Problem with skeptics is they really don’t want to believe cause they would have to change their lifestyle and focus on God instead of themselves, wealth, power, SIN and material things. They also do t want to believe because they think the books of the New Testament were written down too far from Jesus’s death and resurrection but they forget that the early Christians were already worshipping Jesus as God during and shortly after the resurrection and ascension of Jesus. Just because some were written years later doesn’t mean it’s not accurate, reliable or true! God bless

Some really good stuff, as always, from Gary Habermas. It is obvious that in the NT, Jesus is viewed as the Messiah/ Christ, the Son of God. However, in the credal/confessional/baptismal statements mentioned, it is quite apparent that those who gave the statements(creeds ?) drew a distiction between the LORD God( Jehovah) and the Lord Messiah ( Jesus). One is the servant of the other. One dies and is raised by the other. They are two distinct entities/beings. Even in 1 Cor 8 :6, despite some verbal gymnastics which utterly fail, the context shows that we are talking about the LORD God and his Messiah. Habermas grossly overplays the use of the word Lord. We know that even in the Septuagint, the divine name was still written in ancient hebrew. He refers to Hurtado and his claims that early Christians sang songs of praise to Jesus. But there is a world of difference between singing the praises of YHWH's anointed One / Messiah, his plenipotentiary and the suggestion that they viewed him as YHWH himself. Indeed, Hurtado admits that the historical Jesus never received 'worship; but that this was a later compositioal device of the Evangelist. In his greetings to the Christian communities that he writes to, Paul always gives greetings from TWO: The LORD God and the Lord Messiah/Jesus. (Never three). Indeed, he even calls one the God of the other. Titles and descriptiins such as Son of God and seated at the right hand of God continue to show that even the exalted, gloriofied Jesus was a different being from God. The gospels make the original confession clear : Jessus is the Christ, the Son of God. This is what we learn from the creeds, the early sources and the NT writings. What later generations of Christians came up with is a differnt matter.

There is no such thing as an" historical fact" because the past cannot be experienced or known(directly immediately personally experienced - as directly immediately and personally as pain)
What people believed and what they could prove are two different things. Jesus chose a time and place that had no means of accurately recording his teachings and miracles. He never wrote anything which is very disappointing- almost like he didn't care.

I find that funny because people will believe in aliens first before they believe in the existence of God Almighty…there is no prove written, photographic or otherwise that suggest the existence of alien life on earth and other planets, however, people easily believe in those out space demons with any tangible proof except heavy mass indoctrination. The media, government and satan had brainwashed people to believe in the possibility without a shred of evidence hence it amazes me when you ask someone do you believe in God, they say no is a fairytale, yet you ask the same person do you believe in aliens and without hesitation they say yes, the government or media have proof or is more possible than God. It contains his descriptions of his many conversations with the Devil and shows exactly where his ideas came from.
It's all right there. His own words convict him. After that book came out in 1533, people were horrified, and many of his followers left him and returned to the Catholic Church.
But you won't read the original article I directed you to and find out for yourself, because you're too scared, you don't want to know the truth. You like living in your fantasy world.

The story of Jesus being a savior of humanity, was just the latest savior myth, in a long line of savior myth stories. Other than a want-to-be leader of a new cult, why would any man say that a god sent him to earth to specifically cleanse all humanity of sin?
Scriptures and history is testament to him as being, true him being God and all that he said, but we as humans are of stubborn hearts and mind,we have to get burnt to kno how hot it really is .
@@2mbili449 My guess is, you believe that all religious stories are false, but yours ... am I right?
Those myths were and are, all self-serving nonsense.
If we were taught that all souls would go to heaven ... there wouldn't be any need for churches, mosques, or synagogues, as there wouldn't be any need to compete.
Do you "get it" now?
We all go for that which comforts one best am from a very spiritual oriented bckgrnd I may not follow my forebearers beliefs,I find the spiritual wisdom in scriptures very comforting as for zeus and Jupiter ,Ra ,Krishna and all guess will find out in the fullness of time .
@@2mbili449 Do you believe that all souls will go to a good place in the supposed afterlife?
Yes ... or ... No?
This will tell you a lot about your own character.
@@2mbili449 If devotees used the word "thoughts" rather than the word "souls" ... I suggest it would seem ridiculous, when human animals die, to say "His or her thoughts will either go flying off to heaven ... or to hell ... or to reincarnate."
Without the word "soul," there couldn't be any religion. All stories are based on what the soul is thinking, and what the soul is doing, and where the soul came from, and where the soul is going after death of the physical body. Fortunes have been made by theologians who taught that the soul is a gift from God, and that women must never have abortions, because abortions offend God's gift to humanity. Evolution of the soul is a huge seller in religion. It means that your soul is ever upgrading and will hopefully soon make the grade of God's "entire" approval of enlightenment and salvation … or … that in the afterlife something horrible could happen to your soul. If you remove the word "soul" from religion, you will not have anything but ground zero.
Trying to give Iron Age mythology the stamp of academic rigor is futile. You have to spin, make stuff up, and pretend all kinds of people agree with you who don't. And just because I don't know how the universe came into existence doesn't mean I have to believe in any gods.
You’re absolutely right, what people believe and what they can prove are two different things. We can’t blaspheme against God any longer!!
You are willingly buying yourself a ticket to hell. One of the 12 Disciples that Christ Jesus choose was Matthew a Tax collector and a man that knew how to keep records. The first book of the New Testament is the gospel according to Matthew. It goes into great detail. "There is none so blind as he who will not see."
"There are many, good, historical arguments in favour
of the historicity of the Gospel message." (!!). And then
ignores the whole bunch of epistles which know nothing
about that Mark's invention of Jesus of Nazareth.
Hey, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying.
Do you think that those people who wrote the epistles (Paul etc.) didn't believe in Jesus? Or they didn't know the details of his life? Or what?
@@jonathanchatterjee6044 the first Christians believed in the celestial Jesus the Christ.
the later Christians believed what the author known later as «Mark»
had created: the Christ had been on earth. this new idea, this new meme,
was believed over the celestial, original, esoteric one.

@@Hermes1548 The "mythicists" are a fringe minority. And dude, it's like you didn't even listen to the lecture. Paul converted only a few years after the crucifixion and then hooked up with the apostles Peter and James, who actually knew Jesus. Mark is way later.
@@lilyw.719 Peter and James knew Jesus the Christ (the celestial son). Try, if you can, to read the epistles and understand how can they not comment on Jesus of Nazareth (who appeared for the first time in Mark, a later writer, as you concede) and his miracles, mother, father, place of birth, death, the jews who killed him, the Romans responsible for the crucifixion. You have to read the minority theory. All new truths begin as minority (including Christianity in its day). If you value other minds as well as yours, you may come to the surprising, unbelievable fact that your theory may be wrong.
