    I hear a lot of snobbery about machines and I completely take your point about the software as trying to do some of the updates has been a nightmare, but Nokta do listen to the users and have got better. As for the machine, yes you can take it out of the box and use it, but like any other multifrequency machine, if you do that, you might miss a lot. The Legend is packed with technology and to be compared to much more expensive machines like the Nox, Dues and now the Manticore speaks for itself, this machine is no where near those prices. I spent 3 months whilst the fields were full of crops, back years testing and getting to know my Legend. Ive now got it set up perfectly for the fields I search on and it picks up the minutest artefacts and deep depth too. I will agree that even though you can dilute iron sounds, it will pick it up, but then I like to listen to the sounds and you get to know what iron sounds like and its number. I agree with the Ferous check, its useless and I don't take any notice of it. Overall its a powerful machine, but you have to get to know hoe to use it. I used an Etrac before and loved that, but the Legend is a lot lighter. Ive also got a Simplex that I keep in reserve and love that too. Ive found great hammered coins and gold with the both, so don't be put off by the snobbery about the Legend. Your bank balance will thank you for it.

    what a rubbish review perfect starter machine I have been detecting in excess of 25 years currently own a Nox 800 (basically the exactly the same detector but not so well built) and a Deus and a T2 sold my CTX and I pick up the Legend 90% of the time

    When i was deciding between the Legend or the nox 800 i chose tge nox because i preferred the screen and button settings for one reason.I can tell you that tge nox is brilliant on the beach wet and dry sand,can have it nearly full sensitivity with no false signals at all.

    You dig more iron with the legend? I just watched a video of legend out preforming nox 900, Deus and Manticore on bottle cap simulation. Manticore has major issues in the iron people are finding out.. Maybe the 1.11 update will change your thoughts.

    I've been detecting for 40 years . After taking a 3 year break because of several arm shoulder surgeries, I'm getting back into it. I kept my legend and my Xp ORX. I sold my 600 and my 800, out of warranty and was having issues. For the money with the 1.15 update, the legend is in the top 3 IMHO.

    • @sstrohalm

      1.15 is any good? I see some reviews where they say 1.13 is more stable.

  • @dalchrmar

    Completely understand your review as it's based on your experiences but all are different. I made the brave and some might say unusual decision to ditch my Nox 800 for the Legend and it's the best thing I've ever done. I barely ever dig any iron to be honest. Also this week I went out on Tuesday and found an Elizabeth I shilling and today I uncovered a cut half of a milled Charles I - it's absolutely bloody tiny 🤣 Think I have turned into what are sometimes described as 'fanboys' of a certain detector but that's only based on my experience of it which has been overwhelmingly positive. I've had mine over a year and never had a problem with headphones. The one thing I will say though is that with each update it makes changing the settings that little bit more complicated which is a pain for somebody with a memory like mine lol

    What do you suggest (waterproof) for a somewhat beginner user?

  • @mrtaffspoon
    @mrtaffspoon Год назад +9

    I think this would be ok for a beginner.. You can use it straight out of the box. You don't have to learn what everything does straight away.. As you gain experience, you can learn more about it's features. I bought a Simplex first & quickly realised its limitations & upgraded to the Legend. The Equinox was out of my price range. The legend has all the features you will need.

    If you have problems with false signals, particularly at the ends of your swing, make sure the cable connection is tight. Take the excess slack out of the cable and wrap the excess near the control box. Secure the cable in several places with velcro strips. Made a huge difference on my Legend.

      Bro, keep your Legend... This might be an honest review, but it is NOT an unbiased one. I've had mine for 2 years now and I'll put my Legend up against a Nox any day of the week in any environment. Find a target with a Nox and I guarantee you I can hit it with a Legend. A lot of Nox users get bent out of shape because they spent over twice as much on a their machine and don't want to admit someone's doing just as good if not better for less than half the price. There's a ton of snobbery in the MD hobby. If someone spends a couple years getting used to the Nox and it's settings then swings a Legend for a week they are not in a good position to do an honest comparison. I actually love the ferro check on mine. I don't follow it like gospel, but it does help me decide to dig/not dig on iffy signals. Once you get to know the Legend I'd put it up against any other machine out there. Perhaps the Deus 2 or the Manticore might have a SLIGHT edge.. but were talking 97% of the performance for a third of the price. If that 3% is worth $1,000 to you, then by all means get the D2 or Manticore. ML themselves finally admitted that while they advertised the Manticore as "40% more power!" what that actually translates to in the real world was an extra 1-2 mm at a depth of 12 inches.

  • @allanohlsen7729
    @allanohlsen7729 Год назад +8

    I love my legend. It's pulled 3 silvers, a dozen old pennies, and 4 nickels from my yard and my neighbors yard, places I've gone over a dozen times with three other machines. Unbelievable separation, I dig far less trash. The Ferro check only works to about 8-9 inches down, but works well. I run zero discrimination, five tones/zones with different volumes for each zone. It's a great machine, however there are no hammered coins in my area. :-) Nice review, Grimm.

    I am a starter. Until now i only dug up one iron nail. Yes one. This was on purpose, just to asure me the machine can tell the difference...
    I swinged the coil on spots with lots of iron but choose the non iron signals. I may start finding unwanted iron the moment i go deeper, reacting on less clear signals numbers & sound. But this should happen to every machine...and RUclips is full of examples of this.

    Hi Grim. Thanks for your review. I'm thinking of buying this machine, I wanted the Deus 2, but its not sold in Malaysia and I don't want to have to answer to customs and pay import duty. So now I have to buy it online , online here means it's in the cou try and I only pay local postage.
    My worry is that I'll get a dud one , one of the older models with all the initial problems. How can I get away from that ?
    I'd like to hunt for gold, but you don't really mention that .
    Also I'd like advise from you about using it on the beach and in shallow rockpools as that's where I live.

      I realize this is a year old post, but I'll put this incase a new user comes across it.. If you're brand new to the Legend and want to get out there swinging right away just pick Park or Field (Park for better discrimination in trashy areas, Field to go a bit deeper in clean areas), put it in Multi 1, 2, or 3 (1 if your primarily looking for silver, 2 is good all around, and 3 for places with lots of aluminum can-slaw), put it in 60 tone (so no need to set the tone breaks) and start swinging. Run your sensitivity as high as you can without it getting too chirpy. I generally start mine at 25 (out of 30) then adjust as necessary. If your soil is heavily mineralized read up on how to ground balance (it's easy).

I'm finding this machine works very well in high iron and is able to separate very well. A few people have done reviews and the one thing missing from all reviews is a proper side by side live dig comparison. I know that's not easy to arrange but its the only solid way to say if one machine is doing something the other isn't.

    Interesting review. I'm 50 hours in to my legend and it was my first detector so steep learning curve but I feel I know it fairly well now. Bad points - it wan be unstable I find, it falses quite a lot, loves big iron but I'veearnt to avoid that based on the sound, haven't found a single copper or silver coin in 50 hours on various permissions and group digs...I know it will find them of course so I must be really unlucky! Good points - well built, easy interface once you've learnt it, price, seems to find tiny fragments of metal so I'm reasonably happy it's not missing much but then my finds pouch might say otherwise. I'm considering an upgrade as I'm curious what a Deus2 or Nox900 brings for the extra money over the legend

    Reviews tasting elitism are funny, why are you annoyed or cringed at every positive aspect you have to mention? Basically you had an erratic response on a coin in a plugged field with 8"+ gaps, you dug some iron without mentioning any settings, and you didn't find hamered yet. With that you conclude "it's now a usable if not a good machine", with fear of missing stuffs as the main factor
    I have have no doubt this is an honest review, but for all viewers looking for opinions on the Legend, I'm sorry to say this video is not the most objective and relevant, I used Tesoro Cortes & Vaquero, Nokta Fors Core, XP adventis, and XP deus 1 for the most. I found my first hamered with the Legend, I dug way less iron than with any other machine, stable operations, the ferrocheck is quite usefull and accurate, ID's are the most stable and accurate I had at significantly better depth, I never hitted such deep stuffs before, especially small low conductive targets (+3-4" vs my other machines, +1-3" on bigger targets), target separation is amazing, particulary with the LG24 even in SF, to my surprise I was finding very tiny things in iron infested sites at very good depth only days after reception. For me the Legend has been very easy and quick to learn and understand, it is rugged in construction, a pleasure to swing with the LG24, a top tier performer since 1.09 and backed with frequent updates, settings are richs and complete with high end level of adjustability, to this day it even have better fulltones operation than the Deus 2. It just outperforms every others of my metal detectors in every aspect. I have no doubt the D2 and Manticore can have an edge in the hand of an advanced detectorist, but on land against a nox800/900 there is no winner overall or it has yet to be clearly seen, Nox is more refined in operations but performancewise we hear both ways. I didn't buy the Nox800 over the Legend for 3 reasons, leaking issue, coil construction and durability issue, grip handle ergonomy. I may buy the 900 at some point for open places because of the Nox cool factor and for having a second reliable multi unit, but not because I want a better machine
    I'm not a fanboy, I'm just a guy walking the countryside on its own, pastures, fields, woods, ancient houses, roman and iron infested sites, with all kinds of grounds, some creeks, sometimes a beach, I have a decent bit of technical and operational understanding, I want performance, versatility and reliability, without being worried about $ investment, failures, too much scratches, erratic behavior, or the fear of missing something.
    The Legend is not a perfect detector, I would like to be able to change the volume of some segments on 60 tones, I would like the audio of the 1.09 on the 1.11 version, a graph like the D1 XY or the one on the Atrex, the middle carbon shaft and the LG30 instead of the LG28, but there are way more things I would like on other machines. This is my honest opinion, if your hunting style is similar there are good chances the Legend feels awesome and more than just "usable" to you, and I didn't speak about the price point

I really didn’t enjoy using the Legend after upgrading from the Simplex, BUT since the upgrade to software v1.09 (not sure about the current Beta version of 1.10) it became a fantastic tool to use. Like other people who have commented, I have found hammerd’s, quarter hammies, Roman and a Stater, so not so bad (I’ve only been detecting since 2021).
    Each user will have a different opinion and each field will give up different goodies, it’s as much luck as skill at times I think you will agree?
    Please do a pinpointer review, I’d be very interested in seeing that.
    And by the way…if you want a trip to Suffolk sometime, give me a shout, I’d be happy to take you on my turf sometime.

    Great review Thanks! I've had machines where I either lost confidence in them and it's hard to get it back. I think that's why I"m reluctant to give up my ORX it's just so light and I never feel like I'm missing anything. It's not waterproof or even rain proof though and I really don't like having to remember to charge 3 or 4 things before I go out each time.

    I've found a couple of hammered coins and silvers coins with my legend, and I've noticed that tool steel and blacksmith iron rings up at 35 and gives a great signal but when looking at Ferro check it says iron, dug a few targets just to confirm it and was right each time otherwise I love my machine, ps love your vids keep up the great work that you do 👍

    All being said and done all nokta macro machines are very poor build quality i wouldn't entertain one at all...would rather buy a nox600 its a no brainer 👍

      You have no brain if you think that! The leakquinox is the worst built machine on the market with broken coils, leaking issues and broken armcuffs. Obviously you have no idea what you're talking about! 😂😂😂

    • @michaelpacnw2419
      @michaelpacnw2419 6 месяцев назад

      You've obviously never used one. I'd take a Legend all day long over the leak-quinox. The legend is a solid built machine. I bought it particularly because I detect in rough country and you don't need to worry about breaking it. I find your comment humorous coming from a Nox 600 user. ML knew the Nox had leaking problems right away and to this day, several years later, has done nothing about it.. combine the water ingress issues with the broken coil ears, broken arm cuffs, and wobbly shaft and what you have is a fragile machine. I don't know anyone swinging a Nox that will actually use it in the water after the warranty runs out. You can throw your Legend across the yard and not have to worry about it.

    8.20
    The Legend is 3 Ib and the Equinox 8/900 are around 2.3 Ib . Thats what i have heard. Not weighed them.
    I think its main fault is , not the machine but the headphones. They are too quiet and i have found that in ground a Pound coin which would be loud and clear at 10 inches on a Nox would be fairly quiet on the Legend phones. I did talk to Dilek about this but!
    But anyway i have found 2 x 22k Gold , 1 x 14k Gold rings , 22 Silver rings and over £422 in coinage since June. If the phones were better sound or louder like the Nox i would say it would match the Nox but its those that hold the machine back. Also maybe the sound settings on the machine might be a tad to low being up to 6.
    But will the internal speaker handle a higher volume?
    It might be the phones volume on some targets that is losing targets ?? I'm not going to say its the deepest machine. Air tests it seems good but its in ground that matters. On beaches during summer its a good scavenging machine. Most targets wont be very deep.
    The hand grip. After some use the handgrip on the control box starts to loosen and will spin round. I'm talking around the grip itself not the whole box.
    The menu is a bit tricky to navigate but not as bad as some. And updates will make it worse if you done have an up to date manual.
    The coil cover is an absolute pain to get on if you take it off. The little lips on the coil will break if trying to force the cover back on. Best to warm up the cover under a hot tap for a few moments. If cold it will break the little lips on the coil.
    As for the rest of the machine. No issues at all. It has a purpose and that is mostly on the beach between late Spring till mid Autumn. Later than that depends on depth of targets.
    Main strength of the machine is build quality
    Main weakness is the headphones sound. Its better using it without if not windy.
    Good video. Can i have some more please?

      Hi, I don't own the legend but I think you can boost the sound gain of the finds and it will give you stronger squeaks, or not?
