; remarkably similar to the girls involved in my abuse, talk about how victimised they are.
Obviously, this is not all female victims, indeed it's especially good to hear women call out other women, but I'll admit it's not always easy to deal with.
so thanks again, for the sense, and the validation.

I remember this time when i (a female) and my older brother were watching the news and we heard about how a woman got beaten by multiple men. i was sad, of course, but my brother was horrified and i recall him saying he wished he could have been there to protect her. few men (and women) are bad, but there are WAY more good men in the world

i also obviously believe it is way more common for women to have this happen unfortunatly and its one reason i was taught to do the whole walk her home thing especialy at clubs when i was younger. because honestly who wants a freind to be raped nobody wants anyone they care about to suffer.

It was never one on one it was always one on seven. And so I learned how to fight one on seven. I didn't train hard because I wanted to I trained hard because I had a reason to. But I didn't grow to become a racist I don't blame every black person I meet for the black people that jumped me. I just blame the people who jumped me.

  • @MikeTXBC
    @MikeTXBC Год назад +4

Something these lunatics don't understand is that if you constantly blame people for the actions of others (past, present, and probably future too) you'll end up creating the very monster you claim you want to prevent. All this is doing is creating massive resent among males (especially younger males) because they're told they're awful people with no redeeming value who deserve nothing, yet are somehow still oppressing women. At some point, these guys will say "screw it" and act out because they're already being blamed for actions they haven't taken, so they might as well be blamed for something they did do.
The above has been psychologically proven over and over in studies and in the real world. Blaming people for the actions of others based upon race, religion, sex, or anything similar doesn't solve the problem, it makes the problem worse in the long run. But maybe that's the goal. After all, the feminists who rant and rave about how awful men are need men to be awful or they might be out of a job. So by creating something to fight against while pretending to "solve" the problem, they not only remain employed, but they're hailed as heroes by other women who're as misguided as they are.
Then again, maybe I'm giving them too much credit and they're just psychopaths.

I'm so sorry. This shouldn't haooen to anyone, ppeeiod. Abise is abuse, I used ro have to teaxh about domestic violence for orientation classes. I saod ot was often the people wwho were admitting someone to thebhospital or the ER wjo saw the sifns first. I always taught that men xould also be abused but they rarely said so for fear of being laughed at or axxused of being the "real'l" abuser, or of nmbeing weak. S8nce men canneasily overlower most women, the faslct they are abusee & don't abuse back is a tremendous tribute to their strength of character. Men deserve helpe in abusive situations just as women & children do. People are so much more violent in general than when I was a kid in the 50s & 60s. I know a lot of women, mostly (but not exclusively) were abused in secret...for men in that era it would have gone triple. I grew up in a rpugh area woth girl and boy gangs & organized crime that was an open secret (and tied deeply to the Democrat machine politics). I was confro ted once by a girl gang when I went to use the bathroom...told I had to smoke a joint before I could leave. I ruffled the feathers of the leader & laid down the law - nobody ordered me around, period. I lowered her to the ground & straightened out her clothes & went into a stall. Came out, everyone is waitong for me, it hits me I am now the gang leader. I won the fight, aich as it was. So I disbanded the gang, changed it to a atudy group, promised help if O could render it, & told them to stop using boize, drigs, and nicotine completely & their minds would be clear enough to understand. And I left. Yes, I dod tell the teacher what had happened & what I had done. He had to pick his jaw up off the floor. I had to remind him I had to get to the next class, so he wrote me a note.
So yeah, rough area. My MGM was quite a character & didn't take any guff off anyone. She taught me well. She also taught me men could be & were abused by women. She was ahead of her time. Anyway, i got too sick to keep working in 2008, but if thentopic comes up, I try to affirm that it does happen, & the men to whom it happens are some of the bravest in our societies, not the weakest.
