I like the theory that Sutekh is some kind of reincarnation of an ancient horror, somehow becoming aware of this and unlocking his potential
Maybe it’s like how the Doctor regenerates and “the Devil” is the same entity across time, manifesting as the Beast and Azal and Sutekh

Yeah, that's why I feel like I knew Sutekh first before the Pyramid Of Mars. It was because I read that 10th Doctor comic with his companionz Gabby and Cindy. Also... is it the same story of the TARDIS become Red? And Cindy... umm... multiplying... in a way? I feel like I mixed up the Titan Comics already XD

The show will always do this with expanded media… and to a degree I get it. If it’s important to the episode and the story they want to tell that he hasn’t encounter Sutekh since Pyramids then I understand why that should be the proportion over a comic story most viewers wouldn’t have heard of yet alone read.
But I too am still always a little disappointed when it happens even though I understand why it does.
I’m a “everything counts” type fan so I just have to get creative with the head-canon. Thankfully as it’s a show with Time travel, time wars and gods who “have made a jigsaw of your history” it’s relatively easy.

I Heard that Sutekh was so Powerful That his Entire Race as Powerful as they were Could not Kill Him only Seal him away and I Think the 4th Doctor in Pyramids of Mars said Not Even the Time Lords Could do anything to Sutekh, He Must of Been an Omega Level Threat That Plus His Evolution Thanks to the Doctor Trapping him in the Time Vortex and Sending him 1000 Years Past the 21st Century Made Him More Powerful Still, so after all That When the Doctor Finally Destroys Sutekh all on his Own Makes the Doctor Look Impressive, Most Impressive.

Sutekh has no Jackal form. His animal is a Donkey/anteater/giraffe hybrid and you can sort of see that in the 1975 design. Anubis his son has a Jackal head. And he is the God of the Dead (he helps dead people) not the God of Death.

    • @CulturePhilter

Hmmm I’m sure I’d seen it referred to as a Jackle head in before this season. I know in actual Egyptian myth it’s Anubis with the Jackle Head but that doesn’t mean that Doctor Who lore has to match that exactly.

Do you think the Kotturuh could return? They are cloaked figures, and Ruby's mum is cloaked (albeit in a plain black cloak) and Ruby and the Doctor couldn't see her face. Maybe they can reverse the deal they made with Sutekh. I dunno, I'm speculating wildly here, basically in the void. 😂

    • @CulturePhilter

I can’t see it happening. They are quite an obscure part of the expanded universe lore that only been in that one multi-platform event.

the expanded media will be retconned away like they did with the Toymaker. He's essentially a blank slate, Osirans are just powerful aliens, not gods in the sense of the Toymaker as you said. only the pyramids of mars will remain canon

    • @CulturePhilter
      @CulturePhilter  Месяц назад +3

I mean even that isn’t strictly canon… this ep contradicts things in that as I go into at the end of the video.
The show has no official canon which means whoever the current showrunners are pick and choose what they want to contradict or not even if it’s from the TV show itself. Great thing about a show with time travel is you can always head canon an explaanation if you want to 😄

You say we don't know how Sutekh got attached to the TARDIS, but we do. The fourth doctor brought out "the time control from the TARDIS" and used it to manipulate the time corridor. Whatever Sutekh did to the TARDIS, that is when he did it.

Problem with some of these theories etc is not all Doctor Who fans are interested in comics and Big Finish and see what was shown on TV is canon not the extended universe by other books or media. That's a fact to remember - yes you can slap down the evidence but if that fan has no interest in expanded stories outside of what was shown on TV its has no relavance and what they say is still correct 😂.

If you just mean mentioning the other expanded universe adventures with Sutekh… I wouldn’t call that a theory, just information about what happened in those stories that is there for people to count or not count, whichever is their preference.
