    hey, that is absolutely right and to be honest i didn't have the time to ask for that y-adapter so as a result of my lack of time and reluctancy to tour around the stores I didn't go for that option. it is great that you have specified the brand and model so I can ask for the precise cable now at the dealers. many thanks. :o) cheers

    hey there! many thanks for dropping a line and your nice words as well. I am really glad you liked the video. addictive drums has really nice snare samples and with a bit of balancing it fits perfectly into the overall sound with no hassle. Alesis DM6 is also a fine choice in terms of price/performance as far as I am concerned. many thanks again. cheers.

    Very good drumming. Gives a good idea of the instrument's capabilities. thanks a lot.

    @Hellscream90 hey there. many thanks. i am glad you liked it. if i can remember correctly, this was the sonor designer kit with sonor designer snare and again if i am not mistaken, i have muted the room mics from the room nob all the way in the mixer that's all. i don't recall tweaking this kit any further. so nothing special at all other than no room sound. many thanks for the compliments. cheers!

    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    yes you definitely can. couple of options though but the ideal one could be buying another kick pad and connecting it through the expansion input the back of the original kick pad. i am using that one for an extra cymbal now as i use a twin-pedal. you can also map the hihat controler pedal to be your second kick but then you won't be able to control open and closed.

    hey there! thank you very much for dropping a line. i am glad you liked the video. I cannot remember for sure but as far as I can remember it was around 150 dollars and yep you are definitely right yammies do not ship with mesh snares so this rolan v-pad was bought seperately. :) hope this helps. cheers.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  15 лет назад

    but hey thank you very much for your nice words. i am glad you liked it and even more glad that i inspired you somehow. :) i also can add that i had certain times of this 15 years that i have not touched a drumstick for a long time so it is basically a matter of practice and sustainability. if you ask me i fail greatly in those two as i don't have enough time to spend to drumming. i wish i had more. hopefully that'll change soon. when i was playing regularly(in a band) it was different. cheers.

  • @TolgaPala

    @fastcarguitar hey there. appreciate the comment/question. :) i am using a pearl p-122tw power shifter twin pedal(chain drive) and i totally recommend it in terms of price peformance ratio. it is one sturdy pedal with a lot of response and yet still affordable. i am not sure i understood your second question though. i haven't changed anything related to the kick pad if that's what you've meant. it's the stock one and provides adequate housing for two beaters withoyt any sensitivity issues.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    hey there! thanks i am glad you like it. i actually removed the mount from it's original place and placed it through the vertical part that is basically the right leg of the rack. it is fairly simple but you may need to take a few parts apart. nowadays i am using my cymbal stand for the ride pad and put this one back in its place. and yes it is possible to set cymbal sound from the brain as well without using the midi software. cheers

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    @AlexWhitleyUK hey there! no worries! :) my pleasure. if you mean mountingwise, it surely does not. but for connecting the one that you are left with, as a spare after using the roland pad you can use the additional connector (a second one) behind the kick pad. hope this all makes sense. and many thanks for the comment btw, i am glad you liked my playing. cheers

  • @LoneWolfJoe
    @LoneWolfJoe 13 лет назад

    oh and by the way, your drumming is phenomenal, very groovin and flowing. good stuff!

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  15 лет назад

    hey there! yes indeed the pdx 8 is compatible. the sensitivity was changed to fit my playing dynamics and that sometimes leads to some cross talk from time to time when hitting the pad rather harder than usual. it basically is also due to the structure of the yamaha rack that conducts the vibration to neighbouring pads so it is always nice to finetune the gain and velocity parameters rejection and self reject to the point where it feels ok to play with while eliminating cross-talk.

  • @jimmywacked

    Awesome sound~ and some really smooth playing dude..!!

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @MRmesmetin hey there! thanks for dropping a line here. to be perfectly honest, the second sound you hear comes from the backing track, not from a sequencer. sort of like a shaker sound accompanies the bassline but surely helps you keep up with the tempo of the bassline. cheers

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @aromano many thanks for the comment. it actually required no additional effort or special adapter. it is connected just like the other pads to the brain with a 1/4 jack input. fotunately yamaha dtxplorer brain supports stereo input (only for the snare connection) so i was able to connect the pdx8 and utilize both the rim and the head trigger. you need to tweak around a little though to set up the pad to your playing conveniences, that's it. cheers.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @OrangeCrushUK no worries. addicrtive drums is a drum plug-in that enables users to enhance the sound of their drums triggering (high quality with much better dynamics) samples from their pc or mac. also to record and play in realtime with more realistic drum sounds. and yes you can add 1 more pad using the expansion input at the back of the kick pad but that's all. hope this helps. cheers.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  12 лет назад

    hey there! sorry about the late reply. it is not the stock snare. it is a dual triggger, mesh head roland pdx-8 pad. and yes it is possible to add it to the dtx as you can see it works nicely especially when used not with the stock sounds but with a plugin like addictive drums on your pc.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    @mapexvx1 hey there! thanks, i am glad you like it. i got this backing track and many others from drummerworld forums as far as I can recall. one of the users posted this pack of backing tracks to one of the threads but it has been some time so i don't recall exactly where in the forum section. cheers

    @groghi many thanks. glad you've liked it. i am using a Roland pdx8 10" dual zone mesh v-pad for my snare. cheers.

    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @mcjoz88 many thanks for the compliments. i try to do the best i can to be perfectly honest but i am glad you like it. btw, i have some older videos where i have been using the stock one that is vinyl. cheers and thanks again.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    @Makiller82 you can set whatever sound you would like to trigger on your drum map. it is not unfortunately possible to describe in a few words here but the trick is to set your input note (incoming signal from the drum brain to pc and) to the desired output note value (meaning which corresponding sound the AD plug in would trigger when you hit that pad) appropriately on the drum (midi) mapping. hope that makes sense. cheers.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    hey there. yes it wasn't an ideal mount but it is pretty stable. i used one of my cowbell clamps and tightened it to the point that it chews on the hexagonal bolt of the original yamaha pad/drum mount. and yes, i use the expansion on the back of the kick pad to have three cymbals nowadays. cheers.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    @crankthatapplejuice it is a vst (virtual studio technology) instrument that is making possible to utilize those more realistic drum sounds and dynamics that an electronic drum module simply cannot produce due to performance reasons. those sounds you hear are not coming from the drum itself, but from the pc that addictive drums is running on. drumset is only used to trigger those sounds for real-time recording or playing. hope that helps.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    @TheManfry95 it does and there is absolutely no reason that it shouldn't, to be honest as the operation principle behind a pad, any pad for that matter is pretty much the same. needs some finetuning on the module though with regard to trigger parameters to suit your playing comfort but it definitely works. haven't tried the kick pad but I am sure that may also work with no frustration involved. cheers

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @drytaffin ..... separately, whereas yamaha pads you see in this kit are made of vinyl and are single zone. so i would say yes, both the utilization and feel (in terms of size and rebound) are different from each other. but before buying the roland pad, i was using the standard yamaha pad for the snare for a long time and had no problems with it. cheers.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    @Melker154 the triggers work the way you would want them to, the pads are rugged and they don't easily break if you ask me but that would basically depend on your usage. it is not very comfortable at first as with any other vinyl pad electronic kit and rebound needs a little getting used to but the set is overall very much satisfactory especially if you use software like AD to trigger sounds from.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  15 лет назад

    hey there. thank you for the suggestion as I can try that as soon as I have some time to get to the local dealers. I would also need a separate holder for the spared out tp65 but that is easy to find. many thanks. cheers.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    @althegreat17 hey there! i am not sure i fully understand your question but you do not need any special amps to hear what you are playing. you can plug it into anything like a mixer, adat recorder, guitar amp, hi-fi or the original monitors that is also available in yamaha. cheers

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @filmmakingjoe you are quite right about the module. somehow the pdx-8 generates a cross-stick sound for the rim when you use the built in sounds from the module but it is possible to map it through AD to trigger a rimshot. so it works with plug-ins but could be a pain to set up through the module. cheers.

  • @drytaffin

    I'll buy the DTXplorer soon !

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  15 лет назад

    thanks so much. you can very well go live with those sounds. they are not only intended for recording to begin with. it's totally up to you to be honest it doesn't make a difference whether you use them for recording or go live with them the basic principles stay the same. hope that helps. cheers

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    yes you can. and it isn't too small for two beaters as it is also promoted to have just enough space for two beaters so that you can use a twin pedal. i am using a PEARL P-122TW Power Shifter with no problems.

    2 answers:
    -it wouldn't be accurate to say my system you see in the video has no latency (lag) as it is not possible but it should be a value represented in miliseconds that is within acceptable margins that it is not noticable to human ears in playing and recording. so therefore i should say no, this is in realtime.
    -in terms of technology, roland pad was made with a meash head and has two zones(triggers) for the head and the rim

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  15 лет назад

    it is the cheapest and most entry-level set of yamaha but also a fun and practical tool that you could avoid frustrated neighbors, record and edit drum tracks at home with a pc, practice (not that i suggest it feels like the real thing :)) and just have fun. you can check for pricy ones from yamaha for expansion options or a whole lot more pricy roland models. please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions regarding edrums and edrum related issues. cheers and thanks.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    many thanks for watching. i am glad you like it. yes indeed it is a dual zone (head, rim) pdx8 and works very well with yamaha brain. with DTXpress being a more sophisticated model than my DTXplorer, I am sure you shouldn't have no problems. Besides I suppose DTXpress has 3-zone capability as far as I am concerned so could also be an option to try a 3-zone.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @persini sure does. the kick pad has more than enough area to accomodate two beaters and works perfectly. it is not hard at all to assign (map) other sounds from the computer. may be tricky if you are not familiar with the stuff but there are tons of resources around the net and even in here at youtube. check out some other videos i posted where i talk about drum mapping and all. cheers.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    also it may be helpful to keep in mind that it is a good practice and home use tool but not the real deal so it deserves to be treated as such. i wouldn't expect too much from an edrum set, any edrum set to be perfectly honest. it is a lot of fun. don't look for too much negative or positive sides for it. hope this helps. cheers

  • @TolgaPala

    hey there it is a pdx-8 8 inch pad and it wasn't an ideal mount but it is pretty stable. i used one of my cowbell clamps and tightened it to the point that it chews on the hexagonal bolt of the original yamaha pad/drum mount. hope it helps. cheers.

    you can add one additional pad which i now use for sparing the original ride pad and use that as a second crash and use the extra as a ride. there is an expansion jack at the back of the kick pad, but that's as much as you can get :) hope this helps

    @waxlrose0808 thank you very much. I would definitely recommend this kit as this is just the perfect kit in terms of price range/performance and of course the quality. definitely would stay away from the toy looking kids or as well the very high-end ones as a first timer. this kit was the first and only electronic kit i have ever bought and still using it after almost 5 years after.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    @NathanStockwell1994 not at all. :) it's just a matter of personal preference and not a must to plug in an amplifier. i am triggering sounds from addictive drums and therefore my pc and am using a behringer 12 ch mixer at home so all is connected to an amplifier that powers up the reference monitors but could have connected earphones directly to my soundcard output if that's what you have been asking. and the pad is a dual zone roland pdx-8 v-pad. cheers

    @XChrisxRubiX exactly. i use the midi out from the brain to the midi in on the m-audio fast track pro usb sound interface connected to my computer.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    @XChrisxRubiX hey there! actually the sound only comes from the headphones during recording and the raw video only has the tapping sounds as my camcorder doesn't have a line in and records the room sound through it's microphone. i record my playing and then add the audio that i export from cubase to the video's audio channel, sync the video with the external audio and mute the original audio channel to finalize. hope that makes sense. cheers

    @TolgaPala  15 лет назад

    :) fortunately for us, the technology is not that complex. you can use any manufacturer's pad with any manufacturer's module as long as the connector jack is compatible. which the yammie appears to be supporting stereo connector jack therefore is compatible somehow with a dual trig pad regardless of it being mesh or vinyl. basically the sensors catch the pressure difference (the stroke) and generates the signal pulse and the rest is interpreted by the kit brain.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    yamaha midi out > sound interface(m-audio fast track pro usb in my case) midi in. the m-audio is connected to my computer via usb and i use cubase as my host. so it is basically a midi connection all along.

    @FaithIsAccidental Hey there. Thanks. I am glad to hear that. Well to be honest there are 3 videos I have posted on how to set up AD with your yamaha and some recording basics. then again I am not actually showing how i did the cabling there but there is a section that i talk about the gear i am using and i think i am describing how exactly to get it sorted out if i can recall correctly. hope you would find them useful to against your inquiry. cheers.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  12 лет назад

    @LinkDS hello. many thanks for watching. first off, i am not using FL but the idea should be the same but as far as I can tell from what i understand from your comment is you have a lot of lag or latency. that could be caused by a number of reasons, but the most common one is your computer's performance and your sound interface if you have one. if your hardware is ok, then you should probably look into your asio drivers. cheers.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @felipecampos12 it is a Roland PDX-8 - Dual-Trigger 10" Mesh V-Pad. it works perfectly with drum plugins like AD, but could be pain to handle with the built in sounds and settings of the drum kit itself.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  15 лет назад

    thank you. i am glad you like it.
    cheers.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    @iciclepyro hey there. it unfortunately doesn't fit into dtxplorer mount. i had to work my way around with a cowbell clamp as it has a vertical spike that would match the hole in pdx-8. as for the settings go, it really is very much personal and dependent on your playing style but make sure you avoid high gain and also set self reject and rejection parameters to make sure you don't hear additional hits generated because of trigger sensitivity.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    yes you can. to be perfectly honest, it is not really a complex setup at all. the brand really doesn't matter that much as the technology behind all that is simply a trigger. two in this case for the roland pad, one for the mesh head and the other for the rim and even though it is not mentioned anywhere in the manual of the yammie the module supports dual(stereo) jack input, so you have a signal from both triggers. cheers

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  15 лет назад

    a very precise observation on 2:49 there. :)
    cheers.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @JCFreak1121 not at all. but my answer is unfortunately no. these are not the stock sounds that come along with the module.these are the sounds from the addictive drums software that runs on my pc. i use the drum to trigger those and play and record in realtime.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @SOJ144 using the good old MIDI technology. connecting the drums to a sound interface and processing midi signals through that and your pc to trigger the samples that come along with AD. in a nutshell of course. :) thanks

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    @CityRuler1 yep. with no problems if you are planning to trigger drum sounds from your pc with a plug in like addictive drums. however using the original sounds from the brain may be a little frustrating and tricky and may not be as satisfying as you would expect it to be.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  15 лет назад

    hey there. thanks. I used the the original rack mount and fixed the roland pad to it with a clamp from an old cowbell, it's not really easy to describe here but somehow it is easier than it sounds. :)
    cheers

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @rasocomercial thanks mate!. well, it is not a must to use an audio interface but it surely saves you from a lot of frustration compared to a midi2usb cable and using your own pc's sound card that may not be designed for those purposes. hope that makes sense. cheers.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @mcjoz88 hey there! it is a Roland PDX-8 - Dual-Trigger 10" Mesh V-Pad and as my kit is a Yamaha, usage of this one was a mere experimentation. turns out it works perfectly with drum plugins like AD, but could be pain to handle with the built in sounds and settings of the drum kit itself. so it is actually worth it to upgrade if you would like to use it the way i do, but the stock one is adequate. the feel is totally different though. :) cheers

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @ACDC662 it is addictive drums hence the title. :) i am using cubase as my host to record my drums using ad as the drum plugin. i have posted a couple of instructional videos on how to set this up so you might want to check those out as well. may seem a bit boring with no action but i tried to explain the very basics so they might be of some use if not the best instructional videos.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @sdawg96 i am not sure how to respond to your question regarding "how easy" it would be. all i can say is yamaha brain is compatible with stereo input, so two signals from two separate triggers could be processed. this means the rim trigger is also utilized. however the drumbrain by default senses the rim as cross-stick but that also doesn't matter if you are using a plugin as you could map it to whichever drum part you please. hope this helps.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    @drumdrumdrumfun glad to hear that. just keep on working, you'll soon get the feeling. not comparable with a real hi-hat feel but still works somehow.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  15 лет назад

    :) the answer to your question is yes you can change any pad to trigger any sound you like so you can use the setup the way you like but unfortunately the module has no expansion option. what you see it all you can get in dtxplorer.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  15 лет назад

    hey there. i am glad you liked it. actually that snare pad is a dual trigger 8" roland v-drum pad and somehow dtxplorer could work with a dual trigger pad cause the connector jack is stereo enabled. :) actually the only thing i did was to learn that and give a shot. not to mention the trig. setup on the brain. :) what sort of a DAW you have? a midi usb cable may be sufficient if your sound card is capable of handling low latency direct I/O

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  13 лет назад

    @Phillakai123 no worries about the english. to be perfectly honest, it is not my mother tongue either. anyway. you can set up any pad (including the Roland pdx8 10" dual zone mesh v-pad i have) to trigger any sound as you please. they can be whatever you want them to be, a snare or a tom. they are not cheap but not very expensive ones either. definitely worth the money you pay for. i am not familiar with the current prices but do have a look at my channel for the brands and try googling them :)

  • @ibanezrd

    what a great snare sound.. its perfect.... great playing too man, ur real good, keep it up.... my drummer has one of these (i play guitar) i live in an apt so im thinkin about gettin the Alesis DM6, its a little cheaper.. always wanted to play drums

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    @ditoarch06 not at all. that would basically happen even if you have the registered copy. it needs to be mapped properly. that's nothing to do with errors. it is called a drum map. you can set every pad to trigger whatever you need them to trigger. that's a different thing. :)

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  15 лет назад

    hey there! I have been playing drums for almost 15 years now and if you consider the amount time i can safely say i am out of shape. :) that is mainly due to two things, i do not play drums on a regular basis because of my sick work&life balance and the band i have been playing in doesn't exist any more and the recent project i worked for as well. so in a sense i just play for keeping up with my drumming for the past couple of months.

  • @TolgaPala
    @TolgaPala  14 лет назад

    @charlie810i hey there. thanks. if you are using a pc to trigger drum sounds through a plug-in like addictive drums yes, but i wouldn't expect much in terms of compatibilty with the original drum sounds from the brain. hope that helps. cheers.

    @AlexWhitleyUK hey! well it wasn't easy but wasn't hard as well. i needed to be creative to use one of my cowbell clamps as I was too lazy to go buy the appropriate hardware but it worked. :) as far as the twin pedal go, the kick pad is fairly adequate for housing those two beaters.

    Hello. I recently purchased the DTX500 (evolution of the DTXplorer). You have stated that the PDX8 mesh pad works well with AD and other programs, but you have also said it does not work so well with the OEM DTX500 kits. Can you elaborate a bit? My entire kit is made up of DTX8 pads and I just want to know if I can tweek the DTX to work very well with them all. Thanks! Oh, I understand that the dual zone triggering will not work with the Roland pad.

    @tvmannu honestly, I have been thinking about it for quite some time as most of the questions I receive are similar like what brand i am using, how much it cost me, how i did it etc. so now that you also asked for it i think it would be a really good idea to put together a video talking a bit about all these stuff that fellow drummers are inquiring about. will do asap. :) many thanks.

    @drumdrumdrumfun i do like it very much thanks. it is most probably the best you can get in it's price range. it takes a little getting used to before setting it to a point of your playing comfort though but when you manage to get it there, it rocks. sturdy as well. :)

    Thank you very much. I would be very glad if I could help others that come across the same difficulties and can't get through. Fixed map? Unfortunately not for yammies most of the time. not sure of the new versions of the software though.

    @asdzxc11223344 yes you can and the kick pad is just the adequate size to utilize two beaters. it's not too big and not too small. cheers.

    @IamKari23 hi. it is a roland pdx-8 dual zone (rim and head) mesh pad and was bought around 160 dollars but that was a while ago. please search the net for up to date pricing. cheers.

    this could be because of a number of reasons so it is hard to tell which. do you hear any sound at all when you click on drum parts on the AD window? do you see the midi signal peaking when you hit any pad?

    Were you able to mount the Roland snare directly to the Yamaha rack system??...and are you using the input on the back of the kick pad to expand your kit?...I have expanded my kick with a ride and 3 zone snare.....

    @ditoarch06 simply put, it doesn't come out of the box all set. you need to jiggle around to suit your playing needs. :)
