Turkish is by far the best airline in Europe and their enlargment process is simply mind blowing. And it's a breath of fresh air to see a non-Arabic airline doing so well. The Istanbul airport is big and fancy but I'm not sure it's a good thing for passengers to have to walk through such a large airport. So much nice footage and really good journalism!
i would consider turkish more a middle eastern airline especially seeing as those are the airlines theyre competing with, and turkiye is often considered part of the middle east. the most impressive part is that even when comparing them with the likes of emirates and qatar they are still a great and competitive airline
@@GenAvAviation Türkiye is not part of the Middle East geographically, historically, or culturally. It is primarily located in Europe and Anatolia, with Istanbul literally bridging the continents of Europe and Asia. Politically and economically, Türkiye has strong ties with Europe (e.g., as a NATO member and EU candidate state). While Turkish Airlines does compete with Middle Eastern carriers like Emirates and Qatar Airways, this is purely a market comparison, not a geographical or cultural association. It is more accurate to categorize Turkish Airlines as a GLOBAL carrier with Istanbul as a major hub connecting Europe, Asia, and beyond. Please don’t oversimplify such a rich and diverse country’s identity. 😊
@@m.e.c.5837 im not trying to offend turkish people or oversimplify history, but the fact of the matter is that a lot of people do consider turkiye part of the middle east. it has its similarities and differences. however, purely geographically and based on its business model turkish is definitely part of the middle eastern airlines group and should be treated as such, instead of being compared with the far inferior european airlines. my point still stands that even when comparing to those airlines turkish is still great and often cheaper while still providing a solid product
@@GenAvAviation No offense taken, but I strongly disagree with your generalization and I take it on me to explain to you the following: Just because some (mostly white Caucasian) people incorrectly lump Türkiye into the Middle East (because they think it is all the same) doesn’t make it accurate. Geographically, Türkiye is a transcontinental country, with most of its land in Anatolia (Asia Minor) and a smaller but significant part in Europe (Thrace). It is not part of the Middle East; this is a fact, not an opinion. This is absolutely not up for discussion. Culturally and racially, Turkish people are not Middle Eastern either. They are a unique mix of Turkic, Anatolian, and European influences, distinct from Middle Eastern populations. Additionally, Türkiye’s official language is Turkish, part of the Turkic language family, not related to the Semitic languages spoken across the Middle East, such as Arabic or Hebrew. Now, let’s address your claim that “purely geographically and based on its business model, Turkish Airlines is definitely part of the Middle Eastern airlines group.” Geographically, this is simply incorrect. Istanbul, Turkish Airlines’ main hub, is not in the Middle East. Classifying airlines by geography places Turkish Airlines as a European and Asian carrier, not Middle Eastern. So, as you said, “purely geographically,” it is not, is it? So besides the majority of Türkiye (even though secular) being muslim there is not much that connects Türkiye with the Middle East (except maybe the food which was Ottoman/Levantine) and let us also not forget there are muslim countries in Asia so that cannot be the reason either. As for the business model: what exactly about it aligns with Middle Eastern carriers? The success of Turkish Airlines comes from positioning Istanbul as a global crossroads, connecting continents efficiently. In fact, Turkish Airlines flies to more countries than any other airline in the world, making it a truly global carrier and solidifying Istanbul as the global hub. This is not exclusive to Middle Eastern carriers; it’s a strategy that reflects Türkiye’s unique geography and ambition on the world stage. By this logic, does Lufthansa or Singapore Airlines become “Middle Eastern” because of their excellent service or connectivity? Why won’t you call them that? Because one is a very clearly Western European group of people, and the other is clearly Asian? Then it is clear you cannot differentiate Turks from Arabs. Being world-class doesn’t equate to being Middle Eastern. If your reasoning is that Turkish Airlines’ quality or competitive pricing somehow aligns them with Middle Eastern airlines, that’s a strange basis for classification. It’s like saying JetBlue is a European airline because it offers a better business class product than most American carriers. Excellence doesn’t redefine geography, culture, or identity. So, what exactly makes Turkish Airlines part of the Middle Eastern group? Their service quality? Their excellence? Their race or religion? Turkish Airlines competes globally, leveraging its transcontinental position and unique identity. Grouping them as “Middle Eastern” because they excel oversimplifies their heritage and unique role as a bridge between continents. Let’s appreciate Turkish Airlines for what it is: a truly world-class airline representing Türkiye’s VERY distinct and NOT Middle Eastern identity. Thank you, and I hope you learned something today. Cheers.

Good video review, thanks. As for thank you in Turkish, the second word you were looking for was 'ederim', or 'tesekkur ederim' is also a way of saying thank you. 'tesekkurler' is simply 'thanks', which is commonly used. Someone must have told you 'tesekkur ederim' and that's why you are still remembering it's two words :)

Fun fact about Runway 16R/34L is that it was built specifically to handle the upcoming (at the time) Airbus A380 and other jumbo jets. Only 1 A380 has ever used the runway, however Lufthansa's A340-600 currently uses it, which is close enough 😅
Love that my home airport is expanding it's route network, this looked like a fantastic flight - Fun fact, apparently until engine/plane technology improves, this is about the max distance Denver will serve. Even with 16,000 feet of runway, with a full fuel/pax load in the hot summer months, 12 hr+ flights are not realistic at the moment because of density altitude considerations. I'm sure a more technical person could give a better explanation, but my understanding is even if they lengthened the longest runway, it would not be enough for certain circumstances (engine out?) to serve fully loaded heavies.
Great review and thanks for highlighting Denver International Airport! Loved all the insights and in-flight commentary and proud of my hometown airport for getting this flight. Will be watching more of your videos in the future!
