Vacation Rental Review - 23 Green Turtle Dr, Tan-Tar-A Estates

  • I have plenty of other tours on my channel from the Tan-Tar-A Estates, so I think you probably know the drill by now. But this house was pretty cool and I thought it warranted a video. Generally speaking, I'm less picky about hospitality standards with vacation rental properties. Things like residential-style bedding and slightly cluttered kitchens add more charm and don't cause any harm. While I think this house was a good value for what we paid, it needs some maintenance and cleanup. Removing some clutter, repainting some rooms, and replacing some of the furniture could seriously elevate this property for cheap.

I would TOTALLY stay there! I LOVE how 80's it is! My grandma had that same dryer, except it was gas. It worked well, but it almost caught fire from using dryer sheets for 30 years and not cleaning the vent... oh well still a REALLY cool place!!

4 Beds, 5 Baths, 2,606 sqft,This is an amazing home for a family or an investor. The house has been used an an investment property for the past 6 years, and has always had excellent results. Are you ready to make that dream investment and have a great place to bring the family for vacations, too? With the changes and upgrades at Tan Tar A Resort, this home is going to be a great place to own! Bring your clients to see a great property in the Estates.

That jacuzzi tub has to take easily one hundred gallons of water to fill up, maybe more! I love baths, especially jacuzzi baths but I wouldn't be taking a bath there frequently just because I wouldn't want to run up the owners' water bill. At least they have a capable water heater!

This house has to have been built in the mid late 70s. That was the height of jacuzzi installs.

@William Stonehocker I would say they went out of style in the mid to late 80s. I think a big reason was concerns about bacteria.

Very well-done video Jacob! I've been a long-time viewer of yours (since around mid 2009), and I'm actually former RUclipsr kokogarlic, but have not filmed any elevators in YEARS since I'm into other hobbies now. Your hotel/vacation rental tours are very detailed, and like you, I'm also a homeowner in the Ballwin/St. Louis county area, so I'm always noticing things like you do whenever I stay at vacation rentals/hotels etc (cleanliness wise and things that aren't done to code or that I would've done differently). They definitely built houses/buildings in general that were built to last back in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s than they do today. I love your videos at Tan Tar A, I've never stayed there myself since we have a summer cottage on Table Rock Lake, but it looks very nice despite the wear & tear. Keep up the great work on your videos man, and I hope you and your family are staying safe & healthy during this crazy COVID-19. :)

Each place you show us here is more impressive than the prior room. I do like this place. My guess is everyone would shower in the second bedroom on the main floor. I'd hang on the lowest. This place sure is cool. You can tell the most frequently used stuff is what's updated: TV's, kitchen appliances, etc. Just like you, I loved seeing that old dryer & printer.

From a scale of 1 to 10 I would give this a 9 out of 10 because it looks like a house but I have to take 1 star off because of the age

Jacob Loved the video but That furnace install is not up to code like at all Yikes!. What they need to do is just fabicate some duct work using some sheetmetal it doesn't look that hard to do. What a Lazy HVAC contractor. If I was staying there I would have brought a Plug in CO Detector that plugs into a outlet. Seeing that was like how the heck is that thing not setting off CO alarms. and I've got that same HP Deskjet 930C printer yeah they are old printers but they still work great.

TWO coffee makers? That's the high life Robin.

I get the impression they actually use the place and just rent it part time. My niece does that in Lake Tahoe. The good toaster oven is hiding in the owners closet. And they accidentally left out the good coffeemaker, or why there are 2 out. My niece leaves a lot of useful spices and things. If she's lucky they are still there when she gets there again.

Personally, the living room is way too exposing to me - considering the ceiling is high. Oh, and maybe the same in the Master. I just have a fear of being exposed to the openness - obviously the high ceilings. Sometimes I also don't like large unused space - this wasn't too big of a problem, maybe a few areas in the living room. Everything else was pretty fair, actually. I mean, the floor plan was very generous in the entire structure - even the bathroom setups made sense to me. In this kind of "dated furniture", I wouldn't care about it; I do tend to like dated every now and then.

That ceiling fan motor was actually an old Casablanca. Nice find!

Do you know when this house was built? Id say mid late 70s. Locked closet is where the owner stores their personal items. Has a Pocono vibe to it.

Pure death trap. Unsafe furnace, no smoke detector in the bedroom. Although the place does have some charm, it's not worth it, even at that price.

This house was owned by the Tan-Tar-A Resort (now Margaritiville Resort), so you won’t get all things as you would get in a normal vacation rental
