  • The ASUS RT-N66U Dual-band Gigabit Wireless-N router is an N900 router meaning that it offers connection speeds up to 450Mbps on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz band simultaneously for a total of 900Mbps. Integrated into the ASUS RT-N66U is a 4 port Gigabit switch as well as a Gigabit WAN port. ASUS designed the RT-N66U with three removable external antennas so that the best range can be provided and antennas can be changed. There are two USB ports that support 3G/4G modems, printer sharing, and storage devices. The storage devices can be used in connection with the ASUS AIdisk, AIcloud, FTP server, and media server capability. The router is also capable of hosting up to 8 different wireless networks, including 3 guest networks on each wireless band. ASUS has 256MB of RAM installed into the system to prevent bottlenecks, and the latest security features. Including a built in firewall and security encryption up to WPA2-Enterprise.
    Wade from HiTechLegion gives an overview and tutorial on the AiCloud feature for the ASUS RT-N66U Dual-band Router.

    I really liked the look of this because it looked like my router - however mine is the DSL-N55U and exploring the settings I only see the option to share a USB drive through Ai cloud. Does this mean I wont be able to use the mobile app to access files from my network computer rather than a USB drive? In fact the router wont let me proceed because there is no external drive attached.

    I know it has been awhile since you posted this. But if you read this message, would you consider doing Podcast showing how to set up hard drives plugged into the router and be able to view them from computers within your home network. I would appreciate it if you can find the time.

      Hi Richard, it has been a while, However, I believe the drive setup should be covered in the software video. The firmware is also very similar to the AC56U which we have a firmware video for at ASUS ASUSWRT Firmware Overview and Tutorial I will try to do a specific video on the hard drive setup but in the meantime hopefully one of the firmware videos helps.

    Is there a lot of wireless interference around you? Download inSSIDer and run it and see how many wireless networks are running around you on the same channel. The ones the cable company usually give with service tend to be really low end and this would probably help a lot if not eliminate the buffering issue. You have plenty of speed on your connection that buffering should not be an issue.

    Everything works smoothly enabling AICloud 2.0 on my Asus RT68U. However, when trying to access my https:"name".asuscomm.com from a network OUTSIDE my home network it does not connect. I seem to have all necessary settings enabled. AICloud only works from WITHIN home network for me, which frankly defeats the purpose of having my USB storage device plugged into my router.

      Same for me. Can someone help us with this problem?

    • @timothyhdiganjr
      @timothyhdiganjr 2 года назад

      @@Nolra08 yo I ended up fixing this awhile back. Pretty sure I changed AICloud port number from 445 to something in the 2000’s and it started working. I think my ISP was not allowing 445 or something. Sorry for the vague explanation but I’m no expert. Poke around in the ASUS interface and see if you can find what I’m talking about. Worked for me like a charm.
