    After this video on Deep Drilling came out the mechanics of the Ground Penetrating Scanner changed. I've created a Guide on the Ground Penetrating Scanner with updated information: ruclips.net/video/HLfwcBN6nm0/видео.html

    I realized I kept calling it a ground-penetrating radar instead of scanner the entire video >.<
    Hope you enjoyed the guide!

    Oh my word... This colony is like something out of my wildest dreams. So many boys, so much spsce, and they all have ARMOR?
    AND TURRETS INSIDE THE HALLS?! Bruh, what is this Utopia?

      Haha ya that was my first playthrough colony! Good memories. The infestation footage was taken form one of the episodes even.

    After countless battles, cold snaps, and mad rampaging animals I finally built the ground penetrating scanner. And it shows me that I only have one site with resources. I only had one mountain from the start of the game. The worst

    • @Kolrolf
      @Kolrolf  4 года назад +4

      Actually, this video shows the old 1.0 mechanics where when you turned on the ground penetrating scanner it shows you everything. Now in 1.1 your colonists need to work at the scanner and every few days or so you'll reveal a new deposit. So there's more on your map, you just need to keep scanning!

      and to make fabrication bench i need advanced component right? im so stuck

    • @Kolrolf
      @Kolrolf  3 года назад +1

      Components you can find mine-able patches of on the surface of your map, even a flat map should have a few here and there. They'll look kind of golden brown in colour and be called 'compacted machinery'. If there aren't any on your map you could make a mining camp one tile away from you colony and find some there. You can also get components from deconstructing ship parts scattered over the map. Traders will often sell components too. There are other ways but those would be your best early game ways of getting components. Deconstructing mechanoids will get you a few too. You can't deep drill for components.
      For advanced components it might be easiest to get lucky with a trader selling them. You could wait for a trader or orbital trader to come by, or travel to a nearby settlement to trade. If you get a defoliator or psychic ship event, deconstructing that ship part will yield an advanced component. Ancient Dangers have a chance of containing advanced components, but that would be really lucky as it's only a small chance. Trading is going to be your most reliable option for getting advanced components.
      Hope this helps!

      @@Kolrolf It works! i did trade with the travelers for component and advance component. but how to make mining camp away from my base? it keeps telling me that i cant make another settlement

    • @Kolrolf
      @Kolrolf  3 года назад +1

      Great to hear you got some! In order to make more settlements you need to go to the options menu. Part way down there's a slider for 'Maximum number of colonies', set it to two and you're good to go.

    • @Kolrolf
      @Kolrolf  4 года назад +11

      That's true, in the 1.1 release the mechanics of the ground-penetrating scanner changed. When I made this video for version 1.0, it showed you everything when you powered it. Now in 1.1 you need to operate the GPS like a worktable and it will discover only a single deposit every once in a while.

    Can the ground penetrating scanner be build indoors like you do, or is the tooltip correct, that states that it doesn't work in a roofed area?

    • @Kolrolf
      @Kolrolf  3 года назад

      After the changes in 1.1 the ground penetrating scanner needs to be in an unroofed area.

    Do you have the random wall placements over powerlines for a reason? I'm a new player and assuming it helps with the spark ups?

    • @Kolrolf
      @Kolrolf  3 года назад +2

      Ya it's so I could place a roof over the power conduits. At the time I thought that power cables needed to be covered to prevent Zzzt events during rain, but that's not necessary. Power conduits in the rain is fine. Batteries on the other hand... not so much.

    What about compacted machinery?

    • @Kolrolf
      @Kolrolf  2 года назад +1

      You can't find compacted machinery through deep drilling, but you can mine steel and use a fabrication bench to turn the steel into components.
