the crank that the Prisoner used to turn off the Eye probe damper, and that the screen on the table is showing us that it doesn't work anymore! They burned it so nobody else could use it and release the Eye's signal! God, paired with the bars locking the owlks in place on their simulation sleeping boards, their tale just keeps getting more and more tragic, dark, and dystopian.
I love how even years later and even after watching multiple playthroughs from different people, I'm only just now recognizing the significance of this room. It's a true credit to this game that I can keep learning new things with every watch. So impressive.

man I read this comment right at the start of the video and I was wondering what you were talking about, but then when the part with the prisoner came up I was kind of just like "huh? Wait where's the vessel? Huh?? Where's the comet??" And thats when I realized and thats also when I suddenly became very sad
so yeah he lost his old save file- and after the end of the video here he supposedly went and watched the true ending of Echoes thankfully, it just isn't here sadly
There's something beautiful about telling his son "you don't need to be afraid" at the end. That's literally the message of the DLC
my first time in the owldream, i was like... "these look scary but they also look so sad. i am going to hug the owlk."
and then i did. i was veeery briefly spooked but not, like, scared, and then... i saw the animation. Oh, they won my heart immediately. Poor things just want to be left alone. I can relate!
though i also didn't get the ooch owch my bones achievement until *after* finishing the dlc... that, uh, that was pretty metal. tbh ngl i still relate though only to a point lmao

1:17:54 the very rare retelling of history from a Hearthian to an Owldeer who learned *absolutely nothing* of the Nomai.
This ancient race called the Nomai showed up in our system for *absolutely no reason*. They made buildings for awhile and did crazy stuff when they just all died from *absolutely no reason*
We do know the star symbol means Eye of the Universe though.

I had this moment when I wasn't even playing the game. I was taking a break to eat dinner, and I only had the last lock left to unlock. When I was eating, I was thinking over what things I had learned that I hadn't used yet, and it finally clicked.

It seems he waited a very long time to play the dlc, and then played on a fresh save and didn’t even do a quick skim over the story…
Well the main game came out in 2019 and the dlc 3 years later
Also for a while the dlc would corrupt your save games but I think they fixed it now so you had to use a new safe
Idk why people who watched the video didn't see it say "note: lasted played the game three years ago", literally part of the video 😞😞
ikr like there's forgetting a couple things and there's forgetting the entire game like you'd think the *eye of the universe* might stick with you a little

whys he playing the dlc before the rest of the game? i mean, to each their own, but at least learn what the 'eye' even is.. the amount of trouble he was having, like even basic self awareness such as putting on a suit (thats the first thing you see everytime you enter the ship.. dude, when do astronauts put on their suits? on earth, or in orbit? 🤦) .. anyways, makes me think he should have saved the dlc for right before the ending..
he had completed the base game over 3 years earlier, i don't really blame him lol
