A common problem I hear people having is softlocking after leaving Ripto. If during the first time you spawn in Ripto's Arena you have the speedway timer active, you skipped the cutscene too late after pressing Retry. You're supposed to spawn without the timer at first to make this work.
BetaM I have a problem where mine doesnt load quick enough into the speedway. Has it been patched?
as well as when I do manage to get to the lava and kill spyro the cutscene just ends without finishing so I think it might be patched
I’m still having the timer start when I’m in Ripto’s Arena. I die, hit retry, and skip the cutscene all with PLENTY of time (although I’ve also tested different timing, really early as well as just in the nick of time. None of it works). Do you know if something else could be causing this issue? Playing on a PS4 Pro.
@@Aravias Also playing on PS4 Pro and having the same issue. Can spawn into other flight levels after Ripto but nothing else.
@@sabledragonrook What ended up working for me was not mashing X to click "retry", but rather waiting until I knew for sure retry was on the screen, then pressing X and then Triangle as quickly as I can after X. I've had a 100% success rate since doing it this way. Hope it helps!

Some things I've learned: Talking to people seems to turn off super flight for that level, but leaves on super charge. Super flight comes back when going to any other level or dying.
You can still swim as normal, the Speedway being loaded has no effect on water.
Would there be a new speedrun category for this?
Does it stay if you switch game? Or is starting a newgame (ng+with permanent flight) possible?
Spyro as it's meant to be truly played.

I did it once now it keeps locking at "the Adventure continues"
So if this looks super tricky, heres my guide:
When you get close to Ripto's arena, spam up on the d-pad (the accuracy of the d-pad makes it easier then the thumbstick, plus I played OG Spyro with an OG PS1 controller and no thumbsticks lol) and the pause menu until you see a little purper sillohuete of spyro and you see the exit level option.
Now when you spawn outside Speedway Canyon while the cutscene is playing, you should hear Winter Tundras music. Use this as a guide. Hold up on the d-pad again until you hear the flying in a portal loading music, then hold the charge button until you hear spyro fry to a crisp. Then hit X or the B is it on Xbox? (the bottom face button) and then triangle (or the top face button, that might be X on Xbox) to skip the cutscene. Ive also found that waiting until the cutscenr ends and then just pressing X or whatever Xbox button that is to retry also works. Then kill yourself once in Riptos stage and huzzah!
One word of caution: DO NOT press start and quit as this will softlock the game. Press select/touchpad or whatever button it is on Xbox that brings up the Atlas and warp to a level/hub world that way.
And yes, if you quit Spyro 2 and access Spyro 1 or 3, this glitch continues, just always use the Atlas to select a level. Enjoy!
I don't think I can do this glitch, I can do the exit level bit, but the other part is like so hard.
@@RedDevilDazzy2007 The only good advice I can give is listen to the music. As soon as you hear winter tundra music during the Ripto's Arena cutscene, hold up for about 3 seconds. Then wait for about 5 seconds, then press square to charge and wait until you hear spyro burn then press x and triangle
We need Spyro having permanent free flying ability for good in The Spyro Series and Tom Kenny is my favorite Spyro Voice Actor and it's awesome to hear him as Spyro again he's the best Spyro voice actor.

I'd love to see that video with more info regardless. I feel like this IS going to be patched if they can do it (so, unless they don't get another patch, or unless it's somehow impossible to fix). They got rid of RiA after all. But I just like hearing about game innards. Either way yer a legend betam
Okay, the hardest part is getting into the portal. I finally managed to do it, but I took too long and ended up activating the retry menu just after the cutscene ended. It gave me flight with a glitchy camera immediately as the Ripto fight begun, and when I tried teleporting to Winter Tundra via the guidebook, the game softlocked on a loading screen.
Imma keep trying though.
its easy, first take attention on the vibration of your controller, when you feel the first vibration, than press the d-pad "up" for 2 seconds then "up + left". If you enter the portal, a saving icon will appear in the bottom right. Then just hold square till feel 3 vibrations, then smash X button
@@FrutasdasmaisvariadasComAmor Yeah, I figured out exactly how I needed to move not long later with the analog stick - just immediately move the stick up from the side so that it steers Spyro into the other direction.
So now, the hardest part is timing when to pause in the entrance to Ripro's Arena(which I literally hit a streak of failing that at least 10 times yesterday). But after that, I pretty much have the glitch figured out! 👍
My ps4 is pretty slow and soft locked a few times but after a while I got it. Keep trying.

I tried to do the glitch but the problem to me is the loading times...
Isn’t there an add on glitch that helps you bypass the height barrier?

I cant seem to pause on the right frame, when I do it with gulp it's much easier, but the levels dont load fast enough at gulp :/
YOU. ARE. A. GENIUS. How the hell do you find these things?! Hopefully the glitch doesn't reset when the timer hits the limit(which I think is 10 minutes). Either way, thank you for posting all your crazy finds.

Dray just checked that out, that’s really creepy actually, I have no idea what that is. I messed up my Glitch by trying to see what happens if you ride the manta then run out of time. I have to redo it but don’t have time tonight haha. I’ll have to check out that weird dragon head in person tomorrow.
@@Teryaki11 Oh, so other timers can affect it huh? Well thanks, that'll be useful information to know lol(similar to how I couldn't fly in Glimmer due to the level having superflight).
Dray sorta, I have noticed that some levels including Glimmer are too high for flight, since your data is saved to Canyon Speedway it still only allows you to go as high as that level when flying.

I wish someone would make a flying mod for PC 😩😩 It's a cool glitch and all, a mod would just be way easier
Sadly this glitch doesn't work for me, it softlocks on every stage that I warp to that isn't a boss stage or a flight stage, but even then it's wierd, the counter counts down from 30, when it's done get the retry screen, if I retry I puts me in the void with only the flight stage targets loaded, if I complete it I get infinite time in the void and boss stage if I warp there again, it also glitches the % of game completion, Spyro 2 I have completed with over 1500% .

@@sabledragonrook Wrong timing, die in the speed way, then skip the cutscene and mush X to retry the speed way.

Have been trying this for years and my ps4 is too slow, but every time I want to play the game I start stubbornly thinking about trying to do it again. Thanks for this comment guys, I am gonna keep trying.

Honestly, as long as you spam start and forward until you see the spyro loading shadow on the start menu, you'll know you've started it. The hard part is not seeing what you're doing in speedway canyon during the cutscene

Only if they put a flag on it that it can't be activated until the trilogy is 100% complete, not much point in playing the games if you can cheese everything.
