I have always enjoyed the Old Gods and their antagonistic presence in WoW much more than the Burning Legion. With the legion, sure you have giant marauding demon overlords that twist and taint all that they touch, headed by a world shattering Titan that could crush Azaroth in a single blow. But I will always find the unknowable horrors lurking in the dark places of the world, the maws that whisper mad things into your ears and the uncertainty that every action you take might not be your own, that you may just be a hollow puppet dangling on strings and all the terrors of the world are just next to you, by your ear, whispering, to be a much more terrible opponent than any demon lord.
im with you bro. they represent fear,an unknow horror, misterious and dark. i find it way more interesting for an ultimate enemy than the burning legion.
Have to agree, I love warcraft lore but I hate that the main antagonists are the demons, they're so one dimensional - they just like to see everything burn with felfire and sure sometimes they use manipulative tactics ( scarlet crusade, gul Dan as a whole) but overall they relay on brute strength, fel magic and fear to conquer and destroy, I liked the scourge because they were all one entity the lich king - a weapon which rebelled against his masters and which wants to destroy the world as vengeance for him being enslaved and tormented, while the old gods and their masters the void lords are not only mysterious and far more powerful than any demon, but also the main antagonist of the whole warcraft universe they're always in the shadows manipulating, making everyone mad just so that they can have some chaos to feed on. remember demons although working with sargeras to destroy the world are beings made of both the light and the void energies and many of the demons are just fel infused mortals with souls bound to the twisting nether to ensure their immortality.
+Jackob Gainey I'll look into that, I only play shaman and Hunter for now and nobbel hasn't made an episode about warlock weapons yet so I have no insight.
Well yeah the old gods and the void are basically the reason the Burning Legion exists, Sargeras is scared shitless of the old gods that's why he went insane. They're not treated like the main antagonists by the residents of azeroth but story-wise they, and more specifically the Void, are the main antagonists
When Magni awoke, what he thought was the soul of Azeroth speaking to him was probably an Old God. The Old God, impersonating as Azeroth, told Magni to gather the pillars since it would stop the legion, but using them against the legion would also break the chains of the Old Gods' prisons.
That's probably what's going to happen... Either that, or using the pillard doesn,t stop the legion AT ALL and just sets the Old Ones free. Then we Join the Legion before the CTHULHUSPAWN KILL US ALL! Actually, if the priest weapon is to be believed, the old gods need us for something. The Curse of Flesh is part of a greater plan that involves them and the Naaru, soooooo...
That or it WAS Azeroth, and she's completely turned due to the Old Gods' corruption. Oh jeez that'd be even worse. One of the whispers sounded like the old gods had a *leader*.... edit: No no, that references a male. ""Flesh is his gift. He is your true creator."" so it can't be Azeroth, who is described as female. Hmm.
So, here's a little tip about "With her third death" thing. High Magistrix Elisande in the Nighthold raid has a very interesting mechanic. She turns back time twice when you kill her, making you start fighting her again with new mechanics. The third time you kill her, she stays dead for good. You MUST do this to get the final Pillar of Creation, so it's possible that ehr final death is the key moment, when we obtain the last relic and unintentionally usher N'zoth into the world.
I freaking love all the comments so far. Wrathion being the boy king makes sense when it comes to drawing power from the earth and offering lies, but calling him king seems very odd. Elisande was something I heard mentioning before, but as far as I'm told, she resets time before she truly dies. Azeroth's death with the third legion invasion...I dunno...Azeroth never seemed to have died, just beat up pretty badly. Loving the speculation, truly blessed with so many amazing viewers. Rock on lore nerds
Question: The Old Gods were sent out by the Void Lords to corrupt planets in order to destroy potential Titan Spirits within them, correct? If that's the case wouldn't the goals of the Legion and the Old Gods be the same? Perhaps that's why, as many others are speculating, the Old Gods tricked us into getting the Pillars of Creation in order to summon Sargeras to the planet and/or release the Old Gods from their prisons. Seems like a pretty evil truce
they want to corrupt the sleeping titans not destroy them..turn them dark titans to serve the shadow. read the chapter called "the will of the void" in the Warcraft Chronicles volume 1
From what I understand of the lore, the Burning Legion was created because of Sargeras' fear of a corrupted titan soul, so he vowed to destroy everything because he did not believe that the titans way of saving everything was plausible, and he would rather have a universe void of all life rather than an imprisoned universe controlled by the void lords with the power of a corrupted titan spirit. Sargeras' goal is to destroy the titan spirit inside Azeroth, whereas the Old Gods want to corrupt her so she can serve the Void Lords, so I don't see how the two sides could be working together, unless the Old Gods somehow gave up their allegiance to the Void Lords or something crazy like that happens; unless I'm wrong about the lore though, then it's a completely different story.
The third death could be Helya. she died once when turned into a valkyr perhaps a second time when she turned into what she is now, then the third time is when we kill her. This could also connect to another whisper because if she dies then presumably Odyn (Perhaps the lord of ravens) is freed from the halls of valor. Helya could also maybe be the cratered heart that has been filled by the old gods.
Or it could be Azeroth, "death" could mean Legion invasion. This is the 3rd Legion invasion during which we accidentally unleash N'Zoth, that makes sense too.
Badass? On what? They are not powerful, I mean they always depend on their minions to do something and they can merely put a fight against anyone. Even before they were imprisoned they always depend on their minions to do their dirty work like defeat the *Elemental Lords* and fight the *Titans Keepers*. Seriously I see a lot of people overestimating the Old God's power even to the point of Pantheon Titan levels. Anyone with a little bit of common sense would know Old Gods are really powerful but they are nothing compare to the big shots like *Sargeras, Kil'jaeden*, the *Legion* and the *Pantheon Titans*. I honestly think Kil'jaeden, *Archimonde*, and even *Algalon* are stronger that a Old God and they are nothing compare to pantheon level Titans and Sargeras.
The Old Gods could not control the Elementals Lords, they slave them because their minions defeat them with their huge-numbers and *Deathwing* was never under the Old Gods control, he decide to work with them with his own freewill to serve them as the inner-voices of the Old Gods convinced him that he could have power beyond his imagination if he served them when he could decide to ignore them but nope, he follow them. Mind Control is a ability to control someone else will but anyone who work for the Old Gods show that they are in total control with their own action including Deathwing. The fact that Deathwing during his conversation with *Thrall* when Thrall was going to become the new Earth-Warder, Deathwing admitted that he served the Old Gods largely because he believed that they would free him from this burden and that clearing show that the Old Gods have not control on anyone.
If the Old Gods could control anyone why they not stop the "Heroes" aka the player during their fight with them? Or prevent their imprisoned? Old Gods have been whispering to the sub-consciousness of mortal and eternal beings alike, urge them to do dark, terrible things. The Old Gods encountered by adventurers to date have whispered to them throughout the fights imploring the heroes of Azeroth to turn on their allies and give in to loneliness and despair but with not effect showing that the Old Gods have not power over someone minds. Nevertheless the Old Gods are neither omniscient nor omnipotent otherwise, of course, the Old Gods could not have been imprisoned. The reasons why some of you people say Old Gods are the strongest or badass when they clearly are not is because *A Big Lovecraft fans* or *B You people like the style of the Old Gods or you people find them more interesting that the other antagonists*. The fact that the Old Gods could not put a fight against anyone is a statement that the Old Gods are weak against anyone and all they can do is send their pointless whispering to convince others to do bad thing to others.
Either way the Old Gods and the Void Lords are complete pointless villains since they come out of nowhere and they have very, very little lore and story. The Legion have huge lore and story since the first Warcraft so why Blizzard bother to make the Old Gods and the Void Lords?
well before chronicles (which is what most people remember) the old gods 1v1 were stronger than a Titan. Unless it was like sargeras or one of the stronger ones. but since the retcon of that info old gods are not strong just evil as shit minions of void lords. void lords however are the new Uber powerful beings that could probably fuck up a Titan with ease.
tommyha3k Everything we know about the Old Gods before Chronicle was base of speculation and not fact. Like you said *probably* fuck up a Titan with a ease but Chronicle reveal hat the Void Lord are jealous of the Titan's powers but it is never stated that they are more powerful than Titan. Yes, they made Sageras fear but chronicle made it very clear that Sargeras is fearing the possibility of 'Void-Titans'. Because void-corrupted titan would be evil, and they would become much more powerful than normal titans. Basically Sargeras is mad when he realized that even a Titan could be corrupted, and then he started to think 'the universe itself is flawed'. That's why he want to destroy everything. Because it is the concept of 'corruption' itself that made he feared. He want to recreate the universe to be a 'corruption-immunity' universe. It's not that 'Oh the Void Lords are so powerful, I'm scared! I will kill all and suicide before they kill us!' And for the Void Lord side, they actually envy the power of the Titans. So basically the Void Lords can't even corrupt a real titan, they had to do it before a titan birthed. The Void Lords could still be very powerful, but there is nowhere in the Chronicle hinted they are even more powerful than the Titans. Also the Pantheon believed Azeroth-Titan alone could defeat the Voidlord which it sound very too farfetch.
The legion didnt even exist in the first warcraft it was a god loving humans vs satan loving orcs also Y'shaarj actually near beat the titankeepers on his own thats why the leader of the titans Aman'thul had to personally crush him.
what do you think of the new lore btw? I personally liked it better before. I kinda dident like how they created such a power disparity between all the beings. like how sargeras just goes and kills the pantheon like it's nothing then even then fears the void so much that wants to rewrite the universe. I liked it a little better when all the forces( narru, titans, old gods, and the collective army of demons.) where more or less equal in power and all fighting for control that just balanced out.
I don't think the Boy-king is Anduin at all, it's too easy. I think it's Wrathion, he's straight up told us that he shouldn't be trusted , he's done a lot of shady shit in the name of a greater good and it could be that he is in danger of falling to the same old god corruption as his dad
He is, or atleast was, the last black dragon alive. He is young in Dragon Years and could be seen as a "Prince" of the Black Dragonflight. Just something to consider though. dunno if thats true or not
I think "To find him, drown yourself in a circle of stars" bit means the Maelstrom, since N'Zoth seems to be the old god of interest right now. If you think about it, Northrend, Pandaria, Kalimdor, and Eastern Kingdoms are all part of the original continent Kalimdor, which, when translated from Titan-speak, means "Land of Eternal Starlight". When you go to the Maelstrom, you are surrounded by a "circle of stars/starlight".
Great theory man....I wonder what happens if old gods take pillars of creation after khadgar uses them to close the portal. Fromm al whispers it is possible and from what i know we will need to fight to close it since it is kind of a legion strong holds. In that case old gods would use legion and magnni to make us dig the pillars and then banish the legion aka only threat to them and also in a way used legion against us to weaken us with a big fight so they may take the pillars more easily it sounds like ther kind of job...Using others to do their jobs...
Well u do jump into the maelstorm when u are to get the doom hammer for the shaman questions and to recruit the earthen elemental Lord the earth mother of the efforts .
I think it would be an amazing twist if at the end of the Tomb of Sargeras raid/scenario/whatever when we use the pillars to seal the portal it is suddenly revealed that it was all just manipulated by N'zoth to get himself released.
Would confirm the old 4Chan leak: Pillars are used against Kil'Jaeden and the demon armies at the end of the raid, but suddenly from the surrounding sea the faceless swarm up, absorbing the immense energy of the demonic portals, and empowering themselves and N'Zoth. This finally gives N'Zoth enough energy to break free, and he sends out a tentacle, grabs Kil'Jaeden and devours him. We are forced to leave our artifacts behind to distract the Faceless as we escape the tomb. This would make a decent amount of sense aswell considering the whispers from the Shadow Priest artifact during different dungeons and in parts of Val'Sharah/Aszuna.
That wouldn't make any sense lmao. How would random faceless just pop up and "absorb" the power, that would be really silly. I think the pillars will just send shock-waves around when used as they have been used to shape the world and can probably be used to un-shape it. And we have seen them do that, the Tidestone shattered and cursed all of Azsuna and the Hammer of Khaz'Goroth almost destroyed all of Highmountain. They obviously have massive power within them and could easily cause enough destruction to destroy N'Zoth's prison if used incorrectly. That would also cause Azeroth to "die" and third time, making one of the whispers make sense.
the last time we broke the portal the Legion was using it sundered azeroth and fractured the old gods prisons now we are using something much stronger to destroy a much stronger portal. chances are there will be another "sundering" freeing the old gods. also it would free them all would it not. I think it was described that we never killed yogg saron. just re-imprisoned him.
''Her heart is a crater, and we have filled it'' He could be talking about Alexstrasza, since she must be hearth broken after the events of Val'Sharah. The old gods used Deathwing to destroy us, so why wouldn't they try to corrupt the goddess of life to bring back Galakrond ? Even the Legion would bow before him
yeah, the aspects weren't aspects when they killed galakrond, they where gifted their powers after killing him. and the dragons are relatively powerless right now... maybe the black prince has found some new powers and is another corrupted earth warder, its get to be seen.
That's a bit of a stretch. Alextrasza hasn't even been mentioned since cataclysm, I don't think they'll be going for her. It's probably Jaina, but most probably Azeroth herself since the Maelstrom is close enough to a crater, and the Old Gods would not care about some human, or some dragon. Azeroth is their prize, and corrupting her is their goal.
+AlexadoFeel but it Will not be the exact same as before, if is bring to life it will be more powerfull as for alez giving him of their own power in the process, and a bonus give by old gods. It not need yo be a world destoyer, but it can easy make a raid between tiers. An anormal gigant dragón OP, is a treat to a world Where is a legión invasión happening at the moment.
I noticed in some video here on RUclips that only has like... 174 views, that if you turn the ambience all the way up and remove everything else, on The Broken Shore, you will hear whispers. The whispers are completely incoherent, but some of the most pronounced whispers sound like they're backwards. So i recorded it and reversed the sound track, which made it make more sense. Most of it is still incoherent, but some of the aforementioned pronounced whispers sound like either "You will drown" or "You will die", and there's another passage that includes something with "your soul"... very interesting indeed. Sounds to me like we're going to see N'Zoth soon.
It would also remove the one uncorrupted black dragon. He already made hundreds of lives void with the whole Iron Horde scenario. Why not pile on a few more?
I dunno, Blizz seems to be trying to remove Wrathion, Ebonhorn (The Black Dragon in Highmountain) was Wrathion in beta, having Ebonhorn in highmountain also retcons the whole last uncorrupt dragon thing Wrathion had going for him.
I'm behind this idea mainly because Wrathion, through his actions to protect Azeroth, has unwittingly only made things worse. He was the one, along with Kairoz, who schemed to break out Garrosh and send him to an alternate universe to make the Iron Horde. To power the Red Portal and invade our Azeroth, The Iron Horde used their Gul'dan as one of the components to power it. The Gul'dan we freed in order to close it. The Gul'dan who escaped into our Azeroth. The Gul'dan who then brought The Legion once more to Azeroth's doorstep... Nice job Wrathion :V
The Gul'dan who has the 5th and final Pillar. The Final Pillar which will be the cause of whatever this whisper is referring to. Wrathion spoke of the Legion coming, but did he know what was coming next? Perhaps HE truly wanted us prepared for the Legion but perhaps he was blinded by the Old God who had corrupted his father to see only what N'Zoth wanted us see.
Sargeras "Went mad" because he realized that many World Souls and planets had already been corrupted beyond repair by the Void Lords and their Old Gods, and that was what (According to chronicles) set him on this path of universal destruction. So, in reality, his wish is to destroy all planets in an attempt to cleanse the universe of the void. At least, that is my understanding. Previously we thought he was perhaps corrupted by some ancient archdemons or the Nathrezim, but that's not the case. He didn't go mad as much as he grew angry that the other titans shamed him for doing what had to be done. So, what if the World Soul (Her heart is a crater, we have filled it) of Azeroth is indeed already leaning towards corruption and the Old Gods are threatening to break loose, eventually unleashing a Void Titan? If Sargeras' cause is to prevent this, it actually makes sense. His cruelty and brutality is not without reason. He's willing to sacrifice everything to prevent the Void from winning the "Eternal Conflict". (References by Xal'Atath.) He knows that we, the corrupted races of Azeroth, will eventually be the ones to deliver the universe to the Void Lords by giving them Azeroth, and thus it's absolutely vital that it be destroyed. The Old Gods have orchestrated everything up to this point, and The Light in the form of titans, keepers and Naaru are unwilling to sacrifice Azeroth to prevent The Void from winning. On the Broken Shore, we find an old friend. An old, decrepit Warlock who tells us that the Legion is not our enemy, hinting that their march on Azeroth is not without purpose. Then he tells us of darker things, before somethings eeks to take a hold of him and use him as a puppet. That then sets us out on a journey across the Broken Isles that eventually leads to us unleashing an ancient, forgotten and terrible evil. Perhaps we was right? Perhaps we have been blinded by the light on our crusade against the forces of destruction and chaos that we haven't seen the abyssal chasm opening, threatening to swallow us all if we continue on our, supposedly righteous, path?
[SPARE] Sargeras? Challenge accepted. As I understand, The Twisting Nether, where Demons come from, is product of Light and Shadow colliding violently. If this is true, then all Demons, including SArgeras, must have a small amount of The Light in them, somewhere deepinside their twisted black hearts. Perhaps demons can be redeemed? Is that even a possibility? What happens when a demon questions what he is doing? The Illidari and basically demonic, and yet they fight against The Legion. Wasn't a freaking "holy dreadlord" leaked a while ago even? If indeed, Azeroth is rotten to the core and her nascent Titan is already lost to us, what would happen next?
There are a number of Nathrezim, infused by Light, including Lothraxion. What make me grind my gears is one of his Quotes: "The Light purifies everything". I found this on wowpedia, think about it: There is evidence that some demons can be redeemed from their demonic forms into who they originally were. While there has long been speculation on this topic-such as using the blessings of the Light to perform a painful exorcism-one recorded example of complete demonic redemption exists: the satyr Avrus Illwhisper. After assisting the player in curing a sick girl in Astranaar as a toll, Avrus was purged of his demonic shell by Elune's blessing and became Avrus the Redeemed. Based on Avrus' experience, it seems possible that someone who is truly repentant and is willing to earn a powerful enough blessing can regain mortality even after corruption.
But we don't know if the rule applies on titans too, they are "akin to gods, so perfect and majestic", superior creatures, has to be seen if sargeras can be redeemed (considering his corruption was not a true one, he's sure that he's doing the right thing to save everything)
A possible future: "From the earth, he draws strength. Our earth. Our strength." As a diamond Magni was one with the earth so he unwillingly listen to the old gods whispers. "The king of diamonds has been made a pawn". That means Magni serves the old gods.He tells us to find the pillars and stop the Legion because the old gods want to corrupt the titan spirit and if the demons destroy Azeroth the spirit will die."The Lord of Ravens will turn the key."" Khadgar will use the pillars to shut the portal after we defeat the demons in the tomb and by doing it he will also somehow free the old gods. That will lead to the next expansion where we have to deal with the freed old gods.
Let'S brake it down, shall I? 1. "He serves at the table" Why table? that's quite an unusual phrase. Unless of course he is preparing food for them. Also some notes from Archaeology: There is an achievement The Boy Who Would be King which goes around the story of Emperor Ninjter, which sounds similar as Nye-netyer, which means 'belonging to God'. I don't think it have something to do with it, but I'm putting it here anyway. With the real who is the boy-king, Anduin is out- he has all Light stuff going for him, Bolvar is out- he is LK and therefore immune to OGs; so my money goes on Wrathion (he has a dragon model in Legion, not sure if it's in game, but it is in Datas), since he is the closest thing I can think of that could be refered as boy-king. But it my also be new Legion character, I'm going over all who are helping us with the pillars. 2., 3. These are obvious, referring to Magni and pillars 4. "He draws power" but who is He? He must draw power from earth, so again Wrathion as the "last" Blak Dragon or our beloved Earth-warden Thrall. 5. Lord of Ravens huh? I'm going to say it's not Odin, Odin has two ravens in Norse mythology, but in WoW he doesn't seem to have any connection with them. Ravencrest is just stupid idea. Another idea would be Anzu - The Raven Lord/God. But in this case I think it's pretty clear it's Khadgar. 6. So Jaina is a Dreadlord corrupted by the Old Gods? Really? It think in this case "her" is Azeroth, don't you remember where Xavius fell in his tree form?, don't you remember where we threw Deathwing? To the Maelstrom of course. Another possibility is Alex, with all things happening, dragon losing powers, dragons dying and mostly deathof Ysera, she may have quite a crater in her hearth. 7. This one is really interesting,c because Sylvanas and Helia are go to options here, but trying to find someone else, who would fit, is hard. But death doesn't need to mean literately death, it may be just some terrible loss that makes you feel death : Alex - as said before she is in bad shape right now and she was once before when the orcs killed her children and her beloved; Azshara - she was granted power by the old gods, and we can count her transformation into naga as one death, but not much else; Maiev and Jaina - both suffered big, terrible losses (Jaina more so then Maiev) and they play big part in the story so maybe. 8. well Ny'alotha, fuck yeah! 9. Circle of stars? Court of Stars and Night well are just bad ides. My personal favorite is Well of Eternity or what's left of it.
"her" is referring to grand magister elistrex. You kill her three time during her encounter while fighting her at the circle of stars and after you kill her theres some dialogue (not gonna spoil) Then you take the fifth pillar and khadgar activates it and the lord of ravens is referring to khadgar
Alternate theory that makes sense to me: The boy king telling 3 lies could also refer to Wrathion, as he is technically the leader of the black dragonflight now given that he was the last known member of it. He has offered the players help 3 times, and the only reason we trust him is we think he is free of the old god corruption. He is also who set WoD in motion by getting Kairoz and Chromie to help Garrosh escape.
I always love things like this, hidden in the game. it makes it mysterious and just creates endless possibilities! I was doing the Emerald Nightmare with my guild and heard these whispers wondering if there was more. Thank you for making this Nobbel!
I'm really baffled you didn't go more into ""Flesh is his gift. He is your true creator."" Umm, A LEADER OF THE OLD GODS?! Kind of a big one, there. Would this be a "void lord", or *something bigger?* I mean "He is your true creator". Did HE create the light and the void? And his name is... *GREEN JESUS!!!* * he appears in a flash of light * Thrall: Yes my son, I only came down to Azeroth and wrote this story to teach you all a lesson in uniting against great threats. Old Gods, Demons, Pandas, together you withstood them all. Now I must go, my planet needs me.
Didn't go into it because it's kinda old and known lore. Flesh is his gift = the curse of flesh placed upon the titan creations by the old gods to weaken them and make them more vulnerable to their corruption which makes most current races their creation. All hail Green Jesus blessed be his name.
Ny'alotha could be the Old Good Name for Nazjatar or vice versa. It is the Capital of the Naga and was built in The Rift (Maelstrom). It is known, that The Rift is connected to the Rift of Aln within the Emerald Dream. The Prison of N'zoth is probably there, which would explain his Influence on the Dream/Nightmare.
Alexstrazsa's heart was "a crater" when Korialstrasz died. Thrall came and filled it with hope. Before that, maybe the Old Gods tried to kill her in Desolace to bring the Hour of Twilight. Then they planted a seed of corruption in the dragonqueen's heart. Most of the corruption was destroyed by Thrall, but maybe a little remains
NOBBLE I HAVE SOMETHING TO ADD HOPEFULLY YOU SEE THIS: After I killed Xavius I was exploring the emerald dream. There is a cave with a flower that is marked "remnant of the void" or something of that nature. Once I clicked on it Xal'atath (i'm a shadow priest) said something along the lines of "With his absence the final prison weakens" i believe she mentioned something "under the waves" but that could be confirmation bias after watching this video. (Also Ysera's spirit and the spirits of the wild gods are in the dream. Ysera's spirit walks out of the cave with the flower)
"Almost completely gone, as if it never existed. But the Rift is deep and vast, and somewhere down there it stirs. Something has changed, the last prison weakens. We must prepare." Just looked up the quote, this is it exactly as it appears in game and it's voice acted.
n'zoth out? well, last time when he was in, he made deathwing who fucking almost destroyed azeroth. if he will be out, i guess he would just mind control the entire world.
drown yourself in the circle of stars, could he maybe be refering to velen and the dranei going back to argus? with stars as in space? to find kil'jaden? or maybe it is something to do with night elves probably something with elune? also it sounds a lot like if/when we seal the tomb, we lock the legion away but open the way for the old gods. perhaps the passage way to ny'alotha is under the tomb of sargares and maybe collapse under our feets? also could the one who definetly seems to be anduin maybe refer to wrathion though he is refered as the black prince?
Well, thats not true. There are quite a few corrupted black dragons left, in Outland, along with ANOTHER uncorrupted one, being Ebyssian, in Highmountain. So he could very well fit into the theory, and seemingly fits better than Anduin.
Deathwing was no king tho. I find it more likely that Wrathion becomes king of the black empire because of his desert theme, and the black empire has ties to the old gods
Great theories, after doing him in the nightmare I started doing research as well. I had come to most of these conclusions and its nice to see you get there as well
"The nightmare corpse-city of R'lyeh…was built in measureless eons behind history by the vast, loathsome shapes that seeped down from the dark stars. There lay great Cthulhu and his hordes, hidden in green slimy vaults." Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn:
I mean, it COULD be just a raid tier this expansion. Yogg Saron and C'Thun were both relegated to only 1 raid tier (though in C'Thun's place it wasn't it's own separate tier) with no entire expansion focused on them. Y'shaaj kinda had an expansion focused on him as most of the shit that happened in Pandaria was by his corruption, even so long after death. I could see it go either way, and there's still 1 raid tier we don't know about yet, and I doubt they're only going to do 2 tiers again like in WoD as I would expect they're trying to fix the problems with WoD. For all we know Ny'Alotha may be the replacement for Thal'Dranath, as Blizzard did claim the replacement they had in mind for it would be "much cooler" than another Elf city.
More than anything, I have wanted an expansion devoted to the Old Gods. I assumed it would come before one that meant to end the game with Sargeras/Titans as the final one. Here's hoping.
i imagine with wow being more lore heavy as of late that channels like nobbel's will get a massive boom in views. anyway amazing video nobbel, you are the man when it comes to lore.
"But there is a yawning chasm of darkness beneath you mortals. Vast, endless and all consuming. I do not believe you can correct this doomed course" What did he mean by this?
Calling it now: Current expansion: Kill Sargeras - Beat the Legion Next expansion: Destroy the Old Gods - Go to Nya'lotha Final expansion: Beat the Void Lords That's like, 9 years of content and a great way to finish the story.
We might face an avatar of Sargeras, but we aren't going to beat his actual form up. I doubt if the real thing appeared we'd be able to dent his little toenail. Would be cool if somehow Azeroth woke up and smacked him in the face.
Maybe it's a hint for the next expansion. In the end of this expantion we use the pillars of creation to close the gate way. But in the process we also weaken the old gods prison. And that takes us into the next expantion.
binge watching your videos at 4 in the morning while pouring liquid bandages all over my hands. i am not entirely sane when it's after midnight. my hand hurts
i speculated before legion started that during legion we'd find nyolotha, and that it'd be the next expantion's "continent".. it'd be a massive underwater city (inside would only be partly flooded) with several floors and path ways to fight going deeper and deeper into its heart. the floors/pathways would be the different "zones", but all would phase across a story (so you could take one path and still see results of the other paths progressing at the same time, and wouldbe able to progress the overall story from any floor.. making the replay strong as what path you start on would change your overall experiance) dungeons, raids, and bgs/arenas would all be different "rooms" within the city, each holding their own twist of madness throughout their halls.. in the case of dungeons/raids, those probably be on a bosd to boss basis (though i'd like to see a dungeon based on whimsyshire from Diablo 3, cuz that'd be funny and could fit the madness theme. hell, they could make several dungeons based on other blizzard games. that'd be cool).. bgs/arenas might randomly change their cosmetics, teleport players at random, or even spawn mobs (or even a boss/miniboss to interrupt the pvp) randomly.. i'd even say they could gate off max level behind a few patches for expanding story, so you'd have to lvl a few before going into harder dungoeons.. kind of a "you cant level up too fast for madness sake" thing
that sounds insane (no pun intended) i mean it seems awesome to have a giant city like that but i mean blizzard already turned down the emerald dream for a lack of variety and i can't blame them for it
but see, there wouldnt be a lack of variaty in my idea as the "insanity" could cause illusions in some areas giving the section of the city the appearance of being a forest or nountains or whatever... thats the beauty of it all.
When I first heard the whisper about the boy King, I immediately thought of Anduin....but the rest didn't add up. Then I wondered if he could be referring to Arthus. As a frost dk wielding the remnants of Frostmourne, I have spoken with the ghost of Arthus throughout the leveling zones. What do you guys think?
The boy king could be wrathion. The third death is probably azeroth itself ( first death sundering, second is cataclysm, and with the third the old gods come)
I personally think that "Drown yourself in the Circle of Stars" refers to the Maelstrom. 1. The Well of Eternity was the Center of Kalimdor ("Land of eternal STARLIGHT) and not only made to seal the wound caused by ripping one of the Old Gods from the planet in the first place, but also would've been the entrance point of the Old Gods during the War of the Ancients (see War of the Ancients Book 3) if not for Malfurion and Nozdormu. Now That Kalimdor is burst apart, its pieces line up into a circular shape around the Maelstrom with the broken isles (and therefore the new legion portal where the Raven Lord (obviously Khadgar) will turn the key. 2. When Azshara and her Minions where drawn into the Well after its collapse (War of the Ancients Books again), some Old God Presence offered her a chance for survival, turning her and her followers into the Naga. This makes me suggest there still is some Old God Presence at the Maelstrom or the Presence of the existing Old Gods is reaching far enough to use their immense Power at the Maelstrom. 3. Ny'alotha is probably the sunken city of Zin'Azshari at the Maelstrom. Ny'alotha is clearly a a reference to Nyarlathothep in the Lovecraft Mythos, commonly referred to as the "Crawling Chaos" - know what else is crawling? Right, Naga! - but also pictured as an egyptian pharaoh, who was a God-King same as Queen Azshara. This is also fortified by the Xal'atath whisper stating that "This City of Elves (refering to Suramar) pales in comparison to the sleeping city", hinting that Ny'alotha could also be a "City of Elves". This is further fortified if you compare Ny'alotha to R'yleh, the sunken city of the Cthulhu Mythos, where "He lays dreaming" (the great Cthulhu), which is located in the pacific and therefore between the two big continents of the world, asia and america, same as the Maelstrom. This would also hint that there is something trapped or asleep in Ny'alotha (same as Cthulhu in R'yleh) which will awaken when the time is right. Conclusion: "Drown yourself in the Circle of Stars" refers to us diving into the Maelstrom - Naga/Old Gods XPac confirmed!
terrozer Lengend i said the echo of medivh but for all we know medivh might be alive his mother agewynn ressurected him and he appeared in warcraft 3 and the dissapeared so except the medan comic we dont know if he is dead or alive or in between
Magni is a pawn and we are serching for the pillars because of him, the pillars are used to open the prison of N'Zoth and Khadgar (the ravens) will unknowingly open the prison of an Old godand for the first time we will have a full Old God to deal with in teh next expansion ... where else can we go after the largest Legion invasion? A full Old god could be the perfect answer and the Fanservice Exp 2.0 after Legion (they pulled all the stops in the Lore for Legion they appealed to fans on practically every level, it would make sense to do it again with a big Old God/Titan expansion, now we get Karazhan, int he next Expansion we get Ulduar aka the 2 fan fav raids) and we get an actual Dark Below expansion with Azshara and ultimately the full N'Zoth (noth the puny images we dealt with in Yogg and C'Thun), when u think of how to fanservice wow fans a Legion exp and a Dark Below exp are at the very top of the list
I think Wrathion could be the boy king. He is a lot younger than Anduin, identified as a prince in MoP, and has lied to us before. Also what about Genn Greymane? Gilneas is the city of Ravens and he is hellbent on revenge against Sylvanas. If her third death ushers the Old Gods in and Gen (assuming he is the Lord of ravens) kills her that could be the final key in a way I guess
Revenge seems like the kind of thing the old gods could twist and manipulate someone with. Also the old Gods may refer to Magni as a pawn because he serves Azeroth now and they don't like that/view him as a pawn. One final question, the ear5h thing, could that be talking about Thrall? Maybe that is why he can't use the elements. If the old Gods filled the maelstrom within corruption range.
+Jacob Gainey Y'sharjj's thing is using your emotions against you, and the maelstrom is his hole. Maybe Thrall suffers from doubt, doubt about is choices as warchief, and a father. About his choice of Garrosh as warchief, and if he did the right thing in killing him (when he lost his powers); Garrosh even attacks his choices "You made me warchief. You left me to pick up your pieces."
For some reason I feel like the Naaru Prime is going to end up sacrificing itself to purify Azeroth, and somehow Illidan will be involved. Sargeras is apeshit strong and we have no chance of beating him, but if the Void Lords and infect a planet with a World Soul and create some unspeakably strong dark being, could the Naaru do the same, but with Light?
Huge 7.1 Spoilers He returns in 7.1 and helps us clear the tower, calls Khadgar "Young Trust" again and names him "guardian" in an emotional way (which means not a real one) for his heart and courage. Check Wowhead's channel for voice files. There are 7 instances of Medivh in 7.1 One called "Shade of Medivh" for boss encounter One called "Image of Medivh" for probably the chess event And FIVE called "Medivh" - only Medivh, no shade echo or whatsoever. That is another suggestion that he will be back. It is still not confirmed though but it is obvious to see looking at his and Khadgar's voice files.
Yogg-Saron has told us a few other correct things too via the puzzle box. Namely, Xavius was still alive. "Did you have the dream again? The black goat watches from the outside." Saytrs have goat-like feature, I think Xavius is the only one I've seen that's black, so he could be "The Black Goat." Then add "Did you have the dream again?" Xavius' connection to the Emerald Dream (And the Old Gods.) makes it seem likely that Yogg-Saron was talking about Xavius being around and biding his time. It occurs to me that "the boy king" could be referring to Wrathion as well, he is still a whelp even though his human form is a man, and it could be the cleansing of corruption is a treatment for the black dragons' madness not a cure. He has also been a part of two legendary quests, both of them he says are for us but kinda seem to be self serving, one more legendary quest chain like that and we have our "Three lies." It seems unlikely that Anduin is the boy king given the comic showing him and Velen about to launch some final assault against some evil many decades after where we are currently, plus I think he is an adult by now, young but an adult. Unless he gets cursed like Khadgar and the assault not as far away as we think it is probably not Anduin. Another possibility if it is Anduin is he's not aware what he is doing helps the Old Gods and if he believes the three lies that are offered. It could also be Moira's son, last we checked he is still a baby, but that was years ago, I'm sure even with dwarves living slightly longer than humans he'd be past the baby stage now, sure he'd not have the throne yet, with Magni not returning to the throne, Moira's son is the rightful king of Ironforge, and the dark irons do have some history with the Old Gods and Twilight's Hammer. I noticed something in the room for the Pillars of Creation. There are six display pedestals, but only five Pillars of Creation, so what is going to be on display on that sixth pedestal? Thrall is literally underground right now and has lost his way. Deathwing became corrupted from Old God whispers he was vulnerable to from spending so much time underground. Speaking of Deathwing, when he died he kinda got sucked into the same sinkhole as the Well of Eternity, could he have been resurrected by his corpse soaking in water with that kind of absurd power? "The Lord of Ravens" could also be Medivh, he went quite ever since WCIII but to my knowledge he's only died the one time. He might return in that Karazhan patch. It could be just crazy talk. But remember that trailer? Moroes said "The master WILL returrn, soon." him specifying a timeframe of Medivh coming back makes me think that is Blizz hinting at what's to come. But if Medivh does not come back then Khadgar is almost definitely who does it. It seems unlikely that it's Sylvannas, like you said she's aleady died three times. Plus they JUST killed off Vol'jin, they don't even have a replacement leader for him, the orcs only have kind of a placeholder leader right now. Ji Firepaw doesn't even live with the rest of the Huojin, he went back to the turtle apparently (After what happened, can you blame him?) Gallywix isn't really royalty, he's just the richest goblin, and since he tried to enslave a lot of the goblins I doubt most of them still follow him. (Hell in a way goblin players are more of the faction leader since you are they are the one who lead the goblins to the Horde.) give the Horde a break before you kill off more of the leaders, all but three Horde leaders are more representatives than actual leaders. It could be things to come in the future, and whoever this "she" is has not died yet or even died only once. Could also be Sally Whitemane, she died in Vanilla, died again in MoP, and is back again in Legion as a DK. Could also not be a literal death, could also be a figurative death, a death on the inside, if Jaina does go all Old God friendly, she's definitely had at least two figurative deaths, one of them being Theramore, the second being harder to pinpoint, but probably one of two things, either when the Horde betrayed Dalaran's neutrality, or she was probably feeling rejected early Legion when all the Alliance leaders (Except Genn) brushed off her ideas for avenging Varrian and then was even chased out of her own city. (I mean they begged her to stay, but she did say she would not stick around if they voted to let the Horde into Dalaran and they did it anyway.) one more heavy hit emotionally could send her spiraling down to serving the Old Gods.
This may have been mentioned already, but there is an item (also from archaeology, in Legion) that allows you to draw a literal circle of stars. It is called the starlight beacon. So far I've only tried drowning myself with it in the small area of Suramar that allows you to be on a spectral flying mount, and didn't get anything. Open to trying out other locations if there's any good suggestions!
Just found your channel, been looking for loads of lore videos after my returning interest in warcraft because of Legion, and then I find out you are Dutch as well! :D THats awesome, keep it up bro!
Here's my view on it: Since Argus is huge, a real fucking planet and everything, we won't go there at the end of Legion. Instead, we'll seal the rift, and accidentally release N'zoth. Afterwards, Ny'alotha, and a whole bunch of crap, probably Abyssal Maw, maybe Naz'jatar, and the endboss of Legion is N'zoth himself. Afterwards, we've cleaned Azeroth up, we're ready to hit the Legion where it hurts. We go to Argus, where we get the leveling zones and everything, and THEN we get the endboss of Kil'Jaedan or Archimond, and kill 'em for good
+Kurasa Twentyfive (Kurasa25) the legion has been a constant threat throughout warcrafts history, so technically we've fought demons 6 expansions in a row so far
Yrahcaz01 yes thats right but in wotlk, pandaria or cataclysm no player was like "hell yeah demons". we didnt even think about demons in those expansions even if there were mentions here and there. wotlk was undead, cata was dragons and pandaria was china. wod started off as orcs but ended up being a demon expansion. legion is obviously a demon expac and i really hope the next one wont be.
My bet too. Anyway, it's clear that there's someone pretending to be a good guy while is not: Magni, Jaina, Anduin, Azeroth itself, Wrathion, Bolvar, Sylvanas, Alexstrasza or even khadgar... Someone is working for the old gods in secret.
Nobbel, I gotta 2 things (I think you know anyways): 1) "Azeroth will fall within the 3rd Legion invasion", why not? Could we have an apocalyptic expansion? The reason I say that, is because of Emerald Dream; aren't we avoiding it to be corrupted to use it if the end of Azeroth plot out? Emerald Dream = "back-up" of the world. 2)"[...]drown yourself in the crown of the five stars[...]." That's blewing my mind, the first thing that came in my mind was the *Whispering Forest* at Trisfal Glades. Well, only saying that would sound vague, but have you noticed that there are 5 Darters, and, when they begin to channel those lights, are 5 lights? Star = five... I'm not any expert in Lore here, but I thought it would be interesting to share those thoughts, also I think you, as well most guys, have thought about it already :)
1) The Emerald nightmare is not a realm. It's a corruption caused by Yogg-saron of the Emerald dream, which is another "realm" 2) Xavius is just a pawn, if not to the legion then to the Old god, namely N'zoth. 3) Xavius and do many things in the Emerald Nightmare, but Magni has never been close to the nightmare, and thous not affected by it. 4) Magni, if corrupted, was most likely corrupted in a similar manner to Deathwing, as he also had a deep connection to the earth and that was their "in".
"at the hour of her third death, she ushers our coming" is it possible that this isnt a physical death but more an emotional one reguarding Jaina? Her first emotional trauma was obviously Arthas (not sure which situation that would have done the most damage to her personally be it what he became, how he destoryed his would be kingdom or more likely the marriage that never happened between them.) Theramores destruction or more specifically her apprentice Kinndy's horrific manner in which she was shattered (I know it's not quite in the same level of destruction in Azeroth but again, this is an emotional level and her bubbly, pint sized, possible future legacy was cut short in such a soul destorying manner after all of her warning to both the Alliance and the Kirin Tor.) Her third may not have happened yet or may be that in a similar fashion to her heart break with Arthas, the strain is starting to become too much between her and Kalec? Maybe how her opinion or council was ignore by Anduin over others and she is losing her 'nephew Anduin' after Varian's death is eating away at her and in her rage or depression she starts hearing or listening to 'the whispers' ?
I'm not sure how she was to them, but the death of her brother and father could be part of it. I can't imagine it would be her Dad sense it was her idea
when he says "Her heart is a crater, and we have filled it" I'm pretty sure he's talking about Azeroth itself since it's a titan and they corrupted it.
Also at he end of the raid after you defeated Xavius, you can get into a small cave. There is a little corrupted flower with some kind of Void Orb above it. You cant click it, but if you are a shadow priest your weapon will whisper: "Almost completely gone, as if it never existed. But the Rift is deep and vast, and somewhere down there it stirs. Something has changed, the last prison weakens. We must prepare."
The "he draw his strength from earth" part can simply be referring to deathwing, who was the aspect of earth. The her heart is a crater part can be referring to Un'goro crater. Since the boss is found in the emerald dream version of un'goro, it is possible that un'goro crater is actually the physically location (or access point to Azeroth titan's heart and the heart of corruption is placed at the emerald dream equivalent to corrupt the titan.
Thanks for reminding me of the Black Empire. I always loved the stories of the Old Gods and the War of the Shifting Sands. I was really bummed when they took out the Scepter quests.
I bet next expansion is gonna be old gods. Question is how far is Blizz willing to go? Do they have the bal;ls to straight up release the old gods, essentially fucking the whole planet up? Like he said in teh video, imagine playing in an Old god ruled world. Damn that'd be cool. PS. NOT an alternate reality plz. EDIT; Also, Jaima's gonna be Alliance's Garrosh
Nobbel, you should check out the shadow priest weapon, cause it's a dagger from the old gods and is actually talking to you. It says a few differnet things depending on where you are and actually tells you something about the heart before the encounter. It also mentioned the "sleeping city" : ) hope you see the post and, that it will help.
now this just raises more of my confirmation that the old gods would be making an appearance in legion and now with these whispers this brings it closer to almost 100%
I think you are spot on Nobbel. Everytime we've seen the Legion's involvement with the mortal races of Azeroth, the Old Gods have always been there. I personally believe that they need a catastrophic event to truly free themselves. I think the Sundering from the Well of the Eternity was one calculated blow that they expected. Sargeras arrives - boom! His true presence alone would be enough (IMO) to shudder the world enough to set the old gods free. Well explodes - one step closer to freedom. Every time we think we're doing the right thing we end up missing the ever weaving and scheming "true" goals of the old gods. We fight the big evils (the Legion) while inadvertently powering the bigger ones (the old gods). Just my speculation of course, but I don't think it's beyond reason that our "good deeds -- specifically with the powerful Pillars - could ultimately be taking us one step closer to our undoing. Just my 2¢ though. Great video either way! Keep up the fantastic and interesting work Nobbel!
Hey Nobbel, someone on the forums suggested the boy king line was referring to Wrathion, as he is still considered a child, but is the leader of the Black Dragonflight. He's also not averse to lying and potentially using the old gods to fight the legion.
The Sunken City relates to Vashj'ir, which is a city that was home to Queen Azshara before the Sundering. The Circle of Stars likely refers to the whirlpool current near the Faceless Ones, which means that he could possibly be found in the Throne of Tides.
Here are some crazy theories :-) What if Lord of Ravens is Skylord Omnuron, leader of the Druids of the Claw, who's official totem is Totem of the Crow. He is able to communicate with Avianna, who is the official messenger of Elune. And wouldn't it make sense that we will need a power of a God to combine 5 titan artifacts and turn them into a Key? And let's not forget that the Tomb of Sargeras is located in the original Temple of Elune. Was it the remnants of her power that Gul'dan was feeling? And then the circle of stars refers that we need Elune's powers to find Illidan in the Tomb? And then the both of them are needed to shut the Demon Portal, which would allow N'Zoth to open his? And the crater refers to the sorrow that Elune probably feels after the loss of her only son Cenarius? What if Elune is already corrupted? What if, as the last step for mortal races to become the true Guardians of Azeroth, we have to witness the despair and fall of the last immortal protector, and the last raid of the Legion is us fighting Elune to prevent her from summoning the Void Portal? Anduin is definitely not a boy anymore. But Moria's son is. Descendant of the Dwarfs who freed Ragnaros from his prison. What if he is already corrupted by the old Gods, and what if Ironforge is about to get invaded by Void Lords, and then we would have to raid it similar to Siege of Ogrimmar? And Magni has been purposefully moved aside by old gods to allow this to happen.
a possible hint about anduin about serving at the masters table. he is a priest, and while he excels at holy light magic, there could be the inclination of him delving into Shadow Magic? a possible reference to fighting using your enemies own power? it's only a thought that came to mind
Hi @Nobbel87, don't you think 4:43 is Azeroth? We've had the Great Sundering, the Shattering and now we might face a third worldwide disaster which will release the Old Gods?
Maybe the ''from the earth he draws strength, our earth, our strength'' is a reference to Deathwing? That he was corrupted by the very earth he was watching over?
I love all the old god stuff is taking pages straight from lovecraftian lore. All i can think of right now Ny'alotha being the WoW equivalent to R'lyeh, the city where Cthulhu is currently in a "dead" state but will one day return. Even down to the "In the sunken city, he lays dreaming." "In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."
If you have done the hidden quests for Fathom Dweller mount, Drak'tul is talking about whispers on Broken Shore that stalk him for years, driving him mad. So yeah, there's probably a gateway or something like that in Tomb of Sargeras that has a connection to the Old Gods. Drak'tul also says demons are not our enemy.
Hey, might be a long shot, but I believe Lilian Voss qualifies as "Died twice" obviously once before she got the joy to be an undead and a second time when the necromancer ripped her soul from her body in scholomance, (then we left her to die) yet she came back in WoD as a quest giver in Lunarfrost inn/Frostwall tavern. She doesn't have as much weight as Sylvanas lorewise I guess... but well, it's something right ? (plus Voss does have that shadow theme !)
The prince is referring to wrathion and the 3 lies he told. Were 1 for the rogues quest, 2nd was celestials and the 3rd was going back in time to draenor
Woow this information let me think of so many cool things. So what I think here is: 1) The 5 Pillars are the key to the prision of the old Gods which I might think was their plan. They help to bring the Legion to Azeroth knowing we seek the pillars and by that releasing them from the prison. 2) Considering Blizzard stated they love "Redemption stories" it might even be that the next expansion is "Awakening of the old Gods" where we fight them and finally Sageras find his redemption seeing the greater sense in the actions of the Pantheon and returning to his "good" state saving Azeroth from the old gods and return the planet to "normal". With that Illidan would fit into the story - considering he's the chosen one who lead to the end of the burning legion. It would fit Illidans storyline that he seeks to get Sageras back (which everyone sees as a traiterous act but in the end it turns out that (as above mentioned) Sageras turns good again. Well I also like the idea seen on the internet that the old gods are just parts of a greater evil (C'thun, Ilgoth the eyes etc., Nzoth the Heart, Yogg the brain) Might fit into a greater story also. 3) Anduin as sleeper bad guy would be amazing! Considering it doesn't fit his character it would be really great plot twist. 4) The Lord of Ravens I see as Mediev - he lifes maybe he works on releasing the old gods. Also it might be Khadgar who uses the pillars against the legion thereby releasing the old gods. 5) "Her heart is a crater and we have filled it" - I also think that's Jaina after losing his love Arthas her heart is broken and it might be that in this time of weakness the old gods found a way to whisper to her. Her recent actions are quite leading to this idea as well. Maybe she hopes to bring Arthas back to life? 6) Circle of Stars is maybe "Court of Stars Dungeon" ment?
+GiantBUThead read the lore on the scepter of Sargeras. Sarge rash doesn't want Azeroth destroyed at all
+Jackob Gainey I'll look into that, I only play shaman and Hunter for now and nobbel hasn't made an episode about warlock weapons yet so I have no insight.
Hmm.
Makes sense. Just like when Illidan tried closing the WoE but Old Gods used him to weaken their prisons.
If the old gods are telling us about the pillars there's no guarantee the pillars would actually close the portal either.
maybe n'zoth is just gonna break free and tear the remaining legion forces apart
There is another boy king as well: Dagran Thaurissan II
He appeared in Magni's nightmare as Fenran.
What if the female is Xal'Atath!
That would connect perfectly to the idea that Odyn will turn the key that will release the old gods, since he is the one sending us in that path.
+
Or it could be Azeroth, "death" could mean Legion invasion. This is the 3rd Legion invasion during which we accidentally unleash N'Zoth, that makes sense too.
Makes sense
She also guards a land below Azeroth, so her death could allow the Old Gods to easily enter Azeroth through Helheim
The Old Gods are so badass, can't wait to see more of them in the future.
Badass?
I think it's Wrathion, he's straight up told us that he shouldn't be trusted , he's done a lot of shady shit in the name of a greater good and it could be that he is in danger of falling to the same old god corruption as his dad
hes no king, hes no boy.
He is, or atleast was, the last black dragon alive. He is young in Dragon Years and could be seen as a "Prince" of the Black Dragonflight. Just something to consider though. dunno if thats true or not
he is the prince, and the king (deathwing) is dead, and he is just a boy since he is very young, atleast in dragon years, so yeah boy king makes sence
He is King of the Black dragonflight and is only a few years young so i think he could be called both boy and king.
Your right he has lied to us and mire than once so maybe him
I think "To find him, drown yourself in a circle of stars" bit means the Maelstrom, since N'Zoth seems to be the old god of interest right now.
Urzaran
exellent interpretation dude
Well u do jump into the maelstorm when u are to get the doom hammer for the shaman questions and to recruit the earthen elemental Lord the earth mother of the efforts .
Nah he was talking about azshara
I think it would be an amazing twist if at the end of the Tomb of Sargeras raid/scenario/whatever when we use the pillars to seal the portal it is suddenly revealed that it was all just manipulated by N'zoth to get himself released.
Yeah, I feel the OG's have been playing us like a deck of cards all along.
This would make a decent amount of sense aswell considering the whispers from the Shadow Priest artifact during different dungeons and in parts of Val'Sharah/Aszuna.
that would be fucking epic to see go down
That wouldn't make any sense lmao.
''Her heart is a crater, and we have filled it''
He could be talking about Alexstrasza, since she must be hearth broken after the events of Val'Sharah.
An anormal gigant dragón OP, is a treat to a world Where is a legión invasión happening at the moment.
lol i read your comment in vol'jins voice xD
Galakrond isnt that strong lol, the legion could pwn his dragon ass, and raise him
In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.
That's what comes in my mind first when talking about Ny'alotha and the Sleeping One and stuff. :D
well old gods from wow are heavily inspired by the works of H.P Lovecraft make a guess

Sounds to me like we're going to see N'Zoth soon.
where is that vid
i am very interested
Reversed it just sounds vaguely like "You will drown" and something with "Your soul"... but i dunno, just sounded like it :P
video name plss send link
Just write Dark Whispers of N'Zoth in the search bar :) Should be the first one
it's a stretch but could the boy king also be wrathion? i mean he was the Black Prince for a while could come back as a king.
It would also remove the one uncorrupted black dragon. He already made hundreds of
lives void with the whole Iron Horde scenario.
Wait...
Ebonhorn's an entirely different character now?
I would really really really like to have a chat with Sargeras about this sooner or later (without him impaling us on his sword for no reason)
If indeed, Azeroth is rotten to the core and her nascent Titan is already lost to us, what would happen next?
lothraxion, a light infused dreadlord! you're right, it is possible, and if Azeroth is lost to the old gods, Sargeras is fully right
There are a number of Nathrezim, infused by Light, including Lothraxion. What make me grind my gears is one of his Quotes: "The Light purifies everything".
I found this on wowpedia, think about it: There is evidence that some demons can be redeemed from their demonic
forms into who they originally were. While there has long been
speculation on this topic-such as using the blessings of the Light to
perform a painful exorcism-one recorded example of complete demonic
redemption exists: the satyr Avrus Illwhisper. After assisting the player in curing a sick girl in Astranaar
as a toll, Avrus was purged of his demonic shell by Elune's blessing
and became Avrus the Redeemed. Based on Avrus' experience, it seems
possible that someone who is truly repentant and is willing to earn a
powerful enough blessing can regain mortality even after corruption.
Why would Blizzard hint at a next expansion at the start of a new one? It's clearly going to be a patch.
Now blizzcon proved that old gods will be the next expansion
Ya I think the pillars will be used to bring the void lords maybe
blizzard said the end boss of legion will be someone that has been with us the whole time
They also said it will be someone "completely unexpected".
2., 3. These are obvious, referring to Magni and pillars
It's long, but there is lot to talk about.
You, sir, deserve more likes. You need to be on top!
Both of Odins ravens are with you through Stormheim questing tho, so dont write that off. (Still think Khadgar is the more realistic choice)
"her" is referring to grand magister elistrex. You kill her three time during her encounter while fighting her at the circle of stars and after you kill her theres some dialogue (not gonna spoil) Then you take the fifth pillar and khadgar activates it and the lord of ravens is referring to khadgar
Idiot
Alternate theory that makes sense to me: The boy king telling 3 lies could also refer to Wrathion, as he is technically the leader of the black dragonflight now given that he was the last known member of it. He has offered the players help 3 times, and the only reason we trust him is we think he is free of the old god corruption. He is also who set WoD in motion by getting Kairoz and Chromie to help Garrosh escape.
kairoz only not chromie
After 2 years, i came back to this video, just to notice again how great is nobble into predicting stuffs.
#JainaIsAnOldGod
*ehum* oh god plz no
Jaina and tentacles? Yes, please! :D
Ok you got a Point there
Why I think, that I know very well what you mean... o_O
Jaina was made by an old god :P
I always love things like this, hidden in the game. it makes it mysterious and just creates endless possibilities! I was doing the Emerald Nightmare with my guild and heard these whispers wondering if there was more. Thank you for making this Nobbel!
Nordrassil means "Crown of the Heavens". Maybe that's the "circle of stars" he's referring to? More accurately, the well of eternity below it?
already drowned myself there. nothing. : /
*GREEN JESUS!!!*
* he appears in a flash of light *
Thrall: Yes my son, I only came down to Azeroth and wrote this story to teach you all a lesson in uniting against great threats.
All hail Green Jesus blessed be his name.
could Ny'Alotha be the place where they turned Queen Azshara into naga ? or mby even that she built it when she met N'Zoth perhaps.
although now that i think about it, it doesn't sound like a naga name.
You mean Nazjatar ?? Yeah that could possibly be true
Ny'alotha could be the Old Good Name for Nazjatar or vice versa. It is the Capital of the Naga and was built in The Rift (Maelstrom). It is known, that The Rift is connected to the Rift of Aln within the Emerald Dream. The Prison of N'zoth is probably there, which would explain his Influence on the Dream/Nightmare.

true lore
The last prison weakens is probably a reference to the Tomb of Sargeras
I think "last prison" refers to N'Zoths, previously we've faced old gods still partially in their prison... so what happens if N'Zoth gets out?
n'zoth out? well, last time when he was in, he made deathwing who fucking almost destroyed azeroth. if he will be out, i guess he would just mind control the entire world.
I disagree, I think it references N'zoth's version of Ulduar.
Jaina siding with the Old Gods? Imagine her corrupted. All them tentacles on her body...
Oh god pls No, NOO
Imagine Fel corrupted Jaina ... Yes........
stop watching hentai please
Shh! Or those on Paheal will hear you!
Actually... Shout louder! May those on Paheal hear you!
Gul'dan Fel corrupted Jaina will just be green Jaina with horns. Old God Jaina will be Jaina with TENTACLES.
drown yourself in the circle of stars, could he maybe be refering to velen and the dranei going back to argus? with stars as in space? to find kil'jaden? or maybe it is something to do with night elves probably something with elune?
also it sounds a lot like if/when we seal the tomb, we lock the legion away but open the way for the old gods. perhaps the passage way to ny'alotha is under the tomb of sargares and maybe collapse under our feets?
also could the one who definetly seems to be anduin maybe refer to wrathion though he is refered as the black prince?
Wration DOES take a human form and he IS the king od his flight (albeint there are none left).
Well, thats not true. There are quite a few corrupted black dragons left, in Outland, along with ANOTHER uncorrupted one, being Ebyssian, in Highmountain. So he could very well fit into the theory, and seemingly fits better than Anduin.
It was an exaggeration, but I agree :))
Deathwing was no king tho. I find it more likely that Wrathion becomes king of the black empire because of his desert theme, and the black empire has ties to the old gods
"The crater in her heart" could also be referring to Azshara, once hopeful to be a consort of Sargeras, she now works with N'zoth along with the naga.
Could Azeroth be the one we are waiting for the the 3rd death of? The Sundering, then the Cataclysm the 3rd would be soon I'd assume.
There lay great Cthulhu and his hordes, hidden in green slimy vaults."
Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn:
This actually turned out to be one of my favorite videos you've made. very surprised
I kinda hope now that when we close the portal, something goes wrong and suddenly we gave an old god epidemic again.
I love speculation videos like this. I would love to see more of them in the coming future
3rd death? clearly they're bringing back onyxia as another raid boss.
Really nice video , cheers from France , you're doing a great job !
i have been thinking azeroth's heart could be what they ment by filling her heart
Nobbel your AWSOME! All ways fun and exciting to lissen to your storys in wow! Keep it up!
this is setting up for a new expansion I bw
bet
Most definitely. There's already lots of naga stuff which is related to old gods.
Well, they are setting up for several ones. We got the Army of Light and Velen preparing the Exodar to "go home" hinting at a future Argus as well.
More than anything, I have wanted an expansion devoted to the Old Gods. I assumed it would come before one that meant to end the game with Sargeras/Titans as the final one. Here's hoping.
Please do more speculation videos. I like to hear your opinion on things, rather than things already set in motion. Kepp up the good work Nobbel.
Maybe boy-king means Wrathion?
yeah he is just considered a child by dragon standards
You've got it, that has to be it.
no
Princes are just young kings really, the boy in boy king implies they are young.
he was reffered as the Black Prince stuff before the death of deathwing... not that it makes him a King, but you know...
i imagine with wow being more lore heavy as of late that channels like nobbel's will get a massive boom in views.
anyway amazing video nobbel, you are the man when it comes to lore.
"But there is a yawning chasm of darkness beneath you mortals. Vast, endless and all consuming. I do not believe you can correct this doomed course"
What did he mean by this?
So.... Azeroth is bad, then?
Yes.. Do not worry mortal .. The legion will show you the Errors of your way ...
Maybe it already got completely corrupted by the Old Gods. We're all gonna die lads.
Once agian amazing Nobbel! Keep it up, i Love wow lore so much and the way you are explaining is really good! Thanks
Calling it now:
Current expansion: Kill Sargeras - Beat the Legion
Next expansion: Destroy the Old Gods - Go to Nya'lotha
Final expansion: Beat the Void Lords
That's like, 9 years of content and a great way to finish the story.
I don't see how can we kill Sergeras, Void Lords are pretty much unkillable by players, lorewise
A Sargeras fight will very likely involve aiding Azeroth itself in fighting him instead of killing him which would make no sense for players.
sargeras can cut planets in half you think we can defeat something like that? you are delusional
We might face an avatar of Sargeras, but we aren't going to beat his actual form up. I doubt if the real thing appeared we'd be able to dent his little toenail.
Would be cool if somehow Azeroth woke up and smacked him in the face.
I dont think we kill sargeras this expansion
"Her heart is a crater, and we have filled it" - My first thought was that "she" is Azeroth.
Maybe it's a hint for the next expansion. In the end of this expantion we use the pillars of creation to close the gate way. But in the process we also weaken the old gods prison. And that takes us into the next expantion.
binge watching your videos at 4 in the morning while pouring liquid bandages all over my hands. i am not entirely sane when it's after midnight.
my hand hurts
i speculated before legion started that during legion we'd find nyolotha, and that it'd be the next expantion's "continent".. it'd be a massive underwater city (inside would only be partly flooded) with several floors and path ways to fight going deeper and deeper into its heart. the floors/pathways would be the different "zones", but all would phase across a story (so you could take one path and still see results of the other paths progressing at the same time, and wouldbe able to progress the overall story from any floor.. making the replay strong as what path you start on would change your overall experiance)
dungeons, raids, and bgs/arenas would all be different "rooms" within the city, each holding their own twist of madness throughout their halls.. in the case of dungeons/raids, those probably be on a bosd to boss basis (though i'd like to see a dungeon based on whimsyshire from Diablo 3, cuz that'd be funny and could fit the madness theme. hell, they could make several dungeons based on other blizzard games. that'd be cool).. bgs/arenas might randomly change their cosmetics, teleport players at random, or even spawn mobs (or even a boss/miniboss to interrupt the pvp) randomly..
i'd even say they could gate off max level behind a few patches for expanding story, so you'd have to lvl a few before going into harder dungoeons.. kind of a "you cant level up too fast for madness sake" thing
not how MMOs work sadly lol
that sounds insane (no pun intended) i mean it seems awesome to have a giant city like that but i mean blizzard already turned down the emerald dream for a lack of variety and i can't blame them for it
Maybe as an Endgame zone? With other zones being places like Zandalar, Kul'Tiras, maybe return to Kezan? etc
but see, there wouldnt be a lack of variaty in my idea as the "insanity" could cause illusions in some areas giving the section of the city the appearance of being a forest or nountains or whatever... thats the beauty of it all.
The third death is probably azeroth itself ( first death sundering, second is cataclysm, and with the third the old gods come)
pretty cool speculations, thank you for the video!
ny'alothA=new Lothar
lothars name was anduin, who else is named anduin? the king, so my conlusion is
Anduin=Old god
its true admit it
also #jainaIsAOldGod
also anduin is the river on middle earth
Lol 😂
This is hilariously wrong
Can the Lord of Ravens might be the echo of medivh corrupted by sargeras or something and kahadgar couldnt attack him because he is his mentor??
khadgar already killed medivh, so that would make no sense.... he and lothar killed him long ago.
terrozer Lengend i said the echo of medivh but for all we know medivh might be alive his mother agewynn ressurected him and he appeared in warcraft 3 and the dissapeared so except the medan comic we dont know if he is dead or alive or in between
Specter TheReaper im saying it would make no sense that khadgar cant bring himself to kill him, he already did it once.
terrozer Lengend he did but he was corupted maybe he will lie to khadgar and tell him he came to help them
It could be Med'an or Aegwynn (unless Med'an is canon).
glad you did a video nobbel. I never would have known these cool things otherwise
7.4 N'Zoth awakens hype?
Man, you're obssesed with this idea. Just stop
+Wow Jedi I WANT MY CONTROLLABLE SHIP
Try 8.0, they're not going to have an Old God be the final boss of a Legion expac.
They had a demon be the final boss of an orc expansion...
WoD was a Draenor expansion. It's right in the name.
I just rly hope they finally give Azshara her spotlight she deserves soon.
A full Old god could be the perfect answer and the Fanservice Exp 2.0 after Legion (they pulled all the stops in the Lore for Legion they appealed to fans on practically every level, it would make sense to do it again with a big Old God/Titan expansion, now we get Karazhan, int he next Expansion we get Ulduar aka the 2 fan fav raids)
and we get an actual Dark Below expansion with Azshara and ultimately the full N'Zoth (noth the puny images we dealt with in Yogg and C'Thun), when u think of how to fanservice wow fans a Legion exp and a Dark Below exp are at the very top of the list
so much lore is coming and i love it!
Sargeras is apeshit strong and we have no chance of beating him, but if the Void Lords and infect a planet with a World Soul and create some unspeakably strong dark being, could the Naaru do the same, but with Light?
hey nobbel! could the lord of the ravens be Medivh? is he going to make a return in your opinion?
The shade or echo or something of Medivh is a boss in the return to karazhan so it's possible
Huge 7.1 Spoilers
He returns in 7.1 and helps us clear the tower, calls Khadgar "Young Trust" again and names him "guardian" in an emotional way (which means not a real one) for his heart and courage. Check Wowhead's channel for voice files.
There are 7 instances of Medivh in 7.1
One called "Shade of Medivh" for boss encounter
One called "Image of Medivh" for probably the chess event
And FIVE called "Medivh" - only Medivh, no shade echo or whatsoever.
Give in.. to the Nightmare...
Looking at the patch notes, might as well give in...
They nerfed your class ... Your main lays in ruins .. There is only one choice ... Drink.... And your class will become Op once more..
DRINK THE VOID.
Get off our world Gul'dan and take your disgusting Fel Mountain Dew with you!
Honestly, if it was an option in game to take Gul'dan's offer. I would.
I feel like the Horde is losing this war. We're almost out of champions. If Sylvannas goes who do we have left? Baine? Lor'themar? Rexxar? GALLYWIX??
You forgot the mightiest of horde champions:
Mankrik
What abotu Johnny Awesome?
Ji Firepaw for the warchief!
We go to Argus, where we get the leveling zones and everything, and THEN we get the endboss of Kil'Jaedan or Archimond, and kill 'em for good
Yeah but how boring would it be to have 3 expansions after another in all of which we fought demons? -.-
+Kurasa Twentyfive (Kurasa25) the legion has been a constant threat throughout warcrafts history, so technically we've fought demons 6 expansions in a row so far
The Old Gods were more of a prominent threat in WotLK, Cata and MoP tho.
Nobbel, I gotta 2 things (I think you know anyways):
1) "Azeroth will fall within the 3rd Legion invasion", why not?
Please keep in mind that the Emerald Nightmare is Xavius' realm. He can do whatever he wants, if he wants to corrupt Magni, he can corrupt Magni.
1) The Emerald nightmare is not a realm. It's a corruption caused by Yogg-saron of the Emerald dream, which is another "realm"
2) Xavius is just a pawn, if not to the legion then to the Old god, namely N'zoth.
3) Xavius and do many things in the Emerald Nightmare, but Magni has never been close to the nightmare, and thous not affected by it.
4) Magni, if corrupted, was most likely corrupted in a similar manner to Deathwing, as he also had a deep connection to the earth and that was their "in".
personally i don't think magni is directly corrupted. he is a pawn, meaning he is being played without himself knowing
Xavius was just a high born it was the old god that gave him his power.
Maybe so, but the Legion did turn him into the first satyr.
@unspeakable the legion turned him first, but when he failed they abandoned him and then he made a pact with the old gods.
The old gods are but tools in the Void Lords mass drama that is Azeroths story. Again, great video and no one does it like you Nobbel.
"at the hour of her third death, she ushers our coming" is it possible that this isnt a physical death but more an emotional one reguarding Jaina?
Her first emotional trauma was obviously Arthas (not sure which situation that would have done the most damage to her personally be it what he became, how he destoryed his would be kingdom or more likely the marriage that never happened between them.)
Theramores destruction or more specifically her apprentice Kinndy's horrific manner in which she was shattered (I know it's not quite in the same level of destruction in Azeroth but again, this is an emotional level and her bubbly, pint sized, possible future legacy was cut short in such a soul destorying manner after all of her warning to both the Alliance and the Kirin Tor.)
Her third may not have happened yet or may be that in a similar fashion to her heart break with Arthas, the strain is starting to become too much between her and Kalec? Maybe how her opinion or council was ignore by Anduin over others and she is losing her 'nephew Anduin' after Varian's death is eating away at her and in her rage or depression she starts hearing or listening to 'the whispers' ?
I'm not sure how she was to them, but the death of her brother and father could be part of it. I can't imagine it would be her Dad sense it was her idea
very cool video, i love how wow has like 10 stories going on at once.
Circle of stars could be something pertaining to Algalon again or his room, since we went back there?
when he says "Her heart is a crater, and we have filled it" I'm pretty sure he's talking about Azeroth itself since it's a titan and they corrupted it.
Good work nobbel you are doing a upload daily and that takes work. I have supported you for a long time keep up the good work.
Ohhh YES. I was waiting for this video.
The boy King can be wrathion with the 3 lies being the legendary dagger in cataclysm, the Cape at MoP and he causing the WoD incident
"Three lies he WILL offer you" not "Three lies he HAS offered you"
I think you are spot on Nobbel.
The Circle of Stars likely refers to the whirlpool current near the Faceless Ones, which means that he could possibly be found in the Throne of Tides.
nobbel I highly recommend that you check the priest artifact whispers it also hints about nzoth and the sleeping city which I think is ny'lotha
Here are some crazy theories :-)
What if Lord of Ravens is Skylord Omnuron, leader of the Druids of the Claw, who's official totem is Totem of the Crow.
We've had the Great Sundering, the Shattering and now we might face a third worldwide disaster which will release the Old Gods?
could you make a similar video about the whispers from xal'atath? she (it?) got some interesting thing to say, especially in the emerald nightmare.
I saw a whisper during the raid tonight, but I didn't think much of it. This is so cool :p
The prince is referring to wrathion and the 3 lies he told. Were 1 for the rogues quest, 2nd was celestials and the 3rd was going back in time to draenor
Woow this information let me think of so many cool things.
So what I think here is:
1) The 5 Pillars are the key to the prision of the old Gods which I might think was their plan.
