As a lifelong fan I think you did! (although I do think there are a couple bangers on American Grafishy) Steve seemed to genuinely enjoy it. I told him there were 2 Flipper fans & the other guy not so much. He replied “ha ha ha”
Y’all would probably like (especially Robert) the film “Frownland”, which is a movie that quite strangely and successfully captures the essence of the Captain Beefhart song it’s named after. Go in blind! But it’s been described by some as “Eraserhead’s autistic brother”. Amazing movie, wonder what y’all would think of it!
The highlight of the episode is Alex being so irritated by the inclusion of the live albums. I'm still surprised Mike was discovering all these underground bands at the age of 9. When I was 9, I was listening to Limp Bizkit and Korn.
Thanks for doing Flipper, one of my favoritebands! I think i have the same music tastes as Robert! I love this podcast and really enjoy hearing your opinions whether I agree or not. I'm so glad you decided to include the live albums, that made me really happy! Thanks for all you do, I really appreciate it!
Killer band! Are you guys gonna cover Descendents anytime soon? You guys should also check out SNFU, Big Boys and Big Drill Car, all bands I think you guys would really dig!
Cheers lads - enjoy your reviews (similar-ish tastes). Don't know how I got into Flipper way out in NZ way back when. SF underground release I guess. Then I mailed off for their singles... they still make me gushy and wet! By the way, ever checked out the Flying Nun label?
the guy that screams "YOU'RE A FUCKING A-DULT!!" at the end of Ever (Live) on the 'Sex Bomb Baby' comp is actually Flipper's guitarist Ted Falconi lol. apparently some kids were on stage fucking with his gear. i read an interview with Steve DePace the other day where he talks about it, will send it to you guys if you wanna check it out
Best flipper is the Love Canal/Ha ha ha 7”. Wore that single flat when it came out. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Or maybe falling. And arent Flipper just an intro band for people who want to work their way up to the Dead C???
People seem to think I hate this band but I was just riding off the bad vibes of those live albums. I’m like Batman I’ll be whatever they need me to be.

Amazing, thank you so much. I hope we managed to do the band some justice.

That's incredible. Tell the man thank you for his contribution to music.
Love the punk episodes !!
I don't want to say that I enjoy Alex's suffering, but... when I see him this pissed off at the start, I know it's going to be a fun episode.

I'm intrigued.

To be fair, I was also listening to Limp Bizkit and Korn along with them.
I saw flipper a few years ago with David Yow singing! Epic!
Will you do Sonic Youth at some point? One of the greatest discographies ever imo
Without giving too much away for the future, yes we will.

Liking this band is like enjoying going to the dentist. Always dig a Robert episode though!
Nevermind, forget it, you wouldn’t understand anyway.

King for a day does rule.
Hell yeah it does. Never going to let Alex win that one.
Do an episode on Don Caballero. Quintessential math rock
This is long overdue

I love No Trend.

If you like Flipper, you'll love Marketville! Best animated show of all time!
So when are you doing Tom Waits?

Very fun listen. ROIR is pronounced "Roar"
You can def tell Ed Hall was influenced by them
Team Alex! Nightfalls off of Love was cringey AF
