Morning brownie, been waiting for this one...also i think your main issue, at least in track running is lack of a trans brake... can't get the revs up enough to build boost without losing traction.
Hey Kaiden. Revs are as far up as they'll go without a higher stall converter and no tyre spin loading it up in the right conditions. Trans brake would be sweet though and will be a benefit in future no doubt, keeping an eye on one being developed right now!
Mate - Well done!! Although you didn't get that 13, its still a great time first time out with the new set up and most importantly you and Mrs Browney had a ball & you drove it home in one piece! Reckon those tall diff gears and stock stall are holding this back a little bit too - and as a few have said already maybe the fuel delivery needs a boost to keep those AFRs in check. You're right, was a great day out anyway and those diff gears/stock stall hurt the times. Car was great for driving to the pub after and then home though! Wish I'd had an eye on those AFR's on the day, live and learn. First 3 runs were around 13:1's, next 3 (what I had of last run included) were much better at around high 11's - good but bloody frustrating when things aren't consistent. Early stages of a fix for this but looks to have been something really small and out of my control largely... fingers crossed! But the XW would sound and look soooo good doing it! Hopefully the weather improves and you'll have more excuses to get it out for a good run soon. And thanks for watching mate 👍
Definitely go back and try again, if you can get it all coordinated I reckon you'll get your time, it would be great to know how much it set you back, good runs, bit more practice never have to much practice 🤣😂 almost as much fun as a real pull, thanks for filming it, all the best to yous and your loved ones

I think that four speed is letting you down and maybe a higher stall converter. Awesome to still see you go and have fun. Keen to see what happens in future
So close. If you haven't got a scanner I recommend the OBD2 Australia scanners I use the obd2-usb scanner it connects to a laptop and gives more scanning options than there Bluetooth scanner .
Fuel tank under 1/2 Valve springs should handle about 15psi if you have a decent exhaust, on a stock exhaust system they don't like much over 10. Increase the trans line pressure will firm the shift and help. My stock 04 auto turbo ran a 13.99 @ 101mph With 257rwkw it ran 12.97@108mph To go faster than that it needed decent rubber and more power. With 370rwkw on drag radials it ran 11.95@120mph
Ah so close Browney!! She's for sure got 13s in her as is! You should be stoked with how far you've come with the car and the channel! Congrats on 15k! But c'mon, lets be honest here, yes you could could relocate the battery for a turbo side intake, yes you could get a bigger intercooler and get rid of that bottleneck heat soaking cross over, yeah you could throw oil pump gears, head studs and valve springs in her with a boost controller. But at the end of the day a manual conversion is the only logical option here to drop heaps of time Its super easy ;) ;)
Thanks mate, very happy and proud of what we've done so far. ... I could also do a manual conversion and have the nut behind the wheel add time back on though! 😂 Honestly think the BTR is here to stay now, even with some beefing up at some stage maybe. Makes me a lot less concerned to put someone else behind the wheel for a go that way and I'd like to do a bit of that now, let a few mates/family share it. So yeah, a lot of the 'could do's' you listed may come in the future!
*Mr Broccoli 🥦...a ZF 6 Speed auto in Brownies green machine and she would be running 13.O all day long. The only other option would be to run 4.11s diff gears which suit the BTR 4 Speed auto so much better and still only revs at about 26OOrpm at 110kms. Higher revs doesn't always mean you use more fuel.*
A lower ratio diff will get your 60 ft times down, I suspect your oil temp might have caused the shut down maybe time for an oil cooler. Love your work mate.
You hit 15k because you do good sharing of info and clear commentary. AND because of that falcon first gear. So many of us own one. ..and find this gear an issue..great engine..but box makes car feel so slow under 70 or so.. So we wonder "how can I unlock some of the potential"..and we found you. I personally find sliding it to the left and changing gear myself to give me better throttle response these days, even on highway . Caus it's overall helping with fuel consumption..a tiny bit.. And being in the city all the hatchbacks tailgate me off the mark at the lights... The control of the gears tends to a little less doughy (it seems) for me. But Ive rarely given it everything although to give her occasional upping..rarely give it ALL.(she's nearly over 400 000 now, and alot of stuff needing to be replaced soon.) So maybe under drag circumstances the shifting makes no difference to 'D' mode. That's right about what you wanted, so I see this as hitting the goal..that's a TINY margin off the 13 bracket..not exactly a joke of a slow car and alot quicker than she was with fully stock everything. Thank you again for the information and entertainment. All the best Brownie + congrats.

...... Well done Mate, I was wondering what the programmed conditions were for engine light AND shut down. I don't believe there is a engine shut down condition at all, (too dangerous, e.g. intersection). I think the cause of the 'Check engine light' corresponded to the stall. Computer diagnostics from mid-2000's (first AU OBD2 don't forget) were not that sophisticated I assume. Still, be interesting to see a list of 'Check engine' fault conditions. I hate not knowing. These things don't fix themselves.

So you have to call that a win! You so damn close to that time though. That has to be a great feeling. I'm looking forward to what you have planned for this car now. I was only wondering the other day what are you going to do. Don't worry, I don't think about you that often that I need help, yet. If I get a tattoo then I'll need some professional help! Until then I'll settle for getting some merch :D Bring on the next episode!
Yep I made the rules/goals, so I can change them and call it a win right? I think so. Batting a few plans around in my head for the next stage already, high stall, more power, tidy the bay up a bit etc. Not set on anything just yet and it starts to get to danger territory for a few components so hoping to enjoy it as is for a little and share it around so a few others can experience what we've done too. Plus, itching to get the EB/ED project going now! Glad to hear you thinking of me... I think! Maybe hold off on the tattoo, I can't promise I won't find a way for you to regret it and need some sort of dodgy cover up!
Hay mate well done with the build , with your car cutting out it could be the Throttle positioning sensor only because i had the same thing happen to me, started off every now and then and got more more frequent hope this helps with your problem as it may give you a place to look…
Finn thank you - why didn't I think of that sooner!? 2 second scan showed no stored codes so good sign at least, will dig through modules another day. Check engine light may have only come on once engine stalled and I was coasting, as it would normally with key in on position and engine off, so it may remain a mystery for now.
Use the hand brake rather than the foot brake on the line… then use it as a faux trans-brake on the last amber light… used to work wonders for me for the 0-60ft
My ford does the same thing when I get a bit spirited with it sometimes not all the time but still don't know why it does it nothing wrong with it just rest it with the key and start it like normal.
Pull some weight out starting with the spare if traction is no problem. Also remove the front sway bar. Both easy jobs and should about get you the magic number required. One other thing, what tyre pressure you runnin Browneye? :)
What about the difference in the compression in the NA Barra. Does the turbo cause issues running it on the 10.2 NA motor? I’ve just recently blew up my BF turbo motor, and put a NA with all my stuff off the old turbo motor, including the original harness. but haven’t pushed it into boost yet. FYI it was watching your channel that inspired me to do it, and I got a NA motor for under a grand instead of spending 10k+ for another turbo motor.
I'd like to see live data regarding timing throughout the run , also the gearing is doing you no favours , I really believe it's capable of a 13.3 at 108
I feel like the slow take off in the ba is alot slower then the bf The btr isn't the best heat wise All mine have seem to overheat and loose 4th after a while And that n/a everything No disrespect but im very surprised that stock n/a btr is holding up with that turbo kit 😬 Maybe next car bf or fg 🤔 Get that quicker 1.5second take off with a factory turbo kit 🤷♂️ Same car with 2 extra gears and 1.5 to 2 seconds quicker with the same things done to this
the BTR equipped cars have a longer gear and a worse dif ratio than the later models, not usually worth swapping unless you go for the 6 speed upgrade to take advantage of the better dif ratio otherwise you are just trading away your top end for bottom end.
@@KaidenOZ thats what I'm meaning by getting a bf brother! Zf 6spd auto as you can't zf swap a ba/xt barra better off buying a n/a bf and installing a factory turbo kit to try reach 11.90 or something closer to 10 rather than 13 🤷♂️
All good, thanks mate. Car is here to stay though, especially when we're only a stall converter, diff gears or both away from big improvements again on the times. Plus, I'd much rather the price of replacement/built BTR compared to same for a ZF!
Yep, only saw this when editing the video. On further review the first 3 passes were similar. Helmet camera was turned back on for very start of last pass (then died again), this and runs 4 & 5 were much better. May have to look into this further.
Hey man that engine light and the car shutting off is the car going into limp mode cause of your trans gear box will soon be on its way out I’ve had this happened multiple times as my na falc makes 215kw on e85 it’s good you stopped cause it’s the car telling you she’s done for the day
Good eye, I noticed that when editing too! Think it was only that run, I know later runs were much richer so NFI what was going on in that one. Thanks for the heads up though mate, if I hadn't had to play it back far too many times while editing I may not have noticed 👍
On further review the first 3 passes were similar. Helmet camera was turned back on for very start of last pass (then died again) and showed it to be much richer at the start of the run like 4 & 5. Still something to do some thinking on.
@@BrowneysGarage yea, you might be on the right track with the fuel pump starvation at the end of the run , possibly the pump cannot maintain the fuel pressure hence the afrs also going lean, i assume it was fine when it was tuned .. might be something to consider

Turn up your grub screw on your gearbox so it changes more aggressive and holds the gears longer... 1/4 of a turn should increase it. Open your exhaust if you haven't. There's usually 1 fake pipe that is blocked off, you can see it by the different colouring on each pipe if you have a dual exhaust. Cut it open , bash through the closed piece with a bar and hammer, dremel out the rest if need be, and weld it back together. That'll get you a quicker time without any crazy mods.
Hey mate, my 05 ba xr6t has a few small mods and the btr. Its pushing 10 psi as well. Whenever the tank is lower than 2/3 full it does exactly that too.
@@BrowneysGarage oh sorry I meant 1/3 full haha. My bad. It did it before and after changing the fuel pump as well. I just thought it must be a setting in the ecu but now I’m thinking it’s actually starving for fuel and the ecu picks up on that and cuts timing. Not sure. I’m no tuner.
Makes sense, I’ve heard of it as full as over half a tank. Is second hand though, not personal. If you haven’t already change the fuel filter, I did again earlier this week and that alone looked to be a factor in some poor AFR’s. More testing to come
@@BrowneysGarage looking forward to it champ. Cars only done 115000 kms. I changed the pump and filter around 100000 amongst other serviceable things just for a freshen up but still did it.
Good job mate unreal. Time to do my NA turbo. 👍
It’s worth the work mate, good luck 👍
Great work good to see your having fun.... Keep up the good work. Yes take the green machine out again to Heathcote.
Keep up the good work on the videos mate, nice viewing.
Wow thanks very much mate, huge praise from a channel whose been doing it so well for so long! Cheers
Definitely go back and try again, if you can get it all coordinated I reckon you'll get your time, it would be great to know how much it set you back, good runs, bit more practice never have to much practice 🤣😂 almost as much fun as a real pull, thanks for filming it, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Bloody well done brown man. Love ya work. E85 will be your friend going forward
Well done mate, what an awesome result for a 'Budget Build'!!!
Maybe a manual conversion would see you with better 60ft times alleviating that tall 1st gear in the BTR or maybe you're just happy with a cruiser with those awesome turbo noises??👌😎
Oh man that was a lunch time turd away from getting into the 13's. Well done, this has been great build to watch. Really enjoy the channel and congratulations on the 15k.
Or maybe even if I hadn't had that hotdog and chips for lunch! 🤣 Ah well. Thanks mate
I don't see any failing awsome job and also got close to the time u wanted and best bit u drove home up the migthy b series
Thanks Brock, that last part is important - it meant we could stop at the pub for dinner on the way home 🤣
@@BrowneysGarage b series cruise and turbo sounds pub feed and good day out with misses can't think of anything better i think im enjoying this build as much as you and i only get to watch it through my phone lol
Good work, and your lucky to have Mrs Browney.
Very much so, if you find someone who supports and encourages you you hold on to them 👍. Thanks mate
I think that four speed is letting you down and maybe a higher stall converter. Awesome to still see you go and have fun. Keen to see what happens in future
Well done mate you should be very happy and can't wait see what U do next deffo think maybe chase abit more power then go back
Love your work Browney, really enjoying following this build - full credit to you, you should be proud. 👍
Very good attempt 👏 I was hopeful of a 13.90
A transmission tourqe remap would be a good try to lower et
So close.
If you haven't got a scanner I recommend the OBD2 Australia scanners I use the obd2-usb scanner it connects to a laptop and gives more scanning options than there Bluetooth scanner .
Got an Autel scanner there. Have now had a 2 second look and no stored codes, will go through it more thoroughly one day. Thanks mate 👍
Fuel tank under 1/2
Valve springs should handle about 15psi if you have a decent exhaust, on a stock exhaust system they don't like much over 10.
Increase the trans line pressure will firm the shift and help.
My stock 04 auto turbo ran a 13.99 @ 101mph
With 257rwkw it ran 12.97@108mph
To go faster than that it needed decent rubber and more power.
With 370rwkw on drag radials it ran 11.95@120mph
Awesome video, I reckon if you undo airbox from intake pipe for a run, (bypass air filter) you'll crack the 13seconds.
I reckon if I hadn't of had the hotdog and chips at lunch I would have got there! 🤣 That could do it too though.
10:19 GOLD hahaha
Unlucky bro…
Keep doing what you do.. you’ll get it
A lower ratio diff will get your 60 ft times down, I suspect your oil temp might have caused the shut down maybe time for an oil cooler.
But Ive rarely given it everything although to give her occasional upping..rarely give it ALL.(she's nearly over 400 000 now, and alot of stuff needing to be replaced soon.)
So maybe under drag circumstances the shifting makes no difference to 'D' mode.
That's right about what you wanted, so I see this as hitting the goal..that's a TINY margin off the 13 bracket..not exactly a joke of a slow car and alot quicker than she was with fully stock everything.
Thank you again for the information and entertainment.
All the best Brownie + congrats.
Great effort brownie! Loving the content mate
Good work mate even throw a few litres of e85 in your tank lowers the knock
Good on you brownie it was a blast seeing you there!!- Fairmont kid lol
Fairmont kid 🤣 - sorry I'm a jerk and never got your name, was hoping you'd pop up in here. Great to have a chat and see the Fairmont out there. What did your best run for the day end up being?
Oh and have just uploaded an unedited run that Mrs Browney got for you. Is unlisted so can only see it if you have the link.
Might not even interest you but it was there, I'll leave it up for a bit then take it down just to keep things tidy on this end. Feel free to rip it from RUclips or do with it whatever you like!

@@BrowneysGarage thanks a lot mate really appreciate that you’re a top bloke don’t worry about it haha, it ran 14.7 just 2.5 catback. Sad you can’t hear the v8 cause of that Barra xd, should have pulled the pipes off from extractors! Thanks again though I’ll definitely save the vid for sure 👍
@@BrowneysGarage oh and the name is Zack hahaha
@Z Walk Haha thanks mate. Damn good time for what it is, got to be happy with that. And yep definitely should have, not just you though I don't think I heard my car once all day! Good luck with it mate and hopefully catch you again some time 👍
Really happy for you mate! Next time you’re at Heathcote I must must stop by with the NA Barra swap XD wagon and have a yarn, (I’m based in Bendigo). And congrats again on 15k! Extremely well deserved! 💪💪
Well done mate, that was an awesome result 👍🏼
Thanks mate, not bad for what it is 👍
14s not bad! Well done on having a crack. 👍
yea good on ya browney love ya work mate
Well done, sooo close!
I think go in for a retune then take it out again because if say again it pulls a flat 14 youl just be annoyed
Iron out the bugs, retune and take it down the strip
Keen to see the next video
Love what ya do mate. Great vids!
Legend! Thanks very much mate.
I've been looking forward to this episode! You may not have got your target time but you did improve a lot for the amount of money and time put in. You clearly enjoyed yourself.
Until then I'll settle for getting some merch :D
Bring on the next episode!
Thanks very much for sharing mate. Definitely gives me something to keep an eye on or check, not too worried just yet.
Well done Browney, Top work
Well done mate, always look forward to seeing ur content keep up the good work.
Great stuff my friend
Might be worth investing in a cheap code reader, that check engine light should be stored in logged codes! Great video brownie
Congratulations on 15k subs mate! Love the series so far
My ford does the same thing when I get a bit spirited with it sometimes not all the time but still don't know why it does it nothing wrong with it just rest it with the key and start it like normal.
Your doing better than me. Turbo kit finally fitted, tuned and trans lasted approx 50KM before hating life.🤦♂
Oof sorry to hear mate. Hope mine can hand in a bit longer yet!
@@BrowneysGarage zf6 is not cheap to fix but oh well
So sick! Congrats on 15k subscribers man
DIY ZF swap?!?!
Great vid
What fuel are you running again? Ethanol? On warm days with repeated running ethanol can vaporise and take prime away from the fuel pump
Pull some weight out starting with the spare if traction is no problem. Also remove the front sway bar. Both easy jobs and should about get you the magic number required. One other thing, what tyre pressure you runnin Browneye? :)
Great video mate. You will get 13s soon i am sure.
I'd like to see live data regarding timing throughout the run , also the gearing is doing you no favours , I really believe it's capable of a 13.3 at 108
Keen find out the cost the build keep up the good work
Thanks mate, I got you -

Hey browney, did you have to upgrade your valve springs when you did this conversion?
15,001 subscribers now😁
Onya Browney!
Pretty stiff head wind by the look of the flag Browney. Headwind is a bitch! Thanks for the videos!
Set of diff gears it’ll go 13s
Where is my present Browney… as I guessed the time 👌in your previous video.
You were nearly bang on, got beaten out by a 14.015 guess.
I feel like the slow take off in the ba is alot slower then the bf
The btr isn't the best heat wise
All mine have seem to overheat and loose 4th after a while
And that n/a everything
No disrespect but im very surprised that stock n/a btr is holding up with that turbo kit
😬
Maybe next car bf or fg 🤔
Get that quicker 1.5second take off with a factory turbo kit 🤷♂️
Same car with 2 extra gears and 1.5 to 2 seconds quicker with the same things done to this
the BTR equipped cars have a longer gear and a worse dif ratio than the later models, not usually worth swapping unless you go for the 6 speed upgrade to take advantage of the better dif ratio otherwise you are just trading away your top end for bottom end.
@@KaidenOZ thats what I'm meaning by getting a bf brother!
Zf 6spd auto as you can't zf swap a ba/xt barra better off buying a n/a bf and installing a factory turbo kit to try reach 11.90 or something closer to 10 rather than 13 🤷♂️
Not all BF falcons came with the zf6 my bro
It was an optional extra from the dealership
@@happydaze4213 yeah I have had a "bf" that had a btr
But for example I mean buy a 6speed zf not a 4spd 🤦♂️
Might as well keep this green machine 😂
All good, thanks mate. Car is here to stay though, especially when we're only a stall converter, diff gears or both away from big improvements again on the times.
Plus, I'd much rather the price of replacement/built BTR compared to same for a ZF!
is that AFR gauge on dash correct?
goo job
Put a 12psi spring in it and a retune ,it will be right
Go 3.73 or 4.11 maybe a 3000 stall
Your going to break that motor in no time with those 13.4 AFR at full song. You need to get some more fuel into that tune.
Yep, only saw this when editing the video. On further review the first 3 passes were similar. Helmet camera was turned back on for very start of last pass (then died again), this and runs 4 & 5 were much better. May have to look into this further.
Hey man that engine light and the car shutting off is the car going into limp mode cause of your trans gear box will soon be on its way out I’ve had this happened multiple times as my na falc makes 215kw on e85 it’s good you stopped cause it’s the car telling you she’s done for the day
Nice work mate 👍 fark the naysayers
Always 👍
Man are you watching the afr . Its running pretty lean
who did you send your computer too for the remap?
Maxx Performance, was dyno tuned there after the initial tune to get us around and check all was well.
i would be a little concerned about the afr readings, 13 to 13.5 is too lean for a turbo car at full throttle , they should be around 12 to 12.4
Good eye, I noticed that when editing too!
@@BrowneysGarage yea, you might be on the right track with the fuel pump starvation at the end of the run , possibly the pump cannot maintain the fuel pressure hence the afrs also going lean, i assume it was fine when it was tuned .. might be something to consider
first REAL comment yeh boiiiii nice work mate
Hell yeah, thanks mate 👍
That 1st gear is horrible, But still looked like a great time 🤙
Yep, stock gear/stall converter BTR things! Was a killer day though 👍
Would tiptronic help
No….keep building
Yeah sure it's going to happen sooner or later! 👍

@@robbieaussievic only way a check engine light comes up on ba is throttle body and TPS correlation
It could cause it to stall out ive had it happen n car just runs rough till u restart it
@@stevenbruzz6050 .... Yeah, sounds right. not very sophisticated. Do you think the solinoid or the flap stuck ?
@@robbieaussievic throttle blade could of been sticky.
Shouldn't you be driving through the water and then spinning them up?
Mate you are still sitting on the line with the light green..Time is ticking from there, not when you start moving..
Hi Brownie I think your car is Dog but you seem to be honest bloke trying his best best wishes no offense mate Cheers 👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘
Hey mate, my 05 ba xr6t has a few small mods and the btr. Its pushing 10 psi as well. Whenever the tank is lower than 2/3 full it does exactly that too.
Crazy that such a full tank can still give it issues. Think a larger capacity pod for the fuel pump will be coming shortly to try help.
If you come up with a solution, which is likely a sponge at the fuel pickup or something, I’ll probably copy you. Haha. Cheers.
