I had no problems changing my valve springs,, took a while to remove the engine and strip the head off😁, so i rebuilt the engine as well ( the engine had 550,000 km on it, and the compression was in spec.😶
Thanks for this video Brownie, I've watched a few over the years on how to do it but have added this to my saved list as I've got a memory like a sieve! I've had the springs and tool for years but my back says no way everytime I think I'm "gonna" do it...
You can put a peice of sting in the cylinder that stops the valve falling, or put the braker bar on the harmonic balancer bolt, turn just before the top dead centre aligne the braker bar so as you turn just past top dead and lean against something, frame, alt, etc then when you apply air it will turn onto said place stop rotation, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
I just use an old spark plug nock all the centre out weld a fitting to the top screw the plug back in add air, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
I useualy put the air to the cylinder the get a socket and just tap on the retaining washer it usually brakes the "seal " between the collar and retainer, just a suggestion, 😮 all the best to you and your loved ones
Next up, install a GFB boost controller and get it back to the dyno with some more boost!! Rude not too with those nice new valve springs in 😅 You’ll be surprised how well those little 1R rods can actually hang in there with the right tune.
It's a fiddly job with those collets hey, I will be doing mine with engine out and head off as I plan a reseal and chain replace as well, nice job I bet there was some cursing in there off camera 😎
A little fiddly and there was definitely some cursing, but it's really not too bad. With head off it would probably actually be one of those repetitive jobs that could be enjoyable - at least i hope so for your sake!
Another brilliant video! By far the most informative video on how to carry out this tedious job. Glad I manage to dodge this exercise with my own +T. Factory springs held up surprisingly well. Roughly how much time did it take you to complete this job? As I’ll have a other +T to do soon.
Really hard to judge sorry mate, too much time messing around with cameras and what not and I'm terrible at keeping track of things even if not. I'd hope to do it in well under a full day if I did it again though, all going well.
Top work Browney!!!! Better and more patient man than me with that fiddley shit. A full swear a thon at the end would have been a pisser hope you have a good easter you and the missus 👍🍻
Interested in where you heard to change your VCT cam bolts from? Haven't heard of doing that before and doesn't say anything about it in the factory workshop manual, the bolts are also not readily available online so assume they aren't common to replace them. Reused the originals on mine and have been fine so far
The manual I referred to for torque specs listed them, guy at Ford spare parts that I got them from seemed to think they were as well. I did think it was odd they weren't available online but were plenty on hand at Ford. One of those things, I could still be wrong or it could have never presented an issue to reuse even if they are torque to yield but at least I won't be stressing about them now!
@@BrowneysGarage yeah the torque specs definitely suggest that they are TTY bolts. Only info I could find online for replacements is it seems aftermarket vernier gears use high tensile Hex socket cap bolts, done up to the factory settings. Got me worried now as doing HD timing chain soon, might replace them to be safe now as they've already been reused once 😅
@Scott Mccarthy Part number is in the description if you need it… but at $20 a bolt I probably would have ordered something aftermarket and reusable if I had the time 🤯
@@BrowneysGarage ouch, thanks for the info tho. Good work on the springs, I did my rear ones laying ontop of the motor with a mirror 😂 was a pain in the butt
Money better spent elsewhere unfortunately, especially when you factor in a retune, and there doesn’t seem to be any real advantage in these until you’re pushing a lot more power.
Looks like a cunt of a job I only have a Intech single cam I might just pull the engine out as it’s easier in the xh manual Ute as me leaning over the guards all day my back wouldn’t like it at all I’d be stuck in bed for a week 😂
Well done mate! Good job, but you gave me an anxiety attack 😂 a very suspensed filled vid 🫣 it felt like I was right there with you sweating balls thanks for the vid very instructive keep them coming 👍
Be glad you weren't then, was a touch warm in the shed for a bit so the shirt may have come off for a bit off camera - no one needs to see that! 😂 Thanks as always mate 👍

That's cheating! Easy to go down those rabbit holes 😂
Bloody awesome timing as always Browney!! Literally bought valve springs today for my turbo BA and was about to search some how-to’s
Cheers legend 🤙🏼
Perfect! Hope it all goes well mate, sure it will 👍
Well done mate. Don't be too hard on yourself. With experience these jobs become more effortless.
What a legend showing all the problems and still getting on with it with a positive attitude ... Great work browney 👍👍👍

Been there mate, fortunately my old man back is holding up well at the moment! Hope it’s not too bad mate 👍

Keep the BA content coming mate love the vids. Doesn't matter if it's performance, maintenance or cosmetic. I'll watch them 👍
I need valve step seals done but not confident to do even after seeing this. You do a great job mate.
first few i did with air, last one i did without air...is verry possible and no issue. all future ones i do will be without air, just rotating to tdc
Legend, thanks for sharing mate. I didn't want to tempt fate any more this time by trying it!
@@BrowneysGarage yeah you just need to be extra carefull with the chain, the bottles are the best tho....
Well done Brownie, you've given me confidence to do mine Cheers mate 👍.
If I can I'm sure nearly anyone can! 😂

It's been a while, mate. I hope everything is good.
Nice vid Browney, can we expect to see more vids on your xr6?
Couple more planned at the moment at least 👍
I need another video browny!! Just copped myself a bf xr6t mk2 zf6.. I’m so excited but I’d love to do the car along side yours.
Looking forward to a cam chain video, can't find any detailed videos on this job and i need to do mine
Next up, install a GFB boost controller and get it back to the dyno with some more boost!!
Rude not too with those nice new valve springs in 😅

Very tempting!
i think i will straight to the beers
Not looking forward to having to do that job. Any reason you didn't change the valve seals while the springs were out.
Go you m8,i was thinking of doing my valve springs on my fgx but after seeing this, my valve springs are fine.lol

Still checking for next vid drop 💯🤙
Now you would be able to do the chain when it comes up done a great job mate, 😊
Job well done mate,
Great video again. Love watching your content. Keep it up mate 👍
hey Browney where have you been ? long time no videos ?
All I heard out of that whole video was 'put your finger in it' 😂😂
Time to start the OnlyFans account? 😂
@@BrowneysGarage you don't have one already?? 😅
Billet oil pump gears and backing plate next?
Nah, she’ll be right!
it's auto and doesn't have big cams and not that super powerful, not hating, but oilpump gears would be a lot of work haha
@@tturi2 I'm with you mate, lot of work and likely not needed for this setup.
Thanks for the efforts man... much appreciated
To stop the engine rotating under air pressure could you lock the harmonic balancer Bolt or something similar???

Hey mate, I’m looking to turbo my na xr6 2014 straight gas can you recommend any shop that does it please? Thanks.

Tidy work mate, nicely explained. Did you consider doing the valve stem seals while you had it stripped in that area?
Hay mate where are you its been 7months???
Hi mate, where did you get the Cam bolts from (W708279 S300)
Thanks mate
How did you go with the timing chain tensioner while turning the engine? Did it poped out?
Another great video mate well done
Thanks very much mate 👍
Excellent video. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Well done.

Stock cams are good to 700hp+ lol

Can the head studs be done with the engine still in Brownie or will the head not get past the firewall
