    Rudolf Bultmann and Karl Barth really had a very big influence over here in Germany with their liberal demythologization of the bible. I havent had any clue that they had so much impact even in the englisch speaking world too. I tought it was a local phenomenon here in german speaking parts of europe. I‘m very thankfull, that these times are over as we take further steps in science that has changed our world-view from a materialistic standpoint to the undestanding, that we don‘t live in a matter-based universe but rather in an information-based universe what let to many open minded scientist about god and supernatural events.

      Argumentum ad populum is the hallmark of the imbecile, which makes Habermas a fully qualified imbecile.
      The so-called " resurrection" is *Utterly _irrelevant* to christianity because nothing that occurs *After* a teacher is (for himself) destroyed forever can possibly be relevant to what he taught*Before*he was (for himself) destroyed forever, but can that fool Habermas understand that? To ask that question is to answer it?

    Problem with skeptics is they really don’t want to believe cause they would have to change their lifestyle and focus on God instead of themselves, wealth, power, SIN and material things. They also do t want to believe because they think the books of the New Testament were written down too far from Jesus’s death and resurrection but they forget that the early Christians were already worshipping Jesus as God during and shortly after the resurrection and ascension of Jesus. Just because some were written years later doesn’t mean it’s not accurate, reliable or true! God bless

    You don't need to have a doctorate in theology or to be a scholar to know God's plan and Jesus promises to those who put their trust in him.The apostle Paul clearly stated that if Jesus did not rose from the dead then there is no resurrection and therefore we (Christians who put their faith in Christ) are to be pitted!.I rather believe Paul and the rest of the apostles who claimed to be eyewitnesses of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ resurrection and ascension to heaven.If Jesus did not literally resurrected from the dead then the apostles were liars and deceivers, I don't think so!.
    The Gospel is based on this promise:to those who repent from their sins and put their faith in Jesus Christ, Jesus promised these 3 things: 1-their sins will be forgiven 2-They will be resurrected from the dead in a new incorruptible body and 3-will have eternal life in Gods kingdom!. Let God and Jesus Our Lord be truthful and faithful and let man be called a liar and deceitful.I for one choose to trust and believe the all Mighty all knowing God and his Holly Son Jesus Christ

    What about the resurrection of the Dead (ek) out from which Jesus was raised? You are teaching the resurrection of Jesus only out of His own death. The Mystery is far deeper. How can you teach Matthew 27:51 and not the rest of that same text? You get a lot of "attaboys" for tickling ears, but if you don't teach the whole truth, you would be better off to not teach any of it. Teach all of the resurrection account Matthew 27:51-53 as one complete event. We have been taught the half-truth for 2ooo years. Your theological cemetery has buried the truth! Now let's hear the "rest of the story"!
    [Mat 27:51-53 KJV] 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
    Matthew 27:51-53 is one complete narrative. You must teach all of it together. You cannot omit 52 and 53 and preach 51 only. If we do, we deny the very completed redemptive work of Christ and substitute a false gospel. 52 and 53 are exactly the Work the Father sent His Son to accomplish.
    It is the fulfillment of Jeremiah 31:16. It is our only Blessed Hope through faith in His Redemption of Israel.
    [Jer 31:16 KJV] 16 Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy. (we see in Matthew 2:16-18 that they are the DEAD fulfilling vs 15 of Jer 31)
    If we miss this plain revelation of prophecy, we miss the Blessed hope found in verse 17 of Jer 31
    Jer 31:17 KJV] 17 And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border. (Their own coasts from which they were murdered)
    Denial of this resurrection of the Dead Saints that slept is precisely where modern theological cemeteries bury the truth! This is where "replacement theology" comes in and pretends that the church on earth replaced Israel. This is what Peter warned about in 2 Peter 2:1. The false teachers would "deny the One Redeemer who REDEEMED THEM, the firstfruits of Israel with Him!
    This denial of the true resurrection was foretold by Simeon in Luke 2:34.
    [Luk 2:34 KJV] 34 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this [child] is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;
    The word "rising again" should be translated "resurrection to life" as it is 41 other times in scripture. (Why the mistranslation?)
    As the one who claims to have the best understanding of the resurrection of Christ what will you do with this? Will you continue to "speak against" it as Simeon foretold? Or be renewed.
    Refute it from scripture if you can! Or repent and believe the gospel as we are commanded.

    You can present all the historical individuals and the sources referring to them all you want.. no one is making claims of supernatural ability or events. The man, Jesus, may well have existed, but the claims of Divinity and supernatural ability to rise from the dead are not proven from texts written, especially ones like the four gospels which give fundamentally differing accounts of the ‘events’ leading up to to finding of an ‘empty tomb’ and the events after.

    Not much of an argument. Just the same O same O of so many people believe it, it has to be true. I am dissapointed that someone with a phD can not come up with something better, no matter what he himself believes. For a more stringent case look at Richard Carrier (sceptic) or Bart Ehrman (believer) in the historicity and ressurection of Jesus.

    • @TomasPböckerlyftningschack
      @TomasPböckerlyftningschack 4 года назад +2

      @Ali Ali Yes I agree he is an agnostic (about the christian god and Jesus´s pedigree and resurrection) now, but as far as I understand it he is still a believer in the historicity of Jesus, but maybe he has changed his mind about that as well (source?). It doesn´t matter, his argument (I thought well presented) was for the existence of Jesus as a historical person, not a god.
      In contrast Gary Habermas is a believer in Jesus the son of God etc. and his arguments make absolutely no sense without the presupposition of the bible as a reliable historical source.

    • @TomasPböckerlyftningschack
      @TomasPböckerlyftningschack 4 года назад +2

      @Ali Ali I don´t get your point, to look at the bible as a historical document is what Carrier does, but Habermas insist on treating the bible as a relyable documentation of historic events, something completely different.

    • @TomasPböckerlyftningschack
      @TomasPböckerlyftningschack 4 года назад +1

      @Ali AliThe gospels are not eyewitness accounts. Or, if you think they are, prove it. (St Paul actually says that what he knows has been revealed directly to him, not told by witnesses). However you got something right, that is where the divide between believers and critical thinkers is in the field of biblical history and that is why the believers arguments make absolutely no sense without the presupposition of the bible as a reliable historical source. Please at least look at Richard Carriers RUclips videos if you cannot get his books before you bother to answer. The following links may be useful:

      @Ali Ali Your statement "PEOPLE DONT MAKE UP STORIES, THEN WILLINGLY DIE FOR THOSE MADE UP STORIES." YES, IN FACT THEY DO! if accurate, your statement would prove all religions to be true. If sufficient numbers of otherwise normal people are not prepared to do crazy things for it, it does not count as a religion. (That is btw why Marxism or Nazism can be best analyzed and understood as religions, not just political standpoints).
      Nothing special about christianity here, except that we have a continuous tradition from the fourth century. Most of the earlier "tradition" were invented (or perhaps more kindly; reconstructed) only after the religion had been established long after the alleged ressurection.
      When and how did Paul meet the apostles? If he did wouldn,t he have stated it clearly and written about it in his letters?
      What level of evidence we have for different historical events and people is of course very different. The thing about most of the names you mention is that we get the stories from independent sources, and also that we find accounts of these people were we would expect them if we hypothesize their existence. (This has been developed into a system to evaluate post fact evidence, Look for Bayes theorem on RUclips if you need a more elaborate discussion of the matter.)
      And again: At least look at Richard Carriers RUclips videos if you cannot get his books before you bother to answer. I think his presentation of the arguments against the historicity of Jesus is very good.

      @Ali Ali The gospels were written long after the events allegedly took place, the apostles had nothing to do with the gospels (they would or could not have written in greece, if at all).
      The people creating religions do not necessarily think they make up stories, they think the get messages from some god/gods/spirits. St Paul and Mohammed have the same position in christianity and islam respectively. I accept that they probably honestly believed they were chosen by god to reveal the truth to mankind. People believing in islam and flying into buildings is exactly the same as people believing in the divinity of christ and burning non-believers at the stake.
      Again: At least look at Richard Carriers RUclips videos if you cannot get his books before you bother to answer.
