Mini braids and twists definitely help with length retention! That’s what I did before locs, and if I remove them at some point I will be doing them again to retain length.
I decided to do my own hair in 2022 and avoid salons and this year I won't use any heat or very minimal use and incorporate deep conditioning and hot oil treatments. My goal for 2022 is maximum length retention. My hair is currently almost arm pit length so am hoping for boob length
Yes to doing your own hair😍 Deep conditioning and hot oil treatments are game changers for sure. I am so excited for you. Please share with us when you start to see a difference in your hair after a month of using all of this.
I have super fine hair but it’s 3inches from my 🍑. I’m so excited to meet that milestone. I just installed mini braids and added a tiny bit of curly extensions so the ends would be curly, cute, and a little extra protection. Definitely doing this all year. Thank you for the video! You’re gorgeous 🤩
I also have very fine natural hair. How long do you leave your mini braids in? Also do you wash your hair in the mini braids? If so how often? I really need some advice for my very fine hair
@@sammie1122 I don’t leave braids in longer than 4 weeks. 5 weeks if I’m lazy. I don’t use shampoo at all, opting for a gentle mixture of ACV, a few drops of pure tea tree oil, and aloe vera juice. I wash my braids with that weekly and apply a deep conditioner with protein in it. I like Pamler’s protein pack or mielle’s protein DC. Coat the braids with your favorite oil, then I let the braids air dry, hanging freely and not pulling them up or back until completely dry. What’s made a huge difference for me is wearing a headband wig at least 2days out of the week, fully saturating my hair with water twice a week (wash day included), and avoiding any kind of Comb or brush unless absolutely necessary. Side note: my hair is fine AND high porosity, so I alternate protein and deep conditioning every week and use heavy oils on my ends. The heavy oils ‘stick’ better and coat my fragile hair better than the light oils. You would think thin hair would prefer light oils 😅 but I suppose it depends on the style you’re wearing as well. I hope this helps. I cut my hair last year so now I’m back at just below bra strap.
@manny498 thank you sooo much! We have very similar hair as mine is also very fine and high porosity. I'm going to try your method, my daughter mini braided my hair yesterday so I'll keep it in for 5 weeks. You've been a great help and I'll update you on my progress 😁

@@IAmHisBeloved5 Braiding takes more time to install than twists. But I have experienced less tangles and taking them down is easier and my hair is more stretched. I think I'll go with braids this year 😊.
I'm doing the same thing, Barbara. Mini braids! They worked so well for me last year, might as well keep going. Yes, you're right, the smaller ones are a pain to take out but last longer but the mid sized ones have to be rebraided weekly cause they frizz up faster.
Yay! So happy to hear that. You are right! I also rebraid mid week because they do really frizz up quickly. Sometimes I do four braids only and it lasts longer actually. So happy you are joining me on this one again😍

A good tip on keeping twists from tangling is to use grease. I use the Palmer’s grease and water for my twist, and tangles and frizz are nothing but a memory nowadays😌

Braids are great but you still need to care for your hair while it’s in braids same as twists. Sometimes the quantity of hair coming out might depend on how long you have kept the braids in. Our hair sheds everyday about 150 strands. Imagine if you had your braids in for three weeks how much shedding you will get. One thing is, you try different styles whether braids or twists to find what works for you. For me with mini twists, my hair tangles a lot so I don’t use them a lot of times. The process becomes easier if you find what works for you. Simple is best!😍

Hello. Thank you for this video. I think you have a great plan there. I am looking for a permanent style that will not require frequent styling but is presentable. Questions How do you keep your ends from being tangled ? How long do you keep your protective style before you take it down? My hair will get sooo frizzy if I wet it let alone washing it in braid
Hello, Good to have you here. Great questions. 🤔 a permanent style will depend on what works for your hair. Twists are presentable and they can last a long time. I tie a small knot on my ends to keep them from tangling together. My short term protective style I keep in for two weeks maximum and for a long term protective style I keep in for a month maximum. Mine also frizz when I wet them or wash them but I always re braid it to keep them neat.
👋 thank you for joining this channel. All your hair needs I share in my videos. Please look through my videos to find what works for you. The only way I can help is to share my own experience on my channel.
When I had short hair, I would put on mini braids and it would give me a nice braid out but you can wear mini braids and put on your wig on top and that could grow your hair
I am not sure I understand the question but yeah you have to leave your hair in plaits for max three weeks-my opinion! But your hair won’t grow in days unfortunately but overtime your hair will grow especially when you leave it alone for a while
Looks interesting but my hair isn't long enough for the style to actually fit my face shape. I've only worn it like this with a LOT of plaits/plats (not tiny, just reasonable size). (My hair is collarbone length btw) and it would just never fit my looks. Especially with all of this shrinkage. But I want long hair so 😭
I get that but I don’t think your hair needs to be long to do this protective style and grow out your hair. You can still wear your hair in mini braids and put on a wig if you are working or going out. The mini braids are supposed to keep your hair safe and stretched so that it can grow over time.
@@BarbaraBirungiSunflower Yes, I know haha. And I dont work, I'm still attending school where all false hair (braids, extensiosn..anything) is banned. And my mother would NEVER let me wear a wig😅 But I'm taking the advice and c)urrently placing my hair in the braids, not mini but reasonable size. Just until it's time to actually do my hair for physical school or any special occasion :)
So when I have washed and styled my hair in mini braids on Sunday. I re braid during the week on Thursday or sometimes on Wednesday depending on how much frizz I am experiencing.
Barbra dear,, kindly direct me on the products to use,, mostly the moisturizer and oils coz it seems am using the wrong products 🥺🥺 Kindly share your number if possible coz I really need this hair growth thing real bad for my wedding day. These are not mini braids. Mini braids are very small hence the term mini. We have to make sure we are using the correct term so we can learn and understand

How do you keep your ends from being tangled ?
How long do you keep your protective style before you take it down?
My hair will get sooo frizzy if I wet it let alone washing it in braid
Hello, Good to have you here. Great questions. 🤔 a permanent style will depend on what works for your hair. Twists are presentable and they can last a long time. I tie a small knot on my ends to keep them from tangling together. My short term protective style I keep in for two weeks maximum and for a long term protective style I keep in for a month maximum. When I had short hair, I would put on mini braids and it would give me a nice braid out but you can wear mini braids and put on your wig on top and that could grow your hair
Wow beautiful!!! Do you have problems with removing the ends?
Not really! My ends come out easily. I apply a little bit of water and then detangle them out. Thank you for the compliment😍
Can you grow out your natural plaits for couple of days?
I am not sure I understand the question but yeah you have to leave your hair in plaits for max three weeks-my opinion! But your hair won’t grow in days unfortunately but overtime your hair will grow especially when you leave it alone for a while
@@BarbaraBirungiSunflower i agree
New subbie!!! 😍😍😍
Yay🤗 Thank you so much for joining the fam on here. I appreciate your support
This is medium braid,
Mini , medium all the same to me as long as they are not tiny braids or large
And my mother would NEVER let me wear a wig😅
But I'm taking the advice and c)urrently placing my hair in the braids, not mini but reasonable size. Just until it's time to actually do my hair for physical school or any special occasion :)
However, when school starts back I'd more than likely place them in the mini braids or twists so that there's no stress for that.
When do you rebraid your braids?
So when I have washed and styled my hair in mini braids on Sunday. I re braid during the week on Thursday or sometimes on Wednesday depending on how much frizz I am experiencing.
@@BarbaraBirungiSunflower Thank you for your reply
Barbra dear,, kindly direct me on the products to use,, mostly the moisturizer and oils coz it seems am using the wrong products 🥺🥺 Kindly share your number if possible coz I really need this hair growth thing real bad for my wedding day. Hello dear please dm me on Instagram at @barbarathesunflower
Do you take them out every week or not?You are not very clear .
I don’t fully understand your question. I don’t take them out. I wear them the entire week. Wash and moisturize my braids while they are in. I will share that video next
@@BarbaraBirungiSunflower because at one point you say you redo them .That's why it's confusing.
From what I understood,She said she remove it once a week and then rebraid it for the next week
@@sassah95 Humm, she wasn't very clear.
These are not mini braids. Mini braids are very small hence the term mini. We have to make sure we are using the correct term so we can learn and understand
I get that and I respect you for saying that. The point of this video is I will be growing my hair in this style. Either big braids, small braids, mini braids, medium braids as long as my hair is braided that’s what I am going to be doing. Thank you!
Right!
Yh
Sorry I am not too with abbreviations dear. What’s that?
less is more. excellent muse

Why are you calling these mini braids? These are just large plaits!
🤔 according to me they are mini braids darling. They are not mini to you I guess. The point is I will be growing my hair in this hair style.
