Just be aware nobody has your back. Not doctors not police not lawyers nobody. So be safe. And be responsible for yourself. Protect yourself your family your friends your neighbours. The system all over the world is corrupt. When the 3rd biggest killer is medical negligence you realise things are reallt bad. Its the wild west have no doubt about it. The minute you break your leg and get hooked on fentynyl by a doctor lose your home etc nobody is going to come help you. Sad but better to protect yourself than expect it from anyone else and not happen.

Michelles end point is so true about somebody not needing to be physical to be abusive. I was in a 3 year relationship, emotionally and mentally manipulated until I had had enough. I ended the relationship and 3 days later, when returning home from visiting family in the evening(I was living in another city studying at university) when I got out of the taxi there he was, he pulled me to the floor and started kicking me all over. Thankfully the most he had inflicted was a broken jaw, it could have been so much worse. I then received a message a couple of hours later from HIS SISTER no less, apologising on his behalf and how “he didn’t mean to kick me in the face” followed up by a message from him of how much he loved me and reiterating “I wasn’t meant to hit u in the face, I was meant to only get your chest & stomach” ….

I totally agree (Thank you and I'm sorry you went thru experiencing Vietnam. Especially when your views & perspective on things have changed) It's frustrating how lost America is right now. It's become so unaffordable & dysfunctional. Our country is capable of so much greatness yet idk why it's not being utilized? There's so much potential. Yet Our gov. seems to have zero interest in improving these issues & improving the lives of its citizens. Our cities feel disconnected, soulless, bland, unaffordable, etc. I really don't like the direction modern America has gone. We could do so much better. I love this country. I just want to see things improve. The 90's at least had a range of prices & places where people could live, unique things to do & places to go. Poor People, middle, upper class. There was places for people of all economic ranges ~Nowadays we have universally unaffordable cost of living, rent prices, shop rent prices.. (unless you are wealthy) I don't understand how long we can continue to function in this extremely dysfunctional manner?? I hope things change. People stuck in poverty need places to live too.. it's ridiculous how our current system pretty much requires everyone to be financially well off or you are screwed 👍🏻 It's so realistic 👍🏻 it's completely impossible for everyone to be financially well off. We need living options. We need places that average people can live, poor people can live.. Raising wages just continually makes things worse because our country says "it Has to increase things" So it does nothing but make things worse. We need places people can live even if they make below average $ (look at all the rent prices right now? The same goes for the rent of local small businesses too. It's absurd. I know this because my mom runs a local small business in Oregon. So that's 2 insane rents to pay per month! It's the biggest challenge to afford rent. Profit isn't even a thing. Its can we make it to next month? How stupid is that? What kind of quality of life is that?) This is Modern Day America 👍🏻 and when you look at our government, it doesn't seem like anything is going to be addressed or improved anytime soon.. Maybe multiple generations from now, idk? All i know is vast change needs to be done. I'm tired of either side of our government. None of it is working. Hopefully motivated people will come in & help adapt this amazing country so it doesn't collapse in on itself. I don't get how our current situation can be acceptable?

Think of how that might have gone if you had to go through the family courts who state things like "well we don't know what she has been doing to him" and the abuser finds a new legally sanctioned way to abuse you through that court system and filing motions, manufacturing evidence through emails referring to things that never happened (or they twist in their practically supernatural ability to manipulate), using your child on top of that and forcing you to still have them in contact and in your life....this has been happening for decades and their are attorneys and other professionals (who get forced paying clients) who know and utilize this game well, especially with completely trumped up parental alienation claims all while they are the ones actually committing that and more.

Thank you for this coverage and powerful testimony to realities of DV.
As a survivor, it was hard to get through this. Yet also, as a survivor, it made me feel less alone: particularly when it comes to not being believed, and the link between verbal, mental, emotional abuse leading to physical abuse.
To all other survivors: I am proud of you. Whether you’ve won your freedom or are desperately trying to or are just realizing the reality, I’m proud of you.
To those just starting to realize their reality and questioning themselves: denial is the first part of escaping. Please don’t let that stage last long - watch videos like these which speak to your experience, research signs of abuse, and build yourself a support system because even if it’s small, it’s a lifeline. Find at least one place you can run to immediately when you are in fear, danger, or being abused in any way.
I had my things intentionally placed so that when I had to run out the door with no time for even looking for my purse, I could grab them on my way running out the door. I also kept spare clothes and such in my car, if you have that luxury.

I was a victim of abuse with 3 of 3 of my exs and when I tell you each time was no different from the first , second and 3rd time. AND yes for all of you thinking how could I have possibly fall for it each time and why I didn’t leave sooner. I was vulnerable each time and they made me believe I was never going to find anyone that would love me for me and once you’re in so deep it’s so hard to get out. Yes the signs were there and I stayed each time thinking I could change them. Prior to all of them the woman they were with before were also assaulted and love truly can blind you and I’m terribly sorry for what each and every woman that this Matthew had put them through. Michelle Rodger’s , (also my name) Kay , Jessica and whoever else has came across this inhumane human I’m so happy for the justice but deeply saddened that money will take the system towards injustice

I am glad you go out. After I got away from my physically/mentally abusive ex, I finally got the time to reflect on what had led me down that path. I know it started in childhood, with a narcissistic father who wanted sons and not the daughters he got. Raised being told I was stupid and lazy and generally being made to feel like an unwanted burden. Moving on into trying to please others, sacrificing all my own needs or desires to make sure others we "happy". Never realizing this is how you trained yourself to become an abusers target. Every relationship was worse than the previous, until I was with a man who made the others almost look like saints with his level of lying, manipulation, and violence. After I got out and moved two states away I started researching and learned terms like love bombing, hoovering, and cognitive dissonance. I learned that boundaries are things you NEED to put in place and NEVER COMPROMISE because boundaries are the fortress around your heart that keep the predatory animals from tearing it to shreds. I finally began to accept that I had far more to offer, that I WAS worthy of the respect I so easily gave away and that respect had to first be given to MYSELF before I gave it away to a potential partner based solely on the words they spoke that I wanted to believe. So many people seem to think they can treat intimate partners with contempt, disrespect, dismissivness, and devaluation. Like they believe people's hearts are disposable. Not to mention their time and efforts. It hurts my heart to see this and know it could be different if people chose to deal with their issues, not look to others to fix everything.
Please stay safe. You are worth keeping well. 💜

I hope you find whatever it is you have internalized that doesn't allow you to be in healthy relationships. You deserve to be happy and to have a healthy relationship with a significant other. I was in an abusive relationship with a manipulator, that fucked with my head, that isolated me from my friends and family, controlled who I spoke to, what I wore, what I did, stole money from me and made me feel like I was the crazy one for being mad about it, and so many other things. Not once did he ever hit me. But I knew back then, it would most likely escalate to that when I didn’t want to bend to his will any longer. I broke up with him, and kicked him out and it was like the weight of the world off my shoulders, and I cried from happiness and relief it was finally over for days. I hope other people in abusive situations can feel that same level of relief and leave these horrible people before things escalate. If you’re someone in a situation like that, don’t let anything they say hold you back. You are worthy of love, happiness, and to be with someone who doesn’t treat you like that. I didn’t believe that for the longest time and that’s why I stayed in that relationshit for years. And now I’m married to a wonderful man who is my best friend, and would never treat me like that. It took my now ex moving on to a new woman who he had dated and emotionally destroyed just out of high school ( why she looked him up is a mystery to me) for me to realize he really was abusive to me.
11 years later and I can still hear all the cruel, nasty, derogatory comments he’d say to me. I really have to out loud say “you are NOT ugly”, “you are NOT an idiot”, “you are NOT useless “ and so many other other things he’d loudly say to me.
After the lovebombing he’d have me confused as to why he was angry with me. His kids , in particular his 12yo son, would say “why is dad angry” and all I could do was assure him I’d try to figure it out.
“The kids and I are wondering what’s wrong? We’re walking on eggshells here.”
    “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“What is what supposed to mean?”
“Are you now going to try to gaslight me when I clearly heard you say it? You KNOW what you said. So WHAT is THAT supposed to mean?!!”
    “Walking on eggshells?!?”
“Dear God I thought you were smart! Yes! What is that supposed to mean?!? “
    “It’s a figure of speech…”
“I am f**king aware of that!!! How many times do I have to ask this?!? What is it supposed to mean?! “
“We are nervous about setting you off as you keep snapping at us.” I had tears streaming down my face from his yelling at this point.
    “Now what are you doing?!”
I had had enough so I snapped back “I’m crying, obviously!!!”
“What’s with the tone,” he asked as if he was bored.
That was a first of 10’s of millions of exchanges we had in our 16 years together.
Now he barely has anything to do with our daughter ( because she wouldn’t let him claim her on his taxes because if he did she wouldn’t qualify for student loans or grants. She never lived with him anyway and he didn’t pay child support for her so … ) and he doesn’t talk to his two kids from his marriage before mine. At all. I do as often as I can. Because I love them. My son is a grown man and a chef ( catered for Madonna when she came to town on Feb 18th) and I’m going to his house for a birthday dinner ( he missed my bday party because of Madonna).
And he married the other woman and moved her away from her kids and sister ( any support she had).
I know he viewed her as a better victim because, while he was lovebombing her she told him about how her last husband had beat her up every day of their marriage and then tried to k*ll her and him with a shotgun blast between them. He died. She didn’t.
My ex was probably mentally clapping his hands as he Mwahahahahaha laughed.
She admitted to my daughter that she knew she had made a mistake but it was too late because she realized after they were married and she didn’t believe in divorce. 🫤

Thank you Prosecutor Diaz and Michelle for doing whatever she could to prevent Kay Baker's death. Matthew Terry's parents should have problems sleeping with all the money they spent in defending their sicko son. There is no way they did not see signs of Matthew's unhealthy personality and attitudes regarding women.
Matthew Terry's father, Mark Terry. He said he loved his son. When asked by Hillsborough public defender Jamie Kane if his relationship with his son will continue if he's sentenced to life in prison, Mr. Terry responded positively. "We do all we can do. We're here. We're still his parents. We're still good friends actually," he explained.
That followed Terry's mother, Kathi Terry, who wiped tears as she urged the jury to have mercy. "I can't imagine any mother any parent wanting their child to die. You just can't stop loving him. And I will always. I cannot love him anymore," sobbed Terry.
Thy created the weak, pathetic son , possibly by spoiling him. Often it is learned behaviour witnessing the parents' relationship and domination of the father over the mother.

He never hit me (apart from pushing me once) but by the end tried to take my things away from me, such as my phone. On one occasion he lifted his fist up as in about to hit me. This was the very end and last straw and I'm so thankful for my mom who made me realize what was going on. I escaped. Sadly, some victims don't manage it in time and end up mutilated or even dead. i feel like he's done this more than the times we know about since his parent have money its easy to cover up crimes. i hate when they feel the need to stay in an abusive relationship for the kids do not do that. it teaches kids that you can abuse their partner and its ok. if its safe and possible please just leave with the kids never stay. they dont need an abusive parent in their life they'll be just fine with one loving parent

When a parole board gets it wrong, the people on that board should be held to account.
They failed to make sure that anyone is safe therefore they should pay.

The very concept of being able to "bail somebody out" is perverse.

It's not domestic violence it's domestic abuse because you don't have to physically touch someone to abuse them.

You're absolutely correct. Domestic abuse encompasses a wide range of behaviors beyond physical violence, including emotional, psychological, and financial abuse. It's crucial to recognize and address all forms of abuse within relationships.

@@praytogodus thank you the sooner we get away from the belief that abuse is just physical the better.
As it will only help more victims sooner so they ask for and receive help in a non violent situation or before a situation becomes violent.

Just shows how corrupt, ignorant, and greedy out justice system is. This woman survived an attempted murder and they let the guy go and when he does it again and finally gets convinced, they still won't give her full custody of the child....are you f'n kidding me.

I’ve dated a manipulative person before. He didn’t hurt me physically but he did what a manipulative abuser does best-they will gaslight you then they’ll love bomb you. After all of that, their abuse will cool down for a couple of weeks or months, then when they feel like you’ve relaxed enough, they’ll hurt you once again. It’s a never ending cycle. It’ll go on like that until you’ll finally snap out of it. Sad thing is, it’s too late for some victims because they’d be dead before they snap out of their situation. It gives a totally different definition to “love is blind”.

He’s a narcissist. They escalate because they usually get away with what they do by using lies and charm. Like she said, many women will fail to recognize the man is abusive because they haven’t hit them YET. But being manipulated, being controlled with money, being trapped in a relationship by way of isolation or pregnancy are all forms of violence.

If you are rich then you get a slap on the wrist . So he murdered the next victim and this wouldn’t of happened if he was sent to jail in the first place . This is disgusting !!!
