  • Prawn here with a look at a really interesting and remarkably comfortable gaming chair that I'm a big fan of. With one big caveat - stick to the end of the video to see that!
    Anyway, this is the ThunderX3 Core gaming chair. A chair that offers all the usual customisation in terms of position (reclining, tilting and more), with 4D arm rests and such, but has other highlights that I've not seen elsewhere like a lumbar support module that moves with you. So it adjusts left and right and tilts back and forth as you shift around in your chair.
    Other highlights include a large footrest that alternatively acts as a rest for your arms when using a controller, a plush headcushion and some superbly padded arm rests too.
    The ThunderX3 Core might be one of the best gaming chairs I've tried, though it is unfortunately squeaky.

    I have been testing out this exact chair as well and can say i am in agreement with the points mentioned, and as far as lumbar support goes, this is without doubt the most supportive chair i have ever used

    I've been using the Herman Miller Embody for over 6 months now and, while it's not cushy, it does provide the support that I need to work at my desk comfortably for long hours. Finding the right chair for you is difficult, but also very important.

      Nice. Glad you're enjoying it. I'm planning on selling mine to see if I can recoup some of the losses.

      @@TheProvokedPrawn Have you considered trying out the Haworth Fern? I watched a bunch of reviews on it, and it seems very popular. It was my second choice after the Embody.

    Is the seat and lumbar firm? Had a secretlab evo and Razer enki and both where to firm for me.

    Top tip: GT Omega have recently started selling a head cushion which should really suit headphones users. The cushion supplied with the core will constantly bump headphones with 50mm drivers.

    Should I get this chair or the SecretLabs Titan Evo?

    Just got this chair yesterday and I must say that I really like the back support and it's innovative BUT the chair itself is wobbly and makes sounds. Like you can feel small bumps when moving front and back and just the usual usage. I don't even know how to explain it.

    Just got this to replace my old SecretLab. Thunderx3 wins. For the price it is way better value for the back support you get. The arm rests are so so comfortable. The material and build quality is on par with SecretLab. Overall a better chair for the money you're paying.

    I have a question about the lumbar support. How is it attached to the chair?
    I had a chair with a very similar lumbar support but it had a fatal flaw. It attached to the chair by sliding UP into a bracket on the chair back. Unfortunately, this led to the lumbar support sliding back down and falling out if you moved around enough. If they had flipped that bracket where it slid DOWN into the chair it would have been amazing.

      it is on a massive spring and the whole thing moves to contour your back without needing any adjustment

  • @svlagonda7417
    @svlagonda7417 7 месяцев назад +6

    The lumbar on this is soooo uncomfortable as it doesn't adjust.

    • @TheProvokedPrawn
      @TheProvokedPrawn  7 месяцев назад +2

      it moves as you do though? But yes, it doesn't adjust in or out. So I suppose it depends on your body shape and height.

    • @svlagonda7417
      @svlagonda7417 7 месяцев назад

      Which makes it pointless as everyone is completely different in terms of body size/shape/height etc. It's like the Razer Ishkur ie completely OTT/absurd lumbar pad. I bought this chair 'blind' and have been regretting it ever since. @@TheProvokedPrawn

      I've tried this chair as well and the lumbar support is just too aggressive. I found that I had to slouch to try and avoid the non-movable lumbar section which just isn't good for your back in the long term. People are far better off buying a proper ergonomic office chair. @gavlatennis2824

    I got this chair a couple of months ago and I've got to say the lumbar support was a complete game changer for me. I've never experienced something like it. I'd like to comment on the squeaking though! I opted for the grey fabric version which has no squeak! But have noticed in other peoples reviews that bought the pu leather version that it was squeaking for them so I am guessing it's maybe because of the material? Maybe something for people to consider when buying this chair.

      It definitely sounds like the PU leather rubbing. It's crazy how things like this get overlooked, especially as the lumbar mechanism is supposed to move constantly...

      I am and I still like it. Though the squeak is driving me nuts as it gets picked up by my mic a lot and I'm worried people will think I'm farting. But that's ok, because they I just do my voice overs standing up which is better for me anyway haha

    Never buy plastic leather. It's cracks easily and starts looking very tatty very quickly. Not a very breathable material either.

    • @paft

      Yep, after 3 years (if the chair doesn't fail) it will look a mess, unless you only wear silk PJ's on it.
      I cannot comment on this chair, but in my experience it is a bad choice for longevity.
