If he's glued to his phone 24/7 and refuses to show it to you, chances are he's texting/calling other people. And there is emotional cheating as well as physical cheating. You will hear all kinds of lies all day/night long.
One excuse he gave me to justify his cheating is that people are entitled to their secrets. No apologies.
Compartmentalization is synonymous with NPD
They emotionally cheat on you with friends & family members by excluding you such as texting in front of you during your conversation for immediate gratification/ stimulation or just to get a rise out of you.
Yes, emotional cheating through Betrayal of triangulation and ostracization with everyone from friends & family, co workers, grocery clerks, neighbors, even your family pets. They will check their phone in the middle of a conversation with you, leaving you hanging & ignored without a word, silencing you. Iced out.
Stick it out long enough and they will eventually ostracize you from yourself 🤯
I was 'married' to a Pastor, preacher, teacher who was glued to his phone!! He married a woman from Malawi while we were together, discarded me and went to fetch her and she is now with him. Good luck to her. All I say is Never again!! ( She is now wife number 5)
My husband asked for a divorce, I said sure let's do it! He obviously you didn't expect me to agree to it so easily, he went into a rage. 7 months later, I confronted my narcissistic husband with DNA proof, he was cheating! With multiple people! Plus saw photos, caught him meeting people the list goes on. He wanted to try again to work on the marriage. I finally said no I can't continue to keep doing this! I am done! 15 days later he committed suicide!
After telling me about his double life he had be living all of the marriage! And I have found out what he told me was only the tip of the iceberg!

Unfortunately, my 2 grown sons, are blaming me for my husband's suicide. They have gone know no contact and spreading lies about me. Our family members have voiced to us to get family counseling. But my sons won't even consider family counseling until I take responsibility for my part, in their Dad's suicide. They are hurting like the rest of us. Unfortunately, they are lashing out at me. 💔
My husband left a suicide letter, taking responsibility for as he put it " ruining my life". And asked my sons to help their Mother get through this.
I'm so sorry you had to go through all that. I understand much of your pain. I've seemed to attract narcissists all my life before I understood what they were. I am damaged goods after all I've been through.
My current husband (if you can call him that) took our 2 teenagers and disappeared on Father's Day while I was at work. It will be 2 years this month since I've seen him or my kids. 21 years of marriage and he never liked me, let alone loved me. I knew I couldn't live like that forever, but nothing was even discussed, he blindsided me.
He left me in debt, destitute and unbeknownst to me...hadn't paid the rent on the home I was hoping to eventually buy... and the landlord came, terrorized me and threw me out of the house with nothing but the clothes on my back. I lost everything! Family heirlooms, documents, all the pictures of my kids and every single thing I ever owned in this life! I'm sure my husband knew what was going to happen to me, and he didn't think twice...threw me to the wolves. He rendered me homeless.
To make matters worse, my middle daughter "sided" with him in this catastrophe (and he's not even her dad!!) and she's written me off too. Sadly she's always been a temperamental, vindictive type of girl that thinks that she knows better than everyone else, and I think she twisted the minds of my teen son and daughter. I believe the whole lot of them are narcissistic.
Nevertheless, I grieve the loss of the babies I thought I had. It's beyond me how they turned on their own mother, I guess they don't care what happens to me. My only saving grace is my oldest daughter that's stood by me through this, but I know she's paid a dear price for it, losing all her siblings.
The wound is still as raw as if it happened yesterday. Nothing has gotten better in any way. I'm terribly traumatized. I wouldn't wish this kind of pain on anyone.

Awesome!! I physically caught mine cheating and he denies it no matter what. I finally woke up and working on leaving….working with a local women’s shelter for legal help and how to get out….
Yep same thing happened to me. I caught him and to this day he denies it!! He cheated on me and I caught him and I tried for months to get him out of the house and he wouldn’t leave! I threw fits and changed the locks and I couldn’t get rid of him. It took me almost 10 years after he cheated to get rid of him. He is gone now thanks to my daughter because she finally saw what he was doing to me emotionally, after she turned 21, and she kicked him out. He’s gone but still in denial! He thinks he’s going to get back into my life and there is no way I will ever be with that a**hole again!!!

That's exactly how I felt yet I felt stuck. It took me two and a half years to leave and I so wish I'd gotten out so much sooner. The emotional abuse was absolutely unreal and yes, it gradually turned to physical. He's the most evil, disgusting person I have ever met. I constantly had the feeling that I couldn't trust him and I was right not to; the things that are coming to light since I got away from him .... I'm constantly trying to forgive myself for allowing myself to be in that situation when I KNEW he was not a good man.

My narc dumped me after five years and started living with his new supply instantly and suddenly texted me after five months asking me “to sneak in the house for a quickie cause she is now sleeping upstairs so you can come over quickly ”

My narc father used me (as a child) to cheat with, claiming he was taking me to the park or to get ice cream when he was (in reality) taking me to his mistress. He even tried to bribe me (didn’t work) at various points.
Now he’s old (77) and he EXPECTS me to help him.
at 77 the supply train has dried up and he's not someone anyone wants to be around?

Boy you are speaking my story! Unfortunately, it took me 42 years to finally get away! Right now all I’m doing is crying. But I’m looking forward to the freedom to joy. God has in store for me after being in bondage for so long, narcissist make your head spin. The sad thing is, my son is just like his father. I’m one of the whole reasons I stayed 30 years becasue I wanted my son to have a dad. I suffered as a women with a man that did not know how to love, does not know himself still. He never loved his family. Did not know how to.

Yep I was trauma bonded bad believing that he was going out with someone else when he said that he wasn’t… but then when I actually had proof and then he admitted , my trauma bond disappeared overnight because my mind finally knew that there was going back !!
if you are waiting to find out there is probably a lot of other toxic things he is doing that should prompt you leaving...
My NOW narc ex seemed to be pulling away from me. Constantly on his phone, not engaging in conversation with me,but he weirdly started mentioning his ex on occasion even if it was negative context. He also started listening to country music which was her preference not his. A week after he broke up with me he started dating his ex again. I asked him how long it has been going on when he tried to text me to "explain" himself when he found out I knew about his "new relationship" he told me it didn't happen till after we broke up. I told him he was lying his next comment to me was "welp, it's the truth but BELIEVE WHAT YOU WANT" THAT comment right there was how I knew he was lying.
They use their ex wife or ex husband as a weapon!!! They are truly sick people!
Even with non-narcissists, how can we know if any of our partners are cheating? It's just too easy today.
How does he demonstrate transparency, honesty, and vulnerability?

Thank you. I needed this reminder. The divorce papers were finally signed by the judge end of Dec but my Ex~Husband is starting to come around with the “I miss you’s” and “I made a mistake” again. He turned me into a lonely toon after 17yrs of marriage that I thought was normal of ups and down but love.

Girl took me 42 years! His family sucked me in too. His 92 year old mother actually called me to tell me he loved me🤦🏻♀️she thinks she knows him better than me the person that lived with him for 42 years! I was surrounded by crazy makers.

Yep I kept finding porn on his phone and he would get mad at me for finding it and then blame me and then when he started truck driving, it was easier for him to cheat so he left us for some other women and you know because they completely ghost you after 18 or 17 years, he just ghosted me

Having a beautiful home, clothes, jewels doesn't mean a thing when your heart and soul are being destroyed from deep within. You can lose it all in a minute!!! How? My ex purposely left his phone home to ‘go running’ a few times. How would I have known where he was if he had his phone on him?

Makes their spouse think everything is okay, if they let them access their first phone. Meanwhile, they will be chatting it up on their second phone with the whore.

Yup I’m in trauma bond…found out he cheated stayed now he moved away for work and everything is problem with ph and adjusting to work visits feel all about me til he leaves., tone in his voice is always off barely txts me mostly one 2words. I really need some help and advice I can’t open up to friends or family about this because I sound crazy upon explaining things experienced. At the beginning he wasn’t demonstrating that he valued me and cheated multiple times I finally cut off all contact for about 3 weeks and acted like he didn’t exist. He told me it was the worst 3 weeks of his life. it finally seems now that he’s doing everything to display he truly cares and demonstrates with his words and aligns his action as well. However something still feels off and he tells me I’m overthinking or need to forget the past. It’s been 6 months since I’ve discovered last cheatings. Is it possible he has changed his cheating habits or could it be temporary? I feel confused because even though he’s aligning his action and words at times I feel the emotional disconnect and indifference it’s something I can’t explain. I just can feel something off. Could the problem be something on my end?

Believe me, they find better ways to cheat. When they know you're onto them, they get more creative with how they sneak around AND throw in a little lovebombing with you to make it look like they've changed, but it won't last....it never does. When they think they've got you calmed down, they'll go right back to their old ways. I went through this over and over. I regret second-guessing everything, making excuses, waiting for change and giving a million chances that weren't deserved. I didn't listen to my gut and it was screaming at me. Please listen to yours! Don't let your guard down. If something feels off, it IS!!
