It’s funny, for me, the first thing I ever saw him in was “Fear the Walking Dead,” which has had such up-and-down writing and overall inconsistent quality throughout its run, but it always felt like “that dude,” whose name I admittedly didn’t even know for many seasons, seemed like he was on a different level than everybody else. Like how an elite high school athlete just looks like they’re playing a different game than everybody else, he stole basically every scene he was in, even when often given some pretty mediocre lines to deliver. It’s awesome to see him having come so far to now being introduced by Forest Whitaker and recognized alongside so many legends of the profession.

It means may a thousand thank yous be with you, or thanks. Dia Dhuit is may God be with you, we say that as an hello, we say go raibh mile maith agat as a thank you
I really love it when Oscars does this: 5 previous winners presenting.
This year’s show was great and grand 👍🏻👍🏻
This was the first time in a long time where I watched the Oscars and actually cared about, and recognized a lot of its presenters and nominees. A lot of nostalgic faces.
0:26 Oscar winner Brendan Fraser was part of 1997's George of the Jungle, the Mummy trilogy, 1999's Dudley Do-Right, Monkeybone, Looney Tunes: Back in Action, 2008's Journey to the Center of the Earth, Furry Vengeance, Escape from Planet Earth and the Nut Job. Oscar nominee Jeffrey Wright was behind the voices of Grizzly Judge in the 2014 English dubbed version of Ernest and Celestine, Henry in the Good Dinosaur, McWinkle in Green Eggs and Ham and the Watcher in Marvel's What If?
Thanks Oscars for putting the RUclips clips up so fast!
Paul Giammati in The Holdovers was my pick to win, but my respect goes to Cillian Murphy for his outstanding performance in Oppenheimer.
I would have been so happy to see Giamatti win, but I'm just as happy for Cillian. Both just wonderful, wonderful performances.
i was rooting for Giamatti as well, but seeing Paul's reaction of joy when Cillian won make me ok with his loss. I haven't seen Oppenheimer (yet), but i look forward to it.
@@Dr_BombayIf and when you see it you’ll realize the Oscar went to the right one.
@@gretchennelson7056 perhaps, but if you see The Holdovers you will see that it was a very hard decision.
@@Dr_Bombay If you see Oppenheimer I’ll watch The Holdovers and then we’ll talk again🙃😎
Cillian Murphy did amazing as Oppenheimer; he is now part of the list of Best Actor winners. He is also the 2nd villain from the Nolan’s Batman trilogy to win an Oscar.
Should be 3. Liam Neeson not winning for Schindlers list still baffles me to this day and consider it one of the greatest acting performances of all time
Classy demeanor, classy speech, classy man.
Whenever I feel sad or disappointed in life… I just watch Cillian Murphy win his much deserved Oscar & I feel cheery again. Oppenheimer was an unbelievable performance from him & he’s been dropping brilliant roles for years. Congrats Cillian. Way to make history too 👏
1:03 Nicolas Cage is a legend! Paul Giamatti immediately knew something was up, he was already trying not to laugh. Cage should have busted out "I could eat a peach for hours" to really set the tone XD
Cillian earned it, he truly did phenomenal.
I agree
Paul Giamatti seems to really appreciate those words from Nicolas Cage.
Cillian Deserved this 100%
I come here every month. Because Cillian was splendid in Oppenheimer and instead of lifting himself above others, he was in awe, couldn't believe that he just won the Oscar. Truth be told, we all knew that he was the only option for this years Oscar.
So well deserved! He's always so humble. And this might seem like a small thing, but I think it's lovely he took the time to shake hands with every man on stage.
I do love how genuinely happy and supportive Emily Blunt is of Cillian. She has been like his big sister, stand in wife for some awards shows and PR a for him because he’s so humble. Comhairdeas go leir Cillian 🇮🇪🇮🇪
Do you know what he says at the end? It sounded like it was not English
@@heidiclaire Irish for thank you!!
By order of the peaky fuckin blinders

A different Oscar winner from 5 different decades.
80’s: Kingsley
90’s: Cage
00’s: Whitaker
10’s: McConaughey
20’s: Fraser
Nice to hear him finish in Gaelic … a great personal victory for him, and good to see the Academy get it right again
Such a humble, down-to-earth, amazing, talented actor. Great performance and well deserved! Congratulations Cillian!
To see Brendan Fraser all the way back as a leading man is enough for me in this clip ❤
A leading man? Where? I hope you don't mean that disgusting thing last year. Leading men have leading ladies and Fraser hasn't had one for over a decade (onscreen or off). Paid escorts don't count.
Really nice seeing Colman Domingo get nominated, I feel he'll win one eventually. Outstanding actor.
He's winning next year - Sing Sing.
@@dwilliams02I thought the exactly same thing man.
@@dwilliams02 Yeah Fear wasnt great
04:10 When RDJ himself cheers as you walk to the stage to receive your Oscar...You've made it in life! Thats some moment!
And yet RDJ was a total douche when collecting his trophy
@@peteyd1984that’s just his personality chill 😂
FROM THE SCRIPT TO THE SCREEN TO THE SET TO THE SCENE🗣️🗣️‼️‼️
Congratulations, Cillian Murphy. you are one hell of a winner. ❤
We won’t be seeing another movie of Oppenheimer’s caliber for a long time. Congrats Cillian on such a fabulous performance! 🎉
A phenomenon indeed. Crazy Barbenheimer summer.
I know!! We’re lucky we got live in the same era as Chris Nolan masterful Emma Thomas.
Sir Ben Kingsley’s speech about Cillian Murphy was beautiful 4:20 when Cillian thanks him made me so happy
Finally Cillian Murphy won his first Oscar! Well deseverd!
Best leading actor performance of the year for sure. Defiantly deserved this and every accolade he received for playing J. Robert Oppenheimer.
He deserves this Oscar!
An absolute gem of a man. Brilliant at his craft, humble beyond measure, this man put in the work and he earned that moment. Felt like a proud momma, watching his career flourish over the years, from Disco Pigs and 28 Days Later to now. Absolutely brilliant. Congratulations, Cillian!
I love how they greet him, like "welcome to the club" What a great moment for Cillian!!! I hope they keep bringing past winners to introduce the nominees because it's so classy!
As an Irish American, nothing makes me happier than this classy man accepting this award. 🍀🍀
I certainly agree Murphy earned this honor. I also entirely enjoyed Paul Giamatti performance as well. Murphy however had me believing he really was his character. Congratulations to him.
Good for him! He was brilliant in "Oppenheimer."
I'm glad this channel is actually posting these on the day of the ceremony.
so happy for him! oppenheimer was so brilliant! ✨
I find his acting even better the film itself. But that's my view as a common man. There were too many flashbacks and flashforwards.
We all usually remember Cillian Murphy for Thomas Shelby, but i fell in love for his performances when he masterfully did Dr.Crane/Scarecrow and Robert Fisher in Inception. Cillian is the type of actor like Phillip Seymour Hoffman: The Chameleon, he becomes the paper in screen
Have you ever watched Breakfast on Pluto? That is an incredible performance. The best depiction of a trans women ever done by an actor.
I could watch Cillian accepting this award over and over and over again. He is an actor’s actor. Masterful in the roles he takes on. Humble, authentic and appealing shy as his true self. I knew even before I saw the movie (after I read the book) he would be hard to beat during award’s season. Both he and RDJ. And after seeing the film - in IMAX format of course - I never wavered from my beliefs. The role of his life for sure. But I expect more awesome things from him in the future. He loves his craft like so many of the greats and can take us viewers into worlds we did not know we need to go. Congratulations Cillian. Now go home to your beloved Ireland for a well-deserved rest…but just for a little while! ❤
