Awesome mod, Tito! I've had this in my psp go since last summer, and it's been amazing! Plastic trimming was so minimal I didn't mind. Will you be reviewing the PSP Go power armour mod? It may alleviate having to trim plastic, for those that care.
Hey Tito, nice video! I did this mod a while back using an M2 adapter from etsy, i had to solder my own ribbon to the mem card adapter. One thing i did to get rid of the bump on the back, was to sand down that raised plastic you see under the copper tape, since my shell is after market i got no problem doing that. Cheers
Just did this upgrade after seeing your video. Just came in today and installed it with no issues what so ever. 100% would recommend 1st mod for a PspGO.
I actually imported the original adapter from japan back in the day. The conductive adhesive was hit and miss but then later on I got one that had the ribbon soldered onto the SD card adapter from etsy. Been working great.
I did this mod years ago when you had to buy a Memory Stick Micro breakout PCB, provide your own freebie SD-mSD adapter and solder it together with magnet wire. Nice to see it's much more accessible these days!
That big slowdown is a problem in games too - games like Motorstorm with a lot of streaming music and FMV will stutter and sometimes hang up with the adapter. In my experience, it's also had the tendency to regularly unmount itself when carrying the PSP around in your pocket, requiring dozens of reboots to try and get it recognized by the system again.
Yeah I've found these big storage solutions sometimes just don't play music. I know in Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded, when you play the Street Fighter II games and get to your second win-quote screen, you won't hear the music at all. But the very first time and all occasions after, it's fine. It's the weirdest thing. I think this music was only delayed slightly on a real 32 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo. I can't remember if it played at all with 64 GB on a PSP-3000 using an adapter. Of course, I'm just glad I know those old Street Fighter games inside and out. Makes me wonder what kind of music I'd be missing if I played a PSP game for the first time with one of these big storage solutions... 😐 EDIT: Also didn't matter if that game was my original untouched PSN download, or I decrypted it to an uncompressed ISO. It did run fine on a Vita with 512 GB, but I hate the Vita d-pad, so.
oh wow, i've been waiting for this for a long time now. def keeping an eye out for a cheap psp go, it's the only model i was ever interested in, and you fixed my major problem with the device. 10/10 mod
This mod basically implies that the Sony proprietary format is pretty much the same as an SD card just a different physical proportion. Love to see it...
I’ve done this mod to two of mine (re shell to red and blue) and it’s awesome. Super easy to do, made a video as well, always enjoy your content man keep it up!
The mod that any PSP GO user need imo. I've one of those SD adaptater for a UK store for about a year and a half and that's the best way to store and discover a lot of rare and expensive PSP games. I hope one day someone is going to do the same thing with the Vita, I dislike a lot the SD2VITA because of many issue I have with !
Wow the case even stays closed with this improved mod, that's great. And the price is really affordable too, i am definitely going to do this to my PSP go at some point!
I wouldn't wait too long if i were you... I placed my order, just 5 minutes ago. These mods always come and go, so at 13 bucks and 7 bucks for shipping, there isn't a need to delay.
I listened to your advice, went to order but apparently they don't ship to the united kingdom. Looks like i'm stuck with 16gb internal storage 😩😩😩😩 @@BeingKyleBusch18
I have an an adapter for my PSP2000 but there it is much easier since the device comes with a big MemStick slot. In your video it looked like the one in the GO was slimmer. It's too bad the Go costs so much nowadays, given I backed up all my UMDs anyway (luckily my PSP's UMD drive still works), this would be a nice replacement.
I made this mod a couple of years ago and it is truly amazing. Can sign on every word of pros and cons section. The only thing I did besides is removed a copper plated on the rear shell and cleaned up a little bit of plastic of the shell with a file so the card fits perfectly. Yeah, kinda vandalism for somewhat rare piece of retro technology but it made it much more usable now.
I just literally got a PSP Go almost new for $120. I was gonna try that mod, but I'm gonna hold for the moment with the internal 16gb. If they come back in stock, I'll probably get one.
There’s a fix for the folder load time. Using the categories plugin allows you to put games and emulators in folders on your sd card. This allows you to break up your content. You can do folders by genre or alphabetical and will yield faster times.
Ive had one of these adapters for about 8 months now. DONT GO OVER 128GB if you care about load speeds. Also, there is a battery mod that you can do to give the Go a Vita battery, but it makes the system unable to dock, and thatd be a major loss for me (I paid nearly $200 for a dock so I could play PS1 games on the TV, or I wouldnt of swapped my PS1 for an N64 with a friend).
I did this, screen replacement, battery replacement, and a aluminum case. It was easy and its a great mod. All the psp and emulated games i could want. The form factor is so portable. Its definitely more compact that my phone with a controller witch is what i use mostly admittedly.
my psp 3000 and Vita already have a similar mod so i wouldn't bother with installing this one, still cool that you are able to expand the storage more easier instead of using expensive memory cards
To me the biggest con is to open the console whenever you want to get to the sd card. The PSP Go is my least favourite model, a sd to mms adapter on the 1000-3000 series is way cheaper and easier to use. That said it's still great to have such mods regardless of preference, it makes the thing at least usable.
You should also look into the battery pack upgrade using power armor shells. It's not only a massive battery upgrade but also gives some depth to the shell for a more comfortable grip.
Another con is that you need the right kind Micro SD Memory Card (older cards don't seem to work very well with this adapter) and you need the right adapter kit, being not all of the ones sold on the market are of good quality...also the limitation of 128GB is a know drawback of being able to have your entire collection in the palm of your hands, but for the most part you can part out yout favroites (i think its up to 100 games can be loaded on a psp before it the os bugs out) That id where categories lighy comes in so you can sort your games in folders and basically drag and dropp your games in whatever sorting style you might want or need
This is an awesome mod. It'd be nice to see the same thing for Vita memory cards so that we can use SD cards in that and still use the cartridge slot for legit cartridges.
One of the best consoles ever made IMHO, I have two of them. I love how portable and pocketable it is, I used to use mine all the time when I was commuting. I bought the original Kouchan mod but could never get it to work reliably, been looking for a supplier of this one but I can't find anywhere that ships it to the UK :(
The PSP Go is an *Absolute Marvel* of portability! I had one, and I LOVED it, but the main drawback was the lack of storage... But with an adaptor like this, I'd absolutely get another one!
I have this kind of mod from an european seller since around autumn last year. Its absolutely awesome, despite the system loading quite a while after filling it with all the games I own. But damn, the GO is worth it. For me it has the best stick placement of every PSP console.
I still have my original from kouchan from 2017, it connected to the adapter with conductive tape, then i got an upgraded one that was soldered and its still working in my Go to this day
I got this mod fairly recently, along with a bigger back-shell so I could fit a PSVita battery in it. Its honestly my favorite handheld rn, other than my Steam Deck
It’d be great if someone came up with a 3D printed back cover for the PSP Go which accommodated the back bulge; wouldn’t perform this purely because of the plastic trimming and the long-term effects of stretching the back cover plastic.
My Go is kitted with a 16GB M2 card (and as a whole I've moved most of my PSP ventures to the Vita, which has its own SD adapter like this now, via the PSVSD and an extension ribbon) but I might do this just for the heck of it. Seems like fun.
Ugh I still have some of the Kouchan mods. Those evil things used this sticky tape stuff to attach the ribbon to the sd card converter and it was not only hard to apply, but it also had a high rate of degradation. I replaced mine with the soldered versions that have been available for a few years on Etsy. Cool to see more options.
I had a PSP Go (white model) on my hand with the 128 GB storage upgrade and this little device looks amazing in terms of hardware appearance. Btw, if anyone has a modded PSP Go or any other related models, I do recommend two mod to improve the game library management 1. Game Categories (Lite): This will allow users to create custom categories for your PSP Games, homebrew, PSX Games, or anything else installed in the ISO or GAME directory. 2. HomeBrew Sorter: This will allow user to re-arrange the game order placement to users liking like in alphabetical order. It works wonderful with Game Categories (Lite) so that you can categorize the game folder for each platform (PSP, PS1, etc.) and do game management within each categorized folder
I'd love to see a version of this with a small RAM cache buffer, this should greatly decrease load times latency, boot times, stop any load jitter/stuttering, the faster, the better, and just a small amount should do, it could also be combined with a NAND cache to temporarily load games onto when playing, or even the last few games you have played to really speed things up, you could make the RAM cache large enough to hold at least one game at a time, but it would be much cheaper and more efficient to use a RAM/NAND combination, the PSP is notoriously laggy to load games from SD cards, and the more ISO's and PSN games you have, to slower and more laggy it gets, but a 256MB RAM and 8GB NAND cache chip would negate this problem and make the PSP so much more enjoyable to use.
Kinda looks like it might be possible to just hack together some sort of MicroSD card slot that could be soldered directly to the board replacing the M2 slot. That would be such a better solution, that way you wouldn't have to open up the console every time you wanted to add new games.
if i saw this a few years ago, i would've done this exact same mod for my dust collecting PSPGO. but i recently got given a PSVITA which in all honesty, a better overall handheld from the PSPGO. Modifiable, Better OLED Screen, Access to a larger library, more advanced homebew, and what i like the most; Vita simply has the exact same hardware/pcb as a psp inbuilt so playing old PSP games is just as good.
Funny I should see this now on RRGB weekly roundup because I was was just wondering about how I could add more storage to a PSP Go I recently picked up! Very serendipitous!
This along with the ps vita battery and back panel mod make the PSP go 10x better but you can't use the dock if you were lucky enough to get one of those but there is a cable that does the same thing. I think this nice for playing at home if you sync up a PS3 controller.
@@Blehstor when it costs nearly as much it had new to purchase second-hand, you’d be hardpressed not to care about the cosmetics. regardless of if it’s plastic tabs meant to better secure the back housing, in those cases I’d usually prefer to go with a third party replacement so to not leave any long lasting regrets.
@@iaincowell9747 not all pieces of plastic are the same. small 1mm plastic that is inside the console and you literally never see again is not the same as a big chunk that is always visible..

The PSP Go was the last PSP to be released in the US. Europe received the PSP E-1000, which removed Wi-Fi capabilities and was more lightweight. The shell was matte black. It's a nice, little console.
Stereo audio, wifi and maybe even video out were removed. The battery was made more of a pain to get to (because it's behind that big, clunky UMD door). I'd only want one if I could mod it to play downloads, then give it a cellphone battery mod.
I'm surprised this took so long to come out. I've never had a PSP Go, but I own a PSP 1000, a PSP 2000, and a Vita. I modded the PSP's with a Memory Stick Duo to Micro SD years ago. My Vita has a Vita to SD adaptor as well.
I understand why Sony made MemoryStick but of course it was slow, expensive and capacity was always crap. I'm glad there's MemoryStick/M2 to SD adapters.

good job supporting a well known scammer in the gaming community. Aaamods is the original designer and genius game mods just stole the design and copied it. They do that with lots of products they sell
About the slight bolge, I modified the adapter and soldered the sdcard directly to the ribbon cable tho.. I rather modified the adapter instead of modified the pspgo itself 😅 also about the 5-15 second delay when starting the console, it was a firmware mod that causes the delay you can tweak the firmware mod so it only gives you about 2-4 second delay, I never use infinity tbh 😊also I found out that SanDisk ultra A2 128gb works way better than samsung.. anyway. good video as always, tito 🎉

Did this to my white PSP GO last year... SO nice to just have every game I have on the one system... Always loved the GO...
I use toenail clippers ss flush cutters. They honestly work amazingly
Check if your game is in CSO or ISO format. CSO compression can cause this behavior on the PSP.
EDIT: Also didn't matter if that game was my original untouched PSN download, or I decrypted it to an uncompressed ISO. It did run fine on a Vita with 512 GB, but I hate the Vita d-pad, so.
oh wow, i've been waiting for this for a long time now. def keeping an eye out for a cheap psp go, it's the only model i was ever interested in, and you fixed my major problem with the device. 10/10 mod
if you get a psp go. Get the adapter from the original creator. Aaamods. Genius game mods is a known scammer in the gaming community
I've upgraded mine with the Japanese modder cable. It's has been working flawlessly trough the year
The mod that any PSP GO user need imo.
I've one of those SD adaptater for a UK store for about a year and a half and that's the best way to store and discover a lot of rare and expensive PSP games.
I hope one day someone is going to do the same thing with the Vita, I dislike a lot the SD2VITA because of many issue I have with !
Depends on the model of SDtoVita you're using. Are you the game card version, or the one that replaces the 3G modem in the OLED OG?
Wow the case even stays closed with this improved mod, that's great. And the price is really affordable too, i am definitely going to do this to my PSP go at some point!
As long as you trim off the plastic tabs it will.
I wouldn't wait too long if i were you... I placed my order, just 5 minutes ago. These mods always come and go, so at 13 bucks and 7 bucks for shipping, there isn't a need to delay.
I listened to your advice, went to order but apparently they don't ship to the united kingdom. Looks like i'm stuck with 16gb internal storage 😩😩😩😩 @@BeingKyleBusch18
get an adapter from the original designer. Aaamods
Your regular reminder that Macho Nacho has the best intro among all retro/tech enthusiast channels. Its ICONIC
Picked it up. Thanks for putting this in a spotlight!
well if you bought one from genius game mods.... good job supporting a scammer who stole this design from aaamods
Finally, I thought you wouldn't do a tutorial on the PSP Go. Thanks Tito!!!! ♥
I just literally got a PSP Go almost new for $120. I was gonna try that mod, but I'm gonna hold for the moment with the internal 16gb. If they come back in stock, I'll probably get one.
get one from the original designer Aaamods. Not from that rip off artist "genius" game mods. He is a well known scammer in the gaming community
Man I truly love the psp I just wish it had more psychical upgrades cause man I'd kill to have a ips psp 3000 screen
To me the biggest con is to open the console whenever you want to get to the sd card. The PSP Go is my least favourite model, a sd to mms adapter on the 1000-3000 series is way cheaper and easier to use.
That said it's still great to have such mods regardless of preference, it makes the thing at least usable.
i just refreshed your video page and this was posted 11 seconds ago :D
You should also look into the battery pack upgrade using power armor shells. It's not only a massive battery upgrade but also gives some depth to the shell for a more comfortable grip.
Is there space in the shell to expose the SD adapter ?
those are sold out everywhere
Another con is that you need the right kind Micro SD Memory Card (older cards don't seem to work very well with this adapter) and you need the right adapter kit, being not all of the ones sold on the market are of good quality...also the limitation of 128GB is a know drawback of being able to have your entire collection in the palm of your hands, but for the most part you can part out yout favroites (i think its up to 100 games can be loaded on a psp before it the os bugs out) That id where categories lighy comes in so you can sort your games in folders and basically drag and dropp your games in whatever sorting style you might want or need
just ordered. thank you so much for this video.
I bought the original Kouchan mod but could never get it to work reliably, been looking for a supplier of this one but I can't find anywhere that ships it to the UK :(
I LIVE FOR THE INTRO MUSIC!
This is a nice mod. I still have my Sony 16gb M2 card. This console is great for playing on a TV with Ds3 controller.
Try category lite plugin
I enjoy watching these mod videos
I still have my original from kouchan from 2017, it connected to the adapter with conductive tape, then i got an upgraded one that was soldered and its still working in my Go to this day
Great boot of kit I wish I had a psp go now.
Amazing vídeo! this was one of the mods that I able to do myself, definately reccomend it! easy to do, so many advantages! Congrats!
I got this mod fairly recently, along with a bigger back-shell so I could fit a PSVita battery in it. Its honestly my favorite handheld rn, other than my Steam Deck
Can’t wait to see the modding community come out with some cool stuff for the 3ds
Ever since 202 I've only used my psp go as a media player, love the sensme chanels
It’d be great if someone came up with a 3D printed back cover for the PSP Go which accommodated the back bulge; wouldn’t perform this purely because of the plastic trimming and the long-term effects of stretching the back cover plastic.
Hasn't this thing existed for a while? I bought one months ago but haven't gotten around to installing it yet.
That's quick mod! Psps are nice systems to play and mod
Man, I really loved the PSP. Still love my launch unit!
Yes you got one probably from aaamods who is the original creator of the design
I love this formfactor. I wish they could make a modern gaming phone with that sliding controls aspect.
I had a PSP Go (white model) on my hand with the 128 GB storage upgrade and this little device looks amazing in terms of hardware appearance.
Btw, if anyone has a modded PSP Go or any other related models, I do recommend two mod to improve the game library management
Sweet little device that now finds its self on my wish list.
LETS GOOO I have been waiting for this for a long time.
get one from the original designer Aaamods. Not from that rip off artist "genius" game mods. He is a well known scammer in the gaming community
Funny I should see this now on RRGB weekly roundup because I was was just wondering about how I could add more storage to a PSP Go I recently picked up! Very serendipitous!
Nice price but shipping is insane. 4 times the value of the adapter to ship to europe
We also have them on eBay, much cheaper there than on our main site.
Never had a PSPgo, but I loved my Minidisc player
This along with the ps vita battery and back panel mod make the PSP go 10x better but you can't use the dock if you were lucky enough to get one of those but there is a cable that does the same thing. I think this nice for playing at home if you sync up a PS3 controller.
As cool as these solutions are, I get deterred away each time the flush cutters are brought out
imagine being obsessed with small bits of plastics that you never see anyway
@@Blehstor Yeah I agree, imagine being obsessed with small bits of plastic that you have to cut to make the mod fit in the case.
@@iaincowell9747 not all pieces of plastic are the same. small 1mm plastic that is inside the console and you literally never see again is not the same as a big chunk that is always visible..
if you dont want to do the mod why are you watching or complaining. the mods one of the easier considering theres no soldering. theyre modifying the console not connecting an official add on so youre gonna have to change things
The PSP Go was the last PSP to be released in the US. Europe received the PSP E-1000, which removed Wi-Fi capabilities and was more lightweight. The shell was matte black. It's a nice, little console.
PSP E-1000 is heavier than 3000 and feels like the first fat PSP 1000. E-1000 is the worst PSP you can get
@@numbazZifyI think it also removed stereo audio.
Stereo audio, wifi and maybe even video out were removed. The battery was made more of a pain to get to (because it's behind that big, clunky UMD door). I'd only want one if I could mod it to play downloads, then give it a cellphone battery mod.
It wasn't the last variation to be released. PSP street/E1000 released a year later.
It seems that Genius game mods ships to the Vatican, literally less than a kilometer from my house, but not to Italy, Rome. 😄
get one from the original creator who he didnt give credit to. aaamods
I'm surprised this took so long to come out. I've never had a PSP Go, but I own a PSP 1000, a PSP 2000, and a Vita. I modded the PSP's with a Memory Stick Duo to Micro SD years ago. My Vita has a Vita to SD adaptor as well.
this has been out for many years from the original designer aaamods. macho does poor research for his videos
Kewl that there is a new version of this mod out... more choices out there for people to purchase.
I hoped for a mod like this for a long time! Thank goodness!
I understand why Sony made MemoryStick but of course it was slow, expensive and capacity was always crap. I'm glad there's MemoryStick/M2 to SD adapters.
Exact why bother with this at all.
I could have swore they made adapters that pretty much act like a microSD card to full size SD card adapter except instead of it being full size SD card It's memory stick Pro due or whatever they're called.
They don't work on psp go. It uses a micro version of memory stick called "Memory Stick Micro"
@@Yodagamer1 TIL
Just placed an order for a piece. I have a white PSP Go with a Sony PS3 controller holder adapter. it's modded already and i haven't played it in years!
This will get me into playing my PSP games again! ^_^
good job supporting a well known scammer in the gaming community. Aaamods is the original designer and genius game mods just stole the design and copied it. They do that with lots of products they sell
About the slight bolge, I modified the adapter and soldered the sdcard directly to the ribbon cable tho.. I rather modified the adapter instead of modified the pspgo itself 😅 also about the 5-15 second delay when starting the console, it was a firmware mod that causes the delay you can tweak the firmware mod so it only gives you about 2-4 second delay, I never use infinity tbh 😊also I found out that SanDisk ultra A2 128gb works way better than samsung.. anyway. good video as always, tito 🎉
like that you shouted out blaine , ive used his videos to hack every console in my setup the mans a legend
I am currently looking for a mini disc rec/player I used to have in 99'. Those were the best!
I love mine it's just so cute 😊 Great video
As far as i can see this mod is just a simpe µSD to MemoryStick Adapter which are available for ages now attached to a Cable.
this mod is a must have! well done
0:12 the PSP GO was NOT the last variation. The PSP STREET was and it came out 2yrs after the GO
PSP Street is available only in Europe
We don’t talk about the psp street.
The slow load times always happen with any third party or modification to the memory, I remember when I had one of those SD to memory stick adapters for my standard PSP and it would also take forever to load the games
the psp is one of my favourite console lines of all time! such good memories of playing the 1000 when i was young and i now have a silly collection of them which my wallet doesn't approve of lol. great video as always, tito :)
